Wonderful venue! Staff are very kind and accommodating as well as a gorgeous and picturesque location and hall. The Rite is a favorite of halls Ive visited. Everytime I go it feels as if Im walking through a castle. Definitely a must see place and site to host an event!

Beautiful building and lovely restroom gets it 5 stars. It was difficult to hear conversations in main room without speaking loud due to acoustics - but one can gaze at the magnificent ceiling if they can’t hear.

Beautiful place -history, architecture and functionality. The solstice celebration was a delight both for the participates and thr audience. Lots of talents among local musicians, singers and dancers. I liked the interactive nature of the scenario - dancing and singing together was fun. The scotish (Celtic) folklore and R Burnes as a source of it - great!

1920s Gem and I was fortunate to get to see all the levels during an event. The 4th floor auditorium is magnificent and is like stepping back in time. The main restrooms are by far still as charming with a barber shop in the mens, and a waiting room for the ladies. I cant wait for a reason to go back!

Beautiful space. We went for an event - and looked up and around - it’s a gorgeous building g right next to the lake. Even the restrooms are delightful - with couches, barber chairs in front of the men’s room. From a bygone era.

This is an amazing hall! I definitely recommend to all. I had a quinceañera here and the service was beyond my expectations. The manager Leanne was super kind, and would answer all of my worries almost immediately. The price might seem high, but when comparing to other venues and what this place has to offer, this venue had the best prices. Its beautiful, great parking, and the staff was extremely considerate and patient especially with my mexican family if you know what I mean.

Very spacious for big gatherings. 3 screens on stage to accommodate presentations but the large center screen was woefully under-lit. Amazingly ornate and spacious ladies restroom. The meeting hall was also dark. Could use a sprucing up with better lights.

This was a site visit as we will be using one of the spaces for several performances. It is easy to find. Parking is adequate. Currently, only one controlled entrance. Near the lake, so, very scenic.

Its a beautiful venue, but it is very freaky to me because the stair access is so limited. One small stairway on the left side of the building could not possibly evacuate hundreds of people. The equivalent stairway on the right side of the building was locked last year. I was told that it was not usable for the Revels!?

We come here every year for the Christmas Revels and love the space! Not a bad seat in the house, really. Large, clean bathrooms, beautiful lobby space.Easy walking distance from BART and right along Lake Merritt. There are parking lots nearby and street parking if you need it.

The Scottish Rite Center is an exceptional building for any sort of event, and especially if you wish to wow the attendees of your event. It is grand, it is beautiful and there is just so much to see. We went for the California Symphony and Cirque event which was just amazing. Parking is not easy but looking around the area gets you parked for sure. Try the parking lot next to McDonalds.

Very unprofessional Scottish venue manager Mr. John the person that is in charge or managing. he made me waste my time to come to see the venue only to tell me that they can rent for sweet sixteen parties or teen of any kind, which he could if tell me that over the phone this morning when I talk to him and ask him again all the questions and rules and regulations, but instead he made me come all the way there drove 1 hour 15 minutes, to tell me that they dont rent for teen parties anymore as it has been shootings and drunk people out of control, automatically he was judging me because I was a latino family, automatically he started telling me that the organization doesnt allow those events anymore. I told him I talk to you a couple of hour ago and told you the occasion and even ask you if your location allows alcohol beverage for adults guest for teens party and you told me sure it was allow this location three weeks before I ask the same questions when I was inquiring to rent the hall for a sweet sixteen event, he told me they rent for any occasion, but I must see the place as is so gorgeous historical 1929 building, he never mention anything about the place not allow events for teens parties, he only explain that chairs and tables were not including on the rental price and since alcohol was allow, only required to have security guards which I dont mind about that I was just looking for a beautiful place for this special occasion for my straight A student daughter I didnt mind the cost, I was prepare for that, so today he switch thing around when he so me in person, this person that is managing this historical building can not focus and change from one minute to the next, my daughter was very disappointed, this is a beautiful place, but to bad that the person that is in charged of the place can judge you by your race comparing me with careless person, he even started telling me if I tell him Im going to have 200 guest thats all security will allow, that everyone else will not be allow, I felt the bad vibe right there in my face, I keep reassuring that would not happen, that I want my daughters party to be a great memory. Im really upset that people like this thinks that you have the time to waste make you drive all the way there to tell me what he could it tell me by phone. Im a business person and time is money for me and he just wasted my husband and my time. so be careful when you go viewing this venue make sure your appearance is good enough so he wont judge you by your cloth or your race. as he thinks everyone is the same, the way a teen party can have issues unfortunately same thing can happen in a weeding or any other type of event, but if they dont want to rent it for specific celebration he should tell you over the phone and not make anyone value time be wasted. so definitely he is not sincere he will tell you one thing and then changes, so be careful make sure whatever he tells you he give it to you in writing as he doesnt know what the heck he is talking about, and he can decide to change his mind and decided to switch. the place is gorgeous, but manager do not deserve to be representing it, he can give you bad information and youll be screw. I give John cero star, but the place is beautiful, it would be perfect if this guy wouldnt be in charge of it. I would like the organization in charge to let me know if is true and if true to make sure they train this person to give the right information by phone, that they do not rent the venue for this type of event. also earlier he told me he had an appointment with another client and he take good care of the clients so it may take up to 2 hours, and give me the appointment at 4:00 pm. while he was working in other event that was about to happen, he probably gave me 5 minutes of his time so I was not a client to him, I notice right away when he came to open the door he was disrespectful didnt even greed I had to shake his hand and he keep walking and ignored my husband, then I grab his attention and introduce my husband to him,

The guy we had the appointment with kept whining about how they just cant bring em in any more like they used to. The sob stories were too much. Then they updated the elevators that used bell hops. He literally told me there were never people who worked the elevator when Ive been a season ticket holder of the 4 seasons since the 90s. He lied to my face so that sob story i dont buy.

Truly a landmark building -- if you are interested in Scotland and / or architecture, this place is a wonderful treat, particularly in the Bay Area where everything now seems to be modern or PacRim-themed. The site dresses for a job holidays, so for Christmas is definitely well worth a visit. The California Revels are hosted here every December so be sure to visit the Web site for details!

Ive been to a couple of events here, very beautiful place inside and out. Its very, very close to Lake Merritt. The surrounding area is very nice also. Theres limited parking at the center but there is a parking garage close by.

This was 18th Annual MusicalTribute Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King in Oakland, California. I attended this event because my daughter Clarissa, who is the Executive Director of Parent Voices Oakland, received the 2020 Oakland Citizen Humanitarian Award. Of course, I was very happy and proud of her because I know how hard she has worked to help working parents get affordable, quality childcare.Ive never been to this event before, and Im so glad I attended. In addition to seeing my daughter receive that award, I also had the opportunity to hear and enjoy the fantastic singers, musicians and choirs who were also part of the program. It was a wonderfully uplifting night of music that caused many people in the audience to stand up, clap their hands, dance in the aisles and sing along with the music. I especially loved Living Jazz Childrens Project, which has provided music education for Oakland public elementary schools for the past 16 years. The children brought tears of happiness to my eyes when they sang, and at times, danced with such joyful energy. There were other singers, musicians and choirs on the program too, such as singers Tammi Brown, Tiffany Austin, Clif Payne, Raz Kennedy, Tony Lindsey, and The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir.As much as I thoroughly enjoyed the music, it was the presentation of the Oakland Citizen Humanitarian Award to my daughter by United States Congressional Representative Barbara Lee that really touched me. And yes, I cried very proud Momma tears of joy!

A Wonderful venue on the shores of lake Merritt. 1920s architecture makes it a perfect place for that great Gatsby party, but it stands timeless for any occasion. The marble granite and bronze threw out the building give that sense of solid craftsmanship not seen in buildings of today. The artistic ornaments that accent the walls and ceilings do nothing but to heighten this feeling. When dancing there or sitting down to enjoy a delicious meal from one of the in house caterers a feeling of that wholesomeness, accompanying terrific views of the lake, a dash of cosmopolitan life buzzing around just outside the big heavy solid bronze doors can instill a feeling of being in your own world.
