Im always on the hunt for the best take out fried chicken. I hesitated to try Popeyes because I assumed it would be too spicy for me. Not so! They have a classic and a spicy version of all their chicken. It is SO good! I love their chicken sandwich - fresh, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with a good bun, a little mayo and a couple of pickles. Beats any fast food chicken sandwich out there. The chicken is a whole breast half, not a patty - real, quality chicken like youd make at home. I recently tried the chicken dinner - 4 pieces (I requested dark meat and got 2 legs and 2 thighs) with one side (I get the mashed potatoes without gravy as the gravy is a little spicy - I take the meal home and add a little butter on top) and a biscuit and a drink. That makes two nights dinner for me. Again, nice and crispy on the outside, juicy inside and quality chicken. Customer service is nice - friendly staff. After my first drive-thru experience, I always double check my order at the window, but its been fine since one time I got spicy chicken instead of classic - but it wasnt too, too spicy and I still enjoyed it.

I am not sure what it is about this specific location that they can’t seem to get their chicken right. Most of the time it’s dry and not pleasant. I suspect it’s because this specific location doesn’t get much business which is a shame as the food can be very tasty when it’s fresh. I would suggest you go during busy hours to guarantee that they are actually cooking chicken regularly

Not greet as we walked into restaurant. Once we got helped didnt let me know there would be a 12 minute wait until the spicy chicken. When it was done I checked to make sure it was all there. It was all there but only got 2 spicy out of the 6 I ordered.

Just have to say, Popeyes if my favorite fried chicken place. (But always open to change). Even when traveling I going this Popeyes!. I need one closer to my house 😆😆.Like the other chain locations, this place for not disappoint. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. They have nice crispy fried chicken. Also when you visit do not deny yourself an apple pie. Taste like the fried Apple pies I use the get at McDonalds! With the bonus that it has a healthy sprinkling of cinnamon powder. Delicious!

Totally forgot to take a before pic but if you cant tell how good the chicken thighs were from the picked clean bones, I dont know what to tell ya. Lol. So staff was very polite, ordered quick, food arrived quick, tables were clean, bathroom was clean, floors were clean. Not very busy for the lunch rush. Atleast not inside. The drive thru looked plenty busy though. So 5 stars. Very good.

After reading countless articles about the new Spicy Chicken Sandwich, we had to come try it and compare to our favorite Chick-Fil-A.Stopped by 1:30pm Saturday and there were 10 cars in driveway and 5 people in line inside. That translates to a 30 min wait to get our food. The service was good, especially with the assistant manger. We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, fries, biscuits and some apple pies.Verdict: The chicken is juicier than CFA. The portion size is noticeably larger than CFA. The CFA chicken is around 3.4oz and the Popeyes chicken is probably 4oz. I didnt think it was as spicy as CFAs spicy chicken. I could taste the spice, but the CFA spice burns my tongue a little, which I like. The bun is softer and smaller than CFA. The chicken is definitely breaded more, so its crispier. Finally, when it comes to flavor I think I like the CFA sandwich slightly better. This may be because the CFA chicken is pressure fried, but the Popeyes is fried in the open like most places make their french fries.Overall, I think it might be a tie for me. CFA may have a slight edge because the flavor is a little better... the service and ambiance are far superior at CFA.

Apparently the 11 piece tenders is a better deal because they just give you tiny pieces. These were the 11 tenders I got, and 5 of them are rock hard. Whoever is running the store, needs to make sure the night shift is throwing out the old tenders and checking the size of them.

Got the flounder sandwich. Very good, light spice. However, the side of coleslaw was only half filled. They are sold as regular or large, not by weight. So they really were dishonest when they didnt fill the container. They are making a mess of the drive thru experience. Only 1 offer per vehicle, regardless of the number of adult paying customers with the app on their phones. They wont allow paying upgrades to offers when they used to do this inside. They lie about running out of items when they have them available but too lazy to make them up like blackened tenders. When you dont want to make customers happy who pay you their hard earned money, then you should really find another business where you dont interact with the public. This franchisee needs to be retained or forced out by corporate. Hail Canes and come to Escondido please!

This Popeyes is a joke. Went at 9 last night and they were out of chicken. Wouldnt make more. I called and asked when they close after we left, they said 10. They close at 11. Tried to go tonight a little before 8 and they were closed? No explanation. Every time we go, unless Nicole is there helping us specifically, they are out of something, including ice. And super rude. This review is for a Uber eats order of the Popeyes chicken sandwich combo.The sandwich was not bad👌however the packaging for the french fries was rather extravagant, and they were not warm at all. Portion was on smaller side in comparison to similar restaurants who provide the same type of combos.

I happen to be in the Escondido area on Tuesday, 7/19, and put in an order via app for dine in. The app gave me the options of Now or 1:15pm, I chose 1:15 (dine in where they would call my name per the app)because it would take me around that time to get to that location. I got there at 1:10 pm so I went to the restroom which had no toilet paper. I sat at a table waiting. I gave it till 120pm and went up to the counter and asked. My food was bagged up and was sitting for pick up. I went to my table, opened up bag and my food was completely cold. I took it back up there and politely asked for hot fries. The young lady at counter had no problem yet a woman with the headset (dont know if she was a manager, I should hope not!) stepped in unnecessarily to asked about the issue, I informed her my food was cold and I asked to replace the fries. She goes into bout pick up orders dont get replaced because it should be picked up immediately. I informed her that I put in my order on the app to pick up at 1:15, and my name was never called. She then proceeded to tell me that food is prepared as soon as they get the order and not according to the app...this explains why my food was cold and sat there since before 1 pm. She literally kept going back and forth with me about replacing SMALL FRIES. I didnt even try to get my cold chicken sandwich replaced since it was such a big deal about fries. Like I told her, whats the purpose of picking a time if they are preparing food immediately. I told her I live in Temecula, and this is not an issue except here. If Im Escondido, I definitely would not be going back to this Popeyes who acted like replacing small fries, and providing customer service was asking too much.

Ordered a fried chicken sandwich on door dash and some other sides. The order was picked up with delivered within minutes. I was impressed with the speed the order arrived. However the sandwich wasn’t fresh, soggy breading, but over all tasted ok. Approximately 30 minutes to an hour after eating that sandwich and only the sandwich I violently regurgitated it! I dont know why this Popeyes has been the worst experience I always have, the ones in Tri-City and Miramar are A++, but this Escondido setup always messes up my orders,Usually forgetting sauces, or throwing random ones in that I didnt ask for, or just literally tossing food in the bag and going,This time I got a bag with a sandwich and fries but they just poured the fries in the main bag, I simply dont understand because they werent that busy at all.

This location has the absolute WORST service every single time we go! The food is good and it’s the only location near me, which is why I continue to go. But every time they mess up on orders, forget to give condiments, or the worst - when going through the drive thru, they send us out front when food isn’t ready (which is fine) but then they forget about us! Multiple times I have had to wait over 25 minutes! Good thing I wasn’t on a 30 minute lunch break! Also, keep in mind that this location is rarely packed. It does not matter what time of day or the crowd level. These same issues ALWAYS occur. I go through the drive thru to avoid getting out of the car, but when they send you out front, it’s a guarantee that you’ll be getting out of the car after waiting over 20 minutes. This location needs training if they want to remain operational.

They go through so much stress how do they do it every day?Popeyes popularity rose due to the sandwich and now this place is jam packed accordingly.On a Saturday at 3pm, there was 30 cars in the drive through. I went inside to order and there was15 people in line . Also multiple delivery service drivers coming in and interrupting transactions to demand their orders . Constantly.Overall I waited in line 20 minutes. And made my order. That took another 30 minutes . They said they ran out of pie so they gave me a different one.Food was great but it took almost a hour to get it. I do emphasize wit the poor worker here. Pure chaos !

The girl who took my order and who was also at the window was extremely rude!! I went to order the 14 piece family meal and she proceeded to tell me, they don’t have that. I said it’s on the website am I mistaken and then she barked out, you need to redeem the code and give me the numbers. I read the numbers off to her.Once I got to the window she took my card and I asked for hot sauce. She gave me my order and I said thank you and she didn’t say anything. Theyre not off to a very good start.I was super excited to go to the new location and my first order was wrong. They gave me the same sides twice and put them in the box so you cant see. Now, I get it--I could have checked the order before I left, but you give them the benefit of thinking they want to get it right.Well, I get home and call them about it and the manager pretends she cant hear me and tells me to call them back. I do and their phone cannot take calls all the sudden. So either its coincidence or they have an incompetent manager who doesnt feel like taking customer complaints and so cuts you off. I tried 30 minutes later and still cannot get through.The food was good, but I take major points off for customer service. On the same token, even if the food was average and the customer service was awesome, I always give great reviews (subtract 1 star unless the food is inedible).I will give them one more chance and if they improve upon it, I will change my review. If they mess up again, it will go down to 1 star and I will recommend to friends that the novelty isnt worth it.

My order wasnt available at the drive thru so I was instructed to wait in the parking lot. 20 mins later and no one shows up. Im huge on service so I decided to go inside to ask for a refund. I was granted a refund without even offering to resolve the issue. Didnt even ask what the issue was. Great way to care about customers. Will go to a different location going forward.

This is ridiculous, everytime I order from drive through theyre always forgetting to add some items. They need to hire new people that really pay attention when bagging food. It really isnt that hard. Ive worked at a fast food restaurant for 5 years so I know it isnt hard. I always ordered from drive through, and today no cars behind and just one car ahead of me. I ordered a 5 piece tender and only gave me 3 and they also forgot to add my mashed potatoes. Last time that I ordered they forgot to add apple juice and apple sauce for my sons kids meal. Its always something everytime. And I hate parking after and going inside to get what they forgot to add in my bag. Today I didnt check and realized until I got home that they messed up again. Now Ive been calling them but they dont answer. Phone just keeps ringing and wont even go to voice-mail.

Visited on a Saturday, about 6pm. Waited about 15 minutes to get my food, then when I got it, it the chicken wasnt warm at all... more like room temperature. There was a steady stream of customers, at least a dozen in the line, and only one person at the register the whole time, meanwhile the manager didnt seem too concerned and never bothered to get on one of the other two registers to help. Also, several empty tables were dirty and the two of the three trash cans were full. I still like Popeyes and will probably come back at some point to give them another chance, but this location, management and crew need significant improvement.

Had a very not so nice customer and she kept it together. Very good for a fast food experience. The food here is probably far more healthy than the average fast food because it is made from chicken and fish. The quantity is fantastic for the price. For around $20 you can get enough to really feed 2 people and with tasty food. The fried Chicken and Fried Shrimp are really great. The sides are also very good. Amazing biscuits and the macaroni and cheese is pretty darn good also.

The flavor was amazing. The food had a awesome crunch but not too thick and greasy.Spicey isnt actually spicey but Im sure the average gringo will find it pleasantly tingly.My order was completed without any issues so Im not sure what the complaints are about. Having a Popeyes in Escondido is a treat. The chicken is as expected from any Popeyes. But if you are short on time, have hungry kids waiting, think that itll be a quick 5 min in and out of the drive thru, think again. This location has been RIDICULOUSLY SLOW since it open. At 1st, I gave it a chance since it was new and thought they would work the kinks out. But my most recent visit was INSANE! I ordered a their special family 20 piece mixed meal, not spicy, with 2 sides of Red Bean and rice. There were 2 cars in front of me, thinking 10 min max outta here. Well it took almost 20 min to get to the window, mind you that there is now a line of car behind me. By the time I get there, the person at the window had my whole order wrong. 10 min later, they finally delivered my order all the while I am sitting in my car in front of the window holding up everyone in line behind me. I dont plan on going here anymore. That should save my waistline and my time.

No more green beans, jambalaya, a number of other things, AND they watered down the sweet tea. I absolutely love Popeyes chicken. There are two places I can go and get it. One is about 10 miles away (Escondido Ca.) and the other about 20 miles away (Vista. Ca.). Obviously I choose the one 10 miles away. I have been there three times in the last three months at various times. Today I was there at 10:30am. I always ask for a 16 piece family meal spicy and all dark. Each of the last three times I have been told “we don’t have enough. Dark for a family meal”. They have offered no options, or specified any length of time I would need to wait for them to be able to fill my order. Just plain horrible customer service. If I owned the establishment, there would be some intensive training in this area. All three times I drove one block away to El Pollo Loco and was able to order a family meal all dark. It is A shame that I had to do ghat because I much prefer Popeyes chicken.

While the employees are polite, they have only gotten my order right once out of the six times Ive been there since theyve opened. I love Popeyes and was so glad when I found out one was opening much closer to home. Went today to get food for the family, the drive thru line was pretty crazy. Only got longer later throughout the day. Decided to try to walk in instead; didnt wait nearly as long as I would have if Id stayed in the drive thru. The employees were nice enough. I was disappointed that they shorted me biscuits on my order and the half gallon of sweet tea I purchased started leaking as I was walking to my car. They had it put in some plastic bag pouch which was weird. Hopefully theyll have some deals since it can be pricey and the large sides arent that large.....But overall, the food tasted good. The sweet tea and biscuits were delicious and the jambalaya didnt disappoint. Hopefully Ill get everything I order next time. And theyll actually have sauces available. Which they were out of today.

I went to try the new Chicken sandwich at popeyes after hearing so much about it... I was disappointed that it wasnt available but still decided to order a 5 PC tender meal or at least I thought I did. What I was given was 4 small nuggets and a kids size fries with a cold odd tasting biscuit. This is quite possibly the worst experience Ive ever had at a fast food restaurant. Been there multiple times, never have I gone there without them getting my order wrong. Left out a biscuit, been given the wrong side dish, but today they cant tell the difference between dark and light meat. If you have time on your hands to wait for people to get your order wrong and love long wait times for a place that isnt busy, then this is the best Popeyes location. We went back and they gave us the same wrong order. You are better off at the Mira Mesa location or Oceanside, but avoid the Escondido one if you want good fast food and bare minimum mediocre service.

I craved this chicken and waited for this to open a year ago. Once it opened, every week someone from my family was bringing me Popeyes from this location. Since the baby has been born, I still have my Popeyes fix. We have never been disappointed and we have always had great service and no problems with our food. Ok I was here on day 2 since they were open so Im going to give them a little levity. It was crazy busy! Grand opening and all. 30+ cars in the drive thru. Tried to go the day they opened but 40+ in line inside and 30+ cars was a deterrent. I decided to go inside and the line was only 8 deep and went pretty quick. Staff is learning. Order went fine but their drink station was a disgusting mess drinks spilled everywhere and an empty cup or two which i soon learned why people had abandoned their cups. The small cups had the wrong lids so I asked the employee standing by the drink station for a different cup since the small cups had no lids he got me a bigger cup but then I realized that the bigger cups also had the wrong lids out so I just put my small cup inside my other cup (any spillage for just land in the outer cup) which was right about when my order was called. I informed the person handing me my order about the lid challenge and they went over to the drive thru drink station area and got me the right lids. I didnt stick around to see if they rectified the situation by raiding the drive thru cup lids. I had some tasty chicken and shrimp to eat.Here is where they lost a star which would have been two stars if they werent new. The employee standing by the drink station was not only aware of the lid epidemic but could see that the whole area needed wiped down trash thrown away etc. and he did nothing. He also didnt do any critical thinking/problem solving with the lids. Not a big deal if you are eating there but a very big deal if you were going to drive home with the goods.My only other small annoyance is that you cant just buy chicken or fish or shrimp without a combo drink which I didnt want to buy two drinks but had to cuz thats where they get you but food was amazing and I will be going back!Although I would get the cane sugar sweet tea every time so I guess its not that big of a deal. It hurts my soul that there is actually a BAD Popeyes location. I am not reviewing Popeyes as a whole, I am specifically reviewing the Popeyes in ESCONDIDO, California near East Grand Ave 92027. I believe they actually gave somebody elses order from the car line entirely, the sides and drinks were all wrong but we were home by the time we found out. This location has been open for awhile so the lines have died out. Ive been in the line with only a SINGLE car in front of me (Im talkin 2 cars total) and it took me 30 MINUTES to get my food. Okay this reviewer guy is exaggerating, NO. I mean like 60 seconds * 30, it took 30 actual minutes to get my food with a single car in-front of mine. Why? Because HALF of the workers decided to all take their SMOKE BREAK right next to my car in the line! This is a hard review because I LOVE POPEYES as a brand and their other locations, their chicken is even better than Chick-fil-a. There mash potatoes are made from flakes and not fresh, their macaroni, and pretty much every side is microwaved or from a can something you have at home that you could get from a food bank. So do yourself an honest favor and spend your money on Chick-fil-A or on some good authentic food that dont have deadly ingredients in there food. If you eat their food your on a fast suicide mission or be a salmonella victim. Just a little secret I would see managers all the time not do their temps on food so think next time you want to eat there and chose somewhere thats not nasty!!!!!
