Overall this was a beautiful and peaceful stay. The ocean view was perfect, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The TVs were huge, and we were able to watch Netflix which was great. We had a perfect sunset view, and we could walk to all the restaurants and shops and beach easily. The breakfast was really good as well. We will most likely stay here again at some point, hopefully in the same room as we really did enjoy it.My only issue was with the bathroom. While beautiful, all the faucets/shower heads had bad calcium build up to the point the shower head didnt even run properly. Some of the holes had no water coming out, while others sprayed haphazardly around, and there was water dripping around where it shouldnt. The shower was usable until the next morning. We lost hot water the morning we were checking out which was a big bummer as we couldnt shower. This is why I only put 4 stars, as the bathroom is a big part of any hotel room. I did let the kind woman at the front desk know when we checked out and she was apologetic, so hopefully it gets fixed and properly cleaned before we return.

This has been the best vacation spot Ive ever experienced.The room was absolutely spotless when we arrived. This has got to be the best crew in Southern California in terms of cleanliness and hospitality. Absolutely unmatched. Incredibly classy decorations without going overboard. Very stylish.Its right by the water and the view cant be beat, especially if you book a waterfront room with a balcony. My goodness the view...You might think the noise with a waterfront room would be a lot, as its right on Coast Blvd, but youd be mistaken. The dudebro types that cover for their inadequacy with their loud bass in their cars are mostly drowned out with white noise from the beautiful fountain at the front of the property.I love the Pantai Inn and cant wait to stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful and cozy.The views are amazing during sunset.Close to everything, bars, restaurants, beach.The breakfast is great, so much to choose from👍and the staff was very nice.If I ever come back this is where I will book agian. 💜

This is a hidden gem right on the ocean in La Jolla. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean and it was so nice to sit out there and listen to the ocean. Pantai has a breakfast buffet and it was wonderful to eat breakfast on their outdoor patio. We will definitely visit again, highly recommended.

For years we have stayed at La Valencia hotel down the street but decided to try something different. In addition we owned a eco resort and restaurant in Panama for years and understand the challenges of the business. With that said I will list pros and cons rather than writing a negative review.Pros:Location is perfect. The outstanding staff that cooked and served the Thanksgiving meal. Dory prepared a meal that was unique and superb and the staff was extremely hospitable.Appreciated the complimentary water in the lobby. The man who said he was the owner of the hotel was very hospitable.Cons:Check in was awkward and felt like we were bothering the couple at the desk. The young lady who showed us to our room did just that then turned around and walked away. We usually do a family trip in March so we pulled the guest bed down to see if it would sleep 2 but the feet were broken. We opened the blinds the next morning by the desk and they came falling off the wall. They had been situated just so to not look broken. The air intake grate was very dirty as were the lamps and the glass on the nightstands. The lamp shade broken in the bedroom and debris under the coffee table.The fees you pay are for parking and a resort fee. They are a Inn with no amenities so I suppose the resort fee is to cover the complimentary water, coffee and breakfast. Our first night was not pleasant as a family carried on outside our front windows and upstairs until 1:00 a.m. The lobby is right next door and the attendant should have come forward to insure all other guests at the inn had a pleasant evening.Overview: This could definitely turn around to be a great place with some time spent on training and coaching. Longtime employees should be rejuvenated by the hospitality group who run this Inn after the purchase from the family.We will go elsewhere for our family gathering and return to La Valencia next Thanksgiving.Thank you

Cant say enough great things about this small boutique hotel. Starting from the lobby, which was beautiful and stocked with free coffee, waters and sodas (wines and beers for purchase) the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Then to our room, which was the BEST room at the inn! Room 208 has a spectacular view of the ocean! Loved the layout too-porch for watching sunsets or listen to the waves, living room with windows that opened to let the cool Pacific air in and a fireplace to knock the chill or for ambience, a small table for eating takeout (or for the meal you cook in the fully furnished full kitchen), a small desk and a pull down full size Murphy bed for the traveling families. Then a decent size bedroom with queen bed, TV and wardrobe (equipped with two bathrobes for your use), the full kitchen as Ive mentioned and a quaint Bali-nese themed bathroom with a rain shower! Beautifully done and very comfortable! The grounds of the Inn are just gorgeous, with the lawn area a nice touch for enjoying your breakfast outdoors or a nice glass of wine while you watch the sunset and the complimentary breakfast every morning made a great start to the day.

My experience there is extremely pleasant. I reserved the biggest room, and the view was amazing. Staff is super friendly and polite. A very short walking distance from nice restaurants. It is a small hotel, and it feels like it is the right size. Breakfast is pretty decent. I highly recommend this hotel if it is in your budget

Love this place! Its overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Scripps park. Great breakfast, lovely clean rooms and friendly service. Sweet little details like handwritten notes when you arrive and a sweet little welcome basket. Ive love every stay Ive had in various rooms.

My husband, my mother-in-law and I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting our daughter. We had a wonderful stay!! The location is unbeatable --just across the street from the grass and ocean-- so beautiful! The front desk people as well as the manager, Edwin, were extremely kind and helpful. Our room was lovely and we so enjoyed hanging out on our balcony. We had a very positive experience and will definitely try to book another stay here in the future!

This is the worst hotel service and the worst front desk reception I have ever encountered. My friend booked a hotel here for me using his name. I checked in at 10 oclock and the front desk told me if my ID was fake., and then they kept needing to confirm my friend’s booking confirmation with me. I had the name and phone number of the booking and a screenshot of the payment, but there was no way to check me in. The friend who made the booking for me was in New York at about 1 am and I couldn’t contact him. He, I told the front desk that I could give him my booking confirmation in the morning at the latest, but he told me that there was no way to guarantee the safety here and refused to check me in. The hotel we booked did not support refunds, so I checked in again. A hotel, this hotel is the worst hotel. The front desk clerk discriminated against us because our English was not good and said that our identities were fake. It cost me 400 US dollars and affected my mood for the day. Do not stay there. Check in here!！

Norma and Edwin were so incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our stay went well. We happened to come during a hurricane and wanted to stay another night to avoid flying. They both helped us stay in the same room, made sure we had extra towels, and provided amazing service. Honestly, all of the staff were so friendly. The breakfast each morning was delicious!

We loved the location of this hotel. We booked an Ocean View Suite. It was clean and quiet. We sat outside on balcony and watched the people and the ocean. We had breakfast in their courtyard and later enjoyed it too. It was awesome!

Great location. The hotel itself is fine, nothing special. 1 star because they charged me almost $400 for some linens that got makeup on them. My girlfriend is darker skinned and I very much doubt we wouldve received these charges if she had lighter colored makeup. Furthermore, the linens were not nearly nice enough to warrant that large of a bill. Management refused to work with me, and insisted they had to do the right thing. Steer clear if you dont want to be subject to discriminatory charges.

If you ever want to stay right next to the ocean in San Diego (La Jolla) this hotel is an exceptional venue with beautiful common areas and recently updated rooms. Pretty impressive ambiance. Way better than I expected. I typically don’t get impressed especially with hotels. They are usually misleading. This place is the opposite. I am ULTRA picky when it comes to everything especially when I am forking out money on vacation left and right. I usually feel gouged for substandard quality and service. This place shows pride in everything they do and offer. The grounds are immaculate, our room was clean and stocked with all the necessities including a Keurig coffee machine (that made my girlfriend thrilled). The staff is very hospitable. The location is amazing. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They kept water and other complimentary items stocked in the lobby. Suggested cafes within walking distance. Provided towels upon request.The room we were in had an awesome view of the ocean. Although we had trouble with the casting tv due to internet issues but we were always out so it wasn’t a big deal.My husband wasn’t too thrilled about the breakfast but I thought it was great!One thing I would suggest is more hanging places for towels in the bathroom.Overall, our stay was excellent and we will stay again in the future.

This little hotel suited our needs for a short stay in La Jolla, however I don’t think I would stay again for a few reasons. The room itself was fine, but the “queen” bed was most certainly a full sized bed, the bathroom was very small (and the only mirror in the room was located above the sink in the bathroom - so only one person could get ready at a time and only if someone else wasn’t using the toilet), and the walls were very thin (we could hear our neighbors’ conversations and the pipes from their shower were so loud we were woken up by them every morning). All that being said, the room was clean, the hotel was in a great location and the service was friendly.

Where to begin? To start with, I was panicked by reading a few recent unfavorable reviews. As I had booked thru Expedia, I was outside the refund window. I was stuck and I paid a good chunk of change so my only choice was to grin and bear it and come for my stay. Boy Im glad I did! We arrived 4 hours before check in and unfortunately, they were not able to get the room cleaned any sooner so they held our luggage while we wandered around. When we got in our room, it was spotless. I owned a cleaning company in my younger days. Im a good judge of cleanliness. The furnishings seemed a bit dated, but were in good condition, in no state of disrepair and clean. The bed that I read was no way a queen size and had a depression in the middle must have been somewhere else. My bed was absolutely a queen and it was Amazing! The breakfast that was served every morning was plentiful with a great variety of breads, eggs, fruits, meats, waffles, juices, yogurts, etc. The lady serving every morning was an absolute doll! The TVs worked wonderful although I would have liked to see smart tvs where I could log in to my personal account and watch movies. There was netflix and youtube, but I dont do so good with finding good movies on those. Truth of the matter is, we arent here to watch tv, but it is nice to be able to chill in the evening with a good movie after a fun filled day. Norma and the other staff are friendly and helpful. There are refreshments in the lobby and fresh cookies every afternoon! The grounds are neat and manicured with a nice seating area. There are 3 separate buildings and from what I can tell, we were in the oldest one in room 108. Our view was FABULOUS! I think 208 might have been better and I saw several others that appeared to have great views and balconies. People, sea lion, pelican, seagull, and car watching are phenominal from this location! It is a short walk to tons of dining, shopping, the Cave, the museum, etc. An easy pick up location for ride shares. Parking did seem a bit tight, but it appears all guests have spaces and they do a good job patrolling for non guests. Sadly, due to an emergency at home, we have to leave a day early. Hopefully, management will be able to work with Expedia for a partial refund, but I do understand they are by no means obligated to do so. Hoping your stay is as great as ours has been at the Pantai!

The rooms are very unsafe for families. My 3 year old daughter opened the drawers on the dresser and it came down on her with a large piece of glass they had on top. The dressers should be secured to the wall, especially with loose glass on top. The management barely cared. Also, some of the rooms are in the building across the street. There is no elevator and they offer no assistance with bags, even up 2 flights of stairs. For the price I really expected better. At least the location is wonderful.

The view was spectacular and being that close to the La Jolla cove was amazing! The service was also incredible. It was the first trip with our baby and they had offered a bassinet for the baby. I also had forgotten my wedding ring & necklace in the bedside table and didnt realize until I was almost home. I had contacted the front desk and was able to get connected with the manager Edwin and get my ring and necklace shipped to my house within a week! I will definitely being stay here again in the future.

I really wanted to give this location 5 stars because the service we received is unmatched, but unfortunately, Im not able to.Pros:1. Great location2. Beautiful, spacious rooms3. Amazing breakfast4. Fantastic customer service5. The bedrooms are dark and the beds are extremely comfortable6. Absolutely beautiful patio to eat meals looking at the ocean and the sunset!Cons:1. Lots of maintenance issues with our room (101)- I created a list (11 items) and provided it to the management (no response)- Most of these issues are easily fixed, but it looks like no one has been working on the regular up-keep of the rooms2. The walls between units is VERY thin!- We could hear everyone above us- We could hear the washing machine running behind us- You can hear the water feature gurgling through the walls in the living room3. The windows do not block any sound- Being in room 101, the bedrooms are right next to the common area and you can hear everything!4. Everything gets wet in the bathroom when you use the shower- Im not kidding, the entire floor gets soaked because the shower curtain does not contain any water or even touch the floorFor the price we paid, Im just super bummed the room wasnt maintained. The photos Im attaching include the maintenance issues that were submitted to the office along with a walk-through of the unit. If these issues are and continue to be addressed, I can see us returning.

We stayed 3 nights, and had a wonderful experience. The room was directly across from the ocean and beach walkway. Absolutely gorgeous. We had a beautiful suite, it was surprisingly quiet after 10pm or so. We were able to use beach chairs, and the breakfast was very enjoyable. Not to mention the 24 hour complimentary coffee, soft drinks and bottled water. We tried to make another reservation for our next year anniversary, but it was too soon to do so. We will definitely come back again, we really enjoyed the walkability of the cove area, so many nice restaurants, coffee shops and places to see. Our experience was very memorable for our 18th anniversary. Relaxing, romantic getaway.

Dirty room, floor never mopped, ant infestation, beds sunken in middle, used bathrobe & toothbrush in drawer. Room you get doesnt match pictures on the website. Beds were suppose to be queens actually just doubles. Breakfast uneven, no breakfast Tuesday & Wed is unusual. Front desk employees friendly & polite. Great location especially for wildlife.

A lovely hotel and the grounds are very zen-like. The room was fantastic. However, we did notice some maintenance issues. TV remote was broken. Toilet paper holder was a kluge. We both got flea bites. TV was hard to operate, or at least it wasnt obvious, like every other hotel weve stayed in.

Pantai Inn is in a terrific location with ocean views, easy beach access and a short walk to Prospect Avenue shops restaurants. Rooms are very charming and the staff are delightful. Free bottled water and soft drinks are available in the lobby along with breakfast in the courtyard.

Location is excellent - minutes from the cove, beaches, and restaurants. A few of the rooms have a nice balcony and great views. However avoid the studio rooms! Our room was tiny, dated, and had NO privacy. We couldnt open the blinds because window was directly onto sidewalk and street. Disappointed that they wouldnt offer us another room even though there were clearly empty rooms Sun/Mon nights. One amenity we appreciated was the inner courtyard since there was nowhere in our room to sit with a glass of wine.

Best place to stay in La Jolla!Rooms were super huge at a whopping 600 sq ft. Very cozy because of the fireplace. Kitchenette was a huge bonus. Love that you can chromecast in the tvs!Colimentary water, sodas, and homemade cookies were provided, which was awesome 👌Steps away from LA Jolla beaches, including the LA Jolla Cove!

I preface this review by stating I typically only write positive reviews. I’m choosing to write this honest appraisal based on our personal experience simply to CAUTION YOU.We choose to stay at the Pantai for our 15th Anniversary. When my husband booked our reservation he indicated this was a special occasion—our 15th Anniversary. With excitement, upon check in I mentioned this to Eric the gentleman who checked us in.*There was no acknowledgement of our Anniversary. A small point and one that is worth noting.*As far as the location, it is wonderful. Sadly, that is one of the few positives you’ll find in this review. Also, it was nice to have complimentary water & coffee.The rest of the review is sadly very negative. The room we stayed in —Room 222, although it faced the ocean which was great, was VERY DATED, dirty, small, and the bathroom is the size of a dollhouse. I’m a slender woman and I found it tight and beyond small.The same long, pieces of dark hair I found on the wall by the closet upon check in stayed on the wall the entire visit despite having requested cleaning service daily. (By the way, my husband and I are both blonde.) We did receive fresh towels daily l; and I chose to leave the hair there just to see after 4 NIGHTS if they would discover & remove it. No such luck!The floors were dirty. The $400 price tag per night was outrageous for the quality, or lack there of, we received.The photos online bared NO RESEMBLANCE to the room we stayed in—Room 222. Again, for $400 a night I EXPECT FAR MORE. At least CLEAN.My intent is not to “slam” the hotel, rather to CAUTION YOU!Perhaps the “new owners” need to reevaluate their cost-cutting measures IF they are looking for a loyal, repeat clientele. Needless to say, we won’t be back.I shared my concerns very politely with Edmund the General Manager. He refunded our $100 parking fee for the 4 days.I hope you found this is helpful. This is a beautiful hotel. We got a great deal on the room by booking through their website over the holidays. It was well worth the money! We opted for an ocean view suite and the room was extremely large and beautifully decorated. The hotel provides complimentary water, soda, and coffee and their internet was high speed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen in the suite was stocked with essentials you may need, like a bottle opener. There was also a beautiful courtyard available to all guests that had a great view. The staff at the desk were also very kind and accommodating. There were only a couple things that decrease my review from 5 stars to 4. First, as other reviewers state, the walls are quite thin and we could hear our neighbors a little too well. The perk to this however, was that I could hear the ocean waves all night long, so that made up for it. On our last day, housekeeping came to our room an hour and a half before checkout to ask when we were leaving. This was a little off-putting as it felt like we were no longer welcome. I understand they may have been busy and needing to flip the room quickly, but it seemed a little strange to interrupt a guests stay asking when they would leave. Lastly, apparently they provide two bottles of wine in the room for purchase. When we arrived, there was only 1 and we had no need to drink it as we had brought our own drinks. We thought nothing of it, it just sat on the table where it was when we checked in (they did mark it with a price tag too so we knew we would be charged if we drank it). We found out after we left that we were charged for a bottle of wine that we never drank. Thankfully when I called, the nice man on the phone removed the charge, but just know that if staying in a suite, there are supposed to be two bottles available for purchase, so just double check, in case there’s one missing. Overall though, it was an excellent stay in an excellent location with accommodating staff.

It is not the same. Before covid my family and I would stay here ever summer. The service was amazing, and the hotel room was always in the best shape. Not to mention the services that use to be included such as the free breakfast, chocolate for your room, and a beautiful welcome handwritten note. This was not the case for our most recent visit. It is understandable that a lot of the services would not be available due to the impact covid had on hotels. However, we still had high expectations for the room. Unfortunately it didn’t meet them, the room left all our white socks black at the bottom, the bathroom had chunks of soap on the sink, the bathroom door knob fell off admittedly as we opened the bathroom (luckily we were able to reattach it), and stains in the covers.

We stayed for two nights and loved the accommodations! We were in room 207 and it was like a one bedroom apartment with a great view of the ocean a fireplace and a kitchen! It was very clean and had everything we needed. It was within walking distance to all of the great restaurants and galleries in the area!

I believe the review from a week ago about room 101 is from a person who unfortunately heard my family upstairs (sorry!). Believe me, we tried to keep everyone tiptoeing around. Every time I heard the floor creak under my foot I felt bad. Yes. The walls and floors are thin!Honestly this is my biggest complaint here...but it is an old building I suppose. So you just need to recognize that. Without a more extensive remodel here, Im unsure how to resolve that.When we got in, the kitchen area had a leak. However, they immediately fixed that though.The place was clean and comfortable enough. The only comfort issue was an old, saggy taco mattress. It wasnt too bad though.I would stay again because its a great location. The parking looked troubling at first, but we managed ok. They have two small lots (at least). So that was actually fine. Its on a very small and crowded street for parking though, so its a potential risk if youre coming with a few vehicles.The views were great! The size of the room was very good. Having a kitchen was nice too. This is a great space. Just a few unfortunate drawbacks some of which they have little contr over. If you arent going to be bothered by the thin walls, youre ok. It does get real quiet at night.

We had a great stay at Pantai Inn! The customer service was amazing! We arrived well before our check in and they were able to turn around our room very quickly! The front desk provided a map of the area and recommended places to eat, all recommendations were great! You cant beat the location, steps away from the shore and downtown La Jolla. They provide complimentary water, sparkling water, and soda which came in very handy! Parking on-site which was a plus!Only 4 stars due to the very thin walls. You can hear your neighbors convos, flush the toilet, shower, etc. This didnt bother us too much as we were only the in the room at night when the noise died down. But if you are sensitive to loud noises, this could be an issue.Overall, very impressed with Pantai Inn! They made our vacation so easy! We will definitely be back!

Taylor was extremely patient with me while we booked the perfect room for us, and it was the perfect room. I assume all of the rooms are amazing, but the location of our room was the best. Waves basically crashing at our doorstep. I inquired with the girls about setting up a little special surprise for my wife and they went above and beyond. Everything was well worth the price. I booked directly with Pantai Inn, I specifically booked over the phone to inform them about our anniversary and that I wanted a nice room. Derby helped me with my reservation and sent me pictures of the room to make sure I liked it before booking. She is extremely nice and helpful, couldnt ask for a better customer service!Upon my early arrival to La Jolla, I decided to stop by and check in. Even though I was early, they had the room ready and said that I can get it! Location, right across the beach, few steps and I was at the Cove. Restaurants within walking distance. Very clean and well maintained property. My room was just amazing! Private entry to the cottage. I almost forgot, I love the 2-in-1 double shower + steam room :) From management to staff, everyone was super nice. I travel for work regularly and I have status with some hotel chains. However, the experience with Pantai Inn was just on another level. The 1st night I returned to my room after going out for dinner, they had roses all over the room, chocolates and strawberry covered chocolates, candles around the bed and Jacuzzi. Lovely little unique hotel with amazing ocean views. The staff was super nice & provided very personalized service (hand-written welcome card when I arrived with fresh blooms in the room, for example). So many little touches I cant list them all here. I loved the Bali-inspired decor, it made for a very tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. I stayed in an ocean view studio and really enjoyed the balcony while watching the sunset. The complimentary breakfast far surpassed any free breakfast Ive had at a hotel. My only regret is not staying here my entire trip. I will definitely return if I have the opportunity.

I have only wonderful things to say about the Pantai Inn! It’s basically a dreamy, beautiful oasis right along the La Jolla coast! My husband and I hosted our intimate wedding at the Pantai last February. Wow! we were amazed by the gorgeous/clean grounds and inn rooms as well as the helpful customer service. Also, the breakfast is delicious! On the day of our wedding, we had very rainy weather and needed an inside option asap. We were initially very happy with our stay. The hotel was in good condition in a good location. We paid to park on their property. When we went out the next morning our car had been hit in the parking lot and damaged our tire. As a result we had to spend hours of our vacation getting new tires. When we called the office and spoke with a a manger they informed us there were no cameras on that part of the property. then when I asked if they could refund my parking fee since I was now out $700 in repairs and several hours of my vacation, they told me there was nothing they could do for me. Guess a $30 refund isn’t worth our future business .

Fantastic place. The location cant be beat - youre basically on the ocean right at the Cove, but the staff was what did it for me. Every single one of them went out of their way to make our stay better, very impressed. The room was very good - two bedrooms and a big sitting room/kitchenette. Almost everything was included with the room fees - no overcharging for in-room water, soda or snacks, which was a nice surprise. The only possible negative was that the bathroom was very small (odd with such a big suite), but they pointed that out to us on a quick room tour before we booked. Overall, highly recommended.

I wanted to take the time to write a review for one the best keeps secrets of La Jolla. I had the opportunity to stay here around the holidays. The location is absolutely perfect; near the world-famous cove as well as the shops and restaurants on Prospect. My room was spacious, clean and had epic views of the pacific. Each morning they served a fantastic complimentary breakfast buffet that was delicious. You could eat in the dining room on a terrace overlooking the blue pacific ocean. What set this place apart from other places was the service. Ryan, the general manager, is not only professional and accommodating, but he runs a team of hospitality professionals that go out of there way to make sure guests feel welcomed and comfortable. Angelica, in particular, was very helpful in making sure I got everything I needed. I highly recommend this place and cannot say enough good things about it and the staff.

Beware!!! Not the Pantai it used to be!Last room left and I can see why! At the last minute my husband and I decided to change things up and stay at the Pantai. We had stayed there several years ago and it was absolutely wonderful on every level! This time, there was only one room left and boasted a newly remodeled premium room with an ocean front view. Where to start… first, there was no elevator to get to the 3rd floor and while we managed just fine, it was not clear anywhere in booking the room that it was only accessible via stairs. When I entered the room it smelled strongly of fresh paint which I had hoped by opening the door and letting the ocean breeze in might help. I opened the door to the balcony trying to prop it open with the door stop that barely worked. Eventually I was able to get it propped open and let some fresh air in. It was winter and cold so I tried to turn the heat on. Low and behold the heater to the room did not work. Upon asking the very nice person who checked us in about it, she indicated that it had not been working for awhile and the hotel owner was informed and further had been told by the staff that it needed to be fixed prior to renting the room out. That apparently did not register as an important enough detail for the opportunistic owner who simply wanted the profit from a “rented room” with no regard for customers comfort. The front desk person was wonderful and offered a floor heater, e tra blankets and even a bottle of wine of our choice to help make the situation more tolerable. Needing to close the door, opting for some warmth over paint fumes, we tried to enjoy our take out dinner only to start getting headaches due to the paint fumes. So….we bundled up and took our wine out on the patio to sit for some fresh air when the door closed locking us out of the room. With no cell phone to call the front desk, I had to walk down 3 flights of very steep metal stairs, to the front desk, wait for help, get a new room key, that by the way did not work, and had to go back for another one, go back to the room, again, and let my husband in from the patio! we tried not to bag the only night out and sat on the couch for a movie and some dessert we had put in the fridge to stay cold……or so we thought! It was nice and warm as the fridge, we discovered, was not plugged in! That was it for us. We left. This room was clearly not ready and not in condition to rent out and I must say that having stayed here under the previous ownership was such a pampered and incredible experience that it is sad to see how the new ownership does not value the reputation that The Pantai had earned as a quality establishment that caters to its customers but rather just seems to want to focus on making quick profits.

The location is excellent, one of the closest hotels to the beach and ocean. Decor is attractive. You should book well in advance to reserve an Ocean View Room with a balcony. Then check your reservation prior to arrival to confirm your room. Pantai is conveniently near charming breakfast and brunch establishments plus Pantai gives helpful recommendations for restaurants in La Jolla. Edwin the manager made sure that although a flight was canceled by the airline delaying my arrival, that he arranged a room to be ready for an early AM check in. Edwin was responsive and helpful before and after I was a guest there. The hotel stocks the bathrooms with excellent LATHER toiletries that are high quality products. Youre paying for location. I feel ripped off! Nothing like the pictures online. The rooms are VERY small, theres room for your luggage and a place to stand while you change, thats about it. The bathroom is a small box made for one person with zero counter space (barely enough room for my toothbrush) and barely enough standing room to dry off. The lights along the building shine into the room all night with only blinds to block them. I used two towels provided by the front desk but that didnt help much. The AC unit light does not have an off a lights off feature. The walls are paper thin and conversations of passerbys and cars can be heard as though theyre in your room. Expect to hear footstep as people pass your room. Should you neighbor use the shower, you should just leave the room. We tried turning up the tv but it was simply too loud. And speaking of thin, the toilet paper is the worst! Parking is a terrible with the few tightly packed spaces they have available.The service is very good thus far and the location to town is great.

Mike, Jay, and the whole crew made this the best customer experience ever. When we arrived they had a personalized welcome sign in our room celebrating our wedding and also some cheesecakes hand made on site that were delicious! A lovely, friendly Balinese outpost in La Jolla. From the time we arrived until we checked out, we were quite impressed with the service and friendly attitude of the staff. We did not realize it was a Balinese theme hotel until we saw the many items from Bali that reminded us of our visit. We were able to get a 2-bedroom suite, with kitchen, living room and sun room with great view of La Jolla cove. The staff gave us a stack of menus from local restaurants, then kindly ordered, picked up and delivered our dinner to us. The included breakfast was superb. We had the choice of inside or outside seating. The location and free parking makes it ideal for walking along the cliff, watching seals and sea lions, surfers and swimmers; or for walking along Prospect St window shopping. I just wish we could have spent several days enjoying the locale.

Where to start... First off, the location is amazing. You are literally a stones throw to the ocean from here. It was so wonderful to have the sound of the ocean pouring into the living room of our Suite at night. At night, the fireplace added a peaceful glow and took the chill out of the brisk ocean air.Our Suite, #208, sat facing the ocean on Coast Blvd. with a deck and chairs to sit and watch the passer-bys & the Sunset. The suite itself felt more like an extravagantly appointed apartment, from its LED lined bathroom mirror and counter to its touch screen thermostat & 5 burner gas range.The furniture was comfortable and the bed was heavenly. There were 2 giants flat screens. One in the bedroom and one in the great room.The continental breakfast is bountiful and had everything from local gourmet pastries to fresh fruit. I noticed people who have views or private outside areas would take their food back to their rooms to eat and enjoy the view.Having parking included is a huge bonus. The parking in La Jolla is always atrocious and knowing you will always have a space enables you to relax even further.The Staff was pleasant and attentive. The manager was friendly, articulate and offered incite to the area.In short, I wanted to move in. With all the aforementioned amenities, it would be hard to find a better place to stay.The one drawback is that there is no pool. But not a deal breaker for this guy.P.S. My wife loved it too. The hotel is literally walking distance from the water, early on the morning you can see a ton of seals lounging on the rocks. Near by to everything. The rooms are beautiful. So spacious. Our little family really appreciated the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful facilities, location, and service at the Pantai Inn! Everything in our room was beautiful and comfortable. Loved the space, the sun room with the fountain outside the windows, the fireplace, the desk, the seating area outside our front door, and the fully equipped kitchen. Bedding was clean and comfortable, mattresses and pillows were just right, and we appreciated the details througout the entire suite. Except for the construction noise currently taking place in the park across the street, and landscaping crews doing their job, room was very quiet and peaceful, and perfect for ocean views and people watching. Parking was right outside the kitchen door, making unloading/loading of our things very convenient. Breakfast is your typical warm continental breakfast, but included fresh fruits and wonderful earthy teas... If you eat in their patio, remember to not leave your food unattended, because the seagulls will steal it away! In the lobby you will find endless supply of fresh drinking water and coffee, bottled water, and sodas, and cookies all included in your room fee. They also had in the lobby nice umbrellas to help you shelter from the rain. Location was not only covenient for walking to the beaches, restaurants, retail and CVS Pharmacy, but it was also safe to walk at night. Staff was so attentive and helpful, and we really appreciated Doris going beyond the call of duty when we missed our breakfast after taking a long walk in the beach in the early morning. Also, Edwin was so kind for taking the time to tell us about the history of the hotel, and helping us during our stay. I cant stop thinking about this place ever since we went. It was such a magical place. I do anything if I could just live there forever. The staff were so amazing, and the week we were there was both mine and my husbands birthdays and they personally brought us these amazing desserts and wished us happy birthday. The most impressive thing about that was that any time an employee walked by they knew it was our birthday. We felt so special and cared about. The beach and the seals were so beautiful and enchanting. If I could be anywhere for the rest of my life it would be here. Thank you so much pantai for literally changing my life. Oh, and thank you so much for calling the cable company and making sure Cartoon Network work for me. What can I say? I love my cartoons LOL! The best place to stay in La Jolla is the Pantai. The location is perfect for sunsets, and wave watching. The beach is so close, evening strolls are just outside your door. The staff is 5 star all the way. The parking is assigned so no worries about the car that you will not need to explore the shops, galleries, and restaurants of this classic upscale California beach community. The complimentary breakfast has fresh fruit, juices, breads, and ceral that you can enjoy indoors or on the adjacent outdoor patio.Our room was a two bedroom with a kitchette that was very clean and had plenty of space. TVs in every room, plus the sitting area. We also had a private outdoor sitting area to enjoy the SoCal weather and sunsets. Most of the rooms at the Pantai have this feature. In room complimentary coffee for early risers and a view of the ocean made this a great experience that we would return to again.

Pantai inn looks can be deceiving. Arrived to find construction on the sea wall in front of the hotel and off to the side – not a place to relax for probably another year. The manager was beyond rude, condescending, and unapologetically in violation of several ADA regulations. Room was dirty and whole hotel needed updating. Breakfast was similar to a cheap corporate motel. The plug-in air freshener made the room smell like pinesol and took forever to air out. It could have been a nice place but clearly needs new management and attention to upkeep.
