Pacific Design Center Showrooms8687 Melrose AvenueLos Angeles, CaliforniaPacific Design Center (PDC) has three buildings built around and next to each other, in the same Campus with the bright colors of Ocean Blue (The Big Blue Whale) building, Green and Red buildings. The showrooms are all in the Blue building. The Red and Green buildings are offices.Pacific Design Center Showrooms is a special place for everyone to visit or tour, mostly Interior Designers, Interior Designer students from different Colleges or Universities who come for resources and samples for their school projects. I know this because I was one of the students who collected lots of samples from various Showrooms and also worked part-time with different designers during West Week Show. West - Week used to be a Week where by Designers from all over the 🌍🌎 World would come to Los Angeles and show off their absolutely magnificent designs, most of the designs were always unique and sometimes colorful.When I graduated from the Environmental Interior Design Program School at UCLA, I was happy to do my internship at the Pacific Design Center Showrooms, for a while.The Pacific Design Center Showrooms used to be very busy with people coming in and out all day, all the time. But this time around there was hardly anybody in the Showrooms I visited, except the associates, or customer service people. Some Showrooms were closed on the first floor. But theres still few Showrooms on other floors upstairs, again, not so busy as before. I asked why were so many of the Showrooms closed and why was business so slow? Most of those I asked blamed it on COVID-19.

OMG this place is amazing! The outside has always been quite enchanting and Ive always wandered what was inside? Well, today we satisfied our curiosity and after our MOCA trip, went inside! Im so glad I did cuz it was just as beautiful inside as it was outside! It houses some of the most cutting edge home decor, coupled with really cool art galleries! Some were really nice and allowed us to walk thru the design studios while others were Snooty as Hell! Prices were far outta the average persons range but the way they had them laid out made it very good for inspiration.

I mostly walked and sat outside and had breakfast while my husband worked. Delicious and hearty breakfast sandwich. Cold pressed juices and coffees thought I went with simple orange juice. Friendly staff who delivered a hot sandwich to my table ❤️

Good place to park for the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval, just about a block from the main stage on Santa Monica Boulevard. Tons of covered parking and seemed pretty safe with lots of security and police around. But they charged $25.

We had a event from the Television Academy here. Having parking as part of this building was helpful as trying to find parking on the street can be challenging at this location.The interior has a modern spacious feel to it. Impressive architecture and interesting displays on the walls.

The most comfortable screening room with in LA! Reclining chairs, surround sound plus a wonderful lobby area for receptions with a built-in sea blue lit bar. I saw a screening of the Joker and The King this previous week. Cant wait for the next!

Pacific design center, also known as the big blue whale, is a five-star designer showcase meant for professional interior decorators, although regular folks can wander it too. The main negatives are that it is not open on weekends nor late on weekdays.It’s also terrific venue to hold a charity event.Fantastic shopping and restaurants are nearby.

Beautiful buildings... Iconic....known as The Blue Whale for its outrageous size and hue. Next (1988) came Center Green, a huge, faceted, bright green building. In 2011, the two buildings were joined by Center Red, a suitably gargantuan, pointedly curving, bright red building.All of the buildings epitomize Pellis slick glass skin design, in a Late Modern idiom that obviously embraces exaggerated planes, unusual shapes, and cheerful colors. Pelli conceived of the buildings as oversized fragments fallen to earth, and indeed that is what they look like. They are united by central courtyards and walkways, but their interiors are much larger than any surrounding landscaped areas. Love it or hate it, the Pacific Design Center has become an icon of glass skin design and construction and a landmark of undeniable impact.Worth a visit!

This review is strictly based on the parking company, since they dont have a separate listing.The parking used to be a daily max of $16.50 in 2021 and they have since raised it to $25. So for even 4 hours, you are going to drop $25, and there is no grace limit or turnaround when you enter. If they raise the gate for you, youre paying to leave.I suggest you park at the WeHo Library parking garage. Its across the street and $12/day (1st hour free).

While the outside of the buildings looks nice, the insides are another story. The bathroom on our floor was out of toilet paper for at least a day and a half and now, the toilets wont flush. There are no signs whatsoever to get to the sky lobby so poor visitors always get lost.The two positive things about this place are the friendly, helpful security guards in the lobby, the valet folks and the abundance of parking spaces.

PDC has a great theater.I just wish they didnt post INACCURATE Parking signs saying ALL Parking is 15$ with no exceptions!!Thats BS! I parked on the street and worried my way through an event only to find parking was validated, ( to my surprise) !!PDC Please take the few minutes to make a new sign for the special events that validate parking.Thank you!

All I can say is, wow! The events that were produced here were absolutely phenomenal and credible and over the top, Los Angeles fashion week was one of the best events that was hosted here. Im so honored and pleasure to be a part of these events and I was so great seeing all the designs and models and designers that were bringing the best of the best of fashion to the public. Really nice building but it gets confusing sometimes because is so big.Ive there to cover events there, and sometimes whoever is organizing the event, they dont specify In what part of the building the red carpet/party/event is located and you can get easily lost in yhere, the Last time I was there, they were remodeling some of the floors so you have to find your way around the parking, also if you park there, you gotta remember where you left your car or youll Take forever to find it.The building has nice offices and you can find Art displayed on the halls.

The Blue Whale is beginning to show its age. As the charm fades from quirky edifice a disappointing reality settles in; the building is nigh unnavigable. Signage is non existent; not in the parking, nor in the lobbies, nor on or in the buildings themselves. A tiresome affectation and unnecessary inconvenience.

Certainly an interesting building, but seems incredibly underused. Perhaps Cohen Brothers Realty, which owns it, should consider converting large portions of it into condos and rental units. WeHo needs more housing so that more of us (especially younger people) can afford to buy or rent here. More than enough space in this part of the city is already devoted to luxury designers.

I consulted for a company that rented space at the WeWork in the Red Building and it was honestly a fun experience walking into the Pacific Design Center everyday for work. As unique and ostentatious as it is, its no surprise that the inside is maze-like. Good luck not getting lost in the parking structure at least once! Ha!

Disclaimer: I work in this building but do not work FOR the building - get it?The building itself is magnificent and easily can be taken for granted when clocking in and out of this place every day for several years on end. I often dont realize how cool the place is or how lucky I am to be able to access this building on a daily basis and be a part of its community.The fountain area on San Vicente is a famous and popular area often used to host exclusive Hollywood industry parties, production location, and various other types of events. Were talking HBO, Oscars, BMW and all kinds of brands/companies who transform the area into an unbelievable venue for their events.Right outside in the courtyard of the building is one of three MOCA museums. This one is FREE every day and always has a rotating artist being featured.The building is fascinating because of the architecture but also very confusing to outsiders because all they see from the are three parts - green, blue and red. These are different buildings that houses different companies. The Green building is pretty much all offices and various retail, advertising, PR, and marketing companies take up much of the space here. The Blue building is where the designers can be found. High-end rugs, furniture, kitchen remodeling, home decor... you name it, they have it. But price tags are extremely high so us employees often can only afford to stare at the pieces rather than buy anything.The Red building is barely finishing up last touches of its many years of construction. We suspect they may be having problems trying to rent the space out but it looks like more offices for various companies similar to the ones who are in the Green building. The parking lot looks finished but still not a lot of traffic going on there. Just some speculation here.....The building is well secured and seems to have a 24-hour security.Its conveniently located right across the street from the amazing West Hollywood library and West Hollywood Park. Great places to hang out at during lunch time!

Used to be the Blue Whale when I was last there in the early 80s. That was the nickname. You had to be in the business to go inside so a decorator I knew got me in. Interesting to watch a millionaire cowboy and his wife open up a suitcase full of hundreds and just start ordering all kinds of stuff. My jaw hit the floor.

Designers Haven! The Center is consists of showrooms for buildings interior and mostly offices. Most show rooms are in the Blue Building. Few are in the Green Building and the rest are offices. Theres a gym on the second floor.This building is accessible to architects, interior designer and engineers who design or renovate high end houses, hotels and offices. For example, one chandelier is $80,000. Sofas are $30,000. Everything is custom made. Youll need a reseller license to buy anything.

Building is horribly maintained. Elevators dont work and neither do 30-40% of the escalators. As someone recuperating from ACL surgery the building is an impossible obstacle course. This is not an isolated incident. Elevators and escalators are always in disrepair. One escalator has been tagged as dangerous and not operating for over a month.
