Our home is west facing in Southern California and the sun made it hard to enjoy our backyard until we reached out to Patio Kits Direct and installed our patio cover. Now we get to comfortably enjoy the outdoors all the time! The team is professional, experienced, and sharp. Material delivery was smooth and well communicated and executed. Install was straightforward and we are so satisfied with the result. Can’t recommend Patio Kits Direct more!

The designer (Jaime) was easy to work with. I am a bit disappointed here’s why;I paid 9800 for this alumawood awning. The cuts do not fit flush but okay nobody’s perfect. I opted for the light option and for those who want them note you will have to buy your own wiring to connect the lights together and run them to a box. I would’ve figured after the amount I paid there wouldn’t be anything that I would have to buy. The concrete bolts that hold the posts to the ground were very weak so you’ll want to buy some better ones. I got the insulated roof. Thats the part I’m stuck on now, because they didn’t send the longer screws (4” hex head x110). I wanted to get the job finished but not even ace could order them which I’m glad for because I’m sure that would’ve been another $200 out of pocket, so my only choice was to call the company. I was told by Rosa that I was supposed to check and measure every item delivered whithin 5 days and they might not be able to help me. She made sure to mention twice but hey how about I paid enough money for the crew sending the stuff out to make sure they have everything correct knowing somebody somewhere has to put all this together. Rosa said she would let me know when they got word on the hardware. She didn’t. After 6 days of crickets, I reached out and she told me they sent them out what is now 4 days ago via ups. I’m 1 state over (4 hrs drive) and I happen to work in the shipping industry… 4 days and nothing? The least Rosa could have done knowing I’m waiting is get some faster shipping. Again I paid quite a bit of money for this. I guess I just expected better than this. Note the caulking is like an oil base and is really good stuff. The hardware isn’t the best. No wires for the lights. These are things Patio Direct should seriously consider fixing. As well as some of the customer service practices.

I havent put together the kit but so far the experience with this company has been amazing. From picking the design on the website to the delivery. Everything is nicely labeled and organized together. Rosa Ramirez has answered all my dumb questions and helped me find all the parts in the inventory. We built our new non-insulated patio cover with lights/fan beams from Patio Kits Direct over the last 3 weekends.5 stars for the quality of the materials, for the sales team and assistance with design!5 stars for Shawn and his help during the build (answering questions, etc).5 stars for the value to price ratio!3 stars for Rosa in the office. Very abrupt. “I work from home so I can’t do that right now”. Not able to answer questions.2 stars for the DIY instructions. The pictures were outdated and in error. Steps were missing or not pictured. *PLEASE PLEASE FIX FOR UPCOMING CUSTOMERS.3 stars for videos. Some are helpful, some a very outdated and no videos on important steps (like wiring).Pros:- material- paint on material- quick delivery- Design help/experience- overall look and durability of the structure! We have gotten so many compliments- easy project for average DIY person with the tools required (make sure you have the right tools!!)- fun to assemble (I didn’t think I would say that, but it was like building with Legos!)Cons:- we had several issues with wrong parts delivered and lack of a certain screw (but tons of other screws). I would HIGHLY recommend looking through everything with the parts sheet AND the instructions right after it is delivered. According to Rosa, the claim takes 7-10 days just to process and then additional time to ship to you.- phone help is only available on weekdays and up until 2pm on Saturday. We built ours on the weekends and ran into issues Saturday evening/Sunday, which caused us to have to wait until Monday for help.- Need extra screws!!! I went to Home Depot twice for screws that 1) weren’t included, but were on the instructions sheet 2) ran out of one kind of screw even though I followed the instructions to the letter.- the instructions NEED to be clearer and up-to-date. Including videos would be VERY helpful.

Horrible company. I ordered a patio cover from them and almost the entire order came damaged. Deep scratches down to the metal, and dents. Their response? Just use some touch-up paint. Why would I spend $4K for a kit that is supposed to be factory painted and maintenance free just to apply touch-up paint because they cant deliver a quality product. After hours of taking pictures and sending emails I finally got them to replace the entire kit. Great! Not! The replacement pieces were also damaged and they are refusing to replace them. Their response? Just use touch-up paint. Save yourself some time and go with another company who is competent.Update 8/7/2023 - I finally got them to agree to replace the damaged replacement items. We verbally agreed they were going to send new parts. When the parts showed up I found they had just spray painted the old ones and just shipped back. Super dishonest company.

What a great experience I had with Patio Kits direct, everything turned out great, I am very pleased! Shawn was extra helpful in answering my phone calls and texts and was very knowledgeable on the install. They shorted me some post mounts and I had people coming the next day to install, so they next day shipped them to me, which was so great. I do have a couple of small complaints, one is with the lights I bought from them, they get them off of amazon and ship them to your house, they should have just told me what lights to buy off amazon, instead of charging me $$$ for the lights. Shipping: I had to drive from Utah to CA to pick up my awing, because they dont ship, I do wish they would ship, I know of at least three neighbors now that want patios but wont make the drive to CA. If youre a DIYr, this is the right company to deal with. A+++

I would recommend Patio Kits Direct to anyone looking to DIY build an Alumawood Patio Cover. We saved over $10k building it ourselves. Its so easy to do. Deena was awesome. Answered all of our questions both email and phone. Even went a step further for preparing plans and documents to submit for a building permit. She even gave us a military discount and thanked me for my service. The kits come complete with everything you need to install. Our kit was a 13 x 56.6 cover. Took us three weekends to build with two people. It took a little longer due to the local building departments requirements and inspections before we could attach to the home. Very simple and very affordable. Very pleased with the outcome. Gonna enjoy this patio cover for many years to come. Thank to Deena and Patio Kits Direct.

Five stars plus! I had been looking for a patio cover, but was getting outrageous prices from contractors. I googled DIY patio covers and found Patio Kits Direct in Wildomar. We previously lived in Murrieta so I was familiar with the area. We went to Patio Kits Direct showroom and Bill welcomed us. Within minutes we had a design and Katlyn had priced the job out. We even discussed installation, and Bill was able to recommend an installer. No high-pressure to sell mea patio cover. Bill even came down to my house to do a quick measure. The office people, Mikky and Rosa were fantastic. They set up easy billing and kept me informed on the delivery. I had a checklist for all the material and just a little snag in delivery, which was fixed within 24 hours. Great company and great people!! Thank you Patio Kits Direct

Patio Kits Direct has been great to work with. Especially Andrew who has reached out to me several times to answer questions. They have answered all my questions and helped me feel at ease with ordering my patio kit through them. The process is easy, the product looks great. Ive used the online design tool so that I can see what options look like on my patio kit. I cant wait to start building my dream patio cover. Will upload a photo of my completed project when done.Update: Finished patio kit and very pleased with the end results. It was a little more challenging that I originally thought but I had some tricky parts to my patio. One of my boxes was damaged in shipping and staff at PatioKitsDirect was awesome and re-ordered and shipped replacement parts as fast as they could. Had some questions while building the patio but staff was very helpful in answering these questions. Overall very satisfied and would recommend going this route as you save quite a bit of money doing it this way.

You better check everything you order because they don’t. It’s up to you to make sure everything is there and not damaged. I was missing one piece. It was such a hassle to prove I didn’t get that piece, I just paid for it ($60).Plus the videos they have to help you out are absolutely terrible.

I have to say that I would absolutely order another patio cover from PKD. My expireince with their entire team was nothing short of amazing! Starting out my sales rep Steven Runyan, did a great job walking me through the entire process. He was very responsive and most importantly made sure I was ordering exactly what I needed. He didnt try to upsell me like most of the other companies I called to get quotes on which was another plus for me.Once I made my purchase, I was setup with Rosa Ramirez who is their customer service executive. Again, she was very responsive and answered all email communications promptly. Lastly, after reading a few negative reviews, I noticed people complaining about the time frame. Rosa kept me informed on the production and delivery of my product. She said it would be 3-6 weeks and I got it within that time frame.I will be ordering from them again and I recommend them for anyone else.

So far i have very little positive to say about patio kits direct. The kit took over 2 months to deliver due to back ordered materials which Katie assured me had not been affected by Covid and were not back ordered until finding out 2 weeks after i placed my order that they were. One of the boxes with the wrap kit was damaged with the pieces inside damaged as well upon receiving. The flashing for above the hanger was not included nor were the 1 1/4 inch screws for screwing the hanger to the facia. No instructions were sent whatsoever, i had to reach out to their build assistance line to get a pdf file sent over. To their credit after reaching out about the damaged parts they said they would have new ones fabricated and sent out right away. Unfortunately that was almost 3 weeks ago and i have not received any confirmation of fabrication or shipment and my three emails since have not been returned from Katie. I had high hopes for this patio cover after reading good reviews however all the bad reviews i read had experiences matching what has turned out to be my own. i think the reality is you get what you pay for. Some luck out but I could have gone with the local alumawood installer for 500 dollars more which at this point sounds like a bargain. Hopefully i can just get everything to eventually get this thing up and not have wasted the 3 thousand dollars.

Almost done with 14X24X9 foot patio. From the moment I walked in the Main office every thing went smooth. With in minutes my order was verified and sent to the warehouse to be made. In about a week I picked up ALL the materials. The next three days my wife and myself installed the patio. Everything went together with ease. Only problem was the instructions need to updated and all the bags of screws need to be labeled, other wise is was good experience with this company and I wall use them again.

My experience at Patio Kits Direct was different. I walked into the Corona store not knowing what to expect. Honestly, I was expecting the salesman hustle or the type of service that, unfortunately, you receive at the big box stores. But this was different. The office staff directed me to the showroom and told me that they would get someone to help me. Katie then showed up and introduced herself, ready to help. She was very friendly and thorough and was able to answer most of my questions. The questions that she could not answer were not a problem; she immediately found someone who could answer.I ordered a kit and delivery was as promised. There was one small issue but that was the factory problem (mechanical) not Patio Directs problem.Installation was a breeze and I am in the process of buying two more kits. I have been into the office a couple of times since then for technical questions and everyone is pleasant and helpful.Overall, a great experience. I have recommended them to my friends.

Just want to give our experience with patio kits direct. We were in the market for a patio cover and my boyfriend is in construction. He wanted to build it himself. We reached out and dealt with Katie. She was very nice and invited us up to there showroom in corona. It was great to see the product up close and Katie was great. She helped us order and set up the pick up from Anaheim. We picked it up and she was still supportive when we had a couple questions. It turned out great. (Couple minor errors due to my boyfriend but don’t tell him I said that.lol). All and all the experience went great and I’d definitely recommend them to our friends. Definitely see why they have a great reputation!

Kit was missing a lot of parts and didn’t even come with a part list so I would be able to double check. I figured parts were missing while building and even bought my own caulking not knowing they that was supposed to be included.. **UPDATE FROM THE ORIGINAL: Despite the experience below, this patio cover has endured our very windy conditions like a champ. It also has endured several inches of snow, so all in all, this product is solid. I have not had to do any maintenance to it since installing.Im very happy with the end product (my rating is based on the experience and question of longevity) but there were a few hiccups along the way. The website is easy to use to design the cover but I saw an option to drill into a slab rather than digging out posts but I was unable to select that without talking to the sales rep. Being a DIY guy and not a professional, I did not realize that this option changes the structural integrity of the cover. The sales rep did not inform me of this. Although after purchase, I received a link to my design with the slab option with a little warning sign stating Your structure may be sound in your specific application, but we STRONGLY recommend that you hire a structural engineer to confirm that. PATIO KITS DIRECT CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAILURE OF STRUCTURES THAT VIOLATE AMERIMAX ENGINEERING. This probably should have been told to me when I selected this option by the sales rep. Then I elected to pick up the material on my own. For those that choose this, you should ask what your longest piece is and know that your trailer should be able to fit that piece flatly on it. I ordered a 196 cover but the longest piece was 226. I wasted 3 hours and a trip down to the facility, ending up paying for delivery in the end with no offer for reimbursement or deduction in delivery fee. After receiving the cover, there were many pieces that were mismeasured for some reason. The directions were pretty generic made for common options. Some instructions were wrong (i.e. 3/4 hex driver was actually 3/8 ) and I did not have enough screws as instructed, but screws in abundance of the wrong kind. I did not have rafter tails and I did not like the instructions on securing the front fascia because it only included install instructions with rafter tails. I plan to go back and modify the installation of that piece to get a cleaner look. All in all, a DIY guy with intermediate skills and an assistant can install the cover in a couple of days.

We absolutely LOVE our new patio cover. We were going to build our own patio cover of redwood, but once I did some research into the alumawood there was no comparing. The install went fairly smooth, the instructions they give you are not the clearest or detailed, but after sitting down and going through step by step before putting it up we got it figured out. Would like to see clearer more detailed instructions. Deena was amazing to work with. She was able to answer all the questions that arose immediately via email or phone. She was very kind and willing to help in any way she could. Great customer service. Turn around time was quick! We couldnt be more happy with our new patio cover for our new house.

After building a handful of patio covers I found this place. Company has an excellent interactive website and I was able to design a very elaborate patio cover without engineering. The app makes all the calculations. Give yourself 8-10 weeks lead time and you will receive an awesome, easily assembled Alumawood cover. Best design of all the kits I have built. Deena was the first person I spoke with and made it easy for me to make the decision to buy. She is a very smart lady and very important to the process. I have never been happier with a patio cover!

Terrible experience. Ordered some pieces (not even a kit) on March 01 2021. Promised 6 to 8 week delivery. Product NEVER came. Numerous calls to their useless CS manager never yielded any update of useful information.By June 9th 14 weeks later, I filed a dispute with my credit card. Finally, the dispute was settled August 5th 2021 with a full refund. VERY important - DO NOT pay these people cash for your order, only use a credit card. Once they have your cash you will have no recourse. They demand cash upon ordering (march 1st in my case). They offer a CC option for a little bit more. In my case, it saved me.Learn from me, go elsewhere!

My order took months to be delivered (yes even considering there may be delays because of Covid), the main posts were missing from my order, and multiple pieces were dented. On top of that, the quality of the aluminum is similar to what you would see on a gutter.They do have direct people you can reach, which would be a bonus, but they are rude and do absolutely nothing to help the customer besides blame it on the manufacturer.All in all, you might as well go to Costco and get a pergola there… better quality and you don’t have to deal with a nightmare of experience.

I love my patio! It is beautiful and provides the extra shade we needed living in Houston. Really disappointed with the lack of communication. Instructions are terrible. Comes with at least ten different screws and only on certain parts of the instructions can you find out a couple screws to use. The instructions need a huge revamp. As far as communication goes, I had questions about the “header” and “screws”, I called twice and was told I would get a call back. That call never came. A day earlier I left an email and it’s been four days with no reply. Basically put it together the way I thought would be best. Luckily my father who has an extensive carpentry background was able to help guide the way. He tossed the instructions and said it looked like a 6 year old wrote them. Pretty expensive gamble, but product is legit and if you can figure it out then I’d say it’s worth it. Moment they got my money, all communication was out the door.

I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for an Alumawood patio cover, because Patio Kits Direct has been a nightmare.I ordered my kit on March 17th and was told to expect a 5-6 week turnaround. About a month later I was told the kit would be delivered on April 26th. Then, on the supposed delivery day, I get a call from PKD that my patio kit could not be found in the Sacramento yard.Fast forward to today, its been 3 months(!!!) since Ive placed my order and I still havent received my kit or a new delivery ETA. Trying to get any information out of Rosa is like pulling teeth and Ive yet to receive any kind of apology from anyone at PKD.

Material colors & textures are great but the build instructions are NOT specific to your home. They are general to a roof attached to the wall. They should at least have build instructions for if your house is I shape build or L shape build etc. Instructions are not clearly marked for every post/beam etc just general pictures. I had 4 men who build houses and read build prints for a living that were clearly confused by the BS instructions given. Delivery was missing parts and sealants. And they do not just replace based on photos they have to open a claim with the builder as they are only a sales office. For the expense of it it was not worth the headache. As an xactimate builder myself, i can clearly say it would not be rocket science for them to make instructions more specific to each build. As the plans have to be made to order the structure anyways so a clear layout of all your parts with material sizes and colors would be much better.

The main person I went through was Andrew and I cannot give this dude more props. Great company as well. When I started looking at these kits, I knew nothing about headers, facia, pans, etc. Andrew spent hours talking to me on the phone and going over engineering drawings to ensure I was up to code. I wound up with a steel C beam that was inserted into the 18ft header beam and two posts. Even when the directions werent clear, I always got a call back and a good explanation of the procedures. If youre looking for a DIY project, can measure and have some knowledge of tools I cant recommend these guys enough. Very pleased.
