The team was very nice and friendly!I came in with a dead battery and they were detailed, thorough, and transparent with what they were going to do. They wanted to test other things to be sure it was the battery and not another underlying issue, which I appreciated.The work was quick and affordable. Overall, my first experience with Northbay Automotive was great and I will definitely return whenever I need my car serviced in the future.Thanks!

Im new to Petaluma, and had the perfect excuse to become established with a local mechanic when I ran over debris on the freeway and needed to have the engine shield removed/replaced. Excellent service. Although one if my issues of a water leak was unsuccessful, their efforts to try after the second time shows true dedication to resolving my concerns. My other issue was very minor but provided above and beyond service to do additional tasks that would help ensure no future concerns. I’m pleased with taking my car here whenever I need help!

Broke down with a bad clutch, had my car towed while checking reviews online in a pinch. After arriving at the shop, customer service was professional and courteous. Repair seems good, can’t really tell but it runs great. Was told the repair will be warranted to 2 years. Labor cost flat fee, which seemed a bit high. Did comparison price at my local shop and found their rate to be within a couple hundred bucks so rather than move the car, I decided to have NorthBay do the work. Please with how easy they made the process, got me in and out in 2 working days. Thank you!

Every time that I’ve been there they give me an estimate of costs within a couple of hours and the work that my car requires has always been completed the same day. The staff is beyond great and I always look forward to having a working car. I highly recommend them and I got a recommendation from a neighbor to use their services.

We were traveling from out of state when our SUV started acting strangely over the weekend. Since we were staying in Petaluma, I reached out to the highest rated independent repair facility that was nearby. I called first thing Monday morning and was told by Don that they will fit me into an already busy day. Whew! I dropped the car off around 8:30 AM and discovered a well-run facility that oozed professionalism, organization, and was well managed. Crossing my fingers, I left them our can hoping that the problem(s) were not too significant.Shortly after 1:00 PM I received a call that the car was ready and we could continue on with our trip throughout CA. The cost was incredibly reasonable.This is a great operation, and I suggest you give them a chance. Can I convince you guys to create a location in my home state? Ive taken my cars to Northbay Automotive for 20 years where I have always gotten great, reliable service at a reasonable price. I have never had the impression of being upsold service that wasnt needed, or that I have been overcharged. Every service has come with a quote, an explanation, and the opportunity to choose which work I want done. They have never done me the favor of completing additional work without my pre-approval. They have never inflated the bill after the estimate. All service was performed in a timely manner. Don has a qreat team and I will continue to take my business there.

I have been using NB for almost 20 years I think. Definitely through several vehicles! They are always kind, knowledgeable, accommodating and understanding of my single-mom budget to work around. They look out for the safety issues that need immediate attention and the things that can wait a bit. They don’t nickel and dime me and I always trust that they are being up front. Way back when we started, I used to check with my Dad and see if what they said seemed to line up with what he would advise… because he always maintained my card… but he was in another state and getting older now, and he always said it was great advice that he would have given too. Now my Dad has sadly passed on, but I trust these guys the same. And on one occasion, when I couldn’t make it to pick something up left in my vehicle… Don even offered to drop it off to my house all the way in Cotati on his way home. For over the past ten years, Northbay Automotive has been our go-to mechanic shop of choice. Don is constantly engaging and helpful, whether on the phone or in person. The work is done timely and well. Whenever a product has needed the use of a warranty they have handled it quickly and efficiently without complaint. I had a starter that failed. I also needed a quick turnaround on the repair as my vehicle is my daily driver. Since I am a AAA member, I looked for shops that are AAA recommended. North Bay Auto, with 2 locations in Petaluma, came recommended. Despite their busy schedule, they were able to have my car back to me in less than 24 hours. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Ive been a customer of Northbay Automotive for 25 years, with 4 different vehicles (Saturn, Subaru, another Saturn, and Prius) over that time. From basic service and tires to diagnosis and repair of tricky intermittent problems, they have always been great at convenient scheduling, reliable repair and follow-up, and good communication. I also wanted to mention that Northbay Automotive (one word, on the south end of town) is not at all related to the fleeting existence (?) of North Bay Automotive (two words, north end of town) which arrived a few years ago, and proceeded to get bad reviews and confuse people. Stick to the south end of town folks, and you can also enjoy nearby eateries. (Mr. Moms, Aqus). I realize Im sounding like the Chamber of Commerce, but Im not. Im a neighbor, and am happy to have good businesses in my hood.

I have been going to North Bay Auto for decades. I keep going back because I completely trust them in every way. They are professional and very competent. Yesterday I bought tires from them and received the best price possible. In addition to installing them, they did a quick maintenance check and noticed an issue with my brakes that I had been ignoring for months. They also reinstalled a protective seal to the underbelly of my car with no charge to me. I feel very well taken care of and have complete confidence in them! They have taken care of the last four cars I have owned and I will always be faithful to them.

I ended up having my car here for nearly two months, but I don’t think it could have possibly been in better hands. First time was for a head gasket replacement, for which they re-machined the factory headers to a perfect fit, and they also replaced the timing belt, water pump, and thermostat while they had the engine apart- things the car needed badly. The second time the throttle body needed to be replaced, and I was not charged for labor due to unusual circumstances where they weren’t sure if they had caused the issue during the gasket repairs. The third time the turbocharger went bad, and rather than brushing it under the rug or deflecting, they owned up to it and didn’t charge me a penny to replace it. Serious credit to Don, who was incredibly helpful. I was consistently impressed by his honesty, thoroughness, and transparency. As arduous as the last couple months have been for my car, these interactions were more than enough to cement my trust in this shop and these people.

At first, I was very excited to bring my Subaru in to this establishment as I heard many good things online and felt confident. I was bringing it in because my car was randomly overheating. The initial meet was very nice and I was excited to have my car worked on. I brought it in around 11 and did not hear anything back til around 4. When they called, they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with my car, said they would replace my thermostat for me. When I received my car back after spending $460, my check engine light was on, and the car was running unbelievably rough. A lot worse than it was when I brought it in. I immediately called and asked if I could come back in. They did not charge me for this which was nice. When I received the car this time around, the battery holders were just sitting on top of the battery, not holding anything in place, the coolant cap was not on, and it just felt like there was a lot of incompetency for $460. Not to mention, my car is still randomly overheating, so the initial problem is still a problem. I could have done all of this on my own, a lot better too, and really just feel let down as I was relying on using that car for the weekend.

Having your car break down while out of town is stressful but the staff at this shop made it as easy as possible. I got some good advice about driving there before I got there.I arrived at about 2:30 and they had the problem diagnosed and fixed within 2 and 1/2 hours. North bay replaced the transmission in my camper van a couple of years ago. Over the new year holiday we took the van on an outing down to Joshua Tree and the transmission started malfunctioning if the vehicle was not extremely warmed up. I brought it to Northbay and while it was unclear if it was still under warranty, Mike took it in and investigated. It turns out that for some unknown reason, the transmission was quite low on fluid. No leaks were discovered, so the vehicles transmission fluid was topped off at no charge and Mike offered to check the fluid before and after our next trip. That is exemplary service and I greatly appreciate it!

Simply the best! These guys are true locals, in that they give Petaluma the kind of old-town service our grandparents expected from their local mechanic. They are knowledgeable, fast, affordable, and trust worthy. They wont sell you something you dont need. And the prices are so good that when I call to pay my bill (when picking up my car after hours), I sometimes forget to even ask for the total, because I know it will always be less than what Im expecting. They service all our vehicles, no matter what model or make, and we even buy our tires from them. Although a bit more expensive than Costco or Big O for tires, we go with Northbay because their service over the life of the tires will far exceed that of Costco, Big O, etc., and in the end is well worth the price.

I am a new customer of Northbay. My car was sluggish to start and the starter died. I dropped off the car during a Sunday after reviewing the location online, at which point my car died. The next morning, I called and was told I would have a diagnosis on the problem that afternoon.I did not receive an estimate until four days later - a bad starter, at which I was quoted a price of $500 to fix. Upon reviewing repair pal, I found that a similarly priced starter replacement in the area was $300. When I brought this to the mechanics attention, he pointed out the price of the starter, which was $279. Since I had little recourse to get the car back, I paid, but found that the same starter was priced at $60 after getting the car home. Upon further review of the estimate, I found that the price of the estimate had been revised from $237 to $500.While the work done on the car was solid, I cannot condone the way they took advantage of my situation. I suggest that if youre a new customer, you stay away from this location.

Had a vehicle serviced with an AC recharge. It was leak checked, $280. 3 weeks later it had all leaked out . I was told the the leak was found and tightened, the. Recharged again for $250. You guessed it, 5 weeks Later no AC again. Took it back they said the seal was damaged and I needed to pay for the seal change and AC again $280 but it was now guaranteed. I believe it should have been on the house for the second 2 visits due to the they should have found they leak on visit 1 and visit 2.

I brought a Tacoma in for a pre-purchase inspection and they were friendly and accommodating, but they did not catch several significant items. A slow leak in the valve cover should have been caught while inspecting the engine compartment and leaks in the rack and pinionassembly should have been observed when inspecting the underside and shocks and struts. I subsequently purchased the truck and paid significantly to have those items repaired.

Deja Vu! While shopping, the tire pressure light came on, and worried us. So it was off to trusted NorthBay right away. Sure enough a nail that would have destroyed the tire if we had waited. I have been taking my vehicles to North Bay Auto for service for twenty years now. The latest repair was this week, when the manifold in my Buick Encore had to be replaced. Mike not only gave me a ride back to my house after I dropped off my Buick, he picked me up again when the repair was complete. He had given me a detailed explanation of the design of the manifold that made replacement necessary when a vacuum seal leak occured, and even showed me the defective manifold. In my younger days getting vehicles serviced was dicey. I wasnt always sure that I was given a fair deal, and a few times I was aware I was being ripped off and took my business elsewhere. I have a lengthy relationship with North Bay Auto because these people are honest and dedicated to doing a job well. I am secure in the knowledge that I am treated fairly and my vehicles are kept in good running order by this group. They have my highest recommendation.

I recently relocated to the Corte Madera area for Employment purposes and did not have a vehicle.
