4/17/24My visit today at Perlman Clinic, Downtown La Jolla, was to have Lab work. I was greeted by Katherine A . She was very friendly and extremely efficient on checking me in for my appointment. I arrived early and was pleasantly surprised to be called back right away by Katherine, who drew my blood work. She was so pleasant, professional, and very thorough during the procedure. I had such a wonderful experience at Perlman Clinic ! The office was very nice and clean, the staff was very friendly and very respectful of my time! They saw me promptly, I saw Dr Ali and I couldn’t be happier in choosing him as my primary care doctor ! He was extremely personable and he sat down with me and really took the time to listen and thoroughly go over everything with me! I felt very comfortable speaking about my health concerns with him which is very important to me! Never once did he make me feel embarrassed or like I couldn’t bring something up! I’m so relieved I found this place! Woke up with a painful ear infection. My visit was so efficient and helpful — my nurse practitioner quickly identified the issue and prescribed the medications I needed while answering all my questions. And I didn’t even have to wait in line!

The NP Maggie and the man who took myblood (Taylor?....by the way, couldnt e en feel the needle enter my arm. Very good) were very helpful. Maggie knew my record and listened to my physical troubles. Our talk was very interactive. She showed she cared and looked for solutions. Taylor? was friendly and efficient. I appreciated the entire experience.Maggie also called later with results of a test and sent a prescription to my pharmacy.

Excellent, Dr. Jordan was terrific knowledgeable spent quality time with me. In helping me diagnose what was wrong with my eye. From the time of my arrival I was made to feel very comfortable when speaking to the receptionist I felt like she was expecting me. Every staff person I encountered was kind and caring. Because I was forced to change my PCP I was hoping for the best and actually got the better. My new primary is very thorough and made me feel at peace. She actually reminded me of my previous PCP in that she delved into every even minor previous diagnosis. After my first encounter I am sure I am going to be very pleased and will consider myself in good hands.

Dr. Discussed results of blood tests and ran an AI wellness check using those same results. She then gave me all the options for better health in a 10 year Plan. She was very patient when I asked questions. She explained each test result and why a particular option was suggested. I was very impressed at how thorough kind and professional they were. They asked a lot of questions and provided a lot of test to specifically identify what my condition wise. I got a lot of information and was treated specifically for my condition. I would highly recommend this clinic to anybody who needs medical assistance. Dr. Canelo, our PCP, is one of the most efficient, caring and smartest doctors we have ever had. He answers all of our questions right-away with confidence. He has a gentle, calming, bedside manner, and always gives us both sides of any medical issue, procedure, or drug so that we can make an informed decision. And when required, he has referred us to exceptional specialist doctors within the UCSD system. We highly recommend him. In fact we are changing our insurance in 2024 (our current carrier is not contracting with UCSD) so that we can continue to see him.

Look, the doctor and staff are great. They are clearly knowledgeable and an appropriate demeanor when handling patients. I had an incident where I needed blood drawn to verify immunization for varicella. At the doctors recommendation, I went ahead and approved a full physical be performed. Literally everything but the varicella test was done. Yes, the doctor identified some health related risks I am carrying and yes I am grateful. It just sucks when the primary reason you visit is not addressed.

I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Canelo. He is very compassionate. He listens. He cares. He was really excited that my bloodwork came back with improved results. And I have never had a doctor who knows so much about medicine. He keeps up with all medical information. I was going to move back to Portland a few years ago. One of the main reasons I chose not to do that was Dr. Canelo. You could not have a better doctor. His Medical Assistant, Jeanette, is the best. The rest of the office staff is very good to. And my appointments are always on time. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

One appointment with Dr. Al-Saleh is all it took to designate him as my new primary care provider. I had to get blood drawn and i get really nervous with stuff like that and immediately started crying. The staff was so nice, the technician gave me a big hug and distracted me while she was doing it that it was over before I knew it. Then brought me a snack! I really liked it here. I had to change PCP due to changing insurances and I met with a provider at Perlman Clinic. The PCP I chose was booked out for 3 months and I need some prescription refills and refills to my specialty doctors. I met with Lorraine, NP the next day instead. I was nervous because I have been going to the same provider for so long. But when I stepped into Perlman Clinic I was very comfortable. Every part of the process was so easy. Setting up my PocketDoc and MyChart accounts. Checking in to my appointment. The front desk staff were so nice and so was the Medical Assistant who roomed me. I met with Lorraine and she spent a very good amount of time with me for my visit. She got to know all of my medical history and she was so friendly. She placed my referrals and refilled my prescription without a problem. She even informed me about my free annual visits I can get as well as she explained the process for the mental health and OBGYN services that Perlman Clinic. Lets just say, I am MORE than pleased with my experience. I am very comfortable with Lorraine, NP taking over my care.

Stephen Caso is the best PA @ Perlman Clinic La Jolla. I trust him implicitly with my care and l have been seeing him for over six years. I had an emergency and my MD was booked so l had to see him instead. l was so satisfied that l stayed with him. It was like a fluke, but l am so happy about that. I would leave zero stars if I could. I have bad seasonal allergies and the last two days can feel the congestion coming on. I went to the office for a visit and was told since I have congestion (one symptom of Covid + 10000 other illnesses) that since I need to be feeling bad for at least 5 days to be able to see a doctor on site so I had to schedule a teledoc visit. An hour later I had the video chat where the dr prescribed me nose spray (again, for congestion?) and I went to cvs two hours later to pick it up. From there the clinic had given the pharmacy my wrong birthday so they couldn’t originally find the pick up, then once we dug through that I was told this nose spray is on back order. (Which means I can’t get it today or the next few days) from there I called the clinic again where the person who answered was very irritated that I was even calling. I told her the situation and she didn’t have a resolution. My response was “so I paid for a visit, got prescribed a medication that is out of stock but I am still sick so what do I do” from there she put me on hold, tried to talk to the teledoc who prescribed the meds. They were busy and she said they would call back later. Two hours later I received a voicemail from the provider saying just to take an over the counter nose spray. (Again, for congestion? And I could’ve known to do that without a doctors visit). I tried calling and the dr was already gone for the day, so they said to try again on Monday and they’ll see where it’s in stock. The entire process was ridiculous for just trying to get the medicine I was prescribed to feel better. The clinic made it seem as if I was bothering them (to do the job they get paid for)

I believe that this location is one of the newer Perlman Clinics and you can tell! This clinic is spacious, super clean and the lobby is comfortable and nicely decorated. I was an urgent care walk-in patient and the ladies at the front desk were very sweet to me and helped to get me checked in right away. I especially love that this clinic is conveniently located near a trolley stop, so I can get there very easily.

I have been seeing Dr. Perlman since 1999. There is a good reason I have been with her for over 20+ years. Simply put she cares about her patients. She listens, provides candid feedback, spends the time to diagnose the issues and provides clear directions on her assessment and treatment. She’s is very good at responding to your queries in a timely manner. She puts her patients at ease and is very none judgmental.Just like her, her staff from the front desk to PAs to other physicians in her practice are very good at their job.I have seen in particular Stephen Caso one of her PAs over the years and he is excellent just like Dr. Perlman at listening and diagnosing your issues and providing a sound plan of action for your treatment.My only issue is I drive 45 minutes to go see her. One day hopefully she will open a practice in San Marcos close to my house. But worth the drive.She is also available on tele-health video. If you can’t drive to one of her locations.

The reviews here are not representative of the Perlman Clinic experience. If you need an urgent care facility that can get you in quickly and you are fine paying whatever, then sure. This company is literally the fast food of healthcare. You never get to see an actual doctor, the PAs refuse to call you back with lab results, they try to get you to pay for another appointment to hear results and show absolutely no care. The bait and switch tactics make you not trust the providers. It is honestly an embarrassment to call this place healthcare. Would never go back (especially considering they allowed serious test results to go unnoticed with zero care or concern).Needs a complete process and policy overhaul - they should all be ashamed.

I recently joined The Perlman Clinic as my new health care facility, after many years with the Family Health Center. After 3 visits, I can tell you without fear of contradiction, that The Perlman Clinic indeed, puts on a clinic everyday, for every patient under their care. Its a 1st class facility that has nothing but the best health care professionals available to provide the best health care possible. I go to the Perlman Clinic in La Jolla, but there are many other locations, including in Downtown San Diego. Im Doug Young, a native San Diegan whos 66 years young.
