So far, this is as close as Ive gotten to an authentic Italian Beef and Chicago Dog in SoCal. So happy Portillos is here and in Anaheim (cant wait to try this location next). Im happy to see both the interior and exterior look like the one in downtown Chicago. Lots of seating, staff was fast to clean dirty tables, ordering line was quick, and it didnt take long before my # was called to pick up our food. The dog was shorter than Id like, and Id swear the sandwich was smaller too than how its served in Chicago, but Im not complaining since its an authentic taste of the windy city.

A taste of Chicago, in California. Good hot dogs. Great Italian Beef sandwiches. If you like French Dip sandwiches, this is 10x better. It will change your life. Im told the Salads are also very good. Dont know, never had them, always get the Italian Beef sandwiches. Warning, can get addictive. Highly recommend.

Portillos hotdogs are incredible! Their Maxwell-style, served with mustard and sautéed onions, is just perfect. The mustard adds a nice tangy kick, and the onions are very flavorful, but the best part was the chocolate cake shake just the best one out there, first time trying it out and definitely coming back! 10/10

We ordered online and everything we got was really good!! We got a grilled sausage dog (the pickle was GENIUS), chicken tenders (which were cut a nice size), an Italian beef sandwich, and a large fry. We shared between two and were full before we finished. Reasonable pricing for great quality food!

Had to get a Portillo’s Italian Beef Sandwich . The gravy dripping through the bread, sweet peppers, and American cheese gel so well together. Fries were slightly crispy with the right amount of salt, and the cheese sauce compliments the fries so well. I feel like chocolate cake shake could have had more chocolate. I’ve been to the Buena Park location, and I think they put more cake than this location. Other than that, I enjoy the old timer’s vibe to the restaurant. The small booths and especially, the drink holder cafeteria trays! Bathroom is cleaned well and they have sanitizer before you enter. Small parking lot, but more parking around surrounding shopping outlet mall!

I got a double bacon burger and the maxwell polish hot dog. Both were so tasty and juicy and cooked so well. Burger patties were juicy and flavorful and had delicious melted cheese. The size is also great for the price. Quick and efficient service

This is an awesome place to eat with great American food. Portions are great, quality is amazing, and the atmosphere is unmatched! With a diner like environment, it boasts huge objects hanging from the ceilings, lights, artwork, and many things that will keep you looking up. Every time you look around, you see something new. There Coke here taste unlike any other Coke and is certainly to be desired. Theyre famous cake shakes finish it all off. This location has been here, I believe, since approximately 2008/2009, and their continual consistency keeps people coming back. Its a wonder there isnt more of them in CA.

If you have time to eat inside, you should check out their checkered table vintage themes. If you dont, no worries, they have a drive thru. The hot/sausage dogs are full of meat and toppings, leaving you satisfied with just one order. The reason I wont be coming back is because they only have one vegetarian dog and even though its topped with a million things, if you want it PLAIN with just grilled onions, they charge you extra! If you order another MEAT dog with grilled onions as a topping and ask to SUBSITUTE it with the veggie dog THEY CHARGE you. I find it so odd that if you take OFF 6 toppings (saving the company money) and ask to substitute ALL THOSE TOPPINGS with just 1 topping they STILL charge you. If youre a vegetarian unfortunately you will NOT find their option fulfilling.

My Family and I were greeted when we walked I to the door. We stop every tip east towards Palm Springs, Portillo a has the best burgers, beef and cheddar croissants, and hot dogs.The chocolate cake is amazing as well and we always get slices to go.The malts and shakes are awesome too.If your in the Moreno Valley area and looking for a slice of the Midwest Portillo is your one stop shop!Did I mention how clean this location was, inside and out!

If you are in a mood for a Chicago style hot dog, Italian beef, cheesy fries, or a an authentic burger look no further. This place is favorite with the locals and a Mecca for Chicago expats living in Southern California. The decor is 100 percent on point with retro posters and celebrities photos, checkered table cloths. The food is excellent and now they have vegetarian hot dogs.

First time there last week. A little wait but thats expected. Theyre busy. Very good environment. Music and things to look at. I love the energy there, but not many friendly employees. No smiles in their faces. The cashier charged me double for a meal. Its on the receipt. I told them and they took it off but I never got it back on my card. Nor did the supervisor who took it off the order tell me Id get it back. Not a very good first impression. Food was good tasting. hot. Chili cheese dog was a little sloppy. I get that the chili gets everywhere, but presentation wasnt the best. I did like the food tho. The hot dogs should be a little bigger for their price. Might go again, might not. The employees should be friendlier though. Definitely. That would make it a really good place to recommend.

The Moreno Valley Portillos is always a go to for hotdogs. The food is great, the fries are fresh and crispy and thats only a small portioned their extensive menu. This is a great place to bring out-of-towners when you need a quick restaurant. It can get a bit loud but the atmosphere is entertaining enough that noise doesnt really matter.Normally we get a slice of chocolate cake here too. Our family likes it enough, we sometimes go grab a whole one to take home for special occasions.Last I checked, there were 46 locations. All around Chicago, and Minnesota and the only other two? Here and Buena Park.

Second time here. Decided to give it another try since the first time was mediocre at best.First the positives. This restaurant was really clean. Considering we got there after it opened up a short time before we got there, I didnt expect anything less. The staff were all very polite and helpful.Now for the rest. I had the Polish dog. Nice size sausage and tasted ok, but bun was kind of small. My coworker ordered the jumbo chili dog. Even though it was a jumbo, it was really small. He said the taste was lacking flavor.We dont come up here very often, so I doubt we will give this place another try.

Love Portillos, it is a taste of Chicago. I will say that this location occasionally seems a little off taste wise, wonder if once and awhile they have to buy on the local economy. Service is fine, this is not as crowded as other locations. Chocolate cake is a sweet delight.Its been a few years since I posted this originally, so time for an update.Still not as crowded as a Portillos in Illinois, sorry to say, but still feel at home with the unique decor and the great hot dogs and service. I have always found two things a little strange about their service. First, they have multiple cash registers usually open, but they each have their own line, so if you pick the wrong one, too bad, wait. Second, they really dont make it easy to get a refill on your beverage. You can get one, but you often have to stand in line or fight for someones attention to get it refilled.The food is good and they have a wide variety of items from hot dogs, to beef sandwiches, to really great salads. The deserts are good as well, we like the Chocolate Cake, REALLY GREAT FROSTING. And the Strawberry Short Cake is worth a try as well. The Fries are usually good, as are the onion rings.We stop most times we are near enough.

Place has good food at decent prices. Had the chilli cheese dog and croissant chicken sandwich they were both bomb. Chicken was a good piece of breast and perfectly seasoned. Family had chicken strips fries onion rings and burger. They all were good. Arrived right at lunch time so it was busy. Customer service is good. Food served in a timely manner. It is self serve. Everytime were in the area or driving through to S.D we stop by this place. Keep up the good work and quality of food thanks to the ownership and staff.

A place my hunni boo has been waiting to try & so we did, I must admit place is very unique and has a very cool vibe, I love Lucy theme songs type of vibe ! I order the hot dog with fries and drink my hunni boo got the bacon cheeseburger that was oso goooood, EVERYTHING about it was good, had such a fresh taste to it all, my hot dog was good but I felt could’ve been presented a little better, fries were every bit of amazing !! A fun place to visit if you enjoy speciality hotdogs! The menu also has hamburgers, salads, desserts, and beer. Theyve added some combo specials. Portillos has a drive thru but we enjoy eating inside. It is spacious and has plenty of seating. Recommend for kids😉.

When you want what you want go get it!I was looking for a traditional Chicago dog. The offerings of places that attempt to do a Chicago Dog have dwindled in the Inland Empire. This place was good I only went for the drive thru experience. I will try the Portillos Dog in non Jumbo form next time just because I feel it was a little big, but flavor was all there. I do prefer a natural casing dog but 🤷🏾‍♂️. It was great, exactly what I wanted. Good Job yall!!

Coming from a guy that lives in northern California you dont see alot of places that serve Chicago style hotdogs so when I walked in here I was excited. I ordered a jumbo dog Chicago style. 5/5 best dog Ive ever had. Definitely recommend trying the Chicago style. I finished with a cake shake which has pieces of there chocolate cake mixed into there shake which makes for the perfect dessert drink

Every time after eating here it always seems overpriced for what it is. Some of the food is unique and great but a lot of it is just average or below. Its great to eat here and enjoy a beer with your food in the fun atmosphere but you should always check your order. I have never eaten here once that they didnt get something wrong in my order. Usually they are good about correcting it but some times they are flat out rude depending upon who helps you.

Ive only used the drive thru and the employees have all been nice and the line moves fast. They DO NOT take cash in the drive thru now, which I dont like. If you only have cash, you have to order inside. I always get the big beef sandwich dry with added hot peppers and mozzarella. They charge 75 cents each for the peppers and cheese. The peppers should be free. Its not even a handful that they add. I normally love grilled onions on my beef sandwiches, but I tried theirs once (another .75) and they were disgusting. Their onions had a super strong weird flavor and there was too many. I had to pick them all off my sandwich to be edible. I also order a loaf of their house bread with butter. So soft and heavenly for carb lovers. Their receipts have a super easy survey you can complete online and get a code for a free order of large fries, which cost $4.19 normally. I do this every time!

Always love Portillos. One of the things I appreciate is that whether Im in Chicago or if Im passing through the Moreno Valley on my way to San Diego, the food is consistently the same, which is a good thing. My daughter was with me and reminded me that there was a Portillos here and then she demanded that we eat there. It wasnt a hard sell for me but my wife had to be strong-armed a little. My daughter and her husband are expecting their first child so she sold it as a pregnancy craving so my wife was compelled to agree. In the end, she really enjoyed her meal, which is always good since shes the pickiest eater in the family. We had hot dogs, Italian Beef & combos, salad and a burger for my wife. it was all fantastic. The ambiance is always cool and the service was great. We then sent pictures of the food to one of my other daughters who wasnt with us and she was super annoyed that she had not come along on the trip because Portillos is her favorite. Please open a location in Las Vegas for us. None of my kids live here but they fly in so much that youd probably see them at least once every month or two. Youd definitely see me more than that

First time at Chicagoland’s famed Portillo’s Hot Dogs in Moreno Valley. One of only two locations in California. I was not disappointed. First of all I loved the prohibition era decor and the old time music playing in the background. Makes you feel like you’re back in the 1930s. I ordered a regular Italian Beef Dipped Sandwich with sweet and hot peppers. It was hot, juicy and delicious. I also ordered the jumbo dog and it was perfect. Great bun. I washed it all down with a large chocolate cake shake. Loved it. At the time of this review, they are running a “appyhour” special with half-off all drinks if ordering online through their website or app from 2-5pm. I used the online ordering and it was a breeze. Pickup is at the bar area (see photos) I would definitely be back and suggest you try this Midwestern chain deep in the heart of Riverside County.

The food was okay but was kind of bland. I ordered a Jumbo dog, an Italian beef and sausage combo, and a strawberry shake. The shake was the best part. The beef and sausage combo was wet and dry. I asked for it dipped and the bottom was wet but the tip half was extra dry. Maybe it was this inconsistency but it tasted very bland. The peppers were flavorful and the hot dog was okay. It’s hard to mess up a hot dog.I was disappointed by the food but gave an extra star for capturing an authentic Portillo’s look and feel both inside and out. It almost made me forget I was in Cali. I was excited to go but now it’s just a place I would go if I really needed a Chicago fix. Maybe I’m judging it slightly harder because i recently relocated to Cali from Chicago but it didn’t taste the way it’s supposed to taste.

I had my bladder removed 3 months ago so Im eating healthier, my options are limited but the Greek salad here was delicious and it comes with a fresh warm piece of bread definitely coming back sooner than later . Um more like a 3 1/2. If you take away the cool decor then what do you have? My sister got a roast beef sandwich and loved it. But everything else was Carl’s Jr. in different wrapping. We had a chicken sandwich, fries, onion rings, a burnt burger (had to pick off pieces that were too hard to chew).The strawberry malt was really good.My cousin got a hotdog that she said was pretty good.Over all not a place I would drive out of my way to eat but would try a hotdog if I pass through again

Great place to take family to enjoy a quick bite. Employees were very helpful as it was my first time here. There are two separate pick up spots for specific things if youre confused where to get your order but cashier should take care of explaining this. They dont sell combo meals anymore, so buying the beef sandwiches that shrunk considerably since weve gone here, the fries sucked, the cheese they sold me didnt cover a frie, the chili dog they gave me had a ton of onions, my receipt says clearly that no onions were asked not to be on the chili dog, the chincy amount of chili n cheese was absurd and after I say all that my sons beef sandwich was so skimpy & didnt have spicy peppers as ordered!! First time here. The food was on point. I got a Chicago beef with peppers (see picture).A couple of things Im not really going to take stars off for but the line was so long that I was not close enough to see the menu so I luckily already saw another review that suggested this item but otherwise, I would have to have asked the girl (who was standing out in the heat and running back and forth taking orders). She would have had to recite the menu from memory. Luckily I already knew what I wanted but Ive never been here so it would be nice to see other options for when I return. The other thing is the line. It was lunch so Im not surprised it was a long line but be prepared to wait a little. It is worth it but only if you actually have the time. Luckily again, I wasnt on a lunch break because I would have been really late.

The Big Beef Sandwich was cooked well. The problem was it was dry. As you can see we ordered the extra sweet peppers, which consisted of one 2 pepper on each half. There was no other ingredients. The meat was cooked thoroughly. When there is a picture in the lobby, of the sandwiches with onions and other bell peppers and such do not assume falsely, like I did, that it comes with ANY of that. You have to specifically tell them all the ingredients you would like on it. The dry would have been great if it came with Au Jus, but it didnt, so we used ketchup. $32 for two big beef combos.

Decent chain restaurant for Chicago style hotdogs and burgers. The food came out decently quick for how long the line was. I went through the drive through and my only complaint was the person taking orders outside didn’t have a menu ready and the standard giant drive through menu was around the corner from where she was taking orders. Food was decently priced beside the drinks. A small soda shouldn’t cost over $2 in this day and age. The pickle they put on my hotdog was also pretty huge compared to the size of dog. It overpowered the rest of the dog.

Good ole Portillos! You can never go wrong with Portillos, especially the Italian beef sandwhich and (my personal favorite) the Maxwell Street Polish, which is delicious! Ive been to the original Maxwell Street in Chicago and Portillos hotdogs come pretty darn close to the real thing! If you havent tried Portillos, I recommend giving it a try! Chicago is known for many things. It is known as the Windy City. It is known for their teams: the Bulls, the Bears, and the Cubs. Foodwise, it is known for their deep dish pizzas, and their Chicago Dogs. But unbeknownst to most people Chicago is also known for a sandwich called the Italian Beef, which is basically sliced roast beef on an italian roll with au jus and peppers (either hot or sweet). If youve never heard of this sandwich, then you are missing out. It is simple delicious. It is savory. It is juicy. It is hearty. It is a full meal that you can carry anywhere (but I wouldnt because it can get messy). Luckily we dont have to go to Chicago to try the Italian Beef because we all can simply go to Portillos. Ok, ok maybe its not that simple since Portillos is located in only 4 states. But Ive been to their Arizona location and of course the one in California. And oddly enough, going to Portillos has been a tradition of mine whenever I visit my mother in Arizona, and when I visit my father who is buried at the Riverside National Cemetary. So for a taste of Chicago check out the closest Portillos near you.

A humble little trailer is shown in Villa Park.My Grandfather helped build Portillos 1st big Restaurant. He was a Seabee in WW2. My Grandfather knew Ray Kroc and his wife back in the 1950s. Pa is how we referred to our Grandfather. We really loved Pa as kids. Our Grandfather built the 1st McDonalds in Des Plaines, Illinois. It is now a Museum. If you like the Chicago dog and like polish dogs get the two dogs it adds a smokey taste to the polish and the cake shake is great...a small is good enough for 1 person large is for multiples for sure.. great experience 👍👌👏

I was shocked to find Portillos a block from my hotel. I did drive-thru and ordered an Italian Beef, Dipped, with mozz and hot giardiniera. It was SINFULLY perfect, rich and flavorful. I was happily cursing and slurping as I ate that insanely incredible sandwich and enjoyed some crisp fries too. Wow!!!!!!!! I wish Portillos would open up here in the San Fernando Valley!

Got their number 1 combo. The sandwich was kind soggy, but the taste was still good. The overall dining environment and decorations were different, but I liked it; though it seemed the tables haven’t been cleaned for a while and the trash was overflowing a bit, it was near closing when we visited though so… Overall it was alright.

First time I have been here, never heard of it. Great food and atmosphere. Fries cooked to perfection and they have chocolate malts! A nice variety so you could come here and always have something different. Come to find out its a chain but certainly didnt get a chain type vibe.

My absolute favorite and helps me get my Chicago Italian beef and my Chicago hot dog fix. We come once a month usually since its about an hour drive to and from where we live. Food is always great, hasnt changed from Chicago to California. I love being able to have a touch of home. I wish you didnt take the tamales off the menu. Please bring them back.

Staff is friendly and very fast with your order.The food is here is really good and true to Chicago.I ordered the Chicago dog which had authentic neon green relish which looks strange but is really good.I also had the Italian beef which was good but I didn’t get enough of the “gravy” which is au jus or the pan drippings. Now I now to order more it next time.I had their chocolate cake and their eclair. The chocolate cake was very moist and frosting was good. The eclair was good but that cake was delicious. They have strawberry shortcake but it sold out when I got there.Overall really good food and atmosphere, definitely will return!

Great atmosphere. Wonderful selection of food to eat there or take out. The food is cooked fresh, hot and spot on every time. Whatever you order is absolutely delicious. From there awesome hotdogs to the Double cheeseburger is one of the best and largest all around. The crinkle cut fries are great as well. The place is usually always busy. The Customer Service is exceptional and always serve with a smile. Will have many happy returns.

Great presence. Horrible food. Everything frozen out a box straight to the deep fryer. Cakes are slices from Costco. Hotdog was green which means it was sitting in the water to long or not good at all. Spent $30 and threw everything in the trash. Not sure how they stay in business. Disgusting.

I had been to a Portillos in Chicago and I was amazed by how big this place was compared to the one in Chicago that I had went to. I remember I had tried the tamale and the beef sandwich dipped in gravy but I didnt know how I would like it so it was a little more soggier than I had liked but this time, I didnt even say what how I wanted it but it came out perfectly. I got the sausage beef combo sandwich, it was huge and tasted pretty good, the only thing is I wish they used different fries since Im not a huge can of crinkle cut. The dog selections, while being limited has so many good options to choose from, I wanted to try the polish, but maybe next time. If youre in the area I definitely recommend stopping by, you wont be disappointed.

Food is always great. Employees are rude and hostile. I will never go back to dine-in. I recommend you review your order on the screen before you pay or after you make a change to your order. But if your blind your out of luck because you have to depend that the order you gave was correct, and if your diabetic and cant eat fries they will not care to correct your oder you placed only WHAT YOU PAYED FOR. But it wasnt what we ordered.😠
