The place is awesome, I just moved into town and needed a great LBS and this place is it. Love chatting with Steve anytime im up there the guy is fun to talk to. I even told one of my buddies to drive to this bike shop to purchase a new bike instead of one closer to him lol.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Had my bike in for a tune up and after about three weeks, Rays had replaced the shifter hub and installed a new chain. What wasnt addressed was my rear tire not holding air. After I got the bike home, after about a week and a half, my rear tire was low on air still so the issue was not resolved after my $140 tune up.UPDATE***Rays Cycle called me after seeing the above review and asked what they could do to resolve the tire issue. They asked me to bring my bike to their store and they would fix the tire issue. While I waited, they replaced both front and back tires with no labor charge and a discount on the new tubes. I have to tell you, they took real good care of my bike and now it runs perfect and no issues what so ever. My tires hold air and the bike runs nice a smooth. Rays really did a great job, took care of my bike and took care of me. I am VERY satisfied and I would highly recommend Rays for your cycling needs. They are the best!

I seen the reviews on google and knew this was the bike shop I had to go to. They were not only the best rated in my area but had the most ratings as well. I didn’t know much about bikes before but I assure you I know a little something now. Ray was there to personally help me pick a bike and thoroughly explained the difference between a handful of them. I ended up going with a cherry red Trek Verve 2 and man is this bike high quality and smooth. Not only did Ray pick the perfect bike for me but he taught me how to switch gears, take off my front wheel and a few more tips and tricks on top of that. He even helped all the way up until the very end putting it in my car with me. Ray’s Cycle has superb bikes and customer service! I’ll definitely be going back for tune ups and gear. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

I bought another bike from Rays Cycle and I couldnt be happier with the customer service there. They helped me set up the suspension and even sent me a video to further assist me if I wanted to adjust it. I had a great experience shopping, selecting and fitting for a new bike! You can’t test ride on online shopping so this was an extra bonus to be able to ride the bike before buying it. Friendly staff and excellent customer service. Justin worked with me to get a difficult-to-find part for my bike and communicated with me throughout the process. When the part finally came in, Justin called me, and Colin and the mechanic team installed it right away. My bike was ready to go the same day and is running better than ever. I went to Ray’s to look at bikes for myself and my son. I knew they would have a good selection but I didn’t expect to be treated so well. Ray helped us not only select bikes, but he did a custom build for my son so that he could test it out, told us about local trails we could try and entertained my son by letting him look around at the old bank vault. Everyone was super accommodating. They went above and beyond. I wouldn’t hesitate to send friends and family to Ray’s. I know that they will be treated right and made to feel like there’s support matters. Shop local. Shop Ray’s. ❤️

Jim and I went in for curiosity and to ask about my old recombinant Schwin which a friend gave to me as a birthday present.I lived in North Dakota at the time so my bike was unfortunately in my garage and now needs TLC.Braden, ( I hope I spelled your name right) came to my rescue when the first guy went for back up.Braden gave me a shop to go to that could assist me better as well as answering other questions I had.We looked at new Bike Helmets ⛑ (purple ones of course, hehehehe.He was very thorough and loved his job as well as great with the public.I did not buy anything this time but that helmet ⛑ I will come back for.5 out of 5 stars 💜💜💜💜💜

I had a great experience here. I went in a week ago looking for a mountain bike and ended up riding three bikes. The salesman was very knowledgeable, treated me as a valuable customer even though I was only looking to spend about $900-1000, and didnt try to sell me something I didnt want. I didnt end up buying a bike for myself from Rays, and chose to buy a used bike instead. The only reason for this is that I tend to buy and sell things quickly, so Id rather take advantage of someone elses depreciation. However, yesterday we decided to go shopping for a bike for my wife and, considering she tends to keep things forever, we decided to buy a brand new Specialized Ariel from Rays. Had I not been treated so well the first time around I would not have come back. They will get all my bike-related business in the future. We will be back for a bike for my older son soon. Thanks again!Update: Fast-forward a few weeks and I went back to buy new bikes for both me and my son. Ive had the same awesome experience every time Ive been in there. Awesome place! I am interested in getting a decent bike, possibly a road bike but knew nothing about fancy bikes. I wanted to sit on one and test drive one. The staff at Ray’s are very friendly and knowledgeable. I literally knew nothing about bikes and they were very happy to teach me. I was able to test drive a few and every time I rode one, they checked the bike for me. Every time! I was super impressed :) Test driving different types of fancy bikes encouraged me to do more research so I didn’t buy one today. But when I am more informed and ready, I will definitely go back to Ray’s! I highly recommend this place

First off I want to say how exceptional the service was for each time we visited as my boyfriend and I were deciding on the best bike for the both of us. Each of the employees were very friendly, helpful and professional every time we were there. Christian helped us both and was very knowledgeable in the field. I especially was extremely appreciative of Ray (the owner) for graciously giving me special attention in providing 101 lessons on getting on/off the bike, showing me techniques in starting to ride, shifting and stopping. I fell off a bike in my first test ride and was a bit apprehensive in trying again, but Brook encouraged me to come back where they can provide a little more time to help me gain my confidence back, he offered but was going to be out of town and said anyone in the shop can help me. We came back a couple of days later which is when Ray helped me. With the lesson I received, I gained my confidence back and that day bought the bike I test rode and my boyfriend bought his bike as well. Both my boyfriend and I are new to the sport mountain biking/riding and each employee/owner was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions! I would recommend to anyone looking to buy to go to Ray’s Cycle. I promise you will not be disappointed!

This was my first time buying a bike from a professional bike shop. I was used to buying cheap throw away bikes, but Im tall and they were uncomfortable. I needed a large frame bike. I came into Rays with my three little ones, and the guys were so welcoming. I bought a beautiful step through bike and was able to take my kids on a 6 mile ride in their bike trailer for the first time in almost two years. It was exhilarating! I should also mention that after test riding four bikes, I ended buying the very first one they recommended. These guys know their stuff.

My partner and I have have bought 2 bikes each from Rays -- cross trails and now road bikes (cant wait for them to be built and ready to go) - not too mention quite a bit of gear. We have checked their prices against the competition online, and they are always competitive and often the best deal. We stop by nearly every weekend on our rides and everyone is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Ray himself is a gem -- hes in the shop regularly, ready to help, educate, tell you about the local riding conditions, and to make you feel at home, even as a newbie. My experience at the Fairfield store was really awesome!! They stayed open on Saturday after hours to sell us the gear and bikes, and they even let me ride the bike in the store. Also they helped me put a bike rack on my van and helped me get the bikes on the rack. They gave me tons of tips on how to care for my bike and how to use the gear shifts; I have not been on a bike in years, and that was truly helpful. Let me tell you the experience was more than great. They are very professional, respectful, and very knowledgeable, specially the gentleman with a mustache and dark sunglasses.

I needed a pair of cleats for a pair of bicycle shoes that I bought online. I asked Rays if they had them. They did. The cost was 20 dollars.. 7 dollars more than the same I found on line. OK .. no problem. I asked if they could install them. I was told it was easy all I needed was an “Allen wrench”. I said yes “I don’t have one. The manager said “leave the shoes with me. I will install them and call you when they are ready. He called 2 hours later . I went to pick them up and he charged me $20 dollars to put 2 screws in 2 shoes. I was screwed. I wonder how they handle other customers needs. I called another bike shop and asked what they would have charged. They said “nothing “ it would have been free. I will not return to Rays.

Horrible experience. Talked on the phone with Ray to purchase an expensive bike, for which he offered a deal if payed in cash. . I repeated the deal twice on the phone, and next day even called on the phone to review since I had 1 hour drive to Vacaville. When i arrived Ray changed to story and said that it was a “miscommunication problem”. Too bad that he made me loose 2 hours of my day. I think he was just trying to get me into buying the bike. Would not buy from him even if he had the last bike on Earth.And i have looked up on Yelp reviews that the same thing happened to “Stephen B” on the 5/25/15. Was it just coincidence??? He says they tried to charge him THREE TIMES the value that he was told over the phone. Interesting indeed...! Maybe others affected didn’t bother to take the time to write their part... too bad.

Took my bike that was in garage for years there. They checked it out and told me what I needed done and what would need to be fixed later but would be ok for now. He had my bike done in one day. They give 10% discount for military retired or active duty. Real nice customer service. I put a real nice 3 wheeler on lay a way for my wife. Good place to get bike work done and they seem very honest and not just trying to get your money. Will use this place again.

The biggest problem with Rays Cycles is Ray.. 2nd problem is the store is way too small if there is one other customer in the store its cramped. 3rd their prices are very overpriced. 4th what they tell you on the phone and what you pay in person always 2 different prices never in your favor. And finally the kicker buy a new bike from them and your first tune up is only $90 what a deal! Oh wait everybody else does your first tune up for free😖 well at least youll have crabby Ray who always has to make a comment around.Its hard to leave this review about a local shop as ive purchased 8 bikes from rays in over the last 25 years every time it was a less than stellar purchase, every service over the years you stuck it to me, every part i bought was over priced. Rays has been in Vacaville forever as a local I just sucked it up because I wanted to support local business. Im done the place is completely overrated.

By far my favorite bike shop on the North American continent! I will actually wait till I am in California to purchase something if I can so I can buy it from this awesome shop. I have been going here since I first got into cycling in 2011 and they have always been helpful and informative on any cycling subject.They are always accommodating and helpful whenever they can be and always have friendly service. This is the shop to go if you are a cyclist in the area. This is the shop for the road cyclists and mountain bikers compared to the shop Mr. Bicycle a block down the street, which I always found to be fair less helpful and catering primarily to the fixie crowd and having limited selection.Be advised though that they often have a lot of bikes they are working on at any given time, so unlike the reviewer before me thought, dont think that you can just drop-in and expect a full tune up that morning. Just like with your car, it could take a day or two, not an hour.

I just purchased a nice medium sized hard tail MTB from Rays. It is a great bike, and the staff was helpful when it came time for me to choose a bike. However, when I went and took the bike back in for a tune-up (which they offer one time for free after purchase) they messed up my bike. My back brake didnt work right after the tune up, because they didnt tighten down the bolt that holds in the brake cable. They also repositioned my front derailleur incorrectly, which caused my chain to come off the sprocket and bend my sprocket. All in all, the purchase was great but I wouldnt recommend getting your bike tuned up there. If your looking for a local bike store, stay away from the Rays branch in vacavulle and try the Fairfield one instead. It is much better.

Accidentally let the air out of my rear shock. They got it to the correct psi, and explained the adjustments on that particular shock. I had a couple of other questions and they all got answered even though it was 15 minutes to close and there was a line! Ill probably need a new crankset soon and Ill definitely take it there.

Overall I like this hometown shop. Ive purchased a Burlee Bee carrier and odds and ends over the years. I understand all the Covid 19 precautions, but Im to the point where I am tired of standing in line outside every time I need something. Ive gotten to the point of frustration that my annoyance with these policies has led me to drive elsewhere or buy online. Again, I can understand the 6 thing, masks, etc...Nobody wants to get anybody sick, or have their business penalized, but Im kind of confused as to what the point of these ultra restrictive store policies is in April 2021. I would much rather support my local businesses, but at some point whats the point?

I asked a young man that approached my wife and I if they carried the Fuji brand, he said they did not and just stood there. I asked if they carried a product that was “comparable” and he said “No, I wouldn’d know what to compare it too.” I said I would just look around and as he started to walk away and I started browsing he comes back and asked me for the model (Fuji) that I was interested in and takes me over to a bike that was double the price.Basically, poor salesmanship, piss poor attitude and the young man was more interested in getting back to his conversation with his friends or other staff. What he truly failed to realize was that I was actually shopping for two bikes, one for myself and the other for my son, his Fuji was recently stolen.It is very unfortunate that this young man failed the most basic lesson of business - communication. I hope the owner of the shop is content with missing out on sales.

A bit high priced compared with Mr Bicycle just one block away. The employees have an attitude for non-serious bicyclists, unless youre the only customer in the store...then they may condescend and give you some attention. Snarky and sarcastic is the rule, however, especially if their high-end customers/buddies are in their. I went in early in the morning...first customer in the shop as advised by owner for a tune-up so that I could be out of there by end of the day and at 1100 was told Id have to come back on Monday...they were too busy with a guy who has a $4,000 bike being worked on...in other words the measly $1,000 wed spent there wasnt enough to be worthy of preferred customer status. They all need to read some Dale Carnegie and get a clue!

Never Again! I have purchased probably eight bicycles from Rays Cycle over the years for myself and my family with no problem. A few years ago, I splurged and bought myself a Stumpjumper Specialized Comp for approximately $2,700.00. After very limited use, I recently brought the Stumpjumper back to Rays Cycle for a full inspection and tune up for a cost of over one hundred dollars. After I got it home and before riding it, I noticed that both the front and rear hydroulic braking systems were frozen and the bike would not move. Again, I took it back to Rays Cycle to find out what was wrong and ask why the brakes were not inspected during the recent inspection/tune-up. I was told that brakes are not inspected on a routine inspection/ tune up. Really? Sounded bizarre to me because I would think brakes are like one of the most important components on any bicycle or car. It gets weirder....I was told that because the braking system on my years Stumpjumper was such crap that Rays Cycle would not repair them, even though the bike was purchased there and was told by the same joker at the time that this model was nothing short of amazing. I was told that what Rays would do would be to replace the old crappy braking system that they sold me with something else which would cost over $300.00 in parts alone. No thanks dude, found another bicycle store.

Id like to send a special THANK YOU to Phil for his amazing customer service. I had a broken crank set that was under warranty through SRAM. Phil did a fantastic job keeping me updated on the status of the replacement cranks. Long story short, SRAM took 1 month to send a replacement part... but because of Phils due diligence, he expressed his frustrations with SRAM regarding their delays and lack of communication, SRAM sent an upgraded crankset (carbon) for the trouble. When the new crankset arrived (expedited shipping), Phil replaced the new crankset, tuned-up my bike and called me the same day for pick up. CHEERS TO YOU PHIL!!!
