Took the kitty I rescued off the street here for a wellness check and vaccines. My appointment was for 8:45am and didn’t wait long at all to be seen. Dr. Gibbs was incredibly sweet and helpful as she examined my kitty. She let me know all my options and prices for certain tests and let me opt out of a few that weren’t really needed for an indoor cat. After the wellness exam she took my cat back to run some tests and administer the vaccines, telling me to grab a coffee if I wanted and they would be done in a half hour. A coffee and 20 minutes later they were all done! She handed me the paperwork and microchip info and walked me through it all. As far as vet prices go for exams/chipping/vaccinations $300ish wasn’t too bad! I’m just fortunate the Cat Distribution System gave me a cat that had been spayed and released Lolol. Thank you Dr. Gibbs from myself and Boogie Cat!

Had a grooming appointment for 2 months. Person checking me in made me wait for a walk-in customer. A WALK-IN! Then after I waited I asked if Petco was double booked, she said yes. Then told me the dog grooming would take 5 hrs! Wait, what?! The point of scheduling in advance is to have the ability to plan appropriately. I raised my concern to the person checking me in, but she didnt care. Um, ok. Might not be her fault really. Probably blame Petco for allowing this nonsense. I literally pay a monthly fee for their services. I scheduled way in advance, I use their vet service, too. I probably need to rethink my relationship with Petco.

Always buy my dog food at Petco. Great variety to accommodate my dog’s needs. Also purchased a cute Valentines toy. This time I had a reward for a free bag which was the cherry on top. Cashier was friendly and offered tips for getting the most out of the Petco app. Love getting my dog what he needs at Petco!

No carts at the entrance. I had to carry the 20 # bag over my shoulder past two employees who did not offer to help. I got the register with Olivia. I pointed out there are no carts at the entrance. She made no apologies. She never greeted me or thanks me. She just handed my receipt and walked off. Extremely rude.

This is the nicest Petco I’ve been too. I came in multiple times this past week. The cashiers were both male and super sweet! They even helped refer me to k9 kanes resuce. This place was well staffed, and stocked!

I visited Petco, San Marcos, at the weekend to use the self-wash. We come often for a variety of reasons.Whilst I was at the checkout, a woman from the line stormed over and began shouting at me.From what I gathered, she had been waiting at the other checkout to pay for the self-wash and was directed over to the main checkout. As I had arrived at the store after her, but was ahead of her in the line, she felt that I had pushed in front of her.In response, I offered to let the woman be checked out first. She proceeded to swear at me and insult me whilst waving her finger in my face.The staff her are lovely and I do not blame them for what happened. Maybe a sign could be put up near the self-wash and at the smaller checkout telling customers wanting self-wash to pay prior at the main checkout. Hopefully this would prevent future upset, not that this womans aggressive behavior was justified.

Staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. This location seems bigger, but I could be wrong. They have a good variety of pet supply needs with a large amount of aquariums in stock. Overall, I am always a happy customer at this location.

The vet here is super good. My dog has Addisons disease. They make it easy to pick up here steroids she takes every day. They have also gotten me out of a pinch when I didnt have her injectable med. They sold me a single does the day she was scheduled to get it. Thank you.Picture is for an FYI

Went for a collar and bought a few things. Super organized, great prices, vast selection. Vet onsite and a do-it-yourself bath area for dogs. Helpful team here. Ample and easy parking. Will definitely shop here again and would recommend to others.

Not autism friendlyTook my four-year-old autistic daughter to see some fishes ended up getting asked to leave the store because she was stimming and she tapped the tank once!! I’m so disappointed and CANT WAIT to have my girls original groomer back ! So ANDREA P did my cocker spaniels cut her vibes were ok to begin with so I left at ease but when I got my dog back her right ear has a deep cut and two of her toenails were cut too short she had dried blood on her left paw and I noticed this when I got home I never check but since it was a new groomer I checked & I found these nips & cuts on my dog and not once did she address this to me she avoided me as I went in & someone else checked me out I thought that was weird but finding all these cuts at home I now understand why she didn’t approach me. She now is licking her paws non stop she shaved her down too much in certain areas where I can see her skin and it looks irritated. I’m upset and it makes me nervous having to take her again I really hope Courtnie comes back soon 😭

I hate having to write a review for a company that’s not at fault but the lady with a bob cut and red hair really gave an attitude. Someone who’s suppose to guide you into finding what is needed should do it with a smile on their face to know they’re helping someone out. I would hope to get common decency when asking a question. Shoutout to Marti who was so happy to tell me how cute my little puppy was in her pumpkin costume! My dog Minnie Mouse was sniffing outside, Marti came out so excited to tell me about the 20% off. I had no idea! I just really love Halloween 🤣. Went inside and took pictures and Minnie got lots of butt scratches. Turns out Marti and I share a wedding anniversary! Happy anniversary Marti! We always come every Saturday for socialization and treats. But I specifically choose this location over any other store because its big, clean, and all the employees are always friendly and kind. Some lady in a red bob with glasses was being really rude for no reason, i simply asked a question if she was not gonna sell the fish to us, and she said she did not need the attitude which there was no atitude in the question, she then continued to stare at me until i said something, i said do you need to stare at me and she responded with where else am i supposed to stare. it was really unprofessional of her. ive gone to that store a million times never once had a bad experience until today, im assuming she was the manager due to no name tag, but she sure didnt act like one.

Love coming here with my doggy to buy his treats and to take him do it yourself bath for your companion. Here they have a variety of things/stuff for your dog needs. The staff here are beyond awesome and they do care for your visit. They have reasonable prices and great atomohere to browse through with nice A/C to enjoy. Maggy is the person who I request for her help because she knows my doggy for a long time. Go ahead and give them a visit and please dont forget your mask. Music is so loud in the store I cant remember what I needed to buy. My dog was scared to death because the music was so loud. Time to replace management. Not to mention this is animal crulity. Animals have sensitive ears.

Really a different feel for a pet store. The displays make everything feel more boutique, and its really designed as a one-stop-shop for your pet: self-serve wash, grooming, dog training, dog daycare, dog walking, vet services, and a feature are with the refrigerated Just Food for Dogs food products. I grabbed a free coffee while an employee walked me through recommendations. Well worth a membership for the store-wide lowered prices, free vet visits, discounts to services ($2 self-wash!), and more.

I had two appointments to get my dog groomed. The first time I showed up and told them that my dog was on anti anxiety medication that the vet right next door in the same building confirmed I could use to get my dog groomed. Come to find out the doctor I saw was a “fill in” (which was not disclosed to me) and everything that I was told went against their policy and they turned me away for my dog being on medication that was recommended by one of their “Vets” . The second time I came in and my dog was not on the meds and guess what he was anxious and growled at one of the groomers and they turned me away again, they are not helpful whatsoever and I would not recommend them to anyone. Thanks for wasting my time and gas for nothing.

I walked into this Petco that I have never been in before in San Marcos on Las Posas Road. I was looking for a flea product for this friend of mines cat, because shes unable to go in because of the COPD and the person at the cash register knew about the product not being carried anymore the other employee went in the back looking for it, but the cashier she recommended another product and it ended up being less expensive and just very friendly very clean store and I will be back from my cat

Grebia and Sam were so helpful and patient with me today! Great customer service and an understanding and welcoming team. I had a huge emergency that I needed to tend to and in the midst of my chaos they offered flexibility and it’s obvious that they really do care about their job.The dog trainer Christine is amazing! My dog adored her and I highly recommend her because we saw an amazing improvement in our puppy’s behavior at record speed.This is the best location for your pet.

My review is solely on the self wash. The staff was good and set me up to wash my own dog. Being my first time, she explained everything to me. I liked the concept, however I was disappointed in the way they watered down the shampoo. It comes through the same hose as the water, so its very water down but you do get some suds. After washing my dog a couple of times, I tried the conditioner, which just seemed like water. My dog doesnt even smell like she just had a bath. I wont use the service at this location again.

Love this place... my dogs and cat do too. I became a member right away cause its a great deal (1st free month then $9/mo per household!) and I get $2 dog wash, free office visits and lots of discounts in services and products. I can also bring my pets here for vet visits, training, and hopefully soon day care! The store staff is super helpful too, and who doesnt like a latte and free wifi while your dogs get a nail trim. Check out the Taco Bar nearby as well, its a great shopping center.

Petcoach staff are always wonderful! Weve had Pebbles to train and for grooming and both coach and groomer were amazing! This past weekend Pebbles needed a lot of tangles removed and a de-shedding, Laura was sweet, caring and overall exceptional. The grooming team here is ridiculous. My mom brought my Samoyed in to get groomed today, and I heard the groomer describe my dog as manic and crazy and talked down to my mom the entire time. She also was surprised my dog was large, when we clearly stated his size, weight and breed in the appointment scheduler. The groomer said she wouldnt be able to provide the adequate care due to his size and excitement, which is crazy for an establishment that exists to groom dogs of all sizes and personalities. My dog was in a pet store around other dogs and was understandably excited by the other dogs and smells. You would think the staff would be trained to respond to 1 year old puppies that are excited and provide proper care. They also said they are behind schedule and my dog would be too much work.. again, you knew his size, age and breed before hand..Anyway! The lesson is to support small businesses and people who are trained to respond to all types of dogs. Not a place that insults your dogs to your face and in front of other clients with passive aggressive corporate language. So unprofessional.

Since this re-opened a few months ago, I had not tried the self-wash station. I liked it and cannot see me going anywhere else. They have a shower head with different choices of shampoos and the water is already set to perfect temp. It was so convenient!Update: Since my original review, the truth is they couldnt keep the place clean if they wanted. The self-wash station is always full of hairs and the tile is slimy and dirty. Unfortunately they never seem to have enough staff members and the check out line is kind of slow most times.

I brought my 6month old puppy here so I could use the self wash station.The girl working there said she would bring me towels but never did, I had to call across the store for towels for my wet dog. She reluctantly brought me two small crusty towels. They never gave me an apron, even though it is advertised that the aprons are provided on the website, they are not. And although the discription also says “combs and brushes provided” it should say “one comb and rubber thing we call a brush but looks like chew toy provided” the blow dryer is freezing cold and my dog simply hated it. Overall it was not the best experience, they don’t want to be bothered to charge you, or bring you what you need, or actually provide a genuine Brush.

The grooming dept here is awful! Every time I bring my dog there’s an issue. They won’t take him if he looks tired they won’t take him if he looks scared, they wouldn’t take him today cuz his eye was just treated for an infection, it’s healed and he is finished with his medication but yet….it made them nervous to clean him. I mean, how inconvenient. Won’t be bringing him back again.

This review is solely for the grooming department. I used to take my dog to get groomed at the Petco in Escondido and recently moved to Oceanside. I got an appointment with this location about 2-3 weeks out, showed up to the appointment, and was immediately turned away. I was told that my diabetic dog was no longer able to get groomed here per a new policy that was just put into effect a few months ago. A policy that is no where to be found and when calling the customer service line, they also had no idea what they were referring to. I understand not feeling comfortable taking in a diabetic dog (even though shes been groomed by Petco for years), that was not the case. There was no sympathy, or even any help offered, just a no, we wont be able to do your dogs grooming service. There was no record of this policy on their website, it does not mention it when making an appointment, nor could I find it on any blog where people encounter similar things. Matter of fact, I even have it on her profile that she is diabetic so it wasnt a surprise, but was not informed of this policy until walking in. After making this report to customer service and filing for a former complaint, I have been completely ignored and have absolutely nothing for over a month

My husband and I are new to coming to Petcoach and we love it!! We have a big dog and a little and our bigger dog has a lot of energy! When we came inside the store he went completely calm, he let us bathe him in the store even! We signed up for the membership because it is SO worth its money! They get new toys or treats every month for free, $2 washes which were super convenient! And vet exams! AND discounts on anything in the store! The staff here were incredibly attentive, and friendly. Multiple employees came up to greet our dogs, offering them treats. It was a wonderful experience, truly! We cant wait to take them again! Highly recommend!!

Very friendly staff for someone like me who is a first time dog owner. Do-it-yourself dog baths are great. Membership saves you a lot of money and includes 5 free vet visits per year. Obedience classes are $50 off as well. Its great. We love the vet and the daycare is handy for us too. Had to do a last minute drop in at daycare and it was very convenient. Everyone there is very helpful and friendly, they really care about dogs

Service was great when they first opened but has worsen since. Their self wash station was advertised as open until 5:30 and we brought our dog around 5 cause we live very close by. We were told it was closing in 5 min. We went another day and it was closed due to maintenance. They also run out of towels I guess they have a set amount of towels for dogs and once they’re used up you’re out of luck.The cashier service was really great as well in the beginning and now I wish there was a robot there sometimes. I like to be nice to cashiers because I know how hard life is behind the register but these people have no soul left.They also did not offer online order and in person pickup for the longest time. I was greeted immediately upon entering the clinic. The check in process was quickly completed and I was led to an exam room. Dr. Massey and his assistant entered within a few minutes and greeted me and my dog, They performed an examination and asked relevant questions. Both Dr. Massey and his assistant were gentle and caring during the exam. Dr. Massey discussed his findings and treatment recommendations thoroughly, and his assistant quickly provided the ordered medication with complete instructions along with after care information. I was asked if I had any questions several times during the exam. All of the staff were gentle and very kind to me and my dog. The entire experience was very efficient and thorough. I was completely satisfied with the entire process.

Quick check in, the bath made her smell 1000% better. She got a well needed nail trim and ear cleaning. We got a free upgraded package since it was our first grooming session. I wish there was more time spent on the brush out. I spent 15 minutes at home with the brush to get the excess hair off. Overall, very happy though.I also gave my other dog a self wash and it was well worth the $2 (I bought the membership) to do so. I have 2 clean pups now!

This is by far the best Petco I have ever been to - in regards to the animals for sale in the store- the aquariums were very clean and fish were well, all of the habitats were very clean and made as natural as possible- when being held hostage (captivity) by kidnappers (Petco)! I take my pups here mostly for grooming. They are always excellent and very patient. One of my little ones has a lot of anxiety around meeting new people.Today they literally spent 40 minutes with us giving her treats and convincing her to walk to the back for grooming in the least stressful way possible! They are awesome and offered us to come by for “Victory Visits” where she can come in and walk to the back and get treats just to get her more comfortable with the process. I love the membership and have had a great experience! I hope they open more locations soon because I’m moving! 😥

The first time I took my pet in (last month) the vet was absolutely wonderful and took so much time with my pet and his issues. Wish I could remember her name.I brought my second pet in yesterday for a routine visit, who has never in her life been one bit aggressive and has been very socialized in multiple houses with multiple animals. She is a passive sweet rag doll cat. Because of covid I couldnt be in the room but I guess she was acting like a wild animal, not allowing anyone to touch her and bit a vet tech. I asked if it was procedure to not have gloves on when reaching for an obviously upset and growing cat. They said no...The Vet who was different this time was VERY rude, offered no solutions just asked me to take her home. I felt like I was being judged and shunned.I asked a different vet tech later after they brought my very frantic cat out if I could get some sedation for next time. Something I feel the VET should have offererd. Hard to tell what actually happened back there since I couldnt be there. My cat was completely fine and happy once back home. I will call and make sure I get the nice vet when and if I return.

We had a great first experience using their self bathing station with my 9 year old dog. Their employees were very helpful. We also had her nails trimmed and teeth brushed. I was able to get my dog Karma groomed same day. The staff here is very accommodating and the groomers took their time with my baby and recommended the right services and care plan. Although the services have long been scaled back, the groomers and staff keep me loyal and coming back. If they bring back the doggie daycare, I would be a customer for life!!

Its a really nice store, but the aquatic specialist today at two PM doesnt seem to know about fish. I worked at a Petco for four years and this girl asked none of the right questions nor did she acknowledge anyone around her looking for things. However, I was disappointed because when they switched from PetCo, they no longer carried products for our pet chinchilla. Ive had to either travel much farther or order from Amazon.Update: Since they renovated back to Petco, they have met our pet care needs more completely. We were able to get our dogs appointments at Vetco fairly easily. We use the grooming services regularly. I subscribe to monthly dog food deliveries. They now have everything we need and more for our chinchilla (bedding, hay, food, toys, chews). The only things we dont purchase from here are feeders for our amphibian and reptile. Theyre expensive and lower quality than our other source.

The staff at PetCoach is amazing! Our golden retriever DOES NOT like getting his nails buffed. This dog mama was so sad to see his tail tucked so far between his legs. But the staff was AMAZING with him. Not only did they give him lots of treats, but one manager went in the room and just loved on him while the groomer was buffing his nails. His nails turned out amazing and he got so much love in the process. If you have a dog who doesnt love grooming, bring them to PetCoach they make sure they are comfortable and make it as enjoyable as possible.

This place is getting on my nerves. The first time I took my dog for a haircut they couldn’t do it because supposedly his hair was “tangled” had “knots” so I had to take him somewhere else. The second time I took him to another haircut which was 3months later they were gonna do it so we dropped him off and 5 minutes later they called us and said they couldn’t do it because of the same situation of being “tangled or with knots”. The groomers are precious and seem to love all three of them. Once or twice over the years I have had a small issue. I just heard our Pet Coach in San Marcos will no longer be offering Day Care. This is a horrible corporate decision. The Pet Coach Day are was the best in all of North county with a staff that was super kind and caring. My pup who is now 11 months had been going there since she was 5 months old, and was always so well cared for while I was at work., I never had a worry when leaving her. Im not sure what they plan to do with this extra space, but Pet Coach Corporate, you have lost me as a customer, I will be cancelling my membership and wont return. Our dog, Sasha, had gotten a lot of foxtails stuck in her fur when visiting our friends house recently. We got most of them out, but there were a lot that were difficult for us to get to, especially since she had some matted fur on her belly and legs. It was chic, but cmon Its just a pet store people. The checkout was confusing with no clear place to wait your turn so people inadvertently cut in front of us several times. If you want to pay more for the same pet supplies you can get down the road, go ahead.

Dog self wash is really bad, very messy and they staff only allow you to use the cold air dryer. Avoid using their bath services. Go to a Petco unleashed instead.
