One of the best restaurants in the area. the menu is always rotating and has limited options but everything is chef curated so bound to be good. the non alcoholic drinks are little overpriced but good. our server was a bit too enthusiastic to the point where we could tell it was fake and made us uncomfortable but was friendly. the salad was 10/10 w the roasted eggplant and the dessert was also very good and low in sugar perfect for us. the chicken could’ve been less salty but still prepared really well. the vibes in the restaurant were really good and employees seemed to get along really well.

However, once inside, the environment is calm and inviting.Inside: The interior has an old-style, simple aesthetic with wooden structures and an open layout where you can see the bar and the kitchen at the back. The dining area is cozy and accommodates many guests despite its smaller size. The lighting is low and warm, with yellowish tones that make the space comfortable and inviting. Each table is adorned with one or two lit candles, adding to the cozy ambiance.---- Food Quality:----Steak for Two: We had the steak for two, a bone-in ribeye about 24 to 30 ounces. It was cooked to medium-rare perfection, juicy, flavorful, and had the distinct taste of dry aging. The steak was comparable to those from high-end steakhouses.Appetizers: We tried the full salad, which was fresh, green, and fluffy with high-quality ingredients. The cheese and breadcrumbs added a delightful touch. I have been to Range life countless times, and every single time it has been on point! Food is delicious, craveable, interesting and above all, clearly very well sourced. The cocktails, wine and beer pair so well with everything. Every time I come its hard to not order the entire menu. The service is great and the vibes are perfect. At this point Range Life is an institution in Livermore. Definitely one of my favorite Bay area restaurants and worth the trek from SF or Oakland for sure.

More like: Deranged Life!My partner and I usually refrain from writing a negative review, unless it is absolutely warranted, and well…in this case, it is undoubtedly is.In light of the bad reviews, we trustingly leaned into the positive reviews, which starkly fail to reflect the realities at Range Life.Deciding to try out this proclaimed new age bespoke farm to table dining experience, we have been left feeling dissatisfied and let down!Firstly, in regard to our personal experience:The bar was welcoming, well staffed, and friendly, though on the matter of seating and service - the dining arrangement itself felt awkward and unconsidered. The seating configuration left us feeling exposed and restless.Furthermore, the menu felt foreign and hard to digest; as if reading a borderline offensive parody of fine dining. Given the lack of insight into the ingredients of the various dishes, a mishmash of confusing flavors at a hefty price left a disappointing and confounding first impression.No, this is not an exaggeration.Service was prompt and friendly enough, though awkward and somewhat disorganized for a restaurant claiming such esteem.For appetizers, we settled on the Washington Manila Clams. A decent portion; alas, they were underwhelming in terms of flavor and most egregiously- undercooked! When we addressed this with our server, she retorted that they were steamed and this is how the dish was supposed to be served. However, the uncooked clams were absolutely inedible.Continuing onto entrées, we ordered the Marin Coast Halibut and Flat Iron Steak. For the steak meal the mashed potato was watery and disappointing while the spinach was bitter.The halibut had been well made - the second time. The first time, it had been overcooked; not what I had expected from an acclaimed kitchen.This halibut was buried under a pile of both undercooked and overcooked fava beans while mustard overpowered the delicate flavors.Addressing this with our waitress, she offered to have the dish remade thankfully. However, when I received the second meal there was even more mustard than the first dish. A confusing meal prepared by a seemingly unqualified chef - disappointing!Our experience was a travesty of mishandled food as well as awkward and standoffish service.Operating under delusions of grandeur, Range Life and its owner(s) have historically replied to criticism of their restaurant and guests poor experiences with a sore lack of respect and humility. Thus, I see that not only is the galley and crew hopeless, their captain is quickly steering them steadfast towards the rocks.We will not be dining at this establishment again. Your money would be better spent elsewhere.

I cant believe we slept on this place for so long! One trip made it our new date night favorite. The food is exquisite, the service is exceptional, the atmosphere is great. We especially love their back patio. We usually order at least two snacks, two apps and two entrees and then just take home the leftovers. 😂 Its a rotating menu and were always excited to try what new things theyve created. Reservations are recommended but they do accept walk-ins when they can accommodate so try them first!

Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The food was phenomenal (highly recommend the bone-in pork chop if its on the menu). Halibut was also very tasty! Wife and I went for our wedding anniversary (left a comment on the reservation) and they surprised us with a congrats glass of tasty champagne and Happy Anniversary on the paper menus. The beer and cocktails are good, pretty much what you get at any nice place. Our server Laura was amazing. I have a real goofy personality and constantly embarrass my wife but Laura ran with it and had fun with us. She was very nice, on top of things, and accommodating. Oh, get the deep fried cabbage and pepper appetizer. So damn tasty with their homemade dipping sauce. The ambiance of the restaurant is great too. Nice chill vibes where you can still be yourself. I highly recommend this place! It is pricey but know you are getting top quality food sourced locally by the chef, great service, and a great overall experience.

Very nice farm to table restaurant. I liked the atmosphere and ambiance. Cocktails were very very good. Tried the stuffed summer peppers with coppa, and the eggplant with flatbread. I’d go back only for the flatbread… it was amazing. We tried chicken and lamb. The lamb leg was mildly undercooked, but the chicken was spectacular. Overall good experience and would recommend.

My wife and I recently dined at Range Life and unfortunately, our experience fell short of the expectations given the price range of the place and its Bib gourmand award. While some dishes were decent, others left something to be desired.The first appetizer, the feral heart snow peas & Korean radish, was disappointing and not worth the price as the flavors did not complement each other. The second appetizer, the beef tartare, was not bad, but the fried shallots overpowered the tartare.The entrées, the gusanito beans and roasted chicken, were decent, but with no new or interesting tastes and pairings. Additionally, the chicken portion was enormous and may have impacted our dining experience. The dessert, milk and honey ice cream with honeycomb, was fantastic, but unfortunately, the honeycomb was burned. When we informed the server, she replied that it was intentional, but in my experience, honeycomb doesn‘t have to taste like this.Compared to other restaurants with the Bib Gourmand award, Range Life falls behind. During our visit, we noticed areas where the staff could improve to enhance the overall guest experience. Implementing a unified dress code would create a more professional atmosphere; clearer and louder communication at the table would be beneficial; staff could be knowledgeable about the wine list to make recommendations based on guests preferences, and ensure no cork residue is left after serving wine by the glass.In the end it felt odd to have the bill placed on our table without any acknowledgment. A simple inquiry about further dining or drink options would have made us feel more valued as customers.Edit: Add one star to the review if you set the expectations right. In the end, it is one of the nicest places with decent food around Livermore after all.

I don’t get it. The food was gross. I ordered the pork. Funny story is that I couldn’t find it between all the breading. I think the spicy sauce is given to deter you. The side dish was so so bitter I wonder if anyone had ever tried to palate it beforehand. I also had something else that was bitter as an appetizer, needless to say, my mouth does a strange thing when mentioning Range Life. Now my husband, He ordered a flat iron steak. It was definitely not! We both left half a meal there. by the way the staff SHOULD wear uniforms. I have been there several times. In the beginning it was great! Over time there has been a slow decline in quality and pairings. The staff is distracting and my husband and I had a good laugh at the dance of who was staff and who wasn’t. In the end it was money well spent

Great personable service adds immeasurably to the very very good food. Food was perfectly paced and was a nice change away from highly seasoned food most restaurants are featuring today. Here the foods tastes are so very complimentary to each other in a dish. Portions are just right. While parking can be a problem if you are disabled there is a temporary city lot open to all opposite the restaurant and down a bit.

A disappointing experience overall, considering the price point. The food was OK, but generally I found somewhat uninspired and unbalanced. The fried shallots overpowered the beef tartare, which lacked the expected beefy flavour. The pork loin was cooked perfectly, but the accompanying ingredients didn’t add to the dish—it was just a very large amount of (perfectly cooked) pork. My wife and I visited Range Life for the first time last week, knowing that it had received rave reviews. It didnt disappoint. I had the Ham Chop, which came with cherries as a great accompaniment. My wife had the halibut, which was both delicately flavored and nicely seared.The building looks historic i.e. a detached brick structure. I write this since the buildings size and age adds to the ambience of the place. They have a pretty extensive wine list and several interesting local beers, both of which we sampled to accompany our food.Shout-out to our wait person (Kendall), who was very attentive but not overbearing.Well definitely be back!

Cute desert-themed decor and big windows give this place a clean, sunny and relaxed vibe. The brunch menu was fairly simple. We chose the Smoked Salmon Toast (4.5 stars, get it!) and the Black Bean & Farm Eggs (3 stars, Mexican dish with a flare, I like the crispy tortilla, but the whole dish is a bit bland). Price is high for the small portion ($14-16 with no leftover to take home). We had heard a lot of good things about this place so we decided to try. The roast cauliflower was really good. I would defiantly get it again. For my entree I got the pork tenderloin which was ok but not very flavorful. My wife got the sweet potato curry which was pretty good. The service was good but slow. I could never tire of the house bread, which underlays (figuratively and sometimes literally) the cuisine. Just wow. I tell people that its San Francisco food at San Francisco prices, and it is head and shoulders the best in Livermore.EDIT Now serving brunch, Range Life continues to be the best, and the most exciting restaurant in Livermore. The luminous interior, tack-sharp staff, distinctive bread, greens so fresh they still have dew on them, cocktails that speak of Livermore, what more can I praise? Oh, yes, the wine list, which has excellent local and international selections, such as Ryme vermentino, for reasonable prices.I can’t ask for more than food that tastes even better than it Instagrams, and service to match. It feels like a tiny part of San Francisco has been transplanted into Livermore, and I can’t wait to go back. The only downsides are that it’s small, only a few tables, and the prices have also been transplanted. But who can say no to steak tartare served on superb bread, with a shaved pickled egg adding a pop of flavor and color? The cocktail program is outstanding, particularly the coyote smash, which is made with coyote mint, like you’ll find growing wild south of town.If Range Life doesn’t get a star, it will say more about Michelin than the restaurant. I just hope that Livermore is capable of supporting a true fine dining destination.

While the entrees were well prepared, though we didnt care for the vinegar sauce with the fried pork, the garlic flatbread was disappointing. The bread had a burnt edge and was super thin in the middle. The burnt flavor over powered the garlic and the elastic center was difficult to tear or cut so you end up knocking the cheese off. While I cant afford to visit again the bar staff were excellent and had an attention to detail everywhere could strive for.

I will not recommend Range Life. I had 7 pm reservations for my birthday, after waiting around for 40 minutes, we were finally seated, I understand it’s not their fault that the people at the table did not leave but doesn’t make my whole experience any better. I’ve been to many nice restaurants and I felt this was not acceptable… I will not go back and will definitely not recommend restaurant to any one.

My friend showed me this place a while ago and it has now become a regular spot for us to grab dinner & drinks! They have an eclectic menu of delish food that you could only get at range life. I recently had their cod dish served with peaches and it was AMAZING! It has a cute yard area in the back, perfect for a sunset dinner. I recommend this place for a nice bite, but its also a great date spot! You must come here!!

5 stars don’t last forever. My last review was perfect. It was my favorite spot in Livermore. The food is fantastic. But today, the portions were so small that it took me 2 appetizers and an entree to feel somewhat full (by myself) and the corkage fee went from $20 to $30. Not cool. The wine list is not to my liking and that’s okay, I like to bring my own wine. At least I did when the corkage was reasonable. I ordered the flat bread after my entree instead of dessert because I was still hungry. I would love to return my rating back to 5-star. @rangelife The ball is in your court

My wife and I have come to Range Life on several occasions including our anniversary, Mothers Day, and her birthday. Service, food, and management were much below expectations during all of these visits. We frequent many restaurants in the Bay Area and were very surprised Range Life did not live up to our expectations. We continued to give it a chance, hoping the first few times were off and it is near our favorite Livermore winery but we will not be going again. For the price it is not worth the unkind service and so-so quality food. I would not recommend. There are many other nicer restaurants in the area.

I don’t get impressed easily by service but boy he was fantastic. He kept checking all the tables he got, service was very prompt, friendly and kind. We will def. come back.Oh it was first time visit and parking was little tricky for us. There was no connected parking but huge city parking lot right across the street. I have an almost spiritual experience each time I come here. The depth of love and care crafted into each dish is a testament to the dedication they have to the integrity of their ingredients. Their custom cocktails are so thoughtful and creative. Everything balanced . Always as local as possible and so fresh it feels like you’re eating the season. Their tomato salad was so fresh and bright, bursting in my mouth. The ham chop was succulent, briney and the flavor reminded me of spam in the best way. I really enjoyed the food and the overall dining experience. They were pretty busy when I was there, so it took a bit of time to get our meals. The halibut was great, and so is the levain bread. They also make a great Japanese-style michelada. Their food and drink prices are rather high, but its still a good place to have a nice meal once in a while.

When we got home, our mouths were super dry as well from the sauces and tons of salt.Service was fine and our waiter wasnt anything special nor personable. He didnt refill our water or turn on our space heater though which he did for others so thats another ding.All in all, not sure Id recommend this place for what you get. This was a fantastic dinner. It took SLIGHTLY longer than expected for our cocktails to arrive, so the manager comped then for us - totally unnecessary and very sweet. The garlic flatbread was simple and delicious, and the tuna crudo, roast chicken entree, and pork Milanese entree were all pretty much perfect as well, but the highlight of the evening was the lamb belly appetizer. This was one of the single greatest composed dishes I’ve ever had. The owners live across the street from my elderly parents. At the start of the pandemic, they left a note on my parents door offering whatever help they could--they even noted that they had access to toilet paper through restaurant supply chains! I dont know about you, but it makes me happy when I know the money I spend is going to good people. Just make sure to book a reservation as it’s a smaller restaurant.Long version: I’d envision this little hip urban spot in some newly gentrified hipster neighborhood in Oakland or San Francisco but it’s out here in Livermore which is cool because who wants to deal with parking in this cities. I’d recommend the roasted brussel sprouts with the yuzu lemon and mint. It’s a refreshing taste on the tbh, tired roasted brussel sprouts with sea salt that every restaurant serves up. The food service was excellent on a Saturday night and you can tell they’re staffed to be customer focused. I was not expecting it with this restaurant but they replaced flatware and silverware between appetizers and main course, wiped the table down between courses, and were quick and attentive. The cocktails are inventive, eclectic, and refreshing. The tables around our party all ordered multiple rounds, tasting the different offerings which maybe speaks to the quality (we certainly couldn’t taste them all in one sitting but will work our way down the list on revisits). People have balked at the price and I guess for downtown Livermore, yes, it’s slightly more expensive but this isn’t your typical Livermore restaurant and given the quality of the food and the food service, I don’t see their pricing atypical. Overall, we’ll be back but highly recommend you book a reservation as the restaurant is on the smaller side.
