Hello! I recently started taking job search class at the Portnov Computer School. Before that, I’d never looked for a job in the USA, and I didn’t have any specific knowledge about how to do it. I came to the Mikhail Portnov class: “USA Job market” as I was not able to find job for about 1 year in USA after relocation. I thought I know everything after this year, but I was surprised that I still got much new and useful information on the course and I started to understand more deeply motivations and goals of participants of a job market.After my resume was updated using recommendations I started getting much more calls from recruiters and invites to interviews. A job market looks down now, but at least I have possibility to train myself on interviews. :)

Taking QA Flex program at Portnov Computer School was my best life changing decision made in 2017. I didnt have a background in Computer Science or any IT related field at that time, but wanted to switch the career path. Since I had a full time job in a different field at that time it took me some time to start applying for QA position. My only regret is that I didnt start to apply right after the course completion. After revising the program material and constant study I got my first job offer from multinational financial company. Moreover, while working as a Manual QA I also took QA Automation Silver Bootcamp in Java to boost the career and this was truly one of the best investments. If you want to kick start a career in the IT field, Portnov Computer School is the go to place for training. I was a bit skeptical about a career change, however taking up the SQA course in Portnov has been a life changing experience. The instructors (Olga C & Marina G) are very friendly and patient. The projects we did in school gave us good hands on experience on software testing. The best part for me was their intense interview training (Thanks to Janna, Olga K & Anna). They prepare your resume, conduct a couple of mock interviews and provide excellent counseling on how to answer interview questions and ways to project yourself in the job market. Everybody is given an opportunity to get into an internship program. I landed a really good internship and hope to find a job very soon. The classes are well structured and organized and the school provides you all the materials you need to get good knowledge of software quality assurance. I also participated in a real time project and was able to participate in other projects which were going on at that time in the school. The schools staff is very helpful and responsive. I met many interesting people and made very good friends. I highly recommend Portnov Computer school as a quick career change option as well as stepping into huge IT world with strong knowledge of creating software from scratch and passing the ready to use product to users hands. The institute is great for people willing to kick-start or continue their careers in the field of Software Testing after a break. I was referred to Portnov by a common friend who landed a decent IT job after graduating from Portnov. I enrolled in the QA express program, I benefited a lot form the classroom training which other players in the market do not offer. I am thankful to all the mentors for taking all the pain to impart knowledge to the students and keeping the students engaged by giving assignments. After clearing, mid-term, finals, internship clearance, I finally landed an internship in a Bay Area start up with primary focus on Manual testing and a bit of automation. I joined Portnov School in the end of October 2012 and completed their QA Flex program in March 2013. What I can say? Guys, they care. They consider every student worth their time and help. I enjoyed the time I spent there. All teachers (Yana, David, Alex, Olga C) were very helpful, and Vladimir’s class of Selenium was the best. We had one 6-weeks test project during QA Flex, but we also were invited to participate in other interesting projects in our free time. Alex used to spend his weekends to help us with one of these projects, teach and organize us. In March-April I went through the mock-clearance interviews process, it was the hardest part. I worked full-time, and often wasn’t well prepared or couldn’t be at time on these interviews. Olga C spent a lot of her personal time to help me, explaining the areas where I struggled and advising how to answer tricky interview questions. In April, Sofia began to look for the internship for me. Guys, you can be sure, Sofia will find something that suits you, considering your background, your strengths and your weaknesses. Sofia has found the paid internship position for me, so I could quit my previous job. Now I am here: having internship in the one of the best of Hi-Tech Bay Area companies and still taking the classes in Portnov School. I recently graduated from Portnov, and I landed with a paid internship within a week. This school was recommended to me by a couple of friends, who are now very well settled with successful testing careers. I am glad I listened to them. This school is very good in preparing you to be a successful and confident tester with a strong foundation and the necessary skillset.The curriculum includes everything that you need to know as a black box tester. You are also taught technical stuff like HTML, XML, JavaScript and SQL which will help you in grey-box testing. Teachers are really good, who all happen to be very well experienced current or past testers. The best part is the real live project, where you could apply all that you learn in theory, and make better sense of it! I got to file some real time bugs, and also had the opportunity to interact with developers. This was a good experience for me that prepared me well for my real QA job outside.I had a little bit of IT background, but that is not at all necessary. Many of my classmates didn’t have any, but they all did fine. Of course, you need to work hard, listen to your teachers and do your assignments. Nothing comes easy! What you need to do is attending every class, concentrating, making notes, ask questions, do your home work and spend ALL of your free time studying. Olga Ks lecturing for the technical - SQL, HTML, XML and Javascript are very detail oriented. Olga Cs is very helpful. Once the theoretical sessions are over, they will train you for the final interview, mock and clearance where they will make a tremendous difference from other training institutes. They will train you in such way that you will not have the fear of facing the real interview. They will make sure that we choose the best words instead of better words. So it can take up to 3 months while a student is waiting for the internship.. After finishing school they give you the resume of senior developer. But indeed the student knows NOTHING except the poor theory about quality assurance... Guys if you want waste your time and money go to this school. Because staying in Bay area while schooling and then waiting for the internship may take up for 7 months and min $10000. Though i am not sure you can find easily job here after. Because things written in your resume are fake.. You pay for nothing.. Very disappointed how they take advantage of the immigrants...

I went to this school in August and graduated in October; I was in the QA Express program. At first, I felt a bit cautious on my first day because many of the reviews seemed too positive, so I went in not feeling completely sure. But after attending the school for a few days, I felt relieved in finding that the lectures are actually quite good and informative. The teachers are actually very caring and wish to see all their students succeed. Sofia, in particular, would not stop finding interviews for me until I landed my first internship. By the end of the program, youll understand a lot of QA testing terminologies and methodologies. I would never believe that it is possible to stuff so much new information in a head within 2 months. And these 2 months turned out to be enough to get an internship in a good company that produces well known software products. The job. Portnov has THE BEST and FASTEST QA program to get you into this filed. Period.Computer background is helpful, as you can imaging (because you will be working in the computer softeare field), but absolutely not necessary. There are many many students from all kinds of background, English, Engineering, Literature, high school...you name it. The school teaches you the basic staff you will need to be a successful QA. The classes are focused on three major areas. First is testing theory and practice, such as software QA, testing, testing planning, bug reporting etc, it get you ready as a QA professional. The second is all kinds of Computer knowledge, such as internet, html/css, javascript, Perl, Selenium, Quick Test Pro. This get you ready to work in the Silicon Valley. The third area is projects. Students work on real work commercial products in their projects. These products are or will be on the market. They are real projects, not the course project you do in community college. This get you ready for real world work.The best part of the program is the internship, where the school sends you to companies in the area. This is almost guaranteed. Many students turn full time after their internship, some of them found better job and move forwardThe staff in the school is really nice, like the family for students. Everyone is involved in teaching the students useful stuff and help them find job.I just started my internship with a company in Sunnyvale, and my boss has only one word for the interns in week one: “Impressed!” . Update: after one month after my internship was over, I got my first QA Engineer job!I took QA Express course in October 2016. This course gave me a solid theoretical foundation to start my career with. I get basic knowledge of best practices in software quality assurance testing, good understanding of SDLC, different types of testing, experience in writing test cases and reporting bugs and improvements, basic knowledge of networking, UNIX, SQL, Automation with Selenium WebDriver. We had a great opportunity to practice our theoretical knowledge in two life testing projects we have (web and mobile).One of the most important lessons I learned at School is understanding of the importance of self studying and self motivation. School gives a lot. Along with the knowledge, student have a chance to get hands on experience on the after school internship.QA Express course along with self learning gives a great solid base for a professional manual SQA Engineer.For the students, who feel like going deeper with testing, there are evening classes on automation and whitebox testing.

I am recently graduated and already found a full time job as QA Engineer.The school does give a chance to rapidly jump into IT industry with good salary and work environment. Sounds like a dream! However this is not for each and everybody. But if you feel comfortable to work with information technologies, have positive attitude, ready to study hard and follow the steps given by the school, youll get that.I hear some complains about the school. And I know where it comes from. If you think that just for the fact you pay money to school, you will effortlessly get high paid job, you will be one of that complainers.

Mikhail Portnov does not have any degree or education concerning IT-sphere. He boasts of having graduated from some unknown college in Russia 40 years ago though there no internet existed at that time.Portnov does not teach any IT at his school, but what he does teach is the cabbalistic skill how its better&more trustworthy to lie to the employer at a job-interview. Portnov is also selling his students falsified job-recommendation letters from his wifes registered company LASTH.These recommendations made by the company Los Altos Software Testing House are misguiding the employer that a Portnovs student started working in IT-industry way before the student even entered the school or in many cases way before he even came to the US. Los Altos Software Testing House and Portnov Computer School are in fact one company. They sit in the same office in Los Altos Plaza100% of the Portnov-school-stuff are not American-born. They speak very bad English

Studied online for 3 month. I got job offer on last day in class. Its not a fairy tale.But do not expect that school will make good specialist from you, if you will not work.
