Its been years since I visited. The course is not easy, but its really beautiful. Its currently under construction, so only 18 holes are in operation and there are quite a few construction sections in several places. Please note that there are also closed toilets.

I really love the beauty of this course. The hole designs are surrounded by grape Vines. The quality of the course is very good, but can have a few places in the fairways that have brown. Sand traps were okay, but hard. There are 3 nine hole courses of which 2 will be assigned to your group. It is a regular length course, not short nine hole.

My second favorite course in the Bay Area only behind half moon bay. Absolutely fantastic golf course. Incredible well kept. Pace was great, Greens are challenging, beautiful backdrops, 3 nine holes courses adds variation round to round. Will be coming back as often as I can.

Had great fun with the guys, all 8 of us. Fairways were in pretty good condition and the greens were fair, running around a 9 ro 10.Practiced today for a tournament and the course is in good shape.Greens were slower than what I remembered today. Maybe due to all the rains. Poppys are everywhere now, beautiful to see. The area is sooooo green now.

The course is under renovation construction. Be informed of this as it will impact holes played and overall enjoyment. The bunkers and rough were in terrible condition. I understand rain. However, there were weeds in the bunkers and minimal sand in the bunkers. The fairways were in fair condition, however, covered with small white flowers, making it hard to spot a white ball. The rough was thick and tall, making it hard to find a ball just 3 feet off the course. Due to condition and construction, I wouldnt pay more than $60 total to play this course; at least until they have completed the renovations, cleaned up the bunkers, the rough and fairways.

Attended the 4th annual Livermore Chamber of Commerce Golf tournament. Played 18 beautiful holes with about 100 others. Dinner was great! My first time there and will be back soon. And what a round with the Extreme Team! Ted, Paul, Q, and David

Nice, well maintained, well known and challenging course. Greens were painfully slow this time for some reason. Can get really hot during daytime, plan to be hydrated. Runs a little slower then other similar courses.

Played golf on September 16, 2023…golf course is a mess…there are weeds on the bunkers but no sand, multiple sand traps are GUR… half the fairways are GRU…this is not recent conditions… some of the NCGA board members ought to drive to Livermore and experience themselves what a terrible golf course condition it’s presently in… what an embarrassment for the NCGA

Go for the scooters alone. Kick-butt fun. This is an easy course with a layout that keeps things as interesting as a farmers market on a Saturday. Staff is friendly and helpful plus you can help with their dating problems. Greens are slow but play is generally fast.

Ummmmm. It was amazing. Weather was prefect. Greens were a little spungy which caused some putts to do some crazy things as peoples footprints were sticking. It has been raining a lot so I cant blame for this.I imagine in dryer months the greens would not have this happen. I thought I made a tee time and it did not go thru. The guys on golf shop squeezed us in even tho they were busy. We drove from Napa so we were very excited to play. Difficult course if you cannot hit straight shots off tee boxes.

Links style course in the Livermore foothills. Course is a great option any time, but in wet weather, this place drains better than most. Fairways and greens in great shape following the recent heavy rains. Ot h er nearby courses are muddy and sloppy but Poppy was very playable with minimal muddy spots.

Appalled that my sons walked in and saw their names on a post it on their computer to not allow a cart rental. They were targeted as the ones who tore up the fairway one day, despite other golfers golfing. No parent was contacted when they suspected it was them. Instead, they accused without proof and put up a paper to display their names (first and last of both sons) to anyone there, that they were responsible for the wrongdoing. Both kids have played Pebble Beach, Spyglass, and all the courses here for several years with good golf etiquette. This is the only course where, previously, they were met with smarmy attitudes toward teens and now they are accused of tire marks after the rain, because they are teens.If you notice reviews, 5 months ago, someone wrote how bad the course is and yet somehow tire marks were assumed to be from my kids use of a cart.Have your young or teen golfers golf elsewhere so they can love golf and not feel like they are less than adults or might be displayed across the employees as reckless.

Had office Christmas luncheon there. Food was excellent! Buffet styleCeasar salad; rice w/tomato base; sauteed mixed veggies; Salmon; Chicken Florentine(I think); rosemary bread and butter; non alcohol drinks; dessert and a whole lot of fun!I dont do Salmon, however the CHICKEN was F. I.R.E.!!! So tender and very well seasoned.My compliments to the Chef and the Staff. Ive only played the Merlot course so far, and Im new to golf, but I love it. So beautiful, and I appreciate the hike. I recommend a hoofer bag or a push cart.Updated 12/28/20: Ive now played all three of the 9 hole courses. They do not disappoint, but I really enjoy the hike with Merlot.

Poppy Ridge Golf Course has a spectacular layout with wineries bordering the property. Staff were super friendly. Pace was normal. Holes are a challenge if you wander. Played several times during this visit the the bay area. Will certainly return.

We had our wedding here end of April and we had the best experience!We worked with Isadora and Abby for over a year and they were always very helpful and communicative with even the smallest of questions. We moved states during our planning so they were able to move up our food tastings to accommodate our move and were responsive with continued planning over phone and email.The food was FABULOUS and we got feedback from guests all night long that it was the best wedding food theyve ever had! They made our custom drinks one by one and exactly how we wanted them! We appreciated the attention to the detail and the ease of having everything all in one spot.Would highly recommend!

This facility is good but generally the Merlot 9 doesn’t always sit well with me. Chardonnay and Zinfandel 9s tend to have a nice rhythm… I would expect better conditions for an NCGA “headquarters” but it’s usually fine.

The views are pretty amazing at the course. Even where you can tell the land kinda collapsed from the rains it made the scenery all the better with the green hills, the winery and the courses.The clubhouse has greattttttt food, which isnt the case for most clubhouses you can go into as a non member.Definitely come check this place out if your nearby. It wont break the bank!

This rating is for the instructor, Mike, only. The course and range are beautiful and the bar area deserve more stars.Mike does not. For $150 for 50 minutes (he didn’t wait around a full hour, but 60 minutes is what we paid for) Mike spends an intro lesson comparing golf to other sports. If you’re not a former stud athlete in a ton of sports that he can leverage, he just wastes time chatting about the ready stance and differences in mechanics to other sports. He’s very much a one trick pony, and if you didn’t play a sport he can compare to, he makes absurd extrapolations. I’ve had 3 intro golf lessons at 3 different courses and this was by far the least useful, the only one where the pro didn’t go the full time, and the fewest swings where the pro observed. He doesn’t want to over correct but you leave feeling like you wasted money on a lot of sports chatter and few actual takeaways. Would not recommend lessons with Mike. I wish I saved the money and watched some online videos

We had our wedding here on 11.04.22 and it was AMAZING! Isadora and Abby are super helpful and made the day go on without any issue. Beautiful views, great drinks, and amazing food. This is a perfect place for a wedding and I am so happy we found them and went with poppy ridge. Communication was fantastic and it made everything so much easier as well. Overall, great facilities and courses. The practice areas are truly some of the best in the area for public use. Hitting off nice grass at the range, great practice greens, and short game areas. They have 3 different 9 hole courses that you combine 2 of to make your 18. All the 9s are great though. You get a lot of beautiful play next to vineyards. Fair price as well.

So - first the good. The people were very friendly - from the pro shop to the restaurant. And the food was pretty good. Nice views from the clubhouse balcony.The golf? It was not great. I play courses all over Northern California from private country clubs to municipal-style courses - and play at least once a week. I’ve played Poppy Hills quite a bit and expected similar quality golf at Poppy Ridge.So - for the bad. Tee boxes were generally in poor condition. Some bad spots in the fairways (and it’s only late-May). Greens were the slowest I’ve ever played - period. I really couldn’t believe they were this slow. Last - the pace of play was really slow. We had a group in front of us who spent the day collecting golf balls on almost every hole - and we didn’t see a single marshal on the course to move play along. There’s also quite a bit of cross-fairway play that happens - so listen for people yea by “fore!”.This course is probably a bargain for folks in the east Bay Area who want decent golf at a good (NCGA) price - but, in my opinion, it’s not worth the drive to play if you’re more than an hour away.

Update October 3, 2023: Played golf at Poppy Ridge yesterday. The course is in rough shape - the sand traps are like concrete, almost unplayable, the fairways are covered with patches with little to no grass, and the rough is a mess. I talked to an employee after the round and was told that Poppy Ridge has a big development starting in January and doesnt want to put any money into the current course. What a shame. One of my favorite courses in the area. Greens are true. The layout is amazing. The fairways have many changes in elevation throughout the course. One hole is on the ridge. The other is in the valley below. Add wind, and even the low handicapper can shoot a million. Go play it today.

Gorgeous course. Played Merlot and it kicked my butt. Lots of hills so you get a good cardio workout while climbing steep paths to your ball or the next hole. If you have troubles with steep inclines or declines you may want to take caution. This course has both. The views are incredible though and the course is well managed and cared for. I definitely would return once my game improves. Its a very humbling course if youre just a weekend warrior.

Booked last minute and drove 30 miles from the South Bay and Poppy Ridge did not disappoint. I played Merlot, the 9 hole rolling hills walking course. Weather was perfect, greens were very well kept and put in 11k steps. I’ll definitely play here again

Disappointed is good place to start, restaurant only open from 11am to 4pm, snack bar inadequate stocked and staffed, outdoor tables and chairs covered with bird dropping, restrooms were filthy, probably havent been cleaned in weeks. Driving range and putting green was in good condition, however the the sand traps on the courses were not, mostly every trap only had one rack which slowed play, no marshals to help with pace of play, no water on course, one beverage cart for three courses, grounds keeper wouldnt stop mowing while players hitting shots, I think Ive said enough.....for the price and the NCGA affiliations this place needs help.

Very disappointing experience. I have played here many times before where course conditions were great, but yesterday the course was in terrible shape. I can count multiple times I hit fairways and rolled into divots and dirt instead of grass. Some Bunkers were clay while others looked like they hadn’t been raked in weeks. Greens were slow and very bumpy as the poa grass was not cut down and would kick putts right or left off your line. Overall a very disappointing experience for the price you need to pay to play this course. I am hoping they can take better care of this course so it doesn’t turn into another muni course.

Very nice setting vinyards all around the coarse. A real challenging layout of 3 really nice 9 hole coarses so you can always mix up your 18. Never having to play the same thing all the is kind of a good thing in my book. All the facilities were clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. I love that place & we play there a lot.

Beautiful course, decent rates. I played the Merlot and the Chardonnay for the first time. Picked at bad day as wind gust were almost 30 mph. They say its usually around 10-15 mph. I dont recommend bringing a beginner. Lots of hills, and youre always aiming away from your target to compensate wind. Fun but very difficult.

The course itself was a little disappointing after playing poppy hills. Extra points for the staff however. Day was going really slow (almost 3 hours for the first 9) but they identified my group as being fast and switched us to the alternate 9 holes and we were able to finish the second 9 in under 2 hours.

The staff was not very friendly. You walk in and you get the feeling that they are thinking, You dont belong here. You walk out to the Starter and the same attitude. The course itself was fine but way to windy. The only reason we went because of a special to play 27 holes. We drove three hours to get there. Never again!! Poppy Ridge is such a great club house, driving range, and short game facility. The three different nine holes are all challenging and require every type of shot. The shortcoming is course condition. There are frequent bare spots on many holes. There are frequent soggy spots on many holes. You can lose an embedded ball in the middle of the fairway. It is very disappointing to be in a fairway bare or soggy spot and not be able to play the required shot.

Worst customer service of all time. Drove an hour to the club. We are out of town guests just wanting to play a golf round. When setting up the tee time we were very clear that we needed to rent a left and right set of clubs. The course representative said it wouldn’t be a problem. This is a course we have played before with some other executives so very excited to play it again. At check in the pro shop said they don’t rent clubs. U kidding!!! They called the golf pro thinking he would make something work. NOPE. Didn’t care. It was someone else’s fault and we weren’t able to play. The Pro actually said this has happened before. Well sir if it has happened before why did it happen again to us!!! Small businesses need to make things work and make the customer problems go away. Good luck in your business. Won’t be back.

This is the second time Ive been at Poppy Ridge in the past quarter for a retirement lunch. The service was good, the food is more expensive and really is lacking, messy and over cooked. Main toilets went out, rhe day before and did not work for mens or womens bathroom. The manager had to pour water in each toilet in order for it to flush. Manager was great, food was good, Brad the bartender was great. But, have to have toilets fixed for big parties!!

The golf course is always in great shape, the greens are great and the bunkers are sand, not dirt so you can actually get out with a sand wedge. Great course and pro shop and restaurant is also great..

Great layout amongst several vinyards. Plenty of challenge, but not impossible for the mid to high handicapper. Nicely maintained, especially the greens. Good value and playing experience for the price.

The two we played on were the same,,terriffic.the greens were a little slow but because of the heat and wind,but you better get ready to play a real thinking golf course.I wished I played better but last time I played that track was over 10 years ago.so one who plays it more often,will have a better chance scoring .

The course was fantastic, but,,, the Rangers were absent, they put a single in front of us, even though our tee time was ten minutes ahead of the single, the single was very slow, never saw a Ranger on the course trying to keep the pace. Went from the ninth staight to the tenth hole, never saw the 16,17 and 18th holes, it got to dark to play. Our tee time at hole 1 was 2:30 pm. Was very disappointed that we couldnt get 18 in before dark, the staff really didnt seem to care, well Josh didnt anyway.

The lady was very rude. No one acknowledged me. No one in pro shop but her and another employee who was on the phone. I needed a cart. She said 10 min past 8 no carts. So I left with my wife. The starter then said I could put you for 755 with a cart. I just left. They really didn’t want to help me. Why are they in the pro shop. Somebody has to be doing something RIGHT.

Need to be more prepared to serve all paying customers with equal amounts of carts for players or dont post available tee times without carts or be more transparent so golfers arnt duped into thinking that they will gave a cart if needed in my foursome there was a golfer whom had hip surgery 6 months ago was refus a cart while poppy ridge employees are out joy riding in cartsNot goid abd paying full price is sad
