I cannot say enough good things about Dr Hanson and his entire staff! They go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. Great bedside manners, listens to all my concerns to help me plan my recovery. I have had my hip and knee done by Dr Hanson, he’s the best!!!

Dr. Hanson did my hip replacement 10 months ago using anterior surgery (which has a much faster recovery time without the hip displacement issues posterior surgery can have). Dr. Hanson has probably done more of these anterior surgeries than anyone else in San Diego as he was among the first willing to learn this newer form of hip replacement, which many older surgeons do not know. Anterior surgery does not have the restrictions for bending for the first 3 months that posterior has - which is a huge plus in returning to normal life faster. Dr. Hanson also proved to be correct in that the knee issues I was having were related to the hip, so after hip replacement surgery my knee gradually became pain free again too. If you are considering hip replacement, I recommend you talk with Dr. Hanson about anterior hip replacement, he is worth the wait.

My husband and I had quite a wait for Dr. Hanson, but it was well worth it. We were escorted in by the excellent Tech/Asst., Ken, and saw very quickly the PA, Ashleigh (I think was her name) who was very thorough, knowledgeable and personable. Then when we did see Dr. Hanson, he was just as we had hoped - very calm, knowledgeable, personable and let us know of all the up and coming possibilities regarding knee treatment. He gave us his ideas but ultimately agreed with my chosen treatment. If you are able to see Dr. Hanson, you will be very happy.

Dr. Hanson come highly recommended from my neighbor. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. Dr. Hanson was prepared for our video conference. He reviewed my MRI and X-ray before our meeting. Dr. Hanson was very professional and very personable. He was thorough with his explanation on what my hip replacement would entail. He asked if I had any questions or concerns, he wanted to make sure that I understood the whole process. Two days before my appointment, I received a call from the appointment desk, a very pleasant young lady, she wanted to confirm my appointment and to give me a heads up that Dr. Hanson sometimes can be late for his appointments. I was glad she told me because I did have to wait on hold for a good 40 minutes. I’m looking forward to Dr. Hanson preforming my hip replacement surgery . The thought of playing basketball again is very exciting for me.Regards,Barb Brand

Simply echoing all the other 5Star reviews. I chose Dr Hanson because of his reputation and his experience with the anterior approach to hip replacement surgery. He was highly recommended by his orthopedic colleagues and I was not disappointed. I am able to play golf, work out, do Pilates and WALK! It’s great not to have to use the handicap placard on my car. The experience was so much easier than I had anticipated and I wish I had done it years ago.

Dr. Hanson and his staff are amazing! I had to have a hip replacement at a young-ish age while still working full time and with other responsibilities.Other doctors I consulted were not comfortable with an anterior-approach replacement which allowed a quicker recovery time. Dr. Hanson is one of the only San Diego surgeons experienced in the anterior-approach surgery, plus he and his staff are just a pleasure to work with. I felt extremely confident in his hands - and had a quick, full, and complication-free recovery. Thanks, Dr. Hanson!

Met with Dr Hanson regarding my knees. Dr H was on time, personable, answered all of my questions. Before he came in, I was seen by his PA who was very friendly and efficient. X-rays were taken before Dr Hanson arrived so he was able to show me the reasons for my knee problems. At some point I will need a replacement and I wouldnt hesitate to have him do the work. My wife had a partial knee replacement last April and was hiking by August- she is very satisfied.

Dr. Hanson is a good guy and excellent surgeon. Very easy to talk with and responsive to any question. After years of struggling with hip pain from arthritis and bone on bone, I had anterior hip replacement. Three months post surgery, I’m appreciating normal function of the hip, walking without pain and wondering, as many do, why I waited so long. I’ll be jumping back on my road bike next week and looking forward to a return to other athletic adventures. I would have been home the same day of surgery had it not been for a bladder issue requiring cauterization resulting from a spinal block.

Dr. Hanson is an excellent surgeon and a very kind and caring doctor. He did an excellent job replacing my husbands hip. His follow-up is amazing after surgery as well. His entire office takes such good care of you throughout the whole process.

Dr. Peter Hanson is a wonderful surgeon and physician. I am very pleased with my knee replacement, and would immediately return to him if I should need another orthopaedic procedure. He is also an outstanding listener, which goes a long way to instill confidence in us patients. Dr. Hansons staff at Grossmont Orthpaedic are also as good as it gets. Their services are polite, respectful, caring and punctual, and they all treat a patient as a treasured customer. Im very grateful for Dr Hanson and his staff, and after some other experiences around San Diego County, I rank them as the best of the best, which is why I did not hesitate to make the many drives from Carlsbad to GrossMont.
