I used to come here alot. The classes and personal training are really cool for beginners and advance fitness levels. I canceled my account and whoever I did it with did not complete it. I hsd a bunch of outstanding balance and late fees. Spoke with Ari at front desk and she was so helpful and took care of me. I will be joining again soon. Also spoke with Jacob on the phone before I dealt with Ari, he was very helpful and friendly as well. This gym is way worth the price. Thanks again for being kind and taking care of your people. 1000% would NOT recommend this place! The staff sold the Black Card Membership to my wife and I. They said it wouldn’t be a problem if I would come as a guest without my wife. After two weeks going to the gym as a guest now it’s a problem! I couldn’t be there without her and yet I was able to cancel my wife’s account without her even being there? Not only is the staff undertrained the place is dusty and dirty. Don’t believe me try looking around the machines and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’m glad I canceled.

I like going to at 11 pm when the crowd has died down. The planet fitness in Alhambra is bigger than the one in South Gate & Downey. The staff is friendly. One thing I dont like about Planet Fitness is that they have no free weights. The only free weight is the dumbbells.

PF is a franchise fitness club. This location is neat, clean and organized. It’s a good gym to get a workout that won’t cost you an arm and leg every month. Staff was cordial and professional. Overall, it’s a good fitness club.

Good gym and location, but man, does it get PACKED! Going from 6am - 11am and 4PM - 10PM is a nightmare. You have to be eyeing the machines like a hawk if you wanna get a good workout in. Wouldnt hurt to swap out some treadmills or ellipticals for extras of the more popular machines.

Even though it’s kind of small, this place takes great advantage of its space and has a variety of equipment. Only thing is there is horrible ventilation in here and it gets very warm/hot. To top it off, there’s a new staff (short female) in the mornings who always turns down the overhead fans as soon as she arrives and the place ends up feeling like a sauna. When you have too many people working out and breathing close to each other, we all generate body heat and it gets hot. Definitely needs better ventilation/AC

This is one of the best locations I’ve been to. And I’m a over the road long haul truck driver. So I visit locations all over America. From the moment I pulled in the parking lot I noticed a nice difference. It was clean and well kept. Once I entered and started working out, I noticed just how well maintained this Planet Fitness was. Very nice!

Go here almost everyday its pretty clean and and has some solid equipment. The staff are super nice and welcoming. Definitely try to show up earlier in the day if youre in a rush though because it does get packed.

Stinky showers and dirty locker room, looks like they rarely bother to clean them.Edit: there shouldnt be a need for me to specify, there should be a cleaning procedure to make sure all parts of the gym are kept clean. We dont need 3 people at the front counter. Maybe have a designated custodian to always be cleaning?

The Downey PF club its very good gym. Ive been going there for quite some time now and havent had any bad experiences. The gym has all the basics, if youve been to one PF you been to them all for the most part. So long as your not looking for anything to fancy and or niche I would recommend PF for all levels of gym goers from the beginners to the experts.

I recently relocated from SD and made Downey my new home gym. The staff here are always super friendly and always very welcoming. The facility itself is always really clean including the women’s bathroom and locker room. I’ve definitely been to other PF around LA where this isn’t the case. This location isn’t the closest to my house, but i drive the extra distance bc of how clean it is and how great the ppl are.

I genuinely dislike how every planet fitness has half of the building with just cardio machines that most people don’t use since everyone just does treadmill or stair master genuinely why are there rows of elypticals when not a single person uses them it should be criminal that they only have one chest fly and preacher curl machine per gym not even mentioning the lack of benches and space in the free weight section

Kat Molina… Really disrespectful and unprofessional. Her attitude is nasty and does not know how to act as a club manager. My bank account was frozen due to fraud and I was behind on everything.. prior to this bad incident today with Kat Molina, I had called in and spoke to P.F personal and told them my situation.. I’ve been making payments on time all year and haven’t been having problems checking in and working out until today.. She stopped me in front of everyone and said I need to make a payment. I told her I did.. all year I’ve been making payments. I ask her that is their a problem with me working out and she said yes… other P.F personal will let you work out but not me… She told me to leave and that she was going to cancel my membership.. Not cool when I been making payments all year.. Sad that this establishment still has her working as a manager or working at all… I checked some other reviews and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks she unprofessional..

Its dirty and smells..!!We have options (3 different locations) to go too before we get to this planet fitness.(2 of the locations are just 10-15 mins away.)Before the pandemic, this was our gym of choice.. Well have to do a little drive, but we didnt care.We tried going back to our routines.. Things had changed since last in this gym..My reward after a great workout was the shower.. Both women and mens showers are not kept clean.. At some point you could see mildew build up.. For the mens showers, after a few more chances; started getting better at keeping cleaning..(Cleaningness wasnt an issue back then)Cant say the same for womens showers..The crowd isnt the best.. It gets packed now.. Worst part about it, it gets packed with people that just sit and text at the machine..P.S. we havent gone back since EST. May 2023started going to Midcity (if its worth the drive... We dont mind)

Bad place the manager Kathy has a bad attitude and is very one sided and inconsiderate. Its not the first time that I called something to her attention. It seemed like if she was being vindictive from the last time. I was threatened by another member and she completely took his side and canceled my membership. Not only do I not feel safe going back but her attitude is completely unacceptable. After all this public place and I pay for my membership.is a public place and I have been a loyal member for over 5 years.

Pretty nice location and they keep their lights outside brightly on throughout the night and into the eary morning. Its great since im often on call and it helps I can nap in the car sometimes during the wee hours without much trouble. The facility itself is well-maintained and Ive already seen them do a full cleaning answered mornings. Im not sure if they do it every so often on a regular basis or if its something thats done once a week but it seems like they do it often enough and are pretty thorough

Good, clean, staff very polite, outside workers come around 2am to clean. PF staff pass by the whole gym to pick up paper towels constantly from lazy members that cant throw there own trash.So thank you PF staff for that 👍 Change my 5star to 4 because I was charged $5 for a purchase that I never purchased to my card. I let the over night staff know and she gave me a card to her manager in morning shift since overnight do not have one . I emailed the manager about the situation and never got back to me. The over night staff checked the computer to see the purchase and she pointed which computer it was and says that it was done by her and doesnt remember doing it. Becareful and check your bank statement cuz that is thief what they did.👊

Friendly staff but the locker room area is very poorly maintained. It smells terrible, mildew around the stall walls, and there’s puddles of water on the floor because there’s chunks of hair clogging up the floor drain metal plates. This is a safety issue in more than one way. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this location any time soon.

This location is a little on the smaller side but besides that, everything is great! Equipment is clean and never too beaten up. Staff are always helping people out or cleaning when not busy. When asked about deals and memberships, they dont try and cram any annoying and unnecessary offers down your throat or treat you differently for refusing them. Best thing by far has to be the blackcard membership. Absolute steal of a gym membership 👍

I went there on a Friday around 7pm, it was packed. The place is way too small, there is not enough space between each piece of equipment and there is not enough equipment for their customers. 0 space for stretching. People working there are not very welcoming like other locations.

Downey Planet Fitness has hired employees with great people skills. I have been at gyms where there isn’t even eye contact when you check in. Planet Fitness trainers know you by name and go out of their way to greet you ... They are very accommodating....love this gym!!. It is always always VERY clean!!!

Been coming here for 3 months lost 80 lbs awesome gym I only gave it four stars there is a girl with a nose ring that is very rude and has attitude, the other problem is every time I go it never fails the paper towels are out of stock I cant clean my machine making me look like a Jack hole to everyone else. Also I would suggest removing the paper towel dispensers I notice they get jammed a lot and the employees use razor blades to cut all the paper thats stuck I would just put a simple pole that the paper towels can just sit on and it would be easier to pull and rip off

I have joined Downey PF about three weeks ago because had serious issue with bending my knee and poor strength of my legs after TKR surgery. Initially had extreme difficulty on bike at setting 24 where I was not able to bend my knee, now miraculously after three weeks, I am freely able to exercise on bike at 16 setting. Very special thanks to Matt at PF who guided me on exercise program using various equipment. Excellent care taken by him. Also facility has all the equipment and in excellent working condition. Staff is always there to help. I am so glad that I joined PF.

As for those giving one start for their cars being scratched you must be and idiot to think a business owes you something because of what someone else did. Ive been coming to this location for one year now. The staff is very professional and they always keep the gym clean. Throughout my workout I can see the staff sweeping, wiping down or mopping the floor. I tried the water massage but it wasnt my cup of tea. I wish they had a small room for classes. When I see the trainers do the group classes the trainers dont look very enthusiastic. The prices are good. I have the black card and it give same what I need.

The place is clean most of the time except for restrooms sometimes being dirty with no hand soap or hand sanitizer. (Always empty) Customer service at the front is very friendly with the exception of the male trainer. He’s pretty cocky and full of himself. (Not friendly at all) He needs to stick with training folks and not be at the front! That being said, I like the place and enjoy coming here. :)

I am from Texas & this is the 1st pf that I have visited since my arrival on Monday. This facility is very clean, a bit smaller than my home gym but I was able to use every machine I wanted without waiting. I went about 11am. My only complaint & why I didnt give 5 stars is that the hydrobeds are all in one room and the lights are bright. The pfs back home have them in separate rooms, no door of course but w/low purple lighting to give you a true spa/massage experience, its very relaxing.

I joined a few months ago, I havent visited much because it has been really nice outside and I prefer to walk/jog outside. However, I notice the female staff members are pretty dismissive and not very helpful. I notice a lot of standing around a giggling, gossiping and chit chatting with each other with little to no customer service past check ins. MOST members are respectful and wipe down the machines after using but shouldnt the staff maintain the facility as well? How many people do you really need hanging out behind the counter. This has to be the worst possible customer service Ive ever received. Six months ago I visited this gym and i accidentally took my wifes card, at the front desk a young lady named Alexis attempted to lecture me about bringing my card. I simply asked for her to look at my profile, I showed her my photo ID and after behaving very rude and giving terrible attitude, she let me in. But not before warning me that she will make sure I wouldnt be allowed in the future and she will mark it on my profile! So today I walked in after work hoping to get a quick workout before going home. Unfortunately my gym card was at home (i know its my bad). Worst news, Alexis was at the front desk. I politely I formed her to look me up as I had forgotten my card. She did, however the moment she opened my profile she informed me that she had warned me once before and she would not let me in. She said I needed to download an app right there and then if not I couldnt go in. I expressed to her that I did not want to download anymore apps. When I asked, she smirked as she informed me there were no managers or supervisors on duty to make sense of this situation. Great no one to ask this hall monitor to stand down. Ive been visiting this gym 6x per week and most of the service reps are polite and in fact most greet me as Im very familiar to them. It was pathetic to have them stand by as Alexis abused her position. Two other employees at the desk acknowledged they knew me but would not assist with providing reasonable customer service, responding sorry bro those are the rules Alexis can see on her screen that I am a customer in good standing (possessing 2 membership in one household). She confirmed my identity via cell phone and even after I offered to show my drivers license, she simply shutdown and said rules are rules and Im not letting you in. I will follow up with the manager tomorrow as it is important for management to know they have employees who are willing to destroy the loyalty and customer relationship because what is clearly a case of a poorly trained employee who is rude and discourteous. Most of the time I visit this gym at 4am so I hope I never have to see this person ever I will definitely not be back in the evening as she has ruined it for me. But if I see her in the AM, I will cancel my 2 memberships and go with 24hour fitness. If there was a zero star Alexis proudly owns it! Terrible!

Front desk set me up as friends guest and I like how he didnt try to sell me a membership. Bathrooms are clean. No bench presses or squat racks, only smith machines. Precor contract limited their machine and weight versatility. 1/3 less dumbbells and barbells you would see at a fitness goal driven gym. Pulley system machines with not enough weight.

Crowded with people as well as the machines. Maybe they didnt spend enough time planning the layout? Paths between machines and benches are too narrow, and there is not enough room for even simple stretches. If you were one of only 10 people in the gym, maybe thered be enough room, but since that doesnt happen, youll probably experience feeling squished at one point or another. Great staff, clean facility.

Last week my car stalled out in the parking lot and when I went inside I asked Itzia and Filippos if there was a way I could charge my phone because it died. They gladly helped out and charged my phone for a while and a huge thank you to both of them for saving my night. Glad there are friendly people still around. Cleaning crew does an extremely poor job of shower area. Smells horrible, bugs n gnats riddle walls of shower area. This is right after the cleaning crew they use just left. This is at 2:30 in the am. I see the cleaning people leave as i enter. So that just shows they are not doing their jobs. Workout area is good. Locker area is in poor conditions/horrible.I hope PF reads this and addresses the issue.

The staff members at this facility are ill prepared and apathetic towards their customers. In the case of an emergency such as the recent break in of my vehicle in the parking lot next to the gym they failed to inform me until after I had walked out to my car even though they were aware of what had happened beforehand. They failed to offer any form of assistance and simply remained standing at the front desk. The front staff of the late afternoon shift seem unqualified to do a decent job.

If you are ready to start working out or want to start a slow and steady workout, this is the place to go. They offered classes guided by a trainer, you can YouTube how to use the machines, its a bit crowded but I dont mind. You go do what you have to do and have fun. Noticed though this is not a place for weight lifters.

So to cancel our membership now they told me a have to wait till August of next year because i have a black card membership which i have no clue what it is. I have been going to this gym now for a few months. I have tried to come in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. On several occasions, after walking in, handing my card to the front desk person that doesnt say a word to me, I have turned right back around and left since there is not ONE machine, mat, dumbbell etc that is free to use. If you come here, between the hours of 5pm thru 10pm, you will have little to no access to any of the equipment your workout requires for that day. If you can, and you come in the mornings, plenty of cardio machines are available but no weights or resistance machines. So far, the best time is around 2 or 3 or on the weekends. Its truly frustrating to be paying for a gym that I cannot have access to any time of day as advertised... and then add to it that the staff doesnt walk the floor to make sure other members are freeing up machines- lots of people sit on the machines to text and frankly therr are usually 3 ppl ag the front chatting with each other, i think one of them could walk the floor. Also, the paper dispensers and water fountain tend be habitually broken. I agree with other members, gym is clean, but it has that pungent gym sweat smell that could go away if they had windows that open.Overall, its a sad two stars for rude, apathetic staff, and overly crowded gym.

Don’t know where to start but I’ll start with the thing that upsets me the most and have had most bad experiences with... its a good gym decent equipment (wish they had more variety) but decent, my problem with it is that people are rude and like to babysit equipment, monday-Thursday is pretty much always busy and friday-Saturday is much less busy, so what I’ve come across is that alot of people like to use up one or more machines at the same time even though they are not using them but they like to put their belongings on top of the machine and like to babysit them so they can use those machines at their freewill. I have no problem with it if it was not a small busy gym with others waiting to use the weights/machines. Especially when its busy, then said people will be rude and disrespectful if you ask them if they will be done soon or etc. If you go to the staff they will be completely useless and just not help at all. My point is I’m paying for a membership to not be able to use the machines/weights that I want too because others don’t understand that theres also other people wanting to use the same machines. Not sure if I’m making complete sense but there you go. The weights are always out of place and found at random places just thrown on the floor. Never any good parking and beware theres no security cameras in the parking lot so if something was to happen to your car/belongings well you’re pretty much out of luck. I pay for the black card membership which had some good perks (being able to go to different locations, able to bring in a guest, etc) but they started new policies which to me I don’t understand, in my membership I have access to their massages and hydro beds but my guest doesn’t? When just a few months ago my guest was also able to use them as long as I was present. Also you are not allowed to carry your gym bag with you, now they ask you to use one of their lockers which I would rather not leave my belongings in a locker especially since I carry my water, towel, resistance bands, gloves, wallet, keys and rescue inhaler. So just little things like that that I’ve been noticing. Also tried out their personal trainers that they offer and did not like it, they tell you what you need to do (which you can read on the machines) and will leave you there until your done with your time/reps and just move on to a different machine instead of teaching new techniques with weights or weightloss or anything. I know the membership is cheaper than majority of gym but to not be able to use machines that I need, my guest has no perks, theres no security in parking lot and hardly any parking, it’s really starting to show why its cheaper than most. Currently trying out a free trail at LA fitness and will definitely be looking into other gyms because I think I’d rather pay a little extra for a better gym.

I got the black card to be able to take my 16yr old daughter as a guest, relax in the massage chairs & water beds (that I love), get my tan for free (yay lol) and be able to go to any Planet Fitness.BUT... I’ve been to a few other Planet Fitness and OMG, you have no idea how much I miss my NICE & CLEAN Downey location. I’ve found filthy machines and non caring staff in this other locations. This planet fitness is nice but the manager there is unbearable. Their ID policy for guests is BS. They require minors to have an ID, what 14yr old has an ID? My son is home schooled through the k12 program, his student ID is online and they wouldnt accept that, only a passport or state ID if he doesnt have a student ID. When I had LA Fitness i was never asked for a guest to produce an ID, I didnt even have to give them my ID to sign up for my membership at Planet Fitness but my 14yr old son has to have one to enter as a guest? No exceptions? Dumb policy. I was embarrassed and left. Will be cancelling my membership. My son was treated like an illegal alien by a gym manager, not worth it. Good bye Planet Fitness, Ill be going back to LA Fitness.
