Riverfront is one of the nicest Regional Parks I’ve been to. Nice flat walk around a beautiful lake surrounded by Redwood trees. All the people where very friendly, and all the dogs were on their leashes. It’s a beautiful, safe place to take a walk or run. They also have barbecue grills and benches in several locations. I’ll post some pics from my next walk.

Riverfront Regional Park is a wonderful multipurpose and multifaceted park in the heart of wine country in Northern California.The park has loads and loads of parking, group use areas, game areas are set up, picnic tables and BBQ areas, and clean bathrooms. There are two lakes for your enjoyment, no swimming but boating and fishing are allowed.The park is located along the Russian River, has loads of hiking trails along the lakes with benches for beautiful lake views. There are trails designated for hiking and horse back riding; and, trails for just hiking.Its very easy to spend an hour or the day enjoying the Riverfront Regional Park. I would give this 10-stars if I could. Magical place to take a walk and enjoy the moments. You enter into a redwood forest with picnic tables and seating, and as you walk further it takes you along a perfect trail around a lake. The walking is flat and easy and the scenery is spectacular! On the walk I saw an egret, horses, and bald eagle. Also it seemed every other person walking was with their dog - every kind of dog imaginable, it was like a free dog show! I took my dog as well and she LOVED trotting along the trails. When we got to the end we ate some sandwiches at the picnic tables while relaxing under a redwood tree. Parking is $7 which is great to support our local parks. Its easy to get here. A true hidden gem!

Great park for a picnic and a short hike. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash. The trail is mostly flat and depending on your path, it is about 2 miles long. There are some shady spots along the way to get out of the direct sun for a bit. Parking costs $7.00 and can be paid in cash or by credit/debit card. I came late Sunday morning and there were two people working at the entrance to help with payment. Based on how packed the parking area was, I expected the trail to be packed but it was still pretty nice and peaceful! I would definitely come back next time I’m in the area!

Serene park surrounded by vineyards. Hiking trails and picnic tables make this a great place to spend time in a small forested area or along a lake. No restrooms visible to me. Leashed dogs welcome.

Came here for the first time recently for a company party. Loved the grills and picnic tables under the redwoods trees. They provided plenty of shade. Restrooms located near by. There is a easy flat hike around lake Benoist with little rest points overlooking the water. Cant wait to come back to explore some more.

Lovely trail walk around riparian plant life. Partially to mostly shaded, can access the lake shore in many areas, a few different trails/walks to choose from. Lots of benches along the path. Leashed dog friendly. (Leash was off for picture (: )Spotted an osprey and many cormorants this walk around.

Lots of parking. Shaded seating area. The bathrooms are clean. 2 lakes to go fishing. Easy access to fishing spots, great for kids. Path is stable & easy to walk through & there is also access to the Russian River 😀 gets packed during weekends & summer

Beautiful lake and riverfront. We took our bikes and our dog (in a basket) along the paths that circle the lake. There are very few places on the waterfront to sit. If you do find a spot it is very small and usually down a steep little path; hence the 4 stars. We did find a small Redwood “forest” with a pretty bridge as we were heading toward the parking lot. Worth a visit.

We were searching for a place near Santa Rosa where we could let our dog swim! This park exceeded all of our expectations. The redwood grove at the front of the park was absolutely lovely. And our dog loved wading around in the lake and chewing on sticks. We highly recommend checking out this park if you’re looking for a place to get outside and enjoy some fresh air in Sonoma.We also took the footpath to the Russian River and found a nice clearing on the river bank to relax. However, there was a lot of green algae in the river water so we didn’t stay too long. I was afraid it might be blue-green algae, which can be toxic for dogs and humans. There weren’t any warning signs posted but we stayed out of the water for the most part out of an abundance of caution. I’ve seen warning signs for the algae in other areas of Sonoma.Riverfront Park also is adjacent to some picturesque vineyards and is very close to downtown Windsor, which we found to be a very charming town.

We love this place daughter and her boyfriend showed us this park. Something Windsor of Eastside road and it is beautiful. Big lake you can walk around, picnic tables & a river comes through there. By the parking lot there are quite a few other tables underneath the beautiful trees where you can picnic or just relax under the trees read a book and play some chess and some games kids can run around its a beautiful area.

Great place to let the little ones run around the great redwoods right outside of town. Nice waterfront views and would highly recommend planning your next picnic/outdoor outing here. Someone even left us a parking pass which we left for another park goer. PASS IT ON!!

Lovely park with a cute redwood grove (which I didnt get a photo of), and a lovely hiking trail around a lake. The trail is easy, flat, and good for a stroll with your dogs or a trail run. Ample parking and very clean bathrooms.

Absolutely love it! Been going here for years now, my kids have a million beautiful memories of playing, walking, BBQS, swimming, exploring hidden trails and even fishing! Everyone can find something they love out here oh and Horses are WELCOME TOO and they have a volleyball net up in the picnic area.

Beautiful trail! Great views and easy hiking. Mostly flat. Super family friendly. Great for picnics. There’s even a place for throwing horseshoes. Would give this five stars if it wasn’t so busy. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Not much parking and tons of people on the trail. Would recommend going early in the morning or during the week, if you want to be able to take it all in without a crowd.

Good easy hike. Great River access in the summer, not usually very crowded like the other beaches. Early April 2019 the trail was flooded so I couldnt go all the way around the lake loop.

The water level in the lakes is high that the trail around is flooded at the moments, but the park still great with the Great Blue Herons nesting in 500 year old redwood trees.

Great place for leisurely hike with family. Love that it is wheelchair accessible! Beautiful lakes as you walk along the wide trails with benches to stop and rest. A newly built selfie station is a creative, and amusing feature.

A lovely spot for a walk by the river. Its almost entirely flat, except an optional side trail called the redwood trail or something. Skip it, youll see more redwoods in the picnic area. Also seems to be a nice spot for a wedding.

Riverfront park is a gem outside the Town of Windsor. It is a beautiful 2.3 mile walk that circles a lake. There is a Redwood Grove and picnic area at the beginning of the trail, plus there is a bonus trail that ascends a small hill that will get your heart rate up. It loops back to the main trail. This adds about a half a mile to the hike. It cost $7 to park there unless you have Sonoma County Parks Pass.Horses and dogs on leash are welcome too 😊

Was a nice place to stop for a picnic. While eating less than 50 feet from our car (hidden by willow) our back window was smashed in. Had nothing in the car, nothing was stolen. Another car nearby also had their window smashed and nothing stolen.Told the park ranger and he just responded that yes this happens and they have no cameras. It would have been nice if he empathized and at least “recorded it,” as this is a regional park in which one pays for parking.Totally not the parks fault-just a bummer.

There is a ~2 mile trail that goes around the lake that is completely flat so it is really easy to walk/run. There is no up and downs but you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. It is good for kids, pets, and older people since is a really easy trail. There are also picnic benches through the park. If you have a kayak you can also go in the lake with it.

A great place to walk our dog and introduce him to horses. No homeless shelters evident, clean and safe bathrooms (thank you Sonoma County). Today (Memorial Day Weekend) there is a sign saying the lower lake trail is flooded and to choose one side or the other. To provide a few more details, there are two parallel paths -- one wide hardpack trail above shore, and a walking trail along the shore. Today the walking trail is largely submerged with the recent rains and snowmelt, but the upper hardpack trail is dry and open all the way to the far end of the lower lake, where it is dammed by several large rocks which you can clamber over to return to the trail on the other side if you have decent footwear. So choose either side.

I love this park! The huge redwood trees at the entrance are gorgeous, with a great picnic area for large groups under their canopy. The trail around the lakes is wide and easy most of the way, until you get to the rocky area between the lakes that requires some scrambling when the water level is high. Nice spot for lake fishing, or head to the Russian River on the edge of the park. Fun trail along the edge of the lake with nice shady spots for relaxing with a good book or picnic. Some years Ive seen the egrets nesting and heard the squawks of the chicks high in the trees - its quite a sight! Great for a peaceful solo hike to enjoy the quiet and beauty, or for families to explore among the trees and catch a fish. And its only 15 min north of Santa Rosa, right outside of quaint Windsor.

Nice park to go for a casual walk/ low impact hike. Its got decent shade over the majority of the trails which is helpful for not overheating. It is unpaved, so keep that in mind. Its also clean and has some lovely views. Overall, I enjoyed visiting this park.

Supremely disappointing, for someone used to exploring the amazing parks around the East Bay. Very few redwoods, only in the area near the parking lot. The walk around the water is really only a mile or two, and the trees there are unremarkable scrub trees (and bushes.) Access to the river is very limited and poorly marked. Views along the river very limited due to growth there- scrub bushes, trees.The signage map (no paper maps) only shows the main trail, and none of the side trails that are visible on the walk. All in all, a very drab area, and as such the high fee ($7) for parking is insulting. I suppose you are funding the expensive wireless parking meter, and the toilets, but not much else. Pass. Go to Armstrong instead.

Nice spot for a leisurely walk - can be completed in ~1 hour and is flat. Lots of picnic tables under pines near the parking lot and access points to the water for enjoying views/fishing(?). Note the $7 daily usage fee which is made easy to pay as there is a machine that takes cards or you can do the traditional envelope and cash.

While the parking is $7 all day with no street parking available, the hike was very much a nice serene ~2 mile loop. There are tons of family and dogs. You can certainly have a picnic at the riverfront. There is an open restroom area too.

This is a really wonderful park. There is a parking fee as well as a few for bringing your dog. The park also has a swim beach (another fee). There are well kept paths, nice bathrooms, tables, grills, and fishing docks.Its a great place to spend an afternoon and to being the kids.

I love riverfront regional park. Although the name implies that it is river front, there is not great river access. As far as I know, there is only one place to get to the river there, and there isnt even a beach.However, it is a great park for biking and walking. There is even a nice little mulched and shaded place to eat with plenty of tables and a bathroom. Im 90% sure you can kayak/paddle board in the lakes there, but you cant swim in them. Again, it is a great place to go on a walk or a bike ride.

Beautiful park for family get togethers or other social events. Main area with picnic tables with BBQ grills and volleyball ball courts are well shaded, while other spots are spread out along the trails. There are 2 lakes you can kayak on and fish, which is well stocked with bass and catfish. Great trails around the lakes for walking that lead to Russian River. Park is always well maintained and easy to access. Well worth the Regional parks membership fee.

Nice quiet place for a hike. The western most park of the trail is pretty washed out and can get a little sketchy. Lots of blackberries here, and the ones on the sunny side of the path are the best. Dont go here is you are looking to sit by the Russian River. There are only two real spots and they are small and occupied early.

Great bass and bluegill fishing. Both the lakes have alot of fish, but the second lake has waaaaaay more activity. Dont waste your time fishing in between sun hours pretty much 12pm-6pm. I went out at 6am and had the most luck at that time.

Very beautiful spot to be in the evening. Sunsets and views are incredible. Bass fishing.. not so wonderful.I have pulled a ten pound catfish out of the 2nd lake. Great for BBQ. Has horseshoe pits. Big enough to take horses for a ride there also.

Riverfront Regional Park is a Sonoma County Park. You must have a park pass to use park or pay at gate. Not sure what fee is this yr though. I love it because its an appx 3 mile loop around a beautiful lake. Its a nature trail and. Trail meanders through coastal redwoods, wildflowers, wildlife, birds. There are benches along the way if you need a rest. Restrooms are in the picnic area, set off a bit and the picnic area is centered under a most beautiful grovevof Coast Redwoods. There are other trails too. One is a steep climb. I attempted, but did not finish..(bad knee at time). But seasoned hikers will enjoy. There is no swimming in lake but non motorized boats and fishing are allowed. This park also sits adjacent to the Russian River and There is access to the water though I dont recall seeing much beach. You CAN swim in the river, though its quite a hike from parking to water. Dogs on leash allowed too and poopy bags are provided as well. Peoples of all ages will enjoy something about this park.

This is an absolutely beautiful park, theres large walking trails that are well maintained, volley ball court, big bbq lots of picnic tables and benches.

First time I came here I was surprised to see the huge central picnic area. Under the cover of big redwood trees, it would be a great place for a large group on a hot day. I couldnt find any beaches to wade in the water, but it would be great if I had a 🛶.

Delightful park along the Russian River. Fun hike around the lake. The park is surrounded by picturesque vineyards. The place is especially verdant in the Spring.

They could break up the group area and make more individual spaces. Seems like every group that reserves the group space uses just a fraction of the tables while the rest of us compete for the remaining 3-4 first come, first served spaces.

This is a beautiful hidden gem of a a park. An early morning walk or afternoon picnic and bbq, fishing, horseshoe pit. Dogs and horses allowed. Clean restrooms are a plus here.
