A little gem in downtown Ojai. A place with a very lovely outdoor seating area, which is visibly maintained with pride. The tables had fresh flowers on them, the area shaded by a large tree, and I imagine the bistro lights give off a whimsical feel in the evening.This place has fresh sourdough loaves daily. Their staff is attentive, professional and kind.The food here was good, given it tasted fresh. I removed one star because, for my taste, the avocado tartine was overpowered by garlic to the point I couldnt taste much of the other ingredients. My husband also found parts of his dish extremely spicy (and we are used to and like spicy foods, but we tend to not enjoy when it overpowers other flavors).If back in Ojai, I will return to Ojai Rotie and try out other dishes or request that they put that garlic/horseradish chutney on the side, so I can control how much to add to my bites of food!I do highly recommend this place.

Over hyped. Came excited, people seemingly raving about it, place looked nice but it s ultimately a restaurant and the food left me quite underwhelmed. Service at the counter not very friendly either. Felt like a white washed place, laking flavor, severely over-priced, for the girls to go take pics to post on social media.The good. Great location, very nice outdoor area, food and location looks instagramable if that s ur thing (which a lot of the crowd seemed all about). The garlic spread, potatoes, and bread are very good. However, for the price not where they should be. The bread is simply too expensive for me. But i took some home and was great for bruschetas. The potatoes, were you to get the side by it s own, are $12 or $17 (any side), that s absolutely insane.The not so good. The chicken was a little dry and other than the skin very bland. Y all need to brine it. The carrots were mid. Lebne strongly dissappointing. Butter had no taste. Prices are just too high. I wanted to try the burger but man, $22 for a burger with no fries. Chill... Skipped desert.Want truly good bread and butter (or excellent food from appetizer to dessert) take a trip to Coquette or Maypop in nola.

Ojai Roti is extremely satisfying but not amazing. The atmosphere is fun and the service is solid but the food delivery is slow. The garlic spread alone is reason enough to go (if you like garlic). The bread is amazing as are the potatoes and the watermelon cooler. The rotisserie chicken was dry but good. The cookies were overdone. All said, this place is worth a stop.

Came here with my sister for a quick day trip to ojai and saw this place had some good reviews. I’m honestly shocked this restaurant doesn’t have at least 4.8 stars, it’s that good. We split the whole chicken which comes with two sides, pita, and a whisper of garlic spread. Only complaint would be: come on guys, give us more garlic dip! The chicken was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. The sides were incredibly fresh and paired so well. Definitely want to come back and try more of this Lebanese menu.

We ordered the lamb skewers and the half chicken plate, the lamb skewers were a bit disappointing, the flavourful was good but they were way too dry.The chicken was okay, the breast a bit dry but thats expected.The slaw was amazing!Their lemonade is also pretty good!

Ive been here numerous times over its years and Ojai Rotie is superb - one of my favorite places in Ojai for dining with and recommending to groups. It feels very European and with an understated casual yet sophisticated picnic feel - rustic charm tables and food served on worn enamel and blocks of wood.dippity dips - fantastic.bread with butter - NEED to get it, they whip the butter perfectly and the bread is so soft it melts in your mouthhalf chicken - we got a meal this time with potatoes and the carrot salad. the potatoes used to be transcendently flavorful but i have to say the past couple times weve gone theyve become a little blander and less exciting. carrot salad was well-flavored and refreshing.lamb skewers - THE BEST! Soft, seasoned so well, the harissa and cream additions make it this explosion of flavor its magicoverall, such a special place for dinner with people you love. Rotie best for getting a few things and sharing them all together, and everything on the menu works perfectly together - you get a chicken and use the dippity dips or the flatbread it comes with to make little sandwiches out of harissa and hummus and chicken - 11/10 experience. Also very sweet staff :)

I am thrilled to see a new type of restaurant in Ojai! This is exactly what Ojai needed.The food is excellent the dining area is fun and vibrant the wine bar has a fantastic selection.We enjoyed some wine and appetizers on the tables just outside the wine box (it’s the wine and beer). We ordered way more appetizers then we needed to because we didn’t realize that the platter came with bread and we knew we had to try the bread!We checked in a couple times to make sure they were not going to run out of chicken and we’re assured that if we ordered by eight it would be plenty. We ordered two full chickens, a salad and four large sides and had way too much food for five people. The sides that come with the chicken are very generous.Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but we want to make sure we were able to try a little bit of everything. I had read the reviews and had my list of dishes I wanted to try plus we overindulged on the bread because it was so delicious.The leftovers were just as delicious if not better than they were the night before.I wish Ojai Rotie the best of luck and look forward to returning soon!!

This is our favorite restaurant in Ojai by far. The food is always fresh and flavorful. We like to split the chicken plate and a few extra sides. Definitely recommend the hummus and cauliflower. They have a great local wine selection as welll.

I got to talk about this place cuz it was delicious although you will pay $18 bucks for a quarter Chicken and two sides an awesome garlic dipping sauce some pickled purple things Im not sure and some amazing bread. Great outdoor area with various seating, lights. You have to stay in a line to order something, and if you want to have both food and alcohol- it would be two lines! The food is good, they have variety of roasted chicken. I’ve got Chicken Sandwich which turned out to be a wrap. Cold green tea was a bit tasteless, would not recommend it.

1 hour later, where is the food? Lorenzo (owner) we waited for 25 minutes to be seated, hostess never came to see us until, we reminded her about us. We guessed and asked people around the way to place an order; finally order our food, waited for 90 minutes in total, food never arrived, what you see in this picture is what we asked to be served due to the delay with our order. After 60 minutes; We asked for other options instead, she said It was not possible, we cancel our order and left the business hungry and disappointed.

I really liked the food here but…dammit…if the manager didn’t try to rip us off over ice cream, this place would have been perfect. My husband ordered a pint of ice cream at the end of the meal which was $14. The manager gave us a small cup. I kept telling him and I eventually told the manager that this was not a pint of ice cream but a scoop or a cup. She insisted that it was a pint and I didn’t want to make a scene so I let it go. I later called the restaurant 30 min later and told them that I think we got ripped off and the woman on the phone told us that we don’t sell pints of ice cream at the moment but scoops for $9….so why would the manager go out of her way to lie to us over ice cream? The woman put the manager on who tried to rip us off on the phone and she said she would give us a refund. So I guess she knew she was wrong. Don’t know. The food was really good but the manager kind of ruined it for us.

Quite an interesting take on rotisserie chicken. But in my view, the highlight is the sides and the bread; the chicken itself is good, but not extraordinary. Would highly recommend the charred eggplant.Apart from the food, very high marks for the ambience, music and service.

Nics in Beverly Hills was amazingly under-rated in terms of food during its long run as soulful, watering hole on the West Side.70 miles to the north in the hip, artistic village of Ojai is the culinary rebirth of Larry Nicolla in the form of Rotisserie chick at Ojai Roti.The menu is small but everything is tasty. The food is ordered at a window and brought to your table. The value on our lunch for four was amazingly good. We had about one full chicken beautifully roasted. Crafty and tasty sides and a local strawberry tart served cold on a hot day outside was just fantastic. My 9-year old at nearly 1/2 of the hummus. We had to take the homemade baguette with us.We miss Larry but it is great to see him doing so well just to the north of us.

Loved this place for a girls trip (my mom and little girl) - we visited on a Sunday evening. Food was totally delicious, fresh, and healthy. We got the picnic Pick 4 which was a whole split grilled chicken cooked perfectly, a cucumber salad, a quinoa and roast carrot salad, THE MOST DELICIOUS BAGUETTE BREAD and hummus, some amazing horseradish dip(yum!!), and a dessert (brownies).We had enough left over for me to have dinner again the following night.During our visit the owner(?) came over to compliment my daughters cute dress and head band. He asked if she could have an ice cream for free once she finished her dinner (of course, yes!). They brought her the most refreshing lemon ice Gelato. She was so excited. It was a very hot day. They also brought us several homemade chocolate chip cookies. They were so kind to us.Its a really lovely, no frills, delicious and unpretentious al fresco dining place. Ill be back!!Note: flies and/meat bees can be a seasonal problem here. No big deal, the restaurant had some sticky traps hung in the oak tree branches. But be aware(cover your food with a napkin if you are a slow eater 😄).

Nice place, loved the ambiance. I ordered the chicken, potatoes and flat bread roti. The chicken was ok, moist and cooked right, not savory, it was bland. The side dishes were really good, the potatoes were so tasty with the flat bread and the cucumber pickles. I paired this with french syrah from Rhone valley, it was just right. Of all the restaurants in Ojai, we chose this one because it had good reviews. I was hoping to do the same since it has a beautiful and unique ambiance. We ordered the rotisserie chicken which was super flavorful and yummy. However, we were grossed out as we ate the food. The reasons I gave the restaurant a low rating due to unfriendly staff and lack of cleanliness. We were excited about our lunch until we saw a rack with full of prepared trays of veggies (potatoes and cauliflowers) placed next to the toilet. The working area appeared to be tight which I can understand why it was placed there. However, the workers should at least cover the trays with something to prevent flies from landing on the food which we witnessed. Frankly, I am not sure if they would pass the food inspection based on what we saw. I want to support local small businesses such as this, but not sure if I would take risks eating here again. After all, we still have the health pandemic. I hope the owner will take this as a genuine feedback rather than criticism and remedy the situation. Best wishes!

We stopped here for a light dinner, got the appetize sampler, with roasted potatoes, tabouleh, and cucumber salad. We also got the deviled eggs, which were the best I have had, they seemed to have been made with horse radish, which gave them a nice spicy bite. We also got lemonade and mint tea, the lemonade was super sour, and the mint was really good. Mixing them was better. All the seating is outdoors, so we were able to have our dogs with us.

AMAZING. First the atmosphere is charming and in an outdoor setting in beautiful Ojai. Their chicken is cooked perfectly and all of the sides compliment. The lamb kebabs are great too. They have a separate bar for wine and beer and you must get their fresh baked bread to go. Just check their hours as they close for a couple hours in between morning, lunch and dinner services.

We were traveling and decided to stop here for some food. Love the outdoor seating, especially in the California sun. Tried the kambucha and was impressed. The service was great and super fast. We ordered the chicken salad tartine (4.5), bread w/ sauce (5), hummus (5), and desert (2). My only gripe is with the desert. We ordered the Gelato, there were 3 flavors but only one (toasted apricot) was available. The flavor was subtle and was more a generally fruity flavor. Also, the texture was way too hard in my opinion. The cookies were good, but they are crunchy so make sure thats your thing. Overall super good, would go again

My boyfriend saw an article about Rotie opening in the spring of 2019, I believe our first visit was in June 2019. We have been there probably 12 times and were not native to CA, when I made the trips out to Camarillo (He from NY and I from IN), we always made it a point to visit. The chicken is delicious, the bread with the garlic butter is divine. We noticed over the years the quality of some items were going down, we still went because the chicken and bread alone are fabulous. The garlic butter started getting too oily, the potatoes werent the same, the cauliflower quality, some of the staffs attitudes started changing (this happened around 2021 +). The last two times we visited in 2022 we noticed the time for our food to arrive was taking so long, this wasnt due to how many people were dining in because there were plenty of places to sit. We dont know what the issue was. I want to give this 5 stars, weve always been big supporters Rotie, but the last year, things have changed. We cant pinpoint why, maybe management has changed their tone, maybe quality of employees has changed, Im not sure. But it didnt feel the same - with food changing, people no longer making us feel welcome, owners shrugging people off, we had stopped going.

We worked with Rotie to host a rehearsal dinner for our wedding weekend. The food and service could not have been better. Each of our 30 guests were absolutely thrilled with the experience.To make matters even better, while talking with Lorenzo about the rehearsal dinner menu, I mentioned that we had not heard from the caterer of our wedding in a while. Lorenzo was quick to offer a solution and designed a beautiful menu full of variety. Rotie took care of our everything for the 110 person wedding, At the bars they crafted 2 unique cocktails in addition to an assortment of wine, beer and non alcoholic options. On the menu they even had great vegan and gluten free options for our guests with those diets.We are forever grateful to Rotie for helping make our wedding more special than we could have imagined.

We’ve been going every summer since they opened. Sometimes dining in, others take out. Obviously, we enjoyed the food and atmosphere enough to continue. Wait times from arrival to eating can be a future deterrent, consequently we take out. Unfortunately, our last couple of experiences were mediocre given the chickens were really dry. 😣 Around the table I’d heard guests indicate a lack of interest in ordering from Ojai Rotie again. At those prices, I’d like to know I can count on reliably good food/prep.

Hands-down, best casual dining in all of Ojai. French Lebanese style roasted chicken with delicious sided and fresh baked breads. Outdoor seating at picnic benches and you’ll have to stand in line to order your food and wine (separately) then have it delivered to your table. Highly recommended.

This is by far my favorite food spot in Ojai. The chicken was absolutely delicious and their garlic sauce was so authentic. Also the zaatar bread was perfect combination to eat with the chicken. I ordered the tabouleh side as well as the potatoes. The potatoes were absolutely delicious. Softest potatoes Ive ever had. I also got Baklava. The best courtyard/patio restaurant in Ojai. The roast chicken was phenomenal. The service was good. Good but cheap wine selection. We did not get the sourdough but I am guessing it would have been amazing with the juice chicken.I went to Ojai Rotie during COVID season (end June) so I am assuming the service is even better during normal times. Went to Ojai Roti on a Saturday afternoon. Read the reviews on google and expected a solid meal. Waited around 20 minutes for a table. The hostess was very nice. Placed an order for the lamb burger and 3 chicken sandwiches. About 20 minutes later, one order of the lamb burger came out. It was $16 for just a burger with no sides. We were still waiting for our other 3 sandwiches. Someone in our party asked for an update on our order. They told us they were making more chicken. After they said this we watched other people’s orders come out that were seated after us. Then 20 min later the rest of the sandwiches came out. The chicken did not taste fresh. The bread was stale. The sandwich was covered in raw garlic. The menu read the chicken would come with whipped garlic. This was definitely not whipped. It was straight garlic. I don’t mind paying $15 for a good sandwich, but this was not anything special and not worth it.

I’m sorry to say that this place was a disappointment beyond words.I am Lebanese and why they use that as a selling point I do not get at all. The chicken started out tasty then and became so dry in my mouth it was like mud. The sides were mediocre at best and absolutely flat. I will say the potatoes and the quinoa was decent. The one thing I absolutely loved was the watermelon drink. They served is in paper bags with plastic everything no ice in our cups. In 116 degree weather. It’s overrrated and overpriced. I would highly suggest you look a little closer before you jump right in.

This place is fantastic. The best chicken ever. Bring friends so you can try ALL the sides. The potatoes are the bomb, the cauliflower is delicious. The bread is so yumm you want to eat the whole loaf. The roast eggplant is divine, the pickled turnips are just the right level of pickled. I could go on... Yoy lucky people of Ojai. It was so yummy that we ordered almost the same to take home for lunch the next day. Too bad I dont live here, Id come once a week if I could.

Love the outdoor seating. Casual relaxing environment. Though they offer the rotisserie chicken which by the way all my friends love. Me being a pescatarian they have some options. Simple fresh and delicious.You order at the counter at the back of the restaurant, food is brought to your table. Wine is order seperately at the walk up mini house there in the patio area. Ojai Rotie catered our wedding in early October and our guests can’t stop talking about the food. Initially I was hesitant because at first glance the menu looked more like items for a picnic instead of a wedding.But we changed our minds very quickly when we sat down for a tasting. Everything was of such high quality and superb taste that we immediately stopped looking elsewhere. The coleslaw is a perfect example. I’ve never been a big fan of coleslaw and usually found it to be pretty tasteless or full of mayonnaise. Larry and Claud’s creation however is so rich in flavor and freshness I’ve never had anything like it before. I can say pretty much the same for all the other items on the menu as well; they were all fantastic.I was also concerned about replicating this quality at scale for a large wedding. Have no fear. The food arrived fresh, hot and delicious and our guests gobbled it down. Oh, and the bread! That alone was worth the catering. Claud is a master baker and that homemade butter that accompanies his bread is like crack.We can’t recommend Ojai Rotie enough. They worked tirelessly to make our big day one that even the foodies on our guest list raved about.

Just finished a meal - the food is pretty good. I recommend the potatoes as a side, because the chicken and pita absorb the potato juice perfectly. My low rating is primarily due to bad service. On a Saturday afternoon (non peak hours) it took over 30min to receive my meal. After inquiring about the wait, I discovered they had forgotten about it. Furthermore, I had to follow up because they didn’t give us all the food. Please improve your service.

This place is amazing. Perfect for a date night or a happy hour with friends. We just discovered it tonight - ordered a half chicken meal with sides of potatoes and caulifower and a fatouch salad to split. It was a great amount for two people. Every element was so delicious. I cant wait to come back with my friends so we can share a bottle of wine and one of their incredible looking loaves of bread.Slight word of warning... If you eat the whipped garlic (which you absolutely should), you will leave with crazy garlic breath. Enjoy it! This is what life is all about.

Outstanding chicken! Tender and juicy. Went for the whole bird. Ill come back and try the half to see if it too is tender. Some could easily say the best chicken. This may have to be a weekly thing.Sides we got (for take out) were the slaw and the cauliflower. Delicious. I think the slaw should be called kitchen sink slaw (jk) because theres everything but the kitchen sink in it. Heh. Never had coleslaw with jalepano peppers or peanuts before. There were even some golden raisins. My friend took a pass on it because it had a little cilantro in it. Heh.The cauliflower was awesome. It had a curry taste (and must have been Turmeric based). So, extra stars for great sides that stand on their own.Still full stars plus even though the bread wasnt a fav for me (this is personal pref. people love the bread). The chicken meal comes with a flat bread thats alright. We got a loaf of the sourdough too. The sourdough is certainly well made and has the perfect balance of crisp crust and soft center. For me though whole wheat sourdough isnt my deal. The wheat obscures the sourdough taste. I love a well made white sourdough.Last note, this is mostly a patio dining (and I would think they do a lot of take away biz like we did) place. Theres one café table inside but outside is where you want to sit. The walk up order counter is bizy.We called ahead (which I think is a good idea for take away and easy). Just check your bag to make sure you got everything you ordered. (Poor girl forgot our sides. I think she felt worse about it than I did. Theyre busy so stuff like that happens now and then. )

Not sure what the deal is at this place. We walked into patio seating area, told we could sit anywhere and someone would be with us shortly. Noticed multiple other tables with people sitting, waiting. Wait staff just seemed to be walking around aimlessly, it appeared they were doing something, but it wasn’t grabbing menus, taking drink orders, or even bringing food out to people. After 10 minutes, and noticing that none of the other tables were being waited on we just decided to leave. It was surreal. I thought maybe at one point we were on a gotcha tv show, or part of a social experiment. Weird happenings in Ojai tonight.
