The doctor and one man in customer service are great, but the rest of the customer service staff was very bad. Had to visit three times because they messed up my husbands glasses. Instead of apolozing about their mistakes, the customer svc lady had a really bad attitude. We are not going back to this place any more. Amazing their rating is this high.

I went in for annual check up with Dr. Nelson Murata today. I had such a nice visit with him. He does not rush, he is passionate and knowledgeable about all things ocular, and he took his time with me even though my concerns were minor. I learned so much about my eyes today. I will not go to any other optometrist. Also the facility is clean and modern, and the staff are friendly and professional. 10/10!

New patient but beautiful new office! I did wait ~25 minutes after my appointment time before I asked when I would be seen. After going to BOH, the receptionist came back after about 5 minutes to tell me that they’d be calling me shortly. Dr. Karlyn Murata is extremely eloquent and easy to talk to! I chose a place in Simi since driving to Van Nuys (usual optometrist) really takes a lot out of my day- I’m overall happy with the service and will be back for my rx lenses :)

Very frosty service, seems like they did not care about customer service. I did my eye glass prescription there and I can not see well with these glasses. When asked if they could email me my receipt and prescription it was not possible. I would not recommend this place purely out of the level of customer service I received.

I was fortunate to have both Doctor Karlyn Murata and Doctor Nelson Murata as my doctors. Both are very kind and professional.Doctor Nelson Murata’s knowledge will amaze you. He has been an optometrist for 4 decades and is still passionate about the industry and loves to talk about industry innovations and innovators like Donald Korb.Doctor Karlyn shared her fathers passion. I had my prescription filled from another optometrist at Costco. I couldnt see peripherally without getting dizzy. So Dr. Murata was tasked with doing some detective work and comparing my RX from 11 years ago with the RX from another optometrist and the one that he ascertained from examining my eyes this month. With this new RX in hand, I went back to Costco, and they had to redo the entire lenses on both of my glasses. Voila! I can see clearly and images are so crisp and clean now. I am so grateful to Dr. Nelson Murata for doing such great detective work. I can see just fine now without feeling dizzy and feeling like I was going to fall. Thank you

Ive always had great experiences since coming to Murata Eyecare. Everyone from the receptionist, to the staff to the doctors have always taken care of me. On my visit yesterday, I felt safe in watching all of their procedures to insure everything was disinfected and clean. It was nice to see the doctor wash her hands in the room I was in. We have been seeing Dr. Nelson Murata annually for over 20 years. His examination is very thorough. All of our past visits are on computer so he can easily compare them to the current exam; also to review any notations made during earlier exams. When it was time for cataract surgery, he recommended someone who we could not have been more pleased with. The facility is very spacious and their equipment is very modern. The staff is very friendly and courteous. They also have snacks for you you while you wait. We definitely can recommend Murata Eyecare.

I have been going to this office for 34 years and all the staff and doctors have always been wonderful. Tonight, while getting ready to drive my friend to LAX to catch an international flight, the lens popped out of my glasses. It was after 5:00 and the office was closed however there was still someone inside. They unlocked the door and fixed my glasses right away so I could safely drive my friend to the airport. I have been a patient for many years. On this visit I needed a replacement for a lens that I had scratched. I showed up unannounced and 30 minutes before they close for lunch. Since I live 30 minutes away, I was fine with waiting until they returned from lunch.I did not wait more than 30 minutes. They put my repair to the front of the line, which enabled me to get back home and back to work quickly. Thank you so much!

I had trouble with a pair of Oakley sunglasses due to the frames curvature for sports activities. He went up and beyond the call of duty to assist me with a proper fitting. Dr. Karlyn is the best! She has an exceptional bedside manner and is very professional. I’ve seen Dr. Murata and others in the office as well. All high-quality. Dr. Karlyn recently found an abnormality in one of my scans. I was referred to a retinal specialist and I had surgery within days for retinal tears. She could have prevented me from going blind- because I incorrectly thought the flashes of light I was seeing were migraine related. (As did my neurologist!) OK, so the office staff gave me my old Rx for contacts and I didn’t notice until I got home. I called, they re-ordered and will correct. All good. I’ll still take a tiny mistake from office staff and a huge win (I can see)from the Doctors over there! Keep it up.

Dr Murata and his staff are so thorough. I’ve been coming here since I moved out to Simi Valley. At my last visit I wanted to try out contact lenses for the very first time. I am so glad that they do a whole training and follow up. They don’t just throw some contacts at you, they talk you through it, pros, cons etc. They take the time and patience to get you used to putting them in and taking them out safely and comfortably. Never rushing you. They discuss fulltime and part time use.When it comes to frames, I find their selection to be of higher end, which for me, is a pro. I don’t have time, nor any interest in cheap frames that will warp easily, break or sit uncomfortably. I want to put my glasses on or contacts in and forget about them when I’m at work. I don’t want to be and can’t afford to be distracted all day by my corrective eye wear.They work with you on how to get the best deal with insurance or their own deals for pricing.Scheduling and rescheduling is zero hassle here as well.The facility itself is top notch. Clean, accessible, and ample parking. The equipment is super well maintained, and staff is friendly, presentable; and most importantly super knowledgeable and pleasant.I’ve seen Dr Murata as well as several other doctors here, and have been more than happy with them all. This makes it so nice to know if I reschedule with another Dr. I’m getting the same exact care/attention/quality across the board, you can tel they all truly enjoy what they do, and are happy to explain what they are doing, and what is going on with your eyes...Shout out to Debbie as well, she is a magician with fitting glasses to your face for comfort & position.

Dr Murata and his team have been caring for me since I was a child…. Patient and friendly - they’ve helped me navigate glasses, frames (as a young girl who was struggling to accept the need to wear glasses in the 90s), a transition to contacts, ICL as an adult to mitigate my need for lenses of any sort, and (as happens with age) my transition back to glasses for select needs. I’m happy to say that the team there now cares for my daughters and their vision. And, while some of the staff have moved on, those still there and those new to the office are all wonderful with my kids and I - patiently explaining and teaching us as each time we go.

A very professional office. All staff maintain a kind, helpful and calm atmosphere. I took my parents in for an eye health exam as well as vision exam. Each of my parents are of an advanced age and one has Dementia, the other has Alzheimer’s. These appointments could be beyond difficult and possibly end in disaster. Dr Murata took so much extra time with them both. He went slow enough to get good results from them, kindly repeated over and over until he felt they understood and retained test results and recommendations. As a caregiver, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I highly recommend Dr Murata and his office.

I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid. It was my first time in their new office/store this last time I went. It’s amazing! It looks small from the outside but it’s huge and gorgeous once you walk in and to the back where all the rooms are. Good quality machines, top of the line most likely. They are being very careful and clean and have a good system especially with covid right now. They never disappoint, so much so, I moved away to Santa Clarita and I still make the drive once a year to them!

Everyone I have recommended says they feel they got a better quality of testing then their previous eye care faciality. and the doctors and staff are always super nice and helpful. My glasses broke on Saturday night and I dont have a backup pair. I couldnt find any places open Sunday, so I called Monday morning and explained my situation. They snuck me in before lunch, but the exam wasnt rushed. They were, however, efficient.Everyone was very friendly and professional. I havent picked up my glasses yet, but because I said I wanted contacts as well, I settled in on contacts for driving and putting on reading classes for close up. Im thankful for the temporary fix. It is hard to function without glasses. I am very satisfied with how things worked out.

During times of Covid, businesses have to be careful of how customers enter their place of business. Dr Muratas office is a perfect example of taking safety precautions from the time you walk in, to getting serviced, to saying good bye. Professional and clean. The staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My encounter with Ashley was fantastic with a Bubbly demeanor. My eye exam with the doctor was another pleasure of professionalism yet a personal and friendly demeanor. The office had moved within the strip mall and now is brighter and very nicely set up. I felt this to be more like a family then a eye doctor office. Everyone deserves a congratulations for making my visit feel like home. Today was a bad experience there, I dont care to conduct the business with the receptionist from across the room. Leaving my expensive Ophthalmologist who insisted I get LASIK on my one good eye (risking complete blindness if it failed) to Murata’s Optometry was the best move I’ve made medically. Dr. Karyln Murata was very nice and my visit was pleasant. However, the eye exam she did for me was wrong and because of that, my lenses were off and I have been unable to use my glasses. I had to move to another state due to the pandemic; and, when I called the office once I returned to the state to get help, Debbie the receptionist told me there was nothing they could do. I only wanted to get my lenses replaced and I thought that this office and Drs would stand by their work product, but I guess I was wrong! Debbie told me they could remove the lenses, which was laughable, since what good is a pair of empty frames???! I will not be returning to an office that doesnt do the right thing by the customer and this office did very poorly in that regard. After speaking with my Insurance, I am filing a claim against this office for my last visit and eyewear.

I love the doctors at this office, but sad to say I wont be returning to this office because one office staff member (Kathy, the Office Manager) treated us like we dont matter, so I will take my business elsewhere. I dont need to be lectured and talked down to. Besides this, Dr. Muratas office charges too much for the add-ons (anti-glare, anti-reflective, anti-scratch coatings) that Costco Vision Center includes for about half the price. At Muratas, even after insurance, I cant walk out of there without paying a couple hundred dollars for a decent pair of glasses. Got plenty of good recommendations from friends of other excellent eye doctors in our area, who Im sure treat their long-time patients with respect and value them too.

If I was asked by someone if I knew of a good Optometrist I would Immediately say Dr. Murata. The entire Staff are pleasant and you can tell right away that they enjoy working there. There was no hesitation in the entire process from the time I walked in to the time I was completely done with my eye exam, selected my frames and was out the door. It also did not stop there. I was kept informed with followups on the status of my new glasses, which was much faster than I had anticipated. In the past at a different Optometrist it was usually a minimum of 3 weeks before I had my new glasses and wearing them. I am more than satisfied, the overall experience was very efficient.I had an Optometrist I had been going to for the past 25 years and for personal reasons I decided to change and try a new one, am I glad I did. This will be the Only Optometrist I will be going to from now on. Everyone was very nice and the facility is very clean, but I was there for almost 2 hours just for a routine eye exam. They need to schedule their appointments better, the wait was too long.

This has been the worst experience of my life getting glasses from this company. It’s been 6 weeks since I had my eyes examined and I still don’t have my glasses. They were cut wrong twice and when I tried them on, the frames were so stiff they barely opened or closed. I paid over $300 for glasses, with insurance, that seem cheap and I can’t even see out of them or pick them up. The optician just keeps making excuses saying this is how long it takes.

Eleven months after I got my last pair of glasses, the frame broke. I brought them back in and they glued them temporarily as best as they could, and ordered a replacement frame under the warranty. The new frame came in less then a week later and they transferred the lens to the new frame. No cost, no problems,
