Since becoming a mother I have wanted to provide my child with a place that she can call her home and with the help of the NACA program, my counselor Latasha Augustine I am working towards that goal. Even though there is a lot of paperwork to gather my counselor has been very helpful throughout the entire process and always willing to answer any questions that come up. After meeting with my counselor for the first time I truly understood why people have recommended the NACA program. This program wants to help the people that most banks will not help, and it makes you feel like they want you to accomplish your dreams of owning a home. I look forward to the work that still needs to be done, but I know it will get done because I have a great support system with my counselor and the entire NACA program behind me.

Ive had a fantastic experience with NACA so far. The online workshop was very informational and broke down every step. Everything has been super easy, and my counselor is very nice. I am so happy that I decided to choose the NACA home buying program. I wanted to work with an agent at another agency but they do not provide the same counseling services as NACA. My counselor Latasha is very knowledgeable and helpful. She explained every step during my intake session. The programs emphasis on affordability and fair lending makes me feel empowered that I will be able to be a homeowner. First and foremost, I will like to acknowledge and recognize my counselor Latasha Augustine for her professionalism, empathy, vast knowledge and guidance in helping me navigate the complex house-buying process. I am a first-time home-buyer and I decided to give NACA a try because most banks make it very difficult for people from minority groups to reach the American Dream. Thus, I made the choice to give NACA a shot, and I can personally attest to the fact that the counselors at NACA have a genuine concern for the underdogs. My counselor Latasha meets with me and explains all the necessary documents I need to qualify for a loan. I called her a few times and she promptly returned my calls. The NACA program is hands down the best mortgage program in America. Pros include: no down payment, no closing costs or fees, lowest interest rate with an opportunity to buy down your interest rate too! It also provides Homeownership education and a counselor to guide you through the process of being qualified for a NACA mortgage. It does require certain requirements be met before pre approval which can take time to meet all the requirements but I believe it’s worth it!

We went to an information seminar recently and they were very informative on the process and what was required. We appreciated hearing from someone who went through the process and was able to purchase a home through the NACA program. The process can be overwhelming but after the seminar and signing up to meet with our counselor, they went through the steps in depth with us and answered all of our questions with so much patience.

We are first time homebuyers and have recently qualified to buy a house through NACA. The process is fairly tedious (to benefit you), but is going smoothly! Our mortgage counselor and real estate agents work above and beyond for our best interest. We started the process in late November/early December, and are now in escrow for a house to close next month. Go NACA! 100% recommend for all first time buyers.

March of last year my cousin introduced me to the NACA Home Buyer Program. In April 2023, I went through the NACA virtual workshop to get an understanding of how the program worked for home buying. I was impressed on the amount of positive information given on how I could obtain a home with no money down, no closing cost fees, no consideration of credit score, no mortgage insurance, and could purchase this home below market fixed rate. I was a little skeptical however I continued with the process.I was assigned an amazing counselor who helped me every step of the way with the process. Even though it has been an endeavor of a journey, I am at the qualifying stage of the program. It was hard work to get here but it is definitely worth it.My main advice to those of you who are considering the NACA program. Follow the advice of your counselor. Keep those appointment sessions. They are very vital to getting you to the finish-line. Do not get discouraged. The NACA Team will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear to get you qualified and assist you in every way to becoming a homeowner.My experience with NACA has been remarkable. I wouldn’t trade the journey I have had with NACA. I certainly learned a lot on home-buying. NACA is the most promising, and affordable program out there for home-buying. I’m very grateful to have found out about the NACA program. They have so many programs available to help first time homebuyers dreams come true. One program is called HOT-PHA which stands for Home Ownership Through Public Housing Assistance. This program allows participants with housing choice vouchers to purchase a home and secure a mortgage where a portion of their 20-year mortgage is paid for by their local Housing Authority for the first 15 years. Another great benefit is that NACA requires no specific credit score, no down payment and no mortgage insurance. This saves first time home buyers so much money and creates a path for purchasing that can be easily obtained. NACA provides you with housing counselors who in turn with the help of in-house NACA realtors help you every step of the way. This is a great program for anyone who previously thought they couldn’t afford their dream because if you work with NACA and do your part and follow the action plans they put in place, they will do their part and put you in a home with a mortgage you can afford.

I’m currently still in the process of home ownership with NACA but still so very exciting that I am where I am. A little advice, if you’re also in this process and was like me a few months ago, keep pushing! So for my first appointment I literally had everything I needed, money, taxes, everything or well I thought. So I have my first appointment and was told there’s so much more things to do and of course it was, although I got so discouraged and wanted to give it all up. I was beating myself up for a while about it until I forgot about it. My next appointment comes around and a get a reminder about it, so I log in like omg I have soooo much to do. I end up having to reschedule that appointment. Get back into the mindset of this will work and get to it. God works in mysterious ways and I needed this journey for a reason, to keep going, keep fighting no matter what until I reach the destination. I love that bringing the community together, and working for the people of the community, is one of the things that they take so much pride in. I found out about NACA when looking for mortgage loan options in my search for a home. I saw that their program offered no down payment and closing costs and was immediately intrigued. I have just begun the process and they require a lot more documentation than traditional lenders. NACA is a wonderful program for people looking to buy a home, especially if you come from disadvantaged backgrounds. People often say it sounds too good to be true, but it isnt. You have to put in work; you have to be diligent and responsible; and you have to be willing to be fully vulnerable about your finances. Some take longer than others because of varying circumstances, but anything worth having is worth working for. My brother and I have chosen to go the NACA route because the benefits *FAR* outweigh all the preparation and documentation we have to go through. Its easy to feel overwhelmed, but a good counselor will guide you for as long as you need. The mortgage lending services that NACA provides are extremely beneficial for the community and help to bridge the gap between home ownership among low income and middle/high income earners. Its a blessing that the NACA program exists! The only drawback that Ive experienced so far is the website for member account access is inefficient and not user-friendly. While the newly designed website has significant improvements, it still has shortcomings that are frustrating to navigate. It also takes a long time to receive an initial intake meeting (months) where counselors dont have the flexibility to schedule initial Saturday meetings, which can inconvenience people who work during normal business hours. Nonetheless, Im extremely excited to continue with the program and look forward to my homebuying journey with NACA.

Update: I was told to write a good review to process my app along, but after over a year in the process.. with sooo much swirl and over 100 documents submitted.. I still don’t have a house. And interest rates have more than doubled since I started, so I’m in a much worse situation now with no way I can afford a home with/without them. My counselor Antonio stopped responding to all calls and emails out of nowhere with no regard. I took it all as a sign that now is not the right time, but I really regret waiting so long (since June 2021.. 1yr+) on NACA and have nothing to show for it… besides all my life documents in the hands of an incompetent and inconsiderate team that doesn’t seem truly focused on increasing home ownership. Now I guess I’ll see what the market does in 2023.. but I will NOT be relying on NACA ever again.Old forced review: NACA is an outstanding program with great benefits for new homeowners. A few months ago I heard about NACA on Instagram, a young man who lived in Chicago was speaking to, how NACA changed his life. He mentioned how NACA has; no minimum credit requirement, no fees, low interest rates, no closing costs, and no down payment. He also spoke to how he got a multi-unit property through NACA and was able to eliminate rent from his monthly expenses. This spoke volumes to me because it was something I also wanted to do. I thought to myself, this could be the first step in creating generational wealth for me and my family. Afterwards I immediately started doing additional research into NACA.Now, here I am a couple months later writing this review. I hate to be so cliche, but the NACA program to me really is a dream come true. For years I’ve wanted to own property in the city that I grew up in. However my biggest issue was that I was raised in one of the most expensive cites in the world, Los Angeles California. Im here to give an update on my experience with the NACA program. I still stand by my original rating. I think the program is wonderful, but the only thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 star rating is all the jumps and hoops you have to go through. NACA has very particular criteria to keep in mind when looking for a home. Going into this, I knew it was going to take some time, but I just wasnt expecting it to take as long as it has been. This program is definitely not for the weak and impatient, but Im pretty far along so it would seem like waste to give up now.I started this journey in February 2021 and got approved in September 2021. The longest and hardest part so far has been the house search. I have been putting in offers ever since Ive been approved, but the market has been tough and my offers kept getting beat out. It was a little discouraging at times, but I refused to give up. Having my offer accepted is beyond my control, but I kept looking and putting in offers, and I finally had one of my offers accepted. This part has been moving pretty quickly and everyone involved with the deal has been on top of it.It made sense for my situation to use NACA, but NACA is not for everyone. If youre willing to stick it out and stay the course, it can absolutely be worthwhile. I say do your research and see if its a good fit for you.Im coming up on 2 years in this program (which is long to some),but NACA has been worth it to me because Im much closer to being a homeowner than I was before.

I have been working with NACA for several years throughout my decision to purchase a home. I am finally settled and am once again going through the process.Let me say that NACA is an excellent program for everyone- regardless of income and background. However, with all programs there are some good and not so great things to consider.Here are a few Pros and Cons:PROS--Purchase a home with a point or point and a half lower than the national average interest rate.-Assistance with a new build, older home, home renovation or building.-Character and income based- not FICO score based.-Defenders against predatory lending. Been around for many years!-Works with DPA programs, but those programs usually do not work with NACA.-Usually no downpayment needed to buy the home.-You never feel discriminated against or disrespected by the company (or its reps) or what they stand forCONS--Major org turnover- may not get the same counselor each time.-Old infrastructure with their systems.-LOTS of paperwork to upload.-Can only get a better rate and affordability amount for Priority areas over Non-Priority areas. This can be not only a headache, but a heartbreak to manage. Most Priority areas are poor, downtrodden, higher crime and not as developed neighborhoods with a lower Median Income Tract. This is probably the biggest and saddest part about this great program.-Must participate 5 times a year advocating for NACA. This can include registering people to vote, introducing people to NACA, etc. - This can be an issue for busy people or people with kids.-Must take their initial class to go through the program.-Takes a VERY long time to go through the process, so you probably should not look for a house for a while. Patience is definitely needed.-Not all places work with NACA.-Underwritten by BofA-Still need to have ALOT of money in the bank to show proof of funds/shock payment/savings pattern.-Getting NACA qualified takes a lot of work-Like FHA, you must live in the house for the duration of the mortgage. Major consequences if you move.-Must be first time homebuyer to use their program.-You still gotta go find your own realtor, appraiser, etc.This time around, I am having a great experience as my counselor is an amazing, knowledgeable, dynamic young lady out of Southern California, N. NACA is an amazing resource for those who find themselves locked out of the home buying process due to limited funds for down payment or not-so-perfect credit. Mortgage counselors help you assess your affordability and guide you along your journey to home ownership. However, you must definitely have patience and persistence. My 1st two one-on-one appointments were cancelled with no notification. I had to call NACA a few times and I was assigned a new counselor shortly after my second appointment was supposed to start. So far so good after that. Be prepared to submit a lot of paperwork. I am nearing the end of the qualification process after about five months, and the potential reward greatly outweighs the hassle.

I and my family are happy to be a NACA member and will definitely be referring close family and friends who are looking forward in purchasing a home. I and my husband actually hard about NACA early last year of June 2020 through my neighbor who told us about NACA because we were looking forward to purchasing a home, but didn’t know how to go about it. So we signed up for NACA workshop and we attended our workshop in October of 2020. After the workshop we were able to get an appointment date with a counselor. Our first NACA intake appointment was with counselor Derek in December of last year 2020, but unfortunately we couldn’t get through because my husband was at work during our intake appointment session and his presence was needed. So, we had to reschedule and got another appointment date with counselor Latasha she was very professional and worked patiently with me and my husband in uploading most of our documents to our web-file and also encouraged us to keep on uploading documents that is on the checklist to our web-file and answered all of our questions. We were very much satisfied with her level of service and can’t wait for our next appointment coming up soon and looking forward to becoming a new home owner.

Before joining the NACA Family, I completely counted myself out as ever being a homeowner. Until NACA, I had no hope. I was divorced, I was inundated in school loans, and my credit was only “fair.” My mom who is a realtor encouraged me to attend a NACA workshop back in 2018, but it took me a while to get on board.I finally signed up for a workshop in 2021. I uploaded my documents and completed my web file. After uploading my docs, I emailed my counselor Derek, and asked him to keep me in mind should he have any cancellations. The time period of waiting for a counseling session took a while due to COVID-19 but it was well worth the wait because I was assigned to a counselor by the name of Derek Bailey. Derek was a very helpful counselor and told me exactly what needed to be done to move on to the next steps into purchasing a home. This program is amazing. A regular home loan would have required my husband and I to pay a $35,000 down payment, but not with NACA. We instead used that money towards our buy down.Due to the pandemic all of the mortgage counselors were working from home and their systems on occasion would freeze, and sometime paperwork you uploaded didnt show in your file, but overall a great program.Our mortgage counselor Sharon Bogney was tough but amazing. NACA Los Angeles - this program is lengthy, but valuable! Trying to buy a home in the middle of a pandemic has been made possible through the NACA program. Though the keys are not in had just yet - Were on step 7 of 10 (the credit access phase). I first heard about NACA from a coworker whose parents were able to save their house through the NACA Home Save program. I looked into the program and thought it sounded too good to be true, but it is in fact as good as it sounds! The workshops and pre-qualification exercises prompted my partner and I to analyze our finances and save in a more efficient way. My counselor, Sharon Bogney, is excellent at what she does and was always very clear in telling us exactly what we needed to do every step of the way. It is because of her guidance that today Im in escrow for a home of my dreams despite the intense housing market. She even connected me with my realtor, who has mentored us and fights for us as we negotiate. My interest rate is .7% meaning every month we can put more towards our equity. I never knew that home ownership was within reach until NACA showed me that it was possible. I cant recommend this mortgage enough!

We are currently looking for a 4+ bed 3+bath home in La County which has proven to be extremely difficult with our current budget using conventional methods. Fortunately, through NACA, the possibilities are placed within reach. And although the process of submitting all the information NACA requires to get a loan can be frustrating and tedious, the end results are extremely rewarding. Quite simply, it would be the difference of settling for a home that doesnt meet our needs and paying too much for it and getting the house we need at a price we can actually afford.

Before joining the Naca program, I never thought I would be able to own a home. I thought with some credit challenges it would not be possible. The program has taught me how to save and monitor my spending. I cant wait to make it to the finish line of CLOSED on my new home! I would recommend NACA to everyone attempting to purchase a home...Good Luck!

Great program for 1st time buyers! No down payment is a game changer! Real people with a real genuine desire to help you become an homeowner. Only drawback is the limitations on the max purchasing loan amount which currently presents some challenges to find a suitable home in high priced markets. Also the documents submitting online process is repetitive and not user friendly. Still recommend NACA to all.

I first heard about the NACA program from a friend and was very excited to look more into the program. I had my first intake appointment last week and I was very pleased with the feedback and information that was given by my counselor. I look forward to continuing the process of being NACA qualified!
