Finn’s had his fair share of Dr appointments and hospital stays which have ultimately caused him to be quite wary of any kind of office visit. Because of this, we put off his first dental exam and elected to clean his teeth at home to save him any extra stress but alas the time had come for his first go’round. We are so proud of him and grateful to the team @puresmilessouthbay for making his first dental visit so wonderful! Not only did he feel secure enough to follow Dr. Kimi, he got up in the chair on his own and sat through a whole cleaning!6/13We had another great visit at Pure Smiles, it’s totally worth the drive from Palm Springs and we’re so happy to have found a practice that utilizes a holistic approach to oral care. Finn gets so excited when we tell him we’re going to the dentist!5/24I realize it’s probably silly to keep reviewing the same place but we just love this practice so much. If only all professionals in healthcare were as passionate and knowledgeable as Dr. Kimi and her team! Most dental practices are going to treat your issues with a bandaid, but Dr. Kimi will take her time to educate everyone on the necessity of certain vitamins, diet modifications and interventions if absolutely necessary. Despite brushing and possibly due to early antibiotic exposure and mouth breathing issues, my first born developed a pretty advanced cavity behind one of his front teeth early in life. When we first came to the practice I thought we were going to have to fill the tooth but Dr put us on a protocol that has the cavity now completely arrested! With maintenance we’ll be able to keep the tooth as is and he will loose it on his own. We drive 2.5 hours each way to come to this practice but it is so worth it and we are now bringing our youngest son to her practice, as well :) It is worth noting that the hygienists are all very friendly, knowledgeable and communicative with the children which I believe is a major contributing factor to how my now toddler has sat through cleanings since he was 2 without issue.Always a wonderful experience! Wow! Took my daughter to her first dentist appointment and I absolutely loved it here. They educate you on nutrient dense foods to help you help your child have a healthy mouth. They have genuine care here for your children. I cant say enough good things. I could cry as I write this because Ive had such a hard time trusting dentists. This is definitely the place to take your children. Thank you to everyone at pure dentist south bay. You were all so sweet and helpful!

I love bringing my son here, the staff are super sweet and helpful. My son has special needs and all the dental assistants & pediatric dentist are super patient and super kind to my son when they’re working procedures on him. We are treated so well at Pure Smiles! The waiting area has a play room that feels like you’re in a treehouse full of fun toys. The hygienists are all so nice and great with the kids. Both Dr. Kimi and Dr. Diana are so knowledgeable about oral and sinus health, not just teeth and gums. There are TVs on the ceilings for the kids to watch a show while their teeth are cleaned. It’s amazing! Cannot recommend enough!

Just what I was looking for! This dental office has brought me such peace. Here I know my children will get excellent care without unnecessary toxins. Dr. Kimi is wonderful and informative. Although I wish this office was closer to where we live, I dont mind driving in a few times a year for this level of care.

Great experience. Dr. Kimi and Katie were beyond wonderful. I really enjoyed how much time they spent in educating us and actually talking to us which no provider does nowadays. Also most dental practices nowadays seem to focus on making the most money but here they werent like that at all and there was no pressure to buy products even. Staff works really well with you to try to cover as much possible with insurance. Love that this office is holistic dentistry focused and Im very happy with the visit.

Initially came here to get a 2nd opinion because of one of my daughters recommended treatment at her dentist which was through Medi-Cal. Dr. Kimi is absolutely the best! She was able to save my daughter tooth and provide good honest treatment. She really opened our eyes with everything from nutrition and proper oral care for our 4 kids. Even though Medi-Cal is not accepted here and I am forced to pay out of pocket, its worth it!

I was able to get an emergency appointment in a timely manner. They fixed my daughter’s gaping cavity efficiently and painlessly. The laser they use is amazing. No Novocain injection was needed. I love the holistic approach and they laid out a regimen to heal some other areas in my daughter’s teeth naturally. I highly recommend.

I cant state how impressed I was with Dr. Kim and her staff. My son required work on a cavity and he was scared. The expertise of the staff in easing his nerves was very coming for me as a parent. I was nervous that my son would not be able to tolerate the procedure. With the help of the staff I saw a level of bravery in my son I didnt think was possible. Kuddos!!!

My three-year-old daughter has visited this place several times, and each experience has been wonderful. I particularly appreciate the option of a happy visit before commencing appointments, which helped establish a positive rapport prior to her initial check-up and cleaning. Despite being somewhat reserved, my daughter felt at ease with Dr. Kimi and her assistant, who handled her with care. DR Kimi office looks amazing and is very well kept. As a doctor she also is amazing, my son went for a tongue tie and a lip tie, and finding out that he also has a slight cheek tie. She was able to release all of them within five minutes. She handled him with Care and I felt very comfortable with her service and her dealing with my infant child. I did a lot of research before choosing a dentist office and didn’t find one that really compared even though there may be other great ones out there. She is also an Out of net work provider so that’s something to keep in mind when visiting. But I was totally OK paying out of pocket for a peace of mind.

We love Dr. Kimi. We recently had our second visit with her for our toddler, and both she and her assistant Myra were so friendly, pleasant and informative. They made us feel welcome and more importantly, made our toddler so comfortable with being at the dentist. At our first visit earlier this year, she was scared and got a little emotional and they were so kind and understanding about the whole thing. By the end she was smiling and happy and excited to come back to see the dentist next time, and we had lots of instructions and information on the growth of her teeth and jaw and exercises to help with proper jaw growth. At our recent second visit, they took the time to go over her recommended mouth exercises again and Dr. Kimi even sent over a video of the proper way to do them. They are out of network, but to us its worth it to pay full price for the care we receive and the fact that she takes a much more natural approach to dentistry. They also submit to insurance for you which is nice.If youre looking for a new dentist for your kids, or a holistic dentist, I would absolutely recommend Pure Smiles!

We’ve been there three times this year as as a new patient and this last time (cleaning only) just went so fast -it’s great that they let you watch even adult vs kiddie Netflix during treatment and it’s great that they let kids over 18 (esp special needs) who need only basic dental cleanings and exams still go to this practice. The hygienist is so sweet, happy, and friendly. We drive an hour to and sometimes two hours home just to go to this holistic pediatric dental practice. Very pleased. Check them out!

I was blown away by this place and Dr. Kimi. It was so inviting with the murals and little play area in the front and fun colors everywhere and my daughter didn’t want to leave! Dr. Kimi asked my daughter a ton of questions about her oral care habits and her diet (which is genius because kids don’t lie 😆). I tried to let my 6 year old answer most questions. Then Dr. Kimi took the time to educate her about ways to take care of her teeth and healthy food choices, in a way that didn’t feel like it was just good/bad. And it worked because my daughter got in the car and was going to eat her left over Cheerios and she said “this is a sticky food and not the best for my teeth” 😆 We were there for a 2nd opinion/consultation and I felt confident that she recommended what is best, not what brings profit. She was empathetic and kind. I’m a speech pathologist and once she started talking about myofunctional exercises and structure I thought “this lady knows exactly how to get to the root problem. I like her.” We live an hour away and it’s probably too far to do regular dental care here but I’m highly considering it because it was that good. She offered lots of educational resources on her favorite products and sent a follow-up email with demonstrations on how to do the exercises. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a more holistic approach to kids dentistry.

Kiddo had to have a baby tooth pulled, due to a cavity that had become painful. The team at Pure Smiles managed to get us in RIGHT before a planned road trip, at short notice, and they did it with good grace. The whole process from scheduling to final check out was simple, professional, gentle and completely tailored to our needs and preferences. You cant ask for a better dentist and office. The office is decorated so kid friendly and is so inviting. My kids began having cavities at a young age. We were at another dentist that wanted to fill them all but Dr Kimmie was able to recommend a way to remineralize them with a regimen that works. We did have to fill some and even pull one but she is so gentle using laser and the least invasive procedures. My kids have a sensitivity to nitrous oxide and she has been able to do all of their procedures without it. For the most part my kids have handled it so well because of her great bed side manner. They love going to the dentist. I cant say enough good things about Dr. Kimmie and Pure Smiles.

Last week I took my son (5yo) for the first time to Pure Smiles with Dr. Kimi. It went incredibly well! I love how they send videos and book recommendations to prepare your child to not be anxious or scared of the dentist. I also LOVE the decor in the office. Very kid friendly and beautiful to boot. My son felt right at home with all the toys in front and in the office. From Sandy in front office to Dr Kimi, to Vanessa the dental hygienist they were all amazing with my son! You can be rest assured that your child will be well taken care of there.One huge aspect of what I loved is that Dr Kimi has everything holistic in the office. I was pleasantly surprised as a conventional Registered Nurse turned holistic mom/nurse. I love treating things naturally and non toxic and it’s a TOP priority for my family. This is truly WHOLISTIC dentistry, as it should be. From a fluoride free office (because who can give a neurotoxin to a child, in good conscience) to giving dietary recommendations to helping a child redirect mouth breathing to nose breathing and explaining why, I was blown away and wish I had known this practice existed before O turned six. Absolutely amazing! I am so happy I found dr Kimi. Her and her team are so great at what they do. I have a 3 year old who had some tooth decay and pretty deep back cavities. I went to a few dentists in my area and wasn’t happy with any and did not feel comfortable getting dental work done. They weren’t warming and my daughter didn’t seem very happy at all. I know I wanted to find a biological holistic dentist and was recommended by another mom. I am so so happy I took the leap and drove down south to the office. My daughter loved all the toys. It was so welcoming for a little one! Everyone there was just great to her and I and I appreciate that so much! It’s so worth the extra money and the drive from a normal dentist office. We tried getting x rays at two different offices and my daughter was not having it and we came to dr kimi and we got them! The office is so clean and cute. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Our original dentist told me my child has 3 cavities and since he didnt do well with nitrous oxide, full sedation was recommended to get fillings. Not wanting to do the anesthesia route, I took my child to Dr Kimi for a second opinion. She actually said his teeth were ok and may just have discoloration. So we were able to avoid anesthesia (at least for now) and Dr Kimi gave us a lot of guidance on ways to make the teeth stronger - something almost all dentists will not discuss! The office was very transparent about billing as well. Overall, a wonderful first visit and I am so grateful we found her.

Dr. Kimi is the most amazing holistic dentist. She is so sweet with the kids and knowledgeable. She looks at the entire patient, discussing a healthy diet and supplements that promote healthy teeth. I can’t say enough good things about Pure Smiles! We were recommended to them through our chiropractor for a tongue tie consultation for our third baby. Dr Kimi was so patient, knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. She made sure to take her time, never rushing us, answering all our questions and giving true informed consent about the frenectomy procedure. She gave a very realistic picture of what to expect with the healing. The procedure was fast and she handled and cared for our baby in a very maternal fashion which is important to me. She followed up via text message that day and the following morning to check in. We’ve yet experienced such compassionate care for our children! The entire staff was beyond kind and helpful and the office itself is so nice! We wish she saw adults :) because of our positive experience we plan on switch our other two children’s dentistry care to Pure Smiles!

Incredible dentist and team. We are so thankful to have found you! Dr Kimi gets it. Finally :) we have some genetic stuff going on. We have a homestead to get the best food and I make everything from scratch. I care about what goes into my family’s bodies and am intentional. Looking for answers when you have done everything you can do as a mom is not easy in this world that puts money first. When dentists only answer is “use fluoride” or “don’t eat fruit” and you know it’s a deeper root problem, it is a frustrating feeling- like you know more than the dentist but you are paying for their expertise. Dr Kimi is well researched and I finally feel like I have someone on my family’s team who knows more than I do. Yay! She was able to look at my two year old and preform an advanced procedure within the first hour of meeting her! My daughter doesn’t let any stranger near her and she was happy listening to every word and very cooperative for her. Miracle! She has a joyful and kind presence. I Am super grateful that I found Dr. Kimi. With her holistic approach I know my kids and in the best hands. My mind is at ease that we won’t need to do unnecessary procedures. This is the best place to be for our children. I’ve looked for a holistic, biological dentist and we drove really far to have our kids seen by Dr. Kimi. The people who works here are extremely nice and good at what they do. They respect you, treat you well and the atmosphere is ideal, clean, peaceful and welcoming. We took our almost 18 month old in for his first check up and were glad we found this gem of a place. We had an overall great experience. Super friendly and informative. I love that she is not like your traditional dentist. My husband and I were more than happy. My little one also did so great with her and he was so excited to meet Chip (their dog). Cancelled before bc it was too expensive for me without in-network insurance, but saved up for my 3 y.o. daughter to get seen bc it’s worth avoiding dental trauma (like I had) and I appreciate their natural, identify the root cause, non-invasive approach. Very thorough explanations and patient with my daughter that felt way too comfortable the moment she walked in. I guess that’s a good thing compared to our other dental experience where she never wanted to go back despite trying to prep her in advance. Grateful that this doctor wasn’t quick to say, ok let’s add a filling or drill into her tooth since she’s got a small cavity despite me flossing and brushing since she got her teeth. Remineralization seemed to be the protocol for my daughter and two other patients that were there and I just wish this was taught to all dentists as well as the effects of mouth breathing and tongue ties. The consultation, cleaning and application of a silver bacteria killing solution (IDK the terminology) was about $550. SO expensive for us, but hoping for preventative steps now so we don’t have to go through what I went through as a kid, with my daughter.

Dr Kimmi is the best! She saw us the next day when we figured our my newborn my a tongue tie. She give natural remedies for pain management while also giving the option and dosage for pain relievers if needed. We went to see her again to see if the tongue tie had reattached and she advised not to treat it and to try to fix what issue we are having by other means first. I was SO hesitant to come to a dentist’s office with my one week old son to get a possible frenectomy and was honestly so torn with what dentist to choose, but I’m so happy We went with Dr. Kimi. She and her entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, answer our questions and soothe this own mother’s trepidations. They had the entire office cleared out for his procedure, it took less than 5 minutes and the exercises following have been totally doable. She even texted us that night to make sure everything was going all right. Also, her office staff helped me navigate insurance, which I greatly appreciated. Highly recommend! I definitely felt supported by them through the process (the consultation and all procedures- he had lip and tongue tie- and follow up visits were included in the price) and never felt like a was just another patient to be billed. My daughter’s (21 months old) first dentist appointment could not have gone better. Dr. Kimi first met with us in her office, similar to a Naturopath appointment, to get to know us and our family dental history and daily habits. She was very informative, holistically minded, and answered all of my questions. I have a degree in Nutrition, which I did not disclose, and it was a breath of fresh air to hear so much of her passion for the nutrition aspect of dental health and explanation of the nutrients that are critical to a developing mouth. The entire office is inviting yet modern, and the front waiting area has a for real treehouse sans tree. I also left with the cutest little mug-shot-style Polaroid photo of my daughter holding a sign that read, “First Dental Visit.” It’s a keeper. My wife and I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Kimi and her entire office! We took our 2-month old to her because we were informed he had a tongue-tie and wanted to remove it via laser frenectomy. After a quick tour of the office and consult with Dr. Kimi, she identified that our baby not only had a tongue tie, but he also has a lip tie and buccal ties on each side. She was able to remove all four ties for the price of one. Not only that, but she also gave us her personal cell number and followed up with us later in the day to see how our baby was doing. Follow-up Review:I received a call from Dr. Kimi this morning. She explained why they are out of network of our insurance. The second operator is temporarily taking over this job that she is not quite familiar with. As I said, the experience with Dr. Kimi on my sons first visit was quite joyful. Since we have a solution on this problem, I am willing to recommend Dr. Kimi as kids dentist due to her profession and kindness.Old Review:I was so disappointed with our experience here. I doubt they scam people out of money even when it is 100% covered by insurance.Since we moved, I was looking for a new pediatric dentist for my son. I searched online and found here. When I called to make an appointment, the customer service was very nice and confirmed they would accept my insurance which is Delta Dental PPO.It was a pleasant to meet Dr. Marran on the appointment day. My sons teeth were just checked and cleaned without any complex procedure. But when we checked out, we were told their dental clinic is out of the insurance network. We had to pay first and the insurance company would send the check to reimburse later. I asked if the teeth cleaning for kid is 100% covered by insurance and got the positive answer. They charged me $220 for teeth check and cleaning to my son. I had concerns on such expensive cost. But they convinced me saying Delta Dental is a good insurance provider and would reimburse me within one week or two. Therefore I paid and left.Two weeks later, I received the bill from Delta Dental and showed they only paid $105 for this teeth cleaning for my son. I have to afford the expense of $115. I was shocked with the amount only for a kid teeth cleaning. I called their office yesterday and asked for the extra money they charged me. This time the customer service, named Jennifer, was not as kind as when they received my son as a new patient. She said she had no idea and could not reimburse the rest of the cost with a extreme tough attitude. The extra expense was on our own. What a joke! First, the teeth cleaning to our whole family with any dentist before are all fully covered so far. Second, if I was on a risk to pay for the extra expense, I had the right to know before I paid. Third, I do not think it was reasonable to pay $220 on a child teeth cleaning. They were not considerate at all. All the purpose to convince me on the large amount was to expect me to pay in advance. Last, their attitude changed a lot from service day to the day I inquired of the short reimbursement.I am writing this review hoping no one else would have the same experience we had. Please learn from my mistake and DO NOT go here.

I brought my daughter here and am planning on transferring all my children to this dentist. They were amazing and everything they recommended we implement into our dental care routine at home they sold right there in the office so we were able to leave prepared for success. Would give more stars if I could.

We always have the best experience. My 4 year old recently started coming to Dr. Kimi and her and her staff have made him enjoy going to the dentist. The day after our appointment, he asked “how long until I go to baseball and the dentist again?” He’s looking forward to his next visit already! lol it’s funny but great! I especially love that nutrition gets asked about, as well as remineralizing protocols. We were watching a cavity last year and followed the protocol everyday…. We ended up not having to do anything with it and his past two appointments were all clear from cavities!
