Riffs Yoga Studio has been a welcoming studio since I moved to the area last year. They have helped me connect with others in the local yoga community, which I really appreciate. The music played during classes is great and really enhances the experience. The sound healing sessions offered at the studio are amazing - I always leave feeling centered and rejuvenated. I love the traditional yoga feel of the studio space at both locations. Overall, Riffs Yoga Studio has been a wonderful addition to my yoga journey!

I recently had the pleasure of attending yoga classes at Riffs Yoga Studio in Bird Rock during my business trip to San Diego, and it was an experience I won’t forget.The atmosphere at Riffs is simply fantastic. Practicing yoga outdoors surrounded by the beauty of nature was truly uplifting and refreshing. What stood out to me the most was the approach of the instructors. They emphasized the participant as the main instructor, with themselves as the secondary guide. This philosophy underscores the importance of listening to your body and honoring its needs, which I deeply appreciated. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised to find that sound healing was integrated into every class I attended, adding an extra dimension to the practice and enhancing the overall experience.Throughout my visit, I had the opportunity to attend a variety of classes led by six or seven different instructors, and each one was exceptional. Their expertise and passion for yoga shone through in every session, creating a welcoming and motivating environment.Without a doubt, I’ll be returning to Riffs Yoga Studio the next time I’m in San Diego. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a rejuvenating yoga experience!

I had been wanting to come to Riffs for quite some time. During a yoga teacher training at another lovely studio, we were required to take external courses with new instructors. So, I took the opportunity to go to Riffs. I took advantage of their new student offer. I did a handful of classes and loved each of them. The outdoor space is unmatched, and live music and sound healing are offered frequently to enhance classes. There is tea available and the Bird Rock location feels like a spa when you enter. I will surely be coming back.

Riff’s is magic! From the knowledgeable teachers, unique workshops, and amazing outdoor deck space, it’s is such a unique spot. Alana’s morning flows are a great way to start the day feeling connected, and always have good music. Sammy’s vinyasa is great for a challenge and if you’re interested in practicing inversions or learning new poses. Definitely recommend!

Amazing space and instructors. Better on weekends as less noise from cars and trucks etc on the roads. But I guess that’s the small price you pay for having a rare and lovely outdoor space in a busy area.

The bird rock location is an absolutely beautiful & unique, tropical outdoor space - no other studio I’ve seen is similar. The OB studio is also lovely. What stands out to me with the instructors is they are genuine, knowledgeable and encourage you to practice yoga on & off the mat.💗 There is definitely a feeling of community here. Riffs Yoga Studio has become one of my absolute favorite yoga studios ever. I moved from Arizona back in September 2023 and have been looking for a yoga studio since then. When I attended my first class at Bird Rock I was blown away by the variety of classes, the expertise of the teachers, and just the overall comfy, cute vibe of Riffs. A beautiful studio with wonderful instructors and fun classmates. The atmosphere is welcoming but don’t think it’s easy — the instructors will push you to grow and become the best you can be. Riffs is my favorite yoga studio in San Diego! I did my teacher training in India and I love that the teachers here include pranayama and meditation in challenging flow classes. Particularly love the 75 min Vinyasa classes!Also - this is the MOST beautiful outdoor studio. So so serene.

This is my favorite yoga studio in the San Diego area. The outdoor space is beautiful, well-kept and relaxing, making it hard to return to indoor yoga! Teachers are great. The biggest draw for me is the calming live piano music they offer at a couple classes each week.

Absolutely LOVE Riffs (Bird Rock)!PROSI have tried several different teachers and types of classes (e.g. Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa) and every teacher has been absolutely kind, supportive, and have the best energy. My partner and Is favorite is definitely Katherines Yin yoga with sound healing. She provides the MOST clear instructions, options for variations, and has a soothing and reassuring energy. I love how empowering she is in having each individual trust their own bodies and do what feels good.I also loved having a class with live music - we had a live guitarist available throughout the class and it just brings a whole other element of serenity and comfort.As for the outdoor setting, I wish more studios had this available because nothing beats the fresh air and gentle ocean breeze. You can smell the ocean right next to the studio and the with the beautiful plants, wood deck, and birds chirping outside - it is the perfect way to unplug.CONSHowever, the reason why I put 4 stars instead of 5 is really because of elements outside of Riffs control. Maybe because it is currently Summer Break for children, but more than a couple times now has it been really hard to focus and relax when the residents right next to the studio are scolding and screaming at each other. Occasionally, you will also hear the restaurant next door but that actually has been very easy to drown out and it is nor nearly as disruptive as when parents and children are screaming bloody murder what sounds like just a few feet away from you.Again, none of this is Riffs fault by any means. Actually, the teachers do an AMAZING job trying to help you tune back into your breath and really put in an effort to guide you through these distractions - which I appreciate so much. Really shows how much they care about your experience. I think I might have had just bad luck with the timing of Summer Break and children not being in school during the hours I attend class.CONCLUSIONOverall, I would highly recommend this studio. If only I lived closer (I drive about 30-45 mins with traffic), then I would attend everyday! Despite the drive, I feel like its still worth it - just goes to show you how much I love it. :-)

Riff’s yoga studio is a tranquil and inclusive space to practice yoga. As a new San Diego resident, experienced yoga practitioner and yoga teacher, this studio is a blessing. Have been coming here continuously for about three months now after having relocated to San Diego. I had pretty high expectations for a yoga studio as my last one felt like a true family. I can confidently say that in this short time at Riffs, I already feel right at home. The instructors remember my name and are always consistent in their kindness and class quality. Joined the studio less than 2 weeks ago and so far it has been a wonderful experience. All the classes were interactive, people nice and I enjoyed special details like live music. The ambiance is also very pretty. The deck is full of green and covered from sun so it’s an overall great environment to practice yoga. So far, really enjoying it!

I love the open backyard deck at Riffs. Its the perfect indoor-outdoor vibe and feels so good when a nice breeze rolls in during practice. Being surrounded by tall trees and luscious plants also makes the practice feel so much more special and unique. Love this studio! Ive only gone to a few classes, but it might be my favorite yoga studio in San Diego so far. The outdoor environment is soo nice - you can hear lots of bird calls and they have a large shade covering so no need to worry about it being too sunny. Their vinyasa class is exactly what Ive been looking for. Classic vinyasa postures and flows, but I would definitely say a more moderate to challenging level, with lots of options for balance postures and more advanced poses.

This is a superb yoga studio! I was looking for a yoga community where authentic yoga was taught. I was looking for an integration of asanas, meditation, philosophy……this is the place. It’s extremely difficult to have a favorite teacher as all teachers are so compétant, warm, present and kind. The outdoor location is charming…..you can hear birds…smell the ocean. It’s a studio for people of all ages and yoga skills. I love the variety of classes and times. I’ve been practicing yoga for twenty years and have never had a better, warmer, kinder experience! I live near Riffs and always wanted to try it so I decided to do the $30 for 30 days new student special. Its a great value and I really enjoy the community feel of the class, the studio, and the outdoor space is both lovely and comfortable with the heaters, even on gloomy days. This is a great yoga studio. The outdoor space is beautiful. Ive taken 5 classes so far and every class has had a terrific instructor. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They want you to enjoy your yoga experience. You just bring your mat and they can supply all the other props you may need; blocks, blankets, straps, and bolsters. The studio offers a great introductory deal that allows you to try a lot of classes for the first 30 days so you can get a feel for all the studio has to offer. I definitely recommend this studio. There isnt anything I didnt like about it. A very positive experience each time.

Good studio until you actually need to cancel your membership. It’s been a week and half now that I’m desperately trying to contact them to stop my membership, as I moving away for a little while . No one is replying to my texts, various emails and I even went directly to the studio where no one care to help me.Zero customer services, once they got your money in. Extremely disappointed!! I will definitely not be a a customer of theirs again.Edits: They resolved the issue. A teacher from the studio really did her best to help, and had someone reaching out to me directly via text. I’m not sure what was the issue but it looks like all the communication sent to me didn’t go through correctly. Anyway, I appreciate the efforts from the teacher and the membership manager in trying to make things right!The studio is great with the outdoor experience, they offer tea for every classes, the teachers are really nice, however, I am not giving more than 3 stars because it can be really frustrating not being able to directly reach out to a human when needed. The AI system, prevents me from giving it 5 stars, as my experience with it has caused a lot of miscommunication and frustration.

I am a senior citizen who had never taken a yoga class until 3 weeks ago. My doctor suggested Yoga to improve balance, core strength and mindfulness.I cant compare Riffs to another studio, but can say that everyone is warm and welcoming the minute you walk in the door and there is a strong community feeling. The outdoor space is enveloping with a lot of greenery and there is a canopy to protect from the elements. So far, my three different instructors (all slow flow classes) are polished and professional; while I am being put through my paces and try to push myself to my limit, the instructors always admonish to proceed at your own pace (dont hurt yourself.) Also, I do not feel any judgment about not being able to find or hold poses as well as the many experienced practitioners in the classes.With the combination of the active and still practice in each session, I end each class feeling serene, like I got a workout and that I will get the hang of it soon.So far, yoga practice has been an excellent experience for me and I highly recommend Riffs for any beginner at any age.

Riffs is a lovely little sanctuary for practicing yoga. The outdoor deck is idyllic, and a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor. You are surrounded by trees and a mesh canopy overhead, heaters and a great sound system give you all the comforts of an indoor studio, with the beauty of nature surrounding. I discovered Riffs Studio in Bird Rock a few months ago. I signed up for Class Pass and was looking for an outdoor studio because I was still concerned about the pandemic. I was so happy to find Riffs, they have a beautiful outdoor patio with heat lamps, surrounded by palm trees and bamboo. Sometimes you can hear the ocean waves crashing since they are just a couple blocks from the beach. I feel very welcome and the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. I am a regular now at Yin Yoga with Sound Healing, a perfect blend of stretching and meditative sounds. I also really enjoyed Ashtanga (Power) yoga class, it was the first time I enrolled and the instructor was great about explaining each pose and even the history behind this particular form of yoga. I would highly encourage you to check it out :)

I just recently started joined this studio after taking a class through classpass. I have been looking for a new studio with a variety of challenging classes and I love everything about Riffs. Both the OB and BR locations have a variety of wonderful classes and all of the teachers are so welcoming. I’ve only been to a few outdoor studios, but mainly for aerial, I love the outdoor deck in bird rock, it is such a fun experience!

I love Riffs! There is a very comforting and warm feeling to the studio that welcomes you in. The classes are great, particularly the ones that include sound healing! I feel like I’m getting a physical external workout while I’m getting an internal massage from the sound. The classes have a great pace and rhythm that allow you to flow with ease through poses. Jennifer is amazingly talented and friendly, as are the other instructors. I always leave class feeling much better than I did before I walked in. Can’t recommend enough!

I really enjoyed my first week at Riffs Studio in Bird Rock. The neighborhood couldnt be any cuter and the vibes at the studio are really chill. The front desk staff is very friendly. The back deck is really great and doing yoga outside under a big tarp and surrounded by tropical plants is a nice ambiance. I tried out a few different styles of classes including Vinyasa, Slow Flow and Yin with Sound Healing. All of them were great and the instructors were awesome.

I love Riff’s Yoga in Birdrock. They offer a wide variety of classes to suit all levels of expertise from beginner to advanced. The instructors are seasoned pros and make everyone feel welcome. And, the (covered) outdoor space is gorgeous and lends itself to a calming yoga practice (and, as an East Coaster who visits San Diego every winter, I value an outdoor class more than most!). All yogis should take a class at Riff’s.

So many great classes! Vinyasa with sound healing on Wednesday nights at Riffs in Bird Rock is absolutely magical! The outdoor deck with twinkle lights and candles created a relaxing and special vibe. The singing bowls and harmonium instrument added an extra layer of mental and physical zen. The instructor’s voice was so serene and the pace of the class was doable even for someone who tends to move slower (me). I’ve taken a few other vinyasa classes here and each instructor has a slightly different flow, so you’re never in a rut of sameness. 10/10 would recommend coming here!

In what feels like the Mecca of yoga studio choices here in San Diego (especially North County), its nice to have finally found the one. Riffs open air setting makes me question ever doing yoga indoors again. Instructors here are humble, patient, and just right there with ya. This is my absolute favorite yoga studio in San Diego. I love that it is outdoors, under a canvas awning and surrounded by trees. There are heaters so it doesnt get too cold, but I recommend wearing socks/layers and bringing a blanket, at least for the evening classes. All of the teachers are great too! I’ve been on the hunt for a new permanent home for my yoga practice since moving to a new neighborhood a couple months ago. I tried a few studios near me in Little Italy, but did not feel they were the perfect fit. Despite the fact that neither of Riffs studios are super close, I saw they were offering a deal for 30 days for $30. I could not pass that up! Plus the locations are so prime, I don’t mind traveling a little out of my way to go to the beach! It’s been about a week now and I have tried a variety of classes with all different teachers at both the bird rock and OB locations. Every class has had something new to offer. Every teacher has been kind and knowledgeable, offering expert cues that have improved my existing practice. The bird rock outdoor patio is unsurpassed for the largest and most beautiful practice space I’ve seen in San Diego. If you like the occasional heated practice, as I do, the OB location offers a wonderful warm vinyasa class. Free street parking is available fairly easily at both locations. I think I may have found my new home with Riffs, and definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking to deepen or renew their practice.

The most incredible space, teachers, and experience. Warm smiles as you enter and set up in their cozy outdoor yet warm & enclosed space. Every teacher begins class asking the students to introduce themselves and say a little something, such as how we are feeling or what we appreciate at that moment, followed by a collective sound of om, breathwork and intuitive flow. The sound healing at the end of some classes is the most magical feeling. I actually enjoy that they don’t play music during class (which surprises me) but it allows you to be fully immersed in your breath and body. Very special studio! Had the amazing opportunity to join the Riffs yoga community this past weekend at their La Jolla location. Met the owner and lead teacher Karina and it was everything that we were looking for. A real yoga experience, not the new fad yoga classes you see everywhere flying through the poses just to get a workout. I can’t say enough good things about Riffs! First, the atmosphere of this place is so lovely. Please note that this is an outdoor studio with live music which makes it unique from any other yoga studio I’ve practiced at. You’re surrounded by gorgeous live plants with a canopy for sun shade and infrared heaters for chilly nights. There is also a small indoor studio for the rare occasion that it rains. This might be anecdotal, but if you’re really sensitive to smells like I am, being in an open air studio really helps me focus on my practice and breath work without the distraction of stinky friends. The instructors here are all fantastic and have a strong foundation in anatomy, the history of yoga, and a healthy dose of spirituality. This means that they’re breaking down poses, integrating a deeper meaning into the physical practice of yoga, and teaching you what’s best for your body as opposed to what looks the coolest but might be injurious down the line. I am so glad I found this place. Yoga outdoors is such a lovely practice. San Diego is the perfect place for it but there are heaters for the slightly chilly days and sun shades for the sunny ones. I love this studio, the location and vibe is amazing! I’m so grateful they have remained open and offer outdoor classes during the pandemic. Only reason for four stars is that they have their prices set to increase due to popularity. During the pandemic when classes are largely not available at other studios I have seen drop in prices as high as $40. That said I have enjoyed the yoga classes and especially the special event sound healings offered here 🙏

This hidden gem is an oasis for personal growth and inner transformation. The yoga instructors and guides are so lovely, personable, and immersed in living a yogic life. Riffs in Ocean Beach is a great Yoga Studio; complete with a variety of courses and instructors to provide the practice that best suites me, they even including sound healing! Every class has been good for my practicer, the teachers are very kind, professional, and observant to ensure the class is flowing to the skillsets of the participants.I purchased the 4x/mo package and ive happily been motivated to use these passes each month. My body and Spirit are thankful that Im back in a studio and taking time for my well-being; Riffs is a perfect place for that.

Riff Yoga now has two studios: it is the best of both worlds. The Bird Rock one is on the deck and always has fresh ocean breezes. The new studio in Ocean Beach has a lovely indoor studio with high ceilings and is very serene.See how you feel the day you decide to go to one or the other.

This studio is a little gem behind a music store in bird rock. My favorite studio in the area...and I love each and every class along with each and every teacher. Every time I go to Riffs its always a different experience and thats how I love to practice yoga. And everytime I walk out of there, no matter if its a Vinyasa with live music or a restorative yin class or Robins uplifting anusara class--I feel like I received exactly what I needed that day. By far the coolest, and best yoga studio I have ever been to. The sound healing classes are so powerful. The vinyasa and yin are great! Bird Rock is like a Yoga Retreat outside! OB is phenomenal with the gong and all the instruments. I love them both and its the best of both worlds. I used to do yoga 3-4 times a month, now Im 3-4 times a week! I LOVE this studio!

The community here is great at making you feel as if you belong as soon ad you walk in or set down your mat.Teachers that really pay attention to what they bring to each class. Ranging from careful hand on adjustments, helping with form, cards, to instruments to enhance class. I’ve learned a lot from teachers here.Live music is also another addition to select yoga classes that is really fun.The outdoor classroom is a perfect way to remember you’re in SD and enjoy a bit of nature while centering. I love the live music yoga, outdoor yoga and wide range of acoustic guitars that Riffs carry. I signed up for a 8 pack of ukulele lessons and had a great experience with Russel, one of the music instructors there. He taught me to play songs that I wanted to learn, which made it really enjoyable. I became a yoga member and love going to all the different styles of classes. Doing yoga on the outdoor deck surrounded by plants makes the whole experience amazing!

I have been practicing yoga for at least 10 and years and at riffs for about 1 year. I chose to practice here because of the variety of offerings as well as the music/sound healing emphasis. Outdoor deck is the perfect venue and always warm year round. Guides, especially those helping introduce new styles of yoga, are clearly dedicated to their work. The only room of improvement in terms of the overall experience are the loud noises (and sometimes bad smell) coming from Bahia Don Bravo’s parking lot next door when the garbage trucks come to empty the containers. Maybe a yoga gift card to Mr. Bravo (owner) or his significant one could help to gently send the message of the need to restructure the location of the garbage containers? I don’t know if it’s even possible but just an idea! 😊

Oh this place is great! Classes are done outside, on the covered porch. There are tropical plants everywhere and tons of privacy. Lights and heaters for those cooler nights. Plenty of space to practice. Easy parking. I love the vinyasa classes followed by healing sound (complete with a gong!) and their vinyasa with live music. They’re nice and challenging. I’ve also done their more gentle classes. It’s a bit of a drive for me (25 minutes each way), or else I would sign up for a membership. For now, I buy class packs and will try to do 1-2/month. I’ve already taken several friends here and if you’re wondering if you should check this place out, you should!!

When I found Riffs a few months ago after moving to San Diego, I knew right away I landed at a very special place with special people.Both studios are beautiful, with positive energy and knowledgeable teachers. I love the variety of classes from gentle, hatha, slow flow, yin, restore,sound healing, anusara, ashtanga, vinyasa and more. They really make Yoga accessible to everyone.They offer sound healing with some of their classes; adding in gong, drums, crystal bowls, chimes during final resting pose. Helps to release tension and relax deeper. They even offer longer sound healing events and Yoga workshops and trainings fairly often as well for a deeper dive into the practice.I am so grateful I found my home studio so quickly after moving to a new city. The community is so kind and friendly, I feel blessed to have landed here.

I usually go to the Ocean Beach studio. Its a large, clean, traditional studio with a great community. The Birdrock location is a a beautiful, shaded outdoor deck surrounded by greenery. My favorite two studios in San Diego. Robins Anusara classes are the best, I would recommend taking her class at either one.

I have been in San Diego for less than a month, but found my Yoga home in the first few days. At Happy U Yoga, with the great first month special, I was able to explore a wide range of yoga options and schedules. Absolutely every teacher at the check in desk and in the yoga room has been personable, making this SD newcomer feel welcome. Like many others, I have low back issues but have actually been able to avoid spinal injections that I needed in the past. Before I left Colorado Springs, I canceled my third injection appointment because of the benefits of yoga and hoped I would continue the yoga benefit here. I have! I am enjoying a combination of gentle Hatha, slow flow, restorative, and restorative with sound healing. The benefits have been to body, mind, and spirit.
