This is my absolute favorite coffee shop. Always has the best smells & vibes. Their Onyx Monarch coffee is straight fire. Barista kills it on the bar & everyone is really friendly. Food is great too. My favorite is the avocado toast with eggs & bacon. Their pastries are amazing too.

Espresso is very tasty, they serve it with a sparkling water. Cortado was very rich and creamy.They offered to warm up the scone we ordered - thank you!Update 05/19/2024Since our last delightful visit two weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised to receive two discount codes - a $5 token of appreciation for our first visit and a $10 birthday gift (courtesy of Square online - I’m still trying to figure out what I did to deserve it 🙈). So, with a sense of anticipation, we returned today and indulged in 2 creamy cortados and 3 delectable pastries - all for the unbelievable total of around $5! It felt like we had stumbled upon a hidden treasure! We are absolutely thrilled and can’t wait for our next visit! The cortado, I must say, continues to be an outstanding delight! ❤️

This place is my second home. I come here habitually, with that I am always welcomed with the upmost gratitude for being there. I always end up learning something new about the staff. They are such wholesome people who create some of, if not the best coffee I’ve ever had. The building itself is very homey, the music is superb, the coffee is phenomenal, the staff is very diverse. This place forever holds a place in my heart.

With a limited menu I wasn’t sure if I’d find something that I’d enjoy. I tried a iced butterscotch coffee with milk and it wasn’t bad, but the almond croissant was delicious which really surprised me since it was flat as a board (never seen that before) the sign said that they come from ettore’s so there’s no surprise that it was delicious 🤤The person helping me was very friendly and nice but the lady making the drinks was the opposite. She acted like she really didn’t want to be there.The Restaurant seemed to be clean with lots of beautiful plants around 🪴

The owner Paul is a humble, respectable, and friendly man. This coffee ☕️ shop one of the social hubs in our community. The baristas are friendly and respectful. There is plenty of parking and outside seating. The interior rustic/industrial decor makes for a pleasant way to spend your time. Come check them out.

Its been over a year ago since my last visit to PAUSE. I was really pleasantly surprised - the coffee was great (I ended up having 2 mochas) and the vibe was welcoming. The only downside is the lack of seating and tables inside. Its quite a sizable area, and they could add some additional tables and chairs and reorganize to make it more usable. That said, I am adding it to my list of go to independent coffee shops in the Fair Oaks area. They sell ONYX coffee for purchase which is an added bonus!!!

I went there second time last weekend. Very busy around 11:00 am. They were serving coffee in to go cups instead of proper mugs even for people sitting in.One person was on the order counter and 2 people making coffee. They took my order but messed up. I had asked for 2 Almond Croissant to go along with poppy seed pastry and chocolate pastry. Instead of Almond Croissant they gave me another cheese pastry.Got Cortana coffee but it was half filled on 8oz cup for ~ $5.00. That was a rip off.I didn’t like how less coffee was provided and order was messed up. I wouldn’t blame on staff as they tried their best to serve 40-50 people around same time. Management should staff more folks during weekend as the coffee and pastries are delicious indeed and the staff are doing a nice job. My first time there few weeks ago I had an almond croissant with vanilla latte and it was delicious.I would go back for coffee and pastries, just maybe not at the rush hour on weekends. Hope this feedback helps to improve and as a kudos! :)

They take the “Pause” really seriously here. They stop to chat with friends, andCompletely stop making your drink. The coffee is great I had it a couple other times, But without good service what’s the point of having good coffee? A good coffee shop has a good coffee and good service work on your service. I’ll give it another shot in the future, but as of now, it was a disappointing visit.

Great coffee and pastries. Most places have one or the other. I can recommend the vanilla latte and the chai latte. My favorite pastries are the almond croissant, Chocolate cookie and poppyseed cinnamon roll . Sometimes hard to find seats, but there is also outdoor seating. Clean modern cafe.

I was going to add a picture of my latte, but I already drank it. Lol! I drink a lot of coffee. I almost consider myself a coffee connoisseur at this point lol! I truly have to say that I savor every sip of my drink when I come here. I don’t know what they do differently, but whatever they’re doing is working. My current favorite is a hot honey Lavender oat milk latte. Absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a cute study vibe or a place to catch up with a friend, I highly recommend stopping in. Pause Fair Oaks is great, Im there all the time. But Ive never gotten over how poor their seating is. Every chair inside is significantly lower than the table, as though their purpose was to deter you from sitting there in the first place. Your chair probably squeaks and wont sit flat either, and your table probably has the same issues. Pause needs to hop on this.

I stopped in after a bike ride to take a break. I ordered a chai latte and my headband ordered the macchiato. The drinks came out promptly.The chai latte was delicious (good balance of spice) and smooth.My husband enjoyed his macchiato as well—according to him, it was robust and creamy.This place just opened up so they seem to be working out some kinks (shortage of seating) but it’s nice to have a coffee shop with character in Fair Oaks. It reminds me of a coffee shop downtown that I used to visit.One minor gripe—they lack a good assortment of pastries. I’m a fan of some sort of accompaniment with my drinks. I settled for a Madeleine (always a good standby), but I’d like to see a great lineup of pastries to match the quality of drinks and overall unique style of this place.

We love the vibe and atmosphere of pause coffee house. The baristas are all welcoming and so friendly. They are so friendly to us when we have the little one, even though there arent many kids inside since people are working on their laptops, we feel very welcomed. And they are so eager to teach us about their menu and products they offer. Also, the coffee is amazing. I get an almond milk latte or an oatmilk latte -- and it is so smooth and sweet. Theyre one of the few places who carries oat milk which is what initially brought us there! Very happy to have found this place.

I had planned to meet my friend for coffee and I gave her the option of this spot or another nearby coffee chain. She luckily chose this space and I was delighted. This time I ordered a cappuccino and a almond croissant. The croissant was light and delightful and the cappuccino very well made. The espresso was nice - full body, low acidity - and the foam was rich and slightly sweet. The service was great and I appreciate the attention given to all the customers. Definitely a spot to go when in this area. Just delightful.

Had a great coffee experience at Pause with my parents! Power was out up the road so we happened upon Pause as a second option, but quickly found them to be phenomenal and well-worth the trip. My wife and I were visiting from out of state and got two perfect drinks today - a cortado and a cappuccino. My favorite chairs are the grey soft velvet swivels with a splash of gold glam near the back wall. The baristas are friendly and care about making your cup perfect without being pretentious.

The staff and the food are great!Even when I dont come in for a while, staff still remember my order.Im picky about my hot chocolate and this place has better hot chocolate than that famous famous coffee chain we all know...one of which is diagonal from Pause. They dont make my hot chocolate hot unless I ask because theyre usually making hot chocolate for kids. And I was like, how sweet is that for the staff to be mindful of kids burning their tongues on a hot drink.I like coming here because of the down to earth, personal touch of everyone there. And I love to support local businesses!

Pause coffee is my favorite in the fair oaks area. I come here at least twice a month to grab coffee with friends. Their lattes are really good, and have a nice flavorful espresso. However, if you’re in a hurry to get somewhere, you should expect long lines Sunday mornings. They could definitely rearrange or have someone who knows about, interior decorating and rearrange. The seating. The stools are super uncomfortable, and they only have one couch with a lot of open space. I think they can definitely use the space more wisely. To be more inviting and useful.

I live in San Diego and have an ECM espresso machine I typically use but when I visit family in Fair Oaks and Folsom, Pause is without a question my go-to cafe. I’ve been going to Pause for over 5 years now and they consistently serve quality espresso. I like that I can choose between a blend or single origin when ordering a double espresso. I’ve also ordered their cold brew coffee at times 16oz or their larger take home bottle which is also a great drink on those hot and humid days up here in the Sacramento area. Definitely worth a stop whether you’re from the area or visiting, enjoy!

Best Cold brew in Sacramento. Hands down. That’s a big statement I know, but test it. I’ve had everything. And if we are talking good old fashioned cold brew, not nitro, or Kyoto style...Pause Coffee house wins. I mean, they use Onyx Coffee Lab! World class rosters... Smart move. Also, you don’t have to be super cool or know anything about coffee to come here, so yeah. Just put on your ugg boots, spray on that tan, and come get some coffee!

I go to Pause Coffee House (on Madison) 2-3 times per week because I work remotely. So I’m typically there for several hours each visit. Pause is definitely in my top 3 for coffee shops. The staff is always friendly and the service is great. The food options are pretty good too. My favorite food item is the bagel sandwich with a jalapeño cheddar bagel. They have decent pastries too. My favorite part is the environment: real plants; high tables and chairs (because I like to switch between sitting and standing); the rustic/iron and wood furniture and decoration; and good coffee. I highly recommend this place.

By far the best coffee house in Orangvale/Fair Oaks/Citrus Heights and maybe the best in the entire East Sac county. Great brown sugar latte and they serve Ettores pastries delivered fresh daily. The cook makes great eggs as well and I am very particular about my eggs.

The best matcha tea lattes in the world! I mean maybe someone else does it right but mostly I’m disappointed anywhere else besides when I get one here. They use quality ingredients, thoughtfully and properly mixed. Never ever have powder left at the bottom! I love their house made syrups, tea selections and their coffee/espresso drinks are really fantastic too ( I come for the matcha consistently, but only because I now limit my caffeine intake). It’s all really delicious! Their pastry selection comes from a place in Sac that’s well known, I forgot where… it’s hard to just get one. The cinnamon rolls are my favorite- made with a croissant dough and are light and flavorful, with a light, thin layer of sugar based frosting. I am also a very big fan of their breakfast bagel sandwich and buy it often. The ambiance is clean, modern, comfortable and airy. Baristas are friendly and many have stayed for years. This is a real coffee house, not a chain store. Their coffee is excellent. There are no fancy frozen sugary drinks just the standards, espresso, coffee, lattes, mochas. I tend to read reviews from other fellow coffee snobs since peoples standards generally seem pretty low.My boyfriend and I just moved to the Sacramento area from Chicago and have been scouting for the perfect cafe only to be left disappointed as every highly rated locations coffee was either too acidic, overly roasted beans, or burnt from hot temperatures while idling. (I understand this dilemma as Im sure some customers expect their coffee to be hot after their weekly commute to work, but it completely destroys the quality of potentially good coffee).One google user recommended Pause coffee rather than the coffee she disapproved of in her review. She was right. Pause coffee is perfection. We tried a sample of their drip coffee. I let my sample cool as a true test to its acidity and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth it was. It had the perfect balance of smoothness and body. I ordered the lavender latte and it was creamy but not heavy and the lavender complimented the coffee. Too often businesses will add too much sugar and syrups to compensate for their low quality coffee. Pause coffee house seems to get it.The staff was chill, informative, and accommodating. I was bummed leaving my favorite coffee shop in Chicago, *cough-darkmatter-cough*, butI found my new favorite here in Sac! 💕💕

Came in for a business meeting, left a convert. Ill say this: dont go in expecting Starbucks. I waited about 5 minutes start to finish while the person in front of me ordered and the person behind the counter fiddled with the register. But I ordered a decaf oat milk maple latte (12 oz. only if its not to-go, $7 all in), and received it just a few minutes later. The mug was full to the brim and had the foam piped in the shape of a heart.Yall, this coffee was AMAZING. The roast itself was perfect - strong, but not over-roasted. And the maple, which can easily be overpowering, was noticeable but not overly prominent. It was just the right amount of sweet and rich.Maybe the register issues were just a fluke, maybe theyre a regular thing, but the quality of the product will certainly keep me coming back when I have time.

This place is new but it’s already famous like it’s been here for ever! Super delicious coffee and tea. The vanilla latte is bomb! The environment is very fresh and welcoming! Oh and not to forget the coffee art is on point! Definitely our new joint!

Downtown vibe in the burbs. Bright, spacious, airy...a good remote working spot. Coffee is yummy but the food selections are disappointing. Donuts with sprinkles that look like they could came from the corner donut shop cheapen the artsy/cool vibe and make the outside sign advertising food a bit of a misnomer. When something says food I think of something more substantial than cheap baked goods. Without food, I wouldnt stick around for long either. Regardless, excited to see where this place goes.and grows. We need something other than Starbucks around here.

Pause is a nice third wave / specialty coffee shop and has a diverse selection of Onyx beans. My pour over (V60) with Onyx Lecrae was very tasty.

Nice time to ate a brunch, but the restroom areas were isolated from the Lounge area with caution yellow tape. Otherwise the Coffee Shop is cozy and the staff is nicer to customers. Happy to return anytime soon.

On my first visit the card reader wasnt working so they let me have my coffee and for the inconvenience gave me a free drink card for my next visit. It was not inconvenient at all because they were all super nice about it. I will definitely be coming back again and again, and will happily pay. Thanks guys!

Honestly, even if you are not a fan of coffee. You should just visit for the chill rustic, modern atmosphere! And Im not saying the coffee isnt delicious, far from it! This place is just a hidden lil jew of pure good vibes. The service was fast and friendly, made me feel like i was visiting an old friend, shareing stories about the good old days over some warm coffee. The seating is a amazing with old timey chairs and modern ones super comfy. Definitely a nice place to just relax and have a lovely cup of coffee and study college work.

The girl working at Pause was very unfriendly and when I told her I really liked the coffeeshop and how did she like working there...she gave me a dirty look and said...well Ive only been here a week...and seemed annoyed with me. I am going to try the Olive Branch coffeeshop next time. I dont want to go to a coffeeshop where the person working there is annoyed that I like their coffeeshop....thats crazy!

Very Spartan decor. Pretty good coffee selection in terms of types of preparation. First place Ive been where they offer a aeropress coffee. Kind of a strange seating situation, and some of the stools and chairs were uncomfortable. Just not a place I want to hang out.

First time in Pause Coffee House, my guest and I found it a very pleasant place for a short business meeting. Bearclaws were first class, coffee was ok,not great or served hot enough. Didnt take the time to ask them to correct it though... As I said, very nice environment.

Stopped by this gem this morning with the idea of supporting a local business during COVID. Fell in love with this place. Amazing honey lavender latte and gluten free granola bowl. My girlfriend also got a caprese avocado toast which looked amazing. Will definitely be back. If you live in the Fair Oaks area this place is a must try.

Love the ambiance here. Ive been coming here off and on since they opened their doors. The staff is always super friendly. I had the chai latte with almond milk on my most recent visit and it was very good. I appreciate being able to sit outside.

I was visiting Pause from Southern California and this is an “always” destination for me when I visit. In fact, it’s multiple times per visit if time allows. Hands down some of the best coffee in the greater Sacramento area and the staff is beyond great in their coffee skills and people skills.
