My wife Bianca and I recently got married at the Ojai Retreat and Inn. It was a dream and a truly wonderful experience. The Ojai Retreat was a key element of our wedding. We chose to buy out the whole place for the weekend, which was fantastic because family got to stay right on site at the venue. The venue is very DIY, so prepare to do some work, but trust me it’s worth it. We did the ceremony at the Pink Moment Terrace which was gorgeous, the cocktail hour in the Waterfall Garden, which was serene and lovely. We held the dinner on the Mountain View Patio which provided a stunning backdrop for dinner. The staff was very knowledgeable, patient, kind, and helpful. They gave us freedom to do what we wanted and were there if we needed them. The Retreat has such a lovely and peaceful energy, which really helped make the day as special as it was. All of our best to the staff, we’ll be back soon as guests. 10/10 would recommend for weddings!

Spent the weekend in Ojai and this was a great place to stay. There are some places to eat within walking distance of you dont mind the hill. My wife and I walked down to the nature preserve and to some of the shops a little beyond that. Great views of the valley and it was nice and quiet when we were there. The rooms were nice for a 2 star place, no TV which was not a big deal for me and my wife. The breakfast was nice too, which was included. The staff interaction we had although limited was very positive.

Finally getting around to a review. We came here for a weekend getaway in December. We were excited for a quaint retreat and had decent expectations given the reviews. We were disappointed from the start. We were told at check-in that we booked a room with a SHARED bathroom. Apparently booking a room with a shared bathroom was “our fault” since it is written in small print at time of purchase. We were then met with towels like sandpaper, rusted shower head, old bed with a stained mattress, and disgusting carpets. We were told to take our shoes off which is absurd given the aforementioned state. As for breakfast, the bread was stable, scone was weeks old. We expected something decent but the experience was horrible.

This was a wonderful, quiet getaway. The grounds were beautiful and remote, and the staff were very helpful and kind. We enjoyed the layout of cottages of 2 or more rooms, and the rooms felt very private due to the layout. The views were gorgeous, and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast patio and pink moment patios were lovely!

My gf has been coming here since she was a girl and so had filled me in on both the history of The Retreat, as well as the state of the buildings, grounds and rooms including floors, carpets, etc.She booked us for two nights in the Topa Topa room, and I must admit that I was interested to see how the shared bathroom and hallway kitchenette setup would work out, and was very pleased with both.We had our own half of the bathroom accommodations, including sets of soft(ish) towels and washcloths. Our accommodations included a mini fridge, microwave and small coffee maker.We were able to take advantage of the Quiet Room as well after hours, because of our booking of the Topa Topa, which was enormously convenient and enhancing our overall stay as it was like having our own suite facing the west off of the balcony.The main patio was awesome to chill on and read, watch a bit of news, and otherwise just BE...I mean, THE VIEW, tho.🙌🌄⛰️🗻🙌The mountain are so absolutely majestic, as corny as that sounds, and have such a settling and peaceful feel them...I found the morning breakfast satisfying enough, and overall very Health Conscious and Tasty.I think we enjoyed our best nights sleep in some time, as a result.I already know we will be back again soon.

Really fantastic place. They added personal touches for my boyfriends birthday, which made the stay even sweeter. Very clean and comfortable rooms with breathtaking views. The view is worth the stay on its own! But the customer service and friendliness is top notch. Would absolutely return!

This is the cutest little retreat you can ask for in Ojai. The rooms are dispersed among cottage like structures, so you arent on top of each other. The amenities are great given the age and remoteness of the property. The views are SPECTACULAR and the owners are such sweethearts. We loved doing yoga in the waterfall garden in the morning and watching the Pink Moment from the dedicated terrace. Its nice and quiet and cozy and romantic. For the price we paid, this place was a home run.

Huge disappointment. The grounds are lovely, but the room I stayed in was not lovely. I thought I was booking a room with a view, but it turns out I booked the wrong room. My error. My reservation was for 2 nights. I had spent hours researching the perfect spot to get some writing done and was super excited for this retreat based on the picture of the room I thought I was booking. I was incredibly disappointed when I opened the door to my room and it didnt match the picture with the magical view I was expecting. There was a stain on the floor and it smelled musty even with the window open. Somehow I booked the wrong room. I spoke with the front desk, explained the situation, and asked if they could accommodate me shortening my stay to one night instead of the two planned given my situation. The answer was a hard, no. No exceptions, you booked it, no refunds. The only thing they could offer is another room (still not the room I thought I booked) at double the cost, or to try to sell the second night of my room, and if they did sell it (seriously? theres a reason it was available on short notice), I would get a certificate minus a $20 fee ... The minimal accomodating thing they could do, if they are completely unwilling to refund for the night not being used, would be to give the certificate for another stay as a we are so sorry, please stay with us again another time. Not we may give you a certificate, minus fees, IF we are able to unload your room on someone else. Why bother? If they are able to sell the room, why not just give you a refund? Bizarre. The customer service is severely lacking. Not a typical B & B ... no little snacks or bottled water (and the tap water comes out of the faucet yellow.) The breakfast was equivalent to what you would get at a Holiday Inn (continental breakfast) if Holiday Inn had organic options. No little extra touches. And the internet is slug slow in the cozy room. My dream of a magical escape to get some writing done was crushed and the lack of empathy to remedy the situation was underwhelming. I would not stay here again.

From the moment you arrive and see the views offered here, you can tell this place is run by, and frequented by, people who live a spiritual life and appreciate nature and calm surroundings. My girlfriend and I went up to Ojai for a getaway weekend over Thanksgiving, and we immediately fell in love with the inn, and the vibe. They have a number of books on spirituality, consciousness, and meditation that are available for guests to read and borrow. In fact, as we were leaving a couple of the books caught on eye, and the manager said that we could even take them with us so long as we mail them back. What generosity! We took them up on their offer, and I plan to send back another book in addition to the one Im returning so I can pay them back and then some. The views of the mountains and valley are splendid, and all the other guests seemed to come with a similar peace and tranquility about them. There are rooms for meditation and yoga, and there are several areas on the grounds for calm relaxation while listening to the birds or flowing water nearby. Please check it out for a lovely weekend to center yourself.

Quiet and sunk into the natural setting of Ojai. Has a great place to view The Moment. The breakfast is a variety of delightful foods: fresh croissants, the Ojai Retreat blend of granola, yogurt, fruits, and more. Highly recommend. Need to book ahead of time!

It’s perfect and amazing. My husband and I really like it . We stayed in the Sky room. It was exactly like the photos. Very lovely place . We enjoyed being off our devices and instead appreciating the views and simplicity for two days. I’m so happy for the our time .

We stayed in the Garden room. It was exactly like the photos. The room is tiny, but full of windows so it feels open. Kitchen had plates, pots and pans, etc plus mini fridge and stove. They serve free breakfast, limited options. We had our own patio area with a view. No tv or WiFi. We enjoyed being off our devices and instead appreciating the views and simplicity for a few days.

I was not able to spend the two nights I booked here due to a nasty respiratory infection. Currently waiting for my covid test results from a PCR, so cant definitely say it isnt covid. Yes, they are clear about their cancellation policy online, but quite frankly, its extremely punitive and puts other guests at risk during COVID times. I called two days before my booking to say I was unwell and asked if I could get a credit. Even a discounted credit would have sufficed. Absolutely not under any circumstances unless you cancel during the five day window. The office manager was kind towards me, but was also encouraging me to come up despite being sick. I told her that their policies were both unfair to patrons and put others at risk if they were encouraging actively sick people to come up. They book two weeks out and are constantly full, so I have a hard time believing that giving someone some sort of credit due to illness or emergency would really make their business suffer. I however, lost 365 dollars (I am a freelance creative and making very little money at the moment), so this was a big loss for me. I had to call them multiple times over the two days to see if theyd managed to rent out my room. Only if they manage to rent it out to someone else will they refund you anything. I will not be going back there due to this experience. Honestly, if they had just given me a credit, even partial, I would have had a positive feeling about this place and would have simple rebooked when well.

Really quaint hotelI think theres only 12 units so not a lot of traffic eitherBare bones, but everything was well kept clean and working in the oak room where we stayedContinental breakfast is served from 8 - 930 in the morningCoffee tea hot chocolate oj beagles toast cereal yogurt and hard boiled eggs to mention a few itemsNice views all around the property as you can see in my picturesA nice little walk down into miners oaks main drag on el roblar ave which has a couple of small markets, shops and places to eatIts a bit off the beaten trail but well worth it if youre looking for a quiet little place to stay away from it all but still close enough to get there if youre inclined to go into ojai downtown

A very friendly young lady manages it reliably and customer-oriented. It is very pleasantly quiet. No mass tourism. For weddings etc. super suitable. The breakfast buffet is very tasty and healthy. And healthy food often takes a long time to find in the USA. For example, there was whole grain bread, almond milk, milk with vitamin D, regular milk, rice bread (gluten-free), fresh fruit, eggs, various bagels, yogurt, cream cheese and Swiss cheese, Kellogs and much more. Attention is paid to regional products and environmental protection (as far as “possible” in the USA). You should have a car to get there. There are sufficient parking spaces on site. The gardens are spacious and wild bunnies and squirrels hop around everywhere. The furnishing style is romantic. Children under 12 or pets are not permitted. Students and seniors over 65 receive a discount. Everything is very private.
