My husband made an appointment online to get Real ID. The website had him complete an application and stated which documents are necessary to bring with him.When we arrived we waited about 3 minutes. The clerk was very professional. We were out of DMV within 16 minutes!! That’s customer service!

Well this is more for the front desk reception area than anything else.I pay taxes, then I have to pay california taxes, then we have to pay dmv fees to just get around.I dont pay to get chastised by the dmv reception lady. If you ever stood in line at this office you will see exactly what Im talking about, it doesnt take long specially when things get busy.You should have done this, why didnt you do that, Its like some sort of superiority complex. But once you get past that obstacle things do tend to get better. Hit or miss but usually you can get someone who knows how to help. I suggest going online first.

I didnt get a number for employee but she was rude and my registration fees were 2373 yes thats right. I had to inform them that my truck was not able to tow 80000 pounds. I had to sign a Declaration saying that my truck wouldnt be over 10000 with any combo of trailer. I have no idea where 80000lbs came from i have a f350 thats only capable of towing 26000lbs. California is out of control, the fact is they dont wanted any diesel trucks in the state. It ended up costing 600. She told me I should be happy about that. I just dont understand the cost. We need to vote these people out of office. Be safe and God bless America

Thank goodness for employees like Desiree. She was so helpful and kind. I went in to renew my CDL, there was an older lady that seemed very rushed, and annoyed she didnt want for me to complete my renewal before 5pm.Wanted me to make an appt for the next day. Desiree was kind enough to say she could do my renewal in a matter of minutes. She did and Iwas out of the DMV at 5:01pm. Great job Desiree 👏 👍

Wendy and Yvonne are by far the nicest dmv employees I have ever dealt with. I wish all dmv employees did there job as well as these two young woman did. I was in and out in under 10 minutes to get my two sons first ID cards and I showed up 10 minutes before closing expecting to receive an attitude but that was not the case. Thank you both for being awesome. I am praying for raises for you both 🙏🏽

I had all the proper paperwork to register a vehicle from out of state to California. THIS DMV did not like a pick up could be registered as a non commercial due to the addition of a camper. The definition of truck and camper were printed, the policy of the DMV to register the vehicle as non commercial was printed, yet still they didn’t like it. Registration got suspended for no reason, further delaying the process. Rude employees at the counter, not just to me, but customers as well.

Concur with the recent positive reviews of DMV staff. We have found them to be professional, patient, and efficient. For example, hubby is not comfortable with computers & invariably has problems with completing tests & applications online. Seeing how stressed he was, today staff kindly printed out a hard copy of test for him.Also appreciate the quick initial assessment staff does to direct people accordingly.

Everyone who I have interacted with in person here has been incredibly kind and helpful.I felt that I should leave a review because I was shocked at how harshly the people coming in treated the people working here.I heard people yelling at the employees because the people didn’t bring in the correct paperwork.I was genuinely impressed at the kindness of the employees at this DMV.

Due to a computer glitch between the Social Security Department and the DMV, I had the unique experience of making several visits over a 2-week period to the DMV, and was therefore able to be present for a few hours of their operation. They are uniformly pleasant, polite and efficient as they interact with the public. Even if an error occurred, causing the client to make a 2nd visit, efforts are made to remediate solutions and satisfy the customer, which is not always easy. I was very impressed. Even when a homeless person with obvious psychiatric problems became disruptive, cool heads prevailed, the Director firmly set the tone for a calm but firm response to his outburst, and the professional people of the DMV continue to serve their customers. What a great organization!

I understand that due to the circumstances we are in right now we are all under a lot of stress and need to be patient and give grace. So I patiently stood in line outside with the understanding that I may have to return the following day, due to the amount of individuals in line. However, it is difficult to give grace when you finally reach the door only to be told in a rude manner that you will have to come back tomorrow because they have stopped accepting license renewals/ID applications for the day. This message could have easily been delivered in a kinder manner.

Literally every person that works there is so mean. I’ve worked in customer service for a long time. And I understand it’s stressful, and a lot of customers are mean too. But this was on a whole other level of bad customer service. Rolling eyes, mean remarks, rude tones. I’ve heard them whisper under their breath as well. It’s horrible. I mean this is like actually ridiculous. How is anyone there still hired. If you don’t like your job, and are having a bad day. Don’t take it out on other people.

I got my ticket online and was parking my truck and had to run inside because they had called my number already! Talk about no waiting! I was able to recover my regiatration and get my address changed by filling out a form and done! Oh! And the people in there are so nice!

I had a great experience today! Came in for a title transfer. Was sitting for about 3 minutes before my number was called. The woman that helped me was courteous and efficient. Today may have been a slow day, but generally I find the staff at this DMV to be friendly and helpful.

Waiting in line outside in 95 degrees for 2 hours takes a toll on the elderly without an appointment. Only 2 people running the counter with the line around the building is a disgrace of the integrity of the workers inside. Plus they had to stop helping people because the one in charge called a meeting, everything stopped for at least 15 minutes. My advise is if you have to go to the DMV make an appointment at least it will only take you 1 hour.

I never made it inside the DMV the wait line was over two hours long and it was after three PM. I guess it is true that it is regulation that people wait for four hours to do their business with the DMV. It is not just Paso Robles, it is statewide. Im sure the employees try their best to accommodate the public but when State Officials complain about the wait something is wrong. I was able to take care of my business on-line, thank goodness.

My license was getting ready to expire and due to covid-19 DMV is not taking any new appointments and the fact that I no longer could renew VIA mail I had no other option than to wait in line..... I showed up at just a little bit after 8am at the Paso Robles DMV .... and the line was already 25 people deep.... I wasnt sure if I was in the right line so I went to ask and the attendant that was helping people in line was very unwelcoming to say the least. Many of us are very confused with the new format and her attitude didnt help make it any easier so basically I left and came back around 12:30 only to find four people in line..... the same girl was still helping and I guess she was having a bad morning because the second time I encountered her she was very helpful and polite I only had to wait about 15 minutes outside and 5 minutes inside before I was helped by a young lady who was very nice and professional at window number 5...... I was able to get my REAL ID license and was on my way promptly.... I highly suggest going on the local website for Paso Robles. Location and you can get pretty accurate wait times therefore allowing you to go when its not too busy especially if you dont have an appointment. If it wasnt for that information I probably would have struggled to know when to show up especially being as I didnt have an appointment.... the long story short is to bring your patience ...plan your trip as best you can and it will be worth the effort..... thank you to the nice girl at window number 5 for being so polite and courteous and Im glad the girl on the outside became nicer as the day went on

Ive been to many DMVs in my day and none had the open availability and efficiency of the Paso Robles office. In and out under an hour with no appointment. If you are road tripping through Cali this is the place to renew your licence.

15 second transfer of title and twenty mins until close 11 employees there at stations yet only two serving the 12 remaining customers... Yeah California has got some nerve... DMV get your act together what dont you realize we pay your check via our taxes??? You serve us not right to make other harder working people waste so very much time for a two minute transaction. Some lady was there had been at 4:49 Since 3:30 and they had tons her to start over three different times all because it was one transaction at a time. How is that cost-effective and even tight if Im there to deal with car stuff and license and registration the number of transactions should not matter they should have to handle. Absolutely horrible. I waited outside in the cold shade for two hours before even getting inside. Part way through my wait they announced their Debit/credit system wasnt working and it was cash or check only. All I needed to do was re-register my car as a salvage, all fees already paid, just paperwork to turn in and an inspection. All told, two and a half hours. Absolutely ridiculous!!!

Purpose of trip: Title transfer of deceased Mother/BROTHER (title was in both names, brother was not deceased) to Daughter and Son in LawWAS NOT ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE TRANSACTION AFTER THREE ONLINE FAILED ATTEMPTSWent to DMV, no line, checker at door pretty knowledgeable about the transaction, waited only about 10 minutes for service from clerk and another 10 to complete the transaction. However the check previously sent got lost, so an additional check written. (At this point we just wanted it DONE!)4 stars because the visit to DMV went so smoothly, would have been 5 except with all of the problems online, the woman (Customer) beside us at the window was not wearing her mask properly and the counters in front of windows was not being wiped down.

Showed up at 3:27 pm to get my daughter a CA ID stood in line for 20 mins. Someone finally came and asked what I needed to do. And I told them only to be turned away after standing for 20 mins. I was told that they didnt have time, cause it takes 20 mins and their was already 7 in front of me. Apparently they dont want to work last 5. Very disappointing.

Rating a DMV office is dangerous business, given our California motor vehicle department does not have the best of reputations. Nevertheless, my experience was pleasant. With no appointment, I waltzed in there to register a vehicle and was out in 15 minutes. Staff was courteous and efficient, with the only damage being to my wallet. Warning, your milage may vary...

I need to get a new license in my state because its going to expire on my birthday, my current license is issued from Texas ... I am divorced... I had my birth certificate issued by the state of California, my passport issued by the United States federal government, insurance coverage by a most reputable Insurance Company, my voter registration issued by the state of California, my dissolution of marriage issued by a California Superior Court judge... and they would not give me a new license because I did not have a marriage certificate for marriage I was already divorced from. Now going in the DMV and getting direction was a most delightful experience, it was very fast, it felt comfortable to be in with all this covid going on. The lines were virtually short for a California DMV office so that its a plus. But the requirements for a safe driver to Simply get a license issued in her own legal name, cant be done because she doesnt have a marriage certificate from what 40 years ago from a marriage she is already divorced from... it sounds to me like theres a lot of wasted money going on in the DMV and the state of US vital records, because of course now Im going to have to pay $50 to $90 just to get a copy...I hope your experience is better than mine should you need one.

They never have enough people working at the same time which Im sure is hard on them to keep up with the high volume of clientele they get. They should hire more people to help. They also need to rotate the numbers they call. I had a B number, and every other letter was being called for a good hour before they stated calling Bs. I know everyone hates coming to the DMV because of how long it takes and how rude the employees can be. I think more staff and a better rotation can help them out a lot. Just an opinion.

The worst DMV I have ever had the displeasure of visiting (on multiple occasions). The first thing you will notice is the poor setup for lines and flow. The second thing you will be greeted with is hostility and indifference. The staff here are beyond lazy, incompetent, and rude. They will find any reason to tell you to leave (for instance requiring ID for an application that does not require ID and can be mailed). The appearance of the staff here indicates their level of professionalism. One can only hope that someday these tax payer leeches will get whats coming to them for wasting the time and energy of countless Californians.

Coming from Orlando where you really get the DMV experience, this office is a near treat. It took 90 minutes to get a California license, which wasnt a horrible experience. Everyone is nice and personable, the office is fairly clean and orderly. My only issue is they need another 2-4 people to open all windows and speed up the initial processing and vision tests.

So. Went here for a title transfer. Waited for over 2 hours only for the worker to scold me at the top of her lungs as to why i should have had done the title transfer earlier with out the smog while everyone in the office stares at her screaming at me. I have never been more humiliated, emberassed, and disrespected in my life. I am filing a complaint against the worker in hopes that they either take up anger management, or get a different job. Very rude and unprofessional. -Update, Went in this morning to turn in an extra forum i had to fill out, spoke to the manager about what happened the day prior, it was handled in a very prompt, professional matter. Disciplinary action has been taken to the said employee.

Came in at 10am. Registering a vehicle. Waited 4hrs only to leave. My son had to get picked up at school. I thought 4.5hrs is plenty of time. Nope. Plan on being here all day. If you have a cot you may want to bring it. The guys went to lunch and didn’t even call one registration number for over 1.5 hours. Everyone was dealing with the new Real ID. Why are we getting taxed more for registration, forced to get new issued ID’s, and still having to wait hours upon hours at these terrible offices the tax payers pay for. The woman at the front is absolutely rude and disrespectful. It appears like she tries to make things as difficult as possible. She did not provide the right forms or information but expects you to go and stand in line again and again, due to her providing misinformation. I did not hear one positive comment for 2 hours, every other customer was also irritated with her attitude. If you can, go to AAA for all your auto registration needs, do it, this place is hell and a complete waste of tax dollars. Quick story here: paid my registration on time, fixed my brakes, then smog tested my car, waited for the DMV sticker, looked on line (totally useless and no help) Finally made it in to the DMV and they said its been over 90 days since your smog go do it again, no record of it in their system, Im not sure how thats possible since its the states computer system and smog stations are just licensed to use it???? This is typical of government entities that create laws then distance themselves from the public in which they are supposed to serve so they dont have to deal with the issues they have created

However aside from the above, the poor set up, sloooow service AND the manager at Paso Robles DMV(Middle-aged, heavy set, huge eyed, middle aged woman with serious RBF) is probably the most unfriendly business person I’ve ever met in my entire life. The poor woman must be seriously unhappy. Therefore all of it creates a tense DMV experience. As if going to the DMV is enjoyable In the first place. God bless her. I won’t come back.

Appointment is the only way to go. I walked in and the lobby was packed ah but I had an appointment. I received my number, and in less than two minutes I was called up to handle my business. This was great but boy did I get a lot of dirty looks. Who cares it was so worth it.

Had an employee tell me i needed an Interlock Device for a dui from nine years ago and so I go and pay 75 to get compliant with the state another 150 for the device and then 150 for the install I come back with the certification and the Interlock Device installed I see a different lady this time i show her the certification and she tells me I dont need it she shows me the computer and that says I dont need it and the manager said I didnt need it so this lady cost me about 400$ and to take the device out was 112.50 so in all she cost me about 550$ and I got refunded none of it. This DMV is a joke! I will say tho the second lady I dealt with was alot easier to deal with and knew what she was talking about, I guess its my fault I trusted an employee of the DMV!

I have been to the Paso Robles DMV multiple times in last couple years and I have to say that there is a lady there that is just rude and mean EVERYTIME! Her name is Dorothy and works the front line when you first walk in. I have literally watched her be completely rude to the elderly. Its like she thinks we are all idiots for not knowing all the DMV rules, regulations and forms to fill out. She will actually say thank and use nice works but will have an attitude just for asking her a simple question. I pray that the Lord opens her heart and she smiles for once just to smile because she is one miserable person.

Im waiting in line, and one of the workers (Steve) just screamed into the face of a man who spoke no English. This man (wearing a mask) wasnt aware that he needed to be screened before he entered the building. He was then SHOVED out the door, and screamed at by the same worker (Steve) right into his face. I rarely leave reviews for places, but this is just unacceptable.

I waited to get my permit. I had an apt for 2 and I waited for 2 hours and arrived to the desk at 4 only to be told that they will no longer give out permit tests past this time and I had to redo a whole other apt which involved me waiting another 3 hours to take a test. It’s absurd that we have 3 McDonalds in town but only 1 dmv that 50,000 + ppl need to attend. Not the employees fault we simply need more dmvs in our. area I can’t handle this

I love the DMV. My favorite day is Monday. I love the dentist. Doctor appointments are a blast. I wish I could hang out here all the time, but the staff doesnt like it when I do. I have been working on a new Bill for CA, that would change the required yearly car registration to be 3 times a year. This way, we can all hang out at the DMV and pay money we dont have and enjoy the best time of our lives... Catch you next time at the DMV! Party Rock USA

I live in Lancaster but work in Paso so I decided to go to the DMV in Paso since an appt was available sooner. I still had to wait in a succession of lines to register the car I bought and the woman who sits at the front is incredibly rude and condescending to everyone she “helps”.The car needed a smog etc just bought it so I didnt realize it and she practically shouted you need a smog to register this car. I was just trying to make the car legal to get it back to Lancaster. I ended up not finishing my transaction at the Paso office because she was so rude. I went instead to the new Lancaster DMV. No appointment in Lancaster and it took half the time. My daughter also made an appt to get her driver’s license and the same woman was there and told my daughter a variety of excuses as to why my daughter couldn’t take the test without the proper forms.When I went to clarify what forms she was talking about this woman was again rude and told me something completely different. My daughter originally went by herself and called me while she was talking to the lady so I could hear everything the woman said to her and I knew immediately who was at the front desk. If she doesn’t like her job she should find another one.

Our granddaughter took the driving test and the woman (I dont know her name or I would name her) had her in tears right away. Even one of her friends who had just taken the test was in tears even tho she had passed! My granddaughter tried twice and this woman told her she was terrible and needed to take more lessons. So....we took her to King City and she passed with flying colors and has been driving since with no traffic violations or trouble.
