Despite coming in hot with an issue with their third party valet and laundry room, this hotel is a gem. Great location, views from restaurant and bar, excellent breakfast spread, and great team at the front desk and GM mark. Will stay here again despite our slight valet issue which hopefully is resolved quick.

If you do decide to book here, be very careful about where your room is located. There is a bar/restaurant on the second floor, basically right outside of a number of rooms with terraces. If you think that booking a room with a terrace would be a good idea, choose a different hotel. You will have ZERO privacy on the second floor, bar staff outside of your window at any given time and a bar party with DJ and loud people every Friday and Saturday evening. The rooms go at a premium based on the fact that they have a terrace, but the terrace is useless and you will have no peace on Friday or Saturday evenings.There were a handful of other issues with our stay, like how the rooms have no safe for personal belongings, limited closet space, non-working AC, only a fraction of staff speaking English, restaurant wait staff with barely any training, strangely unprofessional exchanges with valet staff, etc, but the way the hotel double dips by taking bookings for loud parties right outside of guest rooms clearly takes the cake.The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location, and they seem to be banking hard on it, thinking they can get away with anything. When it comes to our experience as guests, it was a major bait and switch - not at all reflecting of the Marriott brand. For the money we spent vs. the value we received, I unfortunately cannot give more than one star. My advice would be to take your patronage elsewhere.

If youre telepathic, then this is the place for you!! The lack of a sign for hotel parking made me drive around 2x until I decided the valet park is not just for the restaurant. The staff do not give instructions on which side is for Residence Inn or Courtyard. R is for the Residence Inn and its a different elevator. There are plenty of staff, but it seems they havent been trained well. Sad, BUT the hotels accommodations make up for lackluster staff. Oh, dont expect much for breakfast staff-ask me about the toaster.

Upon checking into the room, we spotted a couple of peices of Cheetos on the floor under the cabinet which I reported immediately to the front desk. The Cheetos were still there when we left a week later. Also, theres no body lotion in the bathroom.On top of it all, they charged us a $20 a night destination fee at check out; a bogus charge that basically jacks up room rate $20 a night without upfront notice.Parking is insanely expensive too.

I struggle with this one. Best way to say it is inconsistent. Front desk staff was very nice however my room wasn’t ready and it was after 4pm. The restaurant staff was just ok. I got a drink voucher since my room was not ready. Well if you wanted almost anything besides beer and wine the voucher could not be applied to an upgraded beverage. Pricing on liquor is way out of line from even fancy restaurants. So you know the voucher was $17, they charge more than that for a bourbon when the bottle is only $43 at the store. The valet is absolutely terrible. They don’t come and greet you. I had to flag them from behind the valet stand 100% of the times I returned. When I tipped them to leave it up front because I was just running up got the room for a few minutes they still parked it in the garage. Rooms are good, but very basic. No amenities in the bathrooms. Location is amazing for LA and away from the crowds. Plenty of great paces to eat. Check the Ritz and Marriott before staying here.

Great location and beautiful hotel. However, we had no air conditioning our entire 5 day stay. The staff has not done anything to comp us, they offered us additional points but now that we’ve checked out those points have never come through. We also left clothes in the room, our fault I know, but they “can’t find them.” We reached out to the General Manager, Mark, as advised by the weekend manager, and got no response. Disappointing for such a nice hotel.

Absolutely beautiful property for any occasion. Fantastic staff, rooms, pool, fitness center, etc... Very close to the beach, and all amenities. We loved everything and will most certainly be back.If you want a good table outside at the hotel restaurant, youll need to make reservations.

Great hotel! Well thought out layout with everything I needed to be very comfortable and happy and really appreciated the daily cleaning and complementary breakfast. The food and service at the restaurant was great - esp the seafood Cobb salad. My only complaint is I didn’t think the cooling/heating system worked very well. When I set it on auto - it just didn’t work. Regardless, I will stay here often.

We had no air conditioning during our entire stay and could not get an update from the hotel on when/if it would be fixed. They did give us point as a make good however we had to go through the corporate Marriott line to get them. Overall inconsistent service.

The location is beautiful. It is on one of the inlets that make up Marina Del Ray. Beautiful walks up and down inlets with lots of boats and the sounds of sea lions or seals. Venice Beach is blocks away and, if you are a runner, a beautiful run all the way to Santa Monica!One fault of the hotel is the fact that you MUST valet park. We like to self-park but this is not an option.We had trouble with our toilet flushing, which can be embarrassing. Toilets should flush! Or plungers should be in every room. We had to call down several times about it and it took over 3 hours before someone came.But in general, desk people were pleasant, breakfast was excellent, and I would return to this hotel happily!

Hotel would be nice if you get a nicer room like higher floor and harbor view. If not, I would say this Residence Inn is not recommended!Service is nonexistent - kind of messy, public area especially!$45 for overnight parking. Valet would try their best to park your car only, others they don’t care!Breakfast(free) might be 2.5-star, no need to expect for that.It’s a hotel for party or fun. Not recommended if you need a quiet room.

I cant say enough about our stay here. We flew in for a concert so it was a quick stay. The hotel was lovely. Breakfast was included with the room. We took advantage of the hotel pool. The atmosphere was very appealing being in view of the water. The one complain I could say is service was slow for dinner. Now granted we were in a hurry to get to concert it was evident that they were short staffed for the number of people dining there. We will definitely return!

This is the worst hotel ever. Surprised by a already occupied room. Walked in on a couple and all of us were shocked. Second thing we were put on third floor next to the bar and felt like the room was part of the party. No chance of relaxation or quiet. Third I have 6 over charges. Try calling the hotel and no one picks up. All in all I’m disputed 800 dollars in over fees for 2 nights. Absolutely worst customer service, worst hotel. For the price go somewhere else could have stayed at a motel 6 and got better quality. Beware.

I really want to like this property, it has so much potential, if only the hotel could get it together.Not even being at the hotel for a few hours and I had dirty kitchen utensils and hair in the shower. housekeeping was supposed to have resolved this issue, but I later found a more dirty utensils and a dirty pan.I had issue with the heat not working in the room. It seems it works in the living space, but the bedroom blows cold air. On top of this, there were ants crawling around the kitchen counters in the room.For those who enjoy tea (kettle) or toast in the mornings, you wont be getting either of the two here. the hotel does not have slices bread (which is standard at, every hotel), only bagels and scones. When I asked why they didnt have any sliced bread I was told It was brand standard and that this is a franchise property not sure what brand standard is being followed as every Marriott brand and property Ive stayed at offers sliced bread in some form. As far as the franchise, that should never be an excuse as to why something is or isnt at any hotel.

Great view on the Marina, great pub upstairs, and nice terrace for the restaurant. I appreciated much the washing machines and dryers, as I stayed many days. I regret that breakfasts are not freshly cooked, and I missed some fresh fruits. But, the beach is at 5 minutes walking!

Checked in at roughly 4:45pm, for what was supposed to have been a relaxing overnight stay, after a very stressful day. . It was anything but. First room, after turning down the bed, I found a nasty looking long thick hair on the sheet. Called room service and ask if housekeeping could come up and change the sheets on the bed, while I went down to the restaurant. Returned to the room around 8:00pm, exhausted and ready to sleep. Unfortunately, housekeeping left the sheets on the kitchenette counter waiting for me, as if expected to change the bed myself. Wow…I called down to the front desk to question and complain, as I did not reserve a room and pay room charges as such to have to arrive at the hotel and change what I perceived to be a less than inviting bed. The young man at the desk proceeded to explain that it was not out of the ordinary for quest to request new sheets and change the bed themselves, justifying why the sheets were left on the counter. An Unacceptable and frankly rude and inconsiderate explanation. I tried to explain I wasn’t one of those guest, and that his attention should be directed towards my individual complaint. I informed him when booking a room at a hotel, I was looking for, at best, cleanliness, comfort and convenience; otherwise, I would have stayed home. He seemed indifferent, and repeated himself. Whatever happened to quality customer service in a hospitality environment??? Moreover, at the rate the hotel charges, one would expect no less. Well, he put me in another room. An old corner room; bad to worst. The lights in the bedroom did not work. The engineer had to come up and flip the circuit breaker and the blinds on the automatic closure mechanism were inoperable. Small TV in the bedroom, where in the first room, it was at least a large 65” inch flat screen, mounted on the wall above. The small tv required me to have to prop myself up to see it, as it sat on a low table. It should have been mounted on the wall above the table for a comfortable ergonomic view while relaxing in bed. It’s unfortunate that under the circumstances, I wasn’t afforded an room upgrade to compensate for the inconvenience and the lack of hospitality. This was my second stay, as the first was a month ago and it was exceptional. As for the young man at the desk, I suggest more training. It’s called hospitality, and a guest should not have to debate an issue of cleanliness and convenience, when the accommodations fail to meet expectations. He did comp my parking, which I appreciated, but that did not sway my opinion of the entire experience. Needless to say, I will not revisit this hotel again. Very disappointed!!!!

Great hotel ruined by few service issues. The front desk won’t pick your call, can be extremely unfriendly, and worst ‘free’ breakfast (almost felt like a scam by the way it’s marketed). There is $45 valet charge each day which is ok and the valet folks are really respectful and fast. We liked the room and facilities which is why we rated it a 3. But for the price there is definitely better luxury hotels available.

Management, or the lack thereof, at this particular location is utterly heinous. During our stay, a front desk associate granted a stranger access to our suite without our knowledge or consent. Over 30 plus years of experience with Marriott, we have never observed such an egregious breach of privacy. Newly renovated hotel in the heart of Marina Del Rey. I booked this beautiful hotel last min for business and it was the best decision ever. I met with my clients at the restaurant that overlooks the marina. Great food and drinks... AMAZING atmosphere. I had the short rib tacos, calamari, Moscow mules & spicy margaritas are to die. One of the best residence inns I have been to. Short walk to Mothers beach. Great hotel staff. Will definitely be back with my family.

Currently a poor experience. Checked in at 1:30am after a long flight with my wife and baby daughter. Verified THREE different times (at booking, day of arrival, and on the way from the airport) that a pack n play would be in the room and was verbally confirmed each time.Arrive, check-in, - no pack n play in the room.Go back to the lobby and wait nearly 30 minutes for help. No one manning the front desk, the valet guy helps me try to find someone, no avail.It’s now nearly 2:30am, and no pack n play. Escalated through Marriott.Update: after an hour of trying to resolve - a mix of the valet guy and overnight security guard were able to help find a pack n play. Appreciate their help and not having to hold a baby to sleep all night.Update 2: upon completion of the stay - the property is very nice, the rooms are modern and well laid out, and the location is excellent. Early operational issues aside, the rest of our stay was great and I would stay here again. I have updated my review accordingly.

I reserved two rooms for a family event. My balcony room overlooked the marina and had gorgeous views. The downstairs dining area also has very nice marina views. My brothers room was the regular suite, it was supposed to be a water view but there was really nothing to see. The hotel is very neat, clean, and quiet, and close to shopping. The staff was very professional.

Beautiful relatively new hotel with large rooms overlooking the marina or city and ocean.Parking is pricey, but the city of Marina del Ray has several nearby surface lots that charge $6 to $10 for 24 hours, and you can come and go without having to pay again. The closest is about a quarter mile north, just south of Mothers Beach, and you can walk along the marina to get to the hotel.There are nice kitchen facilities in your room, and several grocery stores nearby including Trader Joes. Breakfast is included and is pretty good.

Very nice and new hotel, but the service and details are seriously lacking. I booked a room with upper level, partial water view. Front desk sent me an email before check-in saying that they will upgrade me to a full water view room. Arrived and only to find out that they were not able to upgrade me and ended up giving me a 2nd-floor room facing a wall. Asked the front desk about it and the front desk very unapologetically tried to convince me that the partial water view is just partial view and that blocked view was just expected. They also put it clear firmly that they are all sold out anyway and I can either keep that 2nd-floor room or switch to the 1st floor. Very frustrating and confusing communication.Other than that part, the hotel is very nicely renovated and the breakfast is decent. The view from the breakfast dining room is also beautiful. But there were a couple of other details they didnt get right on that day: the elevator had a strong smell of vomit; the fridge in the room had left-over food from the previous guest. Both of which seriously affected the experience of the stay.Overall, my take-away is that this is a nice property with lacking service. Glad that it was just one night on the way back from my vacation (which is probably why they dont care). If this is THE vacation Im taking then it would have ruined it completely. Will not stay again.

If youre coming to the LA area, do yourself a favor and stay here! Its a brand new hotel (so new that you can smell it) and is super modern. The studios here are so spacious and being right at the marina gives you an amazing view!Residence Inns by reputation are nice and give you space with all that you need in a kitchen to be home away from home. My kitchen has pots, pans, cooking and eating utensils, dinnerware, toaster, etc. Theres also a single cup brewer in the room. The kitchen is so spacious and has so much counter space with some wall shelves so you dont feel like everything is condensed and cluttered. This layout is much better than their sister property in Beverly Hills.The employees are super friendly and nice. At the moment, the only available parking is valet and you can request your car ahead of time via a link from a text message. Its super easy and quick!

There is no parking except for valet. My car was returned with the drivers side mirror broken and dangling from the door. The valet employees pushed me off to the hotel manager. Who in turn said she had nothing to do with valet and couldnt help me. She eventually called the valet manager, who never showed up to speak with me. A manager never called me or reviewed the cameras to assess when the damage was caused, as promised. So Im stuck with a broken car and a bitter taste in my mouth for this terrible service. Oh, and the cherry topper, its $45 for valet to park and destroy your car.

Beautiful hotel and modern rooms in a great location in the marina.The service is severing lacking when housekeeping is limited. When asking the front desk for coffee creamer we were told they did not have any and would bring it up. After several hours, we went to sleep and would try to ask in the morning. In the morning we called and asked for creamer again and they said it would be there in 20 minutes. After another hour passed we called again and received no apology and were told Come to the front and we have some here.The kitchen has everything needed and very clean. The bathroom had a shower setup that was nice, but the open glass door left it cold and took about 15 minutes for the water to heat up. Rest-assured if it seems like there is no hot water at first, it just needs significant time to heat. Not sure how well the rooms will stay in pristine condition over the years with some of the glass panels of the shower were leaking water already to the tiles of the bathroom floor.

I have mixed feelings about this property mainly because of the interactions I had with staff, the check in process lasted for over an hour, and there were erroneous charges in my credit card.I have visited LA before and had stayed at a Marriott property, this time I wanted to try something different so I booked for Residence Inn. Nonetheless, my second day I moved to the Mariott property I had stayed at in July and left residence inn.The room was wonderful and had great attention to detail from housekeeping. Location is perfect if you want to go boat sailing. Melina was wonderful in assisting me after my stay had ended. The night auditor was also very helpful in laying out the charges that had been made to my account. Overall, you might receive both negative and positive experiences from this place, but hopefully someone is able to recuperate you as a guest.

Stayed here only for a night, everything was good. Efficient service and friendly employees. Brand new hotel, room well maintained as well as cleanliness especially in this C19 period. Room also well equipped and with kitchen, comfy bed and great internet connection as usual. Got the room with the port of Marina Del Ray view. I like this little Gem of a Marriott Residence Inn. The only reason I did not give it a five is that they need to clean the carpets in the hallways & rooms better. Having said that there is a shortage of Staff everywhere. The staff is fantastic, from the front desk to Brizos restaurant where the chef came out to meet with us, as well as the housekeeping staff and parking attendants, who are contract and not employees. I normally take a ton more pictures but this trip was foggy!

I unfortunately wasn’t ableTo cash in a suite night, however, they gave me a partial view. I appreciate what the consider partial! It was a great view almost full view but they played it down so I was pleasantly surprised. From don’t desk to bar to patrons I had a great time. With the exception of the amazing location and the newness of the facility, this is the worst managed hotel I have ever stayed at....especially for a Marriott branded hotel. Almost to a fault, every single one of the staff are completely lovely. And, almost to a fault, everyone of the staff member are completely untrained and clueless. And among the worst offenders the GM of the hotel, Mark Murphy, who refused to return my calls despite reneging on a well-deserved up-grade that was assuredly by the front office manager, Ivah Brata.Also, and even more disappointing, when I called the president of the company that owns the hotel – it’s Marriott-managed and not Marriott-owned – Mr. Samuel Hardage, the Chairman and CEO of the Hardage Hospitality, when asked if he’d be interested in hearing about our experience at the Marriott Residence Inn, MDR, his response was, “NOT INTERESTED” AND FOLLOWED BY HIM HANGING UP ON ME! Guess that’s why the management at the Residence Inn/Courtyard By Marriott feels they can behave boorishly!

I had to switch hotels at the last minute due to an airline issue… I was already in a bad mood. I was shocked not only by this 21st century hotel that actually looked like a 21st century hotel - and not some dilapidated set of rooms in the shell of a new veneer - but I was also warmly welcomed, swiftly accommodated, and totally set at ease by the front desk service of Eliu Castellanos, who I’m only name dropping because his service really was that good. His accommodation not only exceeded my expectations, but actually made me want to stay in LA longer. Only con is that the parking situation is outrageously expensive, but what can be expected in any city hotel?

I will never ever stay here again they told me I could not upgrade when it was available on the website it was on hold just in case vip guess might check in and let me say I’m titanium elite member with Marriott. We get to the room and the carpet is coming up where the kitchen and living room meet my wife walk and a nail or staple stab her in the foot and make her bleed. And we call the front desk and they told ain’t nothing they can do and they can just basically check up because they are completely so we check in at 5:00pm and we check out at 7:30pm we spend 2 and half hours trying to see if they can help and they can’t and we are leaving trying to find another hotel, it a shame they treat me and my wife this way. They treated us funny the last time but we didn’t think nothing of it NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!

Great location surrounded by the marina and near the beach. I’m concerned about the high amount of waste this hotel produces as they have small plastic containers for toiletries instead of large bottles in the showers. Also, they throw everything away in the trash even though they provide a recycle bin in the rooms (I witness this regularly even though I separate recycle from trash). No recycle program? Why?

Where do I begin? When I checked in, the associate tried to slip in that I would be in a room at the Courtyard my 2nd day. He said it so fast and under his breath. I asked him to repeat the statement. I was not ok with that, as I reserved a room on the Residence Inn side for a reason. The manager stated the website oversold rooms, and so on and so forth. I wasn’t ok with this change, and she was acting as if there was nothing she could do. After going back and forth for a few minutes, I was given a room for 2 days at the Residence Inn. Why wasn’t this done to begin with?? All of this was so unprofessional. When i valeted the car, the valet told me “We don’t have bellmen, but I’ll get you a cart.” Didn’t offer any assistance outside of that. The valets never opened doors or anything.When leaving and coming it just seemed like patrons don’t matter. Non of the front desk employees greeted you or said anything for that matter. I am so use to much nicer hotels and being treated as if my business matters when it comes to lodging. The picture of the hotel on the website is very deceiving. It doesn’t look like that. I would probably never stay here again.

Stayed 1 night 4/10/20 for a wknd getaway and the staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and demonstrated professionalism. Job well done to the Residence Inn team... Only issue was a mistaken charge (do double check any charges) to our Room from the Brizo restaurant but quickly settled. Mistakes happen,glad it was settled, not going to let that be an impact on my rating on the overall stay. Ive stayed at many residence inn and was quite impressed with its modern touches and luxurious setting. I must say its elegancy is near equivalent to of JW Marriott brand thus taken by surprise of its top notch style. Location is perfect to where you can get some serene scene and not far walk to good eat options nor the beach for fun in the sun. We had a king studio suite w kitchen and marina view. Breakfast isnt the same as it used to be but thats expected with COVID times, thankful that the hotel was serving the complimentary breakfast. Will certainly stay here again

This hotel is not bad to know phenomenal location we love Marina Del Rey. The reason for the one star review is that they used to serve an amazing breakfast. Now they serve a disgusting unhealthy processed food and a plastic wrapper. and they claim the reason is because of Covid however at night I can order an amazing meal so somehow else safe to cook edible food at night during Covid but it’s not safe to cook edible food for breakfast during Covid. Excuses from people in the service industry who just don’t wanna serve their customers are ridiculous and need to be called out for what they are

A guy named Ediu who works at the front desk made my stay here PERFECT ! (sorry if I misspelled your name) . Thanks to him my check in was smooth & my first date with my lady went just as planned . The restaurant has great service & the food is worth every penny. Great atmosphere to just relax if you want to get away from the busy city life . Great find! Property is lovely and clean. Had a very enjoyable stay and the staff is fantastic.I had an issue with a 3rd party booking site that I couldn’t get resolved. The GM went above and beyond to make ensure all was resolved when he really didn’t have to do anything at all. Will definitely be back.

As an Ambassador Elite with spending over 150 nights in Hotels this is the worst!Location is great, but everything else is just bad! Too many useless manager’s and sleepy staff. A little confusing entrtance since they use common front desk with courtyard. DON’T PAY EXTRA FOR WATER VIEW!! I booked for water view room but they gave me just studio room so I asked to change it (I asked it through phone call but no one called me back on it so I had to go front desk) but they said there is no room available. They also said THERE IS NO SUCH TYPE NAMED WATER VIEW ROOM but only waterfront view room. I checked at website THERE ACTUALLY WAS (See the photo)! I checked up on courtyard and it seemed front desk was confused with courtyard room type. So I ended up getting cheaper room from what I was supposed to get. I opened a complaint case and it’s been 2 weeks but still no one followed up. Did I get disappointed? Sure very disappointed.

Eva was the first person I spoke with, I like to call to introduce myself before my stay. It was great when I finally got to meet her in person. I also had some interaction with Tracy, she was so kind and tried to help me with a few things. There wasn’t one person that we didn’t appreciate!This place is amazing as it turns out it’s just celebrated it’s one year anniversary. The rooms were great, spacious and the view of the harbor was fantastic. We sat at the bar for a drink, their food looked great, amazing. The restaurant is located in the lobby between the courtyard and Residence Inn. The workout facility looked nice, the pool is on the second floor and it looked amazing although we had no time to enjoy it.Wendy, thank you too, a hard worker.I WOULD RECOMMEND.
