I came to pick up my boyfriend a inner tube and didnt really know specifics about the tire on his bike but one of the young ladies Natalie offered to help me out and asked questions while she was trying to find out what products I needed, as well the manager was really nice and very professional, considerate and smart her name is Clara. Both ladies were awesome and I left happy.

They always have what Im looking for when it comes to my outdoor stuff. Ive found great ultralight backpacking gear, daypacks and fanny packs for hiking, good socks, hiking boots, travel towel, convertible pants, camping cookware. Ive also gotten a hydroflask bowl to take my lunch to work in everyday, works great. Anything you buy here, you have a year to try it out, if it doesnt work out for you, you can return it for a full refund. Im thankful for that because Ive had some items that didnt work out as well as I though they would for me, Ive returned and gotten what does work better for me. All the staff here are very helpful and friendly, they all come around and ask if we have any questions, and they are happy to help. I highly recommend REI for all your outdoor needs, and even some indoor stuff.

Absolutely LOVE this REI!The staff are really patient and take the time to make sure you get the right product.Went shoe shopping due to wearing shoes with a tight/narrow toe box (Hoka Speedgoat 5)An associate (sorry bro I forgot your name) in the shoe section took the time to bring quite a few pairs of shoes out to ensure I got the right fit (Got the Altra Olympus)I tried to return a pair of shoes that were a bit outside their return policy but Natalie was very understanding, gracious and went beyond the level of customer service I expected.Truly a refreshing shopping and customer service experience.Big ups to management for doing a stellar job here!Will be back again, thanks!

Like coming here and looking at the great camping gear. There shoe selection is good, nice hiking boots and the latest Hoka styles too. The only drawback, the prices. Was looking for a good bicycle, but the most affordable was still in the high $800s. Would ship here more often if prices were a bit lower but the REI Co-op does have its benefits.

Worst experience ever!! I went in to purchase a Mountain bike and I had the worst encounter with Leslie!! I had asked her for assistance and she gave me the most disgusted look and walked away. No acknowledgment from her at all!!. And to top off my experience she was the manager!! If she treats customers like this, I feel bad how she treats her employees!! WORST MANAGEMENT ENCOUNTER EVER!!

This is my 1st time having a less than stellar experience at REi. The store was nice but the main problem was the female cashier with a nose ring not acknowledging a line of 8 people for 20 minutes and when she does it’s to tell us she is not going to help us right now. The obvious thing to do is to call for backup but didn’t even do that another associate walked up and decided to help us luckily.

Be aware - REI doesnt give refunds for purchases that only have a gift receipt; only store credit. Its not written on the gift receipt itself or told when the purchase was made, and I couldnt find it on the website (though I didnt look hard; but it shouldnt be hidden there anyway). This confused my mom who purchased a gift for me and left me the gift receipt thinking it was an easy return.

Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Most of them are outdoor enthusiasts. They have major sales at different times of the year. If you are a member, you earn dividends on your purchases, and they have a superb one year return policy. You can score superb deals on their semi-annual sales which is mostly returned or used stuff. I spend a lot of time and money at that place.

Cool store, very nice and organized. I went to pick up an online order and it was nice I didn’t have to wait in line. There was a sign with an “online order pickup” and a button that you pressed. Associate was great, I had my item in less than 3 mins after clicking the button.

The clothes are nice. The quality of the clothes are nice. The shoes are nice. The quality of some of the shoes are good. I purchased a pair of Keen brand River shoes. I spent over $130 on the Keen brand River shoes. After awhile they fell apart. The side of the shoe ripped. I brought the shoe back and explained what happened. They didnt even give me a discount on my new River shoes. My new Keen brand River shoes were over $130. For the amount I spent ony new River shoes. They could have given me a discount.

A very nice place for all active life style apparels, gears and equipment, foot wears for all form of sports and activities. Prices are a bit higher but thats to be expected for wide selection of quality products offered back by REI exceptional guaranty. Stores are well staffed that are friendly, helpful, patient, very knowledgeable professionals. Lots of free parking and well stock clean facilities. Highly recommended.

Pleasant environment to shop in. Fun to walk in and browse all their stuff. Lifetime membership is $30, definitely worth it. Some of their sales are great, if you cant afford to buy anything today, just wait for a sale. Their items tend to be of good quality and will last you a while. They have pretty much everything you need to spend time outdoors in any way! They even have books and maps. Emergency supplies, too.They even have a good selection of items for dogs!

UPDATE: Everything that I loved about the company is no longer true. Members no longer get dividends that you can cash out. Its no longer a co-op but a corporation, members cant even attend board meetings or vote for board members anymore, only preselected candidates, selected by other board members.Whats worse is how they treat employees, a quick google search for, rei mass layoffs or rei retaliates on union employees will show their true corporate colors. So why pay extra for that? Might as well support local businesses or spend less online, without being constantly asked by multiple employees if youre a member or if you have their Mastercard, if you want a peaceful laid back shopping experience, this isnt it anymore. Poor employees are forced to upset memberships and Mastercard now, or their hours will get cut. This translates to every customer being nagged at, even if youre already a member.

They just have removed a bunch of registers because they have a line stretching halfway through the store and the last three times I have come here I pick stuff out. Try to stand in line for a bit, line doesn’t move . Then order online. Get more registers and hire more people. More products in your store taking up cashier space doesn’t make it better, it makes customer experience worse. It’s never been this bad here and whatever is convenient for the company, downsizing, is not what’s best in the long run. Won’t be shopping in the store anymore, why, when you can just buy online.

While it was one of the biggest REI stores Ive been to, the line wrapped all the way to the back of the store. After standing there for 10 minutes, I went and put everything back so I didnt have to stand in line for what would have been 30+ minutes. Its better to order online than go to this location.

Ive been going to this store sporadically since 2009. Its changed a lot. (I remember when they used to have a rock climbing wall) I have gotten most of my camping gear here, and most of the shoes I buy came from this REI. The staff have always been helpful as well as very knowledgeable. If you need any gear for climbing, camping, or biking... This is definitely the place to go! Couldnt recommend it enough.

As with most REIs the staff here is super friendly and helpful. They have fairly typical selection of inventory. I would love to see more color and size choices for their Garmin watches. Its also unfortunate that they dont do ski tuning here, since this REI is closest to Big Bear (Burbank is the next closest rei to do ski tuning)I am grateful for their curbside pick-up service. I really wish people would not occupy the reserved curbside pick-up parking spots for regular shopping.I dislike that they allow solicitors to stand outside the front doors.

I was being helped by three sales reps after walking in the door and asking for a specific REI item by name. They could not find the color or size I wanted (despite it being shown in stock on their website), so two of the reps wandered away and the last one offered to search in the back. Apparently a customer looking at clothing on a rack while waiting for a sales rep to return is intensely suspicious.While I was waiting a member of REIs security team could be heard giving an update as to the fact they had eyes on me, my specific location, description and exactly what I was doing. It seems the REI security team believes that they are both invisible and inaudible when talking on their radios. I know security personnel arent the best and the brightest, but these people were flat-out idiots. They also apparently believe one of their members could make merchandise disappear despite having nothing but a cell phone and wearing only jeans and a long sleeve shirt. I am many things, but a magician isnt one of them. The last time I was so obviously followed around by store security was when I was 13 years old, and thats longer ago than I like to admit.Ive been an REI member for 25+ years, and this stores security team was just plain offensive. It would have been equally offensive if I heard them talking this way about another customer. If REI is having problems with shoplifting this company needs to find a transparent way to handle it and competent people to do the work. REI has failed on both counts.News reports say REI is continuing to have financial issues. Todays treatment of this long-time customer will add slightly to those issues.

I went in looking for roof bars for my Outback. After waiting for about ten minutes for assistance a guy asked me what I was looking for and then said he would have someone help me in about five minutes. After 15 minutes (yes I kept track), no one came to assist me so I left. I know I dont look like the usualREI shopper but that shouldnt keep someone from being helped. Ill go to the Burbank store to see if I get better service. I wont recommend this location to anyone.

This is a great store with lots of great items. If you want to be active you want to check out what they have to offer to fill your needs. I went for some active wear footwear. They have quite a selection and I found something that works and is the seventh pair I have purchased over more than 20 years. I each case the footwear from boots to sandals were ready to wear with comfort immediately.

Most of the employees all have outdoor tips and tricks, so if you’re going somewhere there’s a chance an employee has been and will be willing to give you little bits of info about it.

If I could give this place 0/5 stars I would. I went in looking for some hiking boots/shoes and the storefront person told me to go to the back. Cool. I go to the back and they’re slow, but there’s also quite some people and only 1/2 employees working the shoe section. Reasonable. I leave the shoe section and I decide to come back, the shoe section is now empty. One of the employees comes back and is helping someone, great! Almost my turn. Another employee asks the shoe section employee to help their gf find some stuff. Love REI, but for some reason the quality of staff at this location has been in decline. They used to all be friendly and helpful, but many of the recent hires are neither. The employee who rang me up didnt make eye contact or say hello (a first for this REI, really) and then struggled for a long time to remove the security sensor from a bag I wanted to buy, until finally, he asked if I saw another of the same bag. I said yeah, I’ll go get it. By the time I came back, he had removed the sensor for the first bag but we kindly asked if we could purchase the second bag I brought up in case the first one was punctured after all that struggle. Another employee tried to talk us out of it because he thought there was no difference, but we said we’d prefer the second one if possible, and he said, “Whatever you want,” and tossed it and walked away.

This is for the cycling department. They never seem to have much inventory as other REI locations. The product selection is poor if they ever have anything. It’s as if this location wants you to buy everything online at the REI webshop rather than stock up in store. I live in between this location and the Burbank location and foolishly thought they would have panniers in stock. They had three small camping type panniers and not one could hold my computer. So, guess I’m shipping to my house.

I went there for running jacket as well as trail running shoes, both staff were able to help me and tell me pros and cons as well as specs of each gear since I couldn’t make up my mind. Kim is the GREATEST person when it comes to shoes! I did a video try on with her, which turned out to be incredible. She looked at my feet and was able to make a great recommendation for some boots. I have foot problems, but she was able to make recommendations based on how I walk. She definitely deserves a raise! I couldn’t have asked for a better overall experience! Thanks again! As a patron of REI for over 10 years, it is disappointing to see this companys service and product offerings decline so much in recent years. They still carry most of the quality brands but their house label gear is much in poorer in quality. Service has become only a little better than a Big 5. This store in particular is always a let-down. I am of fairly average build and they hardly ever have anything in my size: always small or XL only in clothing. Today I collected an online order and the baby carrier they pulled from the floor for me was clearly a returned item with a missing manual, creased material and obvious signs of wear. Luckily they had another one in stock so I asked to switch it out.l, but cmon guys...

Theyre pretty informative if you need help picking out gear or shoes. There are plenty of supplies all around for different types of outdoor activities except fishing. Pretty limited in that area. 4 stars only because its expensive. Most things are gonna be cheaper on Amazon but its a good place to go if you need something now.

As a brand new bicyclist, I took my new bike to the bike shop at the Arcadia REI to have new pedals installed and to have some minor adjustments make to the seat height. Steven, a bike tech at the REI, completely took me under his wing and not only installed and adjusted my pedals and seat but provided a wealth of information about my new bike, answered all of by newbie questions, checked the bike over thoroughly for additional issues and corrected them and provided guidance on the gear I needed and gave me a great start on the road to being a cyclist again. He took his time and really gave me the personalized assistance that a new cyclist needs to get on the road !!

I eavesdropped and it actually changed the size of the shoe I was getting. I verified with another associate. But they definitely push the REI membership on you if you arent a member.

This is an update from my original experience 2 yrs ago. I TRIED to shop here last night but I did not have the best experience. Waited 30 minutes for SOMEONE to acknowledge us. And then we were not properly addressed either. I want to say it was a size issue. I am a large woman. The other people in the shoe area were not. There was another woman slightly larger than myself who also did not seem to get the best service. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of service I received. I spend a lot of money here every year and will now have to travel farther for another REI store. Worth every penny as I did a 20 mile hike right out of the box- no break in time and havent got a single blister ever in them.
