What a fantastic experience we had with Mike Regan (MR DJ Event Services) and Heather for our daughters wedding in Oct 2023! They were incredible in every facet of providing their services.Before the wedding he offered really helpful tips on giving a toast - it was clear from those suggestions that hed been around the block a few times. My wife and I followed his guidance closely and were very happy with how our toasts went - and so were the guests because we didnt carry on too long thanks to Mike!He put detailed thought into the music for the entire day, from the wedding, to cocktails, and through the reception. He was very in tune (no pun intended) with creating a mood for all phases of the day, which was exactly what our kids were interested in as well. They really loved his focus on that and were really excited that he was on the same page with them in that regard. That attention to detail proved to be a great success for the entire occasion. Once the dancing got started all of the guests were up and dancing the entire time! Theyve all been raving since the wedding about how much fun they had.While the planning and execution of the music was flawless, what I was most impressed by was Mikes and Heather’s skill at orchestrating the day without making themselves the focus of it. Weve attending weddings where that does not go so well with the DJ and its dreadful. Mike is expert at this, truly. They managed the day perfectly by staying on schedule, encouraging guest participation in just the right way while staying out of the limelight and keeping that on our kids on their day. We couldnt have asked for a better experience.While Mike handled all things music, his wife Heather was our coordinator, and she deserves as much (if not more) credit for the incredible execution of a fantastic wedding. She was more organized than I could imagine someone being - before and during the wedding! You cant go wrong with this team. Trust me moms and dads - you wont regret having Heather and Mike plan and execute your kids wedding. This was our first of 4 kids to be married and if any of the other 3 gets married in CA, well be calling Mike and Heather again without hesitation.

I don’t even know how to put into words how wonderful our experience was, working with Mike. He’s more than a DJ or an MC. His communication and thoughtfulness in taking into consideration our wedding hopes and dreams was just so impressive. He heard our needs and preferences and read us well enough to fill in any of the blanks with music that he knew we would love. There were so many transitions within the wedding and each one was so seamless - he can read the room and adjust accordingly to keep spirits high (and still made sure to pop over and ask for permission to tweak the musical timeline when it needed tweaking). The amount of compliments I received during and since the wedding on the music alone is wild. The dance floor was full from the moment guests were welcomed onto it and there was a resounding “noooo” when the last song was announced which is everything I hoped for! He had everyone singing along to his song choices in unison from their dinner tables before dancing even began. He also gave such great toasting advice, which I know helped both us and the other toasters. His Photo Booth and his team members who operated it were also such a hit. I don’t even want to imagine what our day would have been like without Mr. DJ! Our day truly was the best day ever - and the music really made us feel like we were in a movie! If you’re on the fence, I really can’t recommend choosing Mr. DJ for your event more!

Mr. DJ Event Services took our wedding to a whole new level! From the ceremony to the end of reception everything went off without a hitch. I cannot tell you how many complements we received on how much fun our wedding day was from our guests! Mike really takes care and makes sure during your pre-planning meetings to tailor your wedding to you and your spouse. I would highly recommend his service if you are getting married or having a large event.

Hands down best DJ you could ask for. From the start he made sure we both were a good fit for each other. He listened to all our wishes and then was able to pivot during the wedding and adjust to what we wanted or the guests were dancing to. Can’t recommend him enough.He even did a custom light up of our names that matched our wedding invitation!

It felt like he was one of our guests, just with a really cool playlist and the ability to make everyone dance!Their online portal is a dream. Heres how you start any conversation about Mike and Heather. They are amazing. It could end there but theres so much more. We are GRATEFUL and BLESSED that we had MR DJ Event Services facilitate our wedding. We did the full DJ service as well as a photo booth...and it was beyond our expectations (in a good way).Mike connects with the bride & groom at a very personal level...which allows him to curate a spectacular arrangement of music that fits the need of everyone at the wedding. The music was absolutely fantastic. He also sets the baseline of the day with a superbly managed ceremony, with superb sound. In essence, he takes care of the whole day and keeps everything on track and keeps everyone happy.I cant even imagine our wedding without these services.Heather helped us with everything including the photo booth...which was a HUGE HIT with the guests. Worth every penny. We had over 300 pictures taken. So much fun with all the props.I will end with this. If MR DJ Event Services (Mike & Heather) are available on your date...do it. WOW!!!!!!!! I don’t even have words, I am still getting compliments on my wedding and how it was one of the funnest weddings people have been to, and I have to give most of that credit to Mike. He was phenomenal!! From the moment we first zoomed him, we knew he was the perfect fit, he makes the entire process easy, seamless, and best of all, fun! Not once did it feel awkward or confusing, or business like, he did a great job at making us feel excited, comfortable, and really figure out what we wanted music wise. And come wedding day, he truly made my wedding one to remember. He’s a super dude, and a phenomenal DJ. Booking Mr DJ Event Services was a fantastic choice when it came to our wedding! From guiding us through our Music selection, to coming up with the timeline for the ceremony and the whole night itself--Mike was a tremendous help for our wedding beyond being just our DJ and emcee and was able to lend his years of experience to answer all the questions we had. We got married on Halloween 2021 but wanted a really elegant Hallowedding - beyond his role as our DJ, we had Mike uplight our Venue, set up a Neon Sign we had bought for a Photo-op station, as well as work with our venue about allowing us to use a fog machine he controlled - it was all so worth it. The lighting turned out SO GOOD. Our Reception looked incredible, and the night was perfect, no small part thanks to the awesome work Mike did. Mike and Heather are easy to work with, good communicators, and fun to talk to! They know what theyre doing, and if I ever have to host another big event Id definitely look up Mr DJ Event Services again!

Mike was an incredible DJ and MC for our May 2022 wedding in San Anselmo. It was a ton of fun working with him to select music for the reception - he made us feel relaxed and he definitely got our style. On the day of the wedding, Mike was incredible. I noticed him circulating in the crowd during cocktail hour, gauging whether the vibe needed to be picked up or tuned down. He made us feel extremely comfortable with suggestions for speech order and how to transition into a first dance. And, the dance party was amazing. Im recommending Mike to everyone I know!!

He not only guided us on what worked and what didnt, he also gave us a clear understanding of what the (music) timeline would entail. His wife, Heather, was always quick to respond to emails. They were wonderful at giving us a sense of calm during a chaotic time.The wedding couldnt have gone any better. My fiance and I were one of the many lucky couples who had to change their wedding plans during 2020 due to the pandemic. I use the word lucky because although it was a trying experience to have to essentially plan 2 weddings, downsize our guestlist by more than half, and find a new venue and vendors, what we ended up with turned out to be the wedding of our dreams. We reached out to several DJs --half of them coming in way overpriced for what we needed, and the other half just coming on a little too strong with their excessive follow-ups via email, phone, and text after having submitted an inquiry for their services. Enter Mr. DJ Event Services. What a breath of fresh air! We scheduled a little zoom meeting with Mike and instantly fell in love with him. He has a way of making you feel like youve known him forever, like hes the fun uncle in your family who you actually look forward to seeing! I dont think people realize how important your wedding day MC is and how much you really rely on them to keep your guests organized, moving, and having fun. At least I didnt fully recognize the importance of this role until the day of our wedding. If it wasnt enough that we hit it off with Mike instantly, it just so happened that his wife, Heather, happened to be a wedding coordinator, which is a service we were still in the market for. We scheduled a phone call with Heather, absolutely loved her, booked her, and that was that!As if planning a new wedding wasnt enough, when we booked our Tahoe venue for late May of 2021, we had no idea our plans would take another turn when the beautiful, sunny, summer weather we were expecting, turned into several inches of snow. We scrapped the outdoor ceremony plans we had previously worked so hard to plan out, and at the last minute, Mike and Heather were helping us reimagine where our ceremony site would take place, and how it all would flow with our now limited indoor space. Spoiler alert...It all went beautifully, and we have the both of them to thank for that!Mike and Heather were our anchors on our wedding day, and completely put us at ease, kept us sane, and most importantly, helped us pull off such a wonderfully special day with our intimate group of 45. From showing up together during the rehearsal to map out the venue and figure out logistics, to keeping our rowdy wedding party focused and on their toes, to being the very first vendors to show up on the day of the wedding with a lets do this! attitude, I just cant praise them enough.Mike and Heather complement one another so perfectly. The combination of Mikes high energy and presence with Heathers soft-spoken, focused, and fun-loving demeanor, was exactly what we needed! Heather kept all of our wedding party on track, helped me stay present and calm, and brought my ceremony and reception decor and visions to life. In the weeks leading up to our wedding, I would receive calls and texts from Heather who was checking in with me about little details she wanted to discuss and iron out. Little things I wouldnt have thought about myself, and I truly appreciated that. On the day of the wedding, Heather flawlessly set up all of the little decor items and details we had worked so hard to perfect, and seeing everything I had envisioned come to life was so amazing.Mike absolutely killed it when it came to the music. My favorite part of the day was when he went full-on party mode with the music during dinner, which sparked a spontaneous dance party, and helped set the mood for the rest of the evening. Mike played each and every nostalgic song that I knew my dad would have requested had he had the chance, and I caught myself looking over at Mike throughout the night just to give him a little nod when all of those very important songs I had spent hours compiling had caught someones attention.If the way we felt about Mike and Heather from the beginning was any indication of how our wedding day would go, we would have booked them even sooner! I could go on for days about my love for these two!

HIRE MIKE!!!!Mike went above and beyond what was asked of him on our wedding day, and we are so truly grateful for that. If I could change just one thing, its not having Heather there as our coordinator.Our one goal of the day (besides getting married) was to have the most fun wedding ever. We just had the fortunate experience of having Mike and Heather as our DJ and wedding coordinator at our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding and wow! they were exceptional in all respects. Our daughter hired Heather as a gift to us so we would be able to relax and enjoy every moment of their wedding and she did not disappoint! I was skeptical of her necessity, but I was wrong. Heather was quiet, assertive, organized, patient and extremely professional. She and Mike worked together as a team, virtually invisible to us or our guests and kept the wedding flowing seamlessly over three different areas of the venue. They are an amazing duo. Extremely transparent, thoughtful and thorough leading up to the big day. His DJ colleague Ivan and Wife and partner Heather were amazing the day of. Mike is the best! We have seen him on several other occasions and I could not wait to use him for my own wedding. He thinks of everything and makes the process so easy. Also helps take the stress out of the wedding process. I cant tell you how many people at my wedding said how great the music was. We can’t recommend Mike (Mr.DJ) enough as your wedding DJ. Upon our first discussions with him we immediately knew he was the best fit for us. We spent time discussing our story and our mutual interests in electronic music with him, which made the process feel like a collaboration for us. Our expectation for a DJ was very high due to us listening to countless DJ play in festivals. His skills on the decks were just perfect for what we wanted. He really knows how to maintain the proper energy with the music you select at each stage of the wedding. Of course, he crushed it when the dancing started as he progressed from top 40 hits to our favorite electronics hits seamlessly to end the night on a high note.While the DJ skills were amazing the real gem of Mike is his knowledge of weddings and his role as the MC. Since we hosted our wedding in our backyard we had a lot of unknowns on how the day would go. He helped us craft a timeline to start and did an impressive job keeping us on track. His collaboration with our other vendors really helped fill any gaps in our needs. You can not do any better then Mr. DJ for your wedding in Northern CA.

From coordinating effortlessly with our wedding planner and string quartet during the ceremony, to keeping the party going all night long at the reception - it was for sure a memorable night for all! The dance floor was packed all night and we had so many people tell us that they thought the music was amazing. From the first email to inquire on services, Mike and team were incredibly responsive, transparent, professional and fun. I always felt we were being taken care of and in good hands, eliminating a TON of stress from the overall wedding planning process. Mike was able to curate a super special wedding ceremony plan (from timing, to the playlist, to advice based on his experience). He was flawless in his MCing for the happy hour and reception, cake cutting and dancing. He really set the tone for our wedding, and I would give him 10 stars if I could. DJ Mike was our DJ/emcee at our wedding in May 2022 and we were extremely happy we hired him. He is the best DJ that either of us have seen at a wedding and we highly recommend him.The process started off with multiple meetings with Mike where we went over how we were hoping our ceremony would go. There was great collaboration where Mike had tons of great ideas about making sure everything went smoothly. Mike had an online portal where we were able to add in all the songs we either wanted to be sure to play or sure not to play which was great. Mike worked with our wedding party to get entrance songs settled and gave those giving speeches pointers on what to do. He was so easy to work with and had so much confidence that we knew we were in good hands.The day of the wedding went amazing as well. All our guests who interacted with Mike mentioned how kind and helpful he was. He gave pointers to those who were giving speeches on how things will go and how to use the microphones. The sound equipment that Mike brought was incredible as well. We have never heard such clear talking come out of a sound system before; we really appreciate that from the ceremony to the toasts, everyone was able to clearly hear what was being said. The music on the dance floor was also just perfect.As the day went on, Mikes ability continued to shine through. He was an excellent master of ceremonies! Every transition was incredible even for short songs like the wedding party introduction songs. You never realize how important song transitions can be until you hear a bad one,and all of the song transitions were seamless. He also has the ability that only world class DJs have of being able to bring and keep everyone entertained on the dance floor. We noticed that every time it looked like there was a bit of a lull, Mike pulled up the perfect next song to get the party moving again.If we ever need a DJ/emcee in the future, we will most definitely be going back to DJ Mike, and we will continue to tell everyone we know about how amazing he is. We were so incredibly impressed with everything.

Mike Regan 5 stars all the way!!! He was the DJ for our wedding back in 2005 and so many people told me they had the best time dancing and the dance floor moved 4 feet off its usual spot because so many people danced. He set the tone with professionalism and fun!Last weekend, he did sound for my sweet fathers celebration of life service and helped to MC and keep the service moving.We really enjoy Mike and him and his team are amazing!

Mike (MR DJ) performed at our relaxed, backyard wedding in October 2021. He was an amazing choice - we couldnt be happier with the great job he did! We arent the most traditional couple, and so had a very small, informal ceremony before throwing a big reception/party afterwards in my childhood backyard. He went with the flow easily, and placed my music suggestions easily for the cocktail hour(s). Once it came time to dance, Mike had full reign, and he did an awesome job of reading the crowd and making a great blend of old and new. If youre looking for a professional who can do a fantastic job with basically no guidance (who doesnt want that on their wedding day?), pick MR DJ! Everyone raved, and it will definitely forever be one of the highlights of the day.

Not only did our DJ read the room for music, but he was the master of ceremonies and made everything flow seamlessly. Mike was professional, very communicative, and did an excellent job reflecting our style and preferences in the song choices and facilitation style that he used for our wedding. I would strongly recommend Mr. DJ to those in need of an emcee / DJ for weddings or similar events in the future.Specifically, there were two things about working with Mike that clearly set him apart from other DJs:1) We always felt like Mike was intently listening to us and trying hard to understand what we wanted. This was clear in even our first intro conversation with Mike, when he spent half the call just asking about our story and learning about who we are as a couple. He then spent the second half of that call creating a script and song for our first intro as a married couple, which we actually used during our wedding.2) Mike used his extensive experience as an event facilitator to help us understand and think through the parts of designing an event that are very important but are easily overlooked (e.g., music volume, energy of songs played during dinner, etc.). Mike was a real comfort from the start. Right away, I could tell I could trust him with our vision but my husband wanted us to do our “due diligence” and vet a couple of other DJs who were significantly cheaper. I did not want to after meeting Mike, but I obliged. 5 minutes into our second virtual meeting with a different DJ, I knew my husband was sold on Mike. With Mike, it was very clear our day was going to be about us, and not his own need for attention, control, or spotlight.Mike listened, asked questions, and truly helped us figure out odds and ends to our wedding day that we did not even know we needed to do. Most importantly, he took the time. His planning meetings were detailed, caring, focused, and I never felt like I was his 300th wedding, but his first. I had a truly phenomenal experience with Mike & his team. I was thrown into planning our Q1 Board of Directors meeting after both of my managers just left. Needless to say, I was scrambling to put together the pieces of what we had done in years past. I was connected to Mike from our dinner venue and quickly realized Mike knew and remembered our events perfectly from the previous years. It is always impressive to have people (who Im sure work hundreds of events just like ours) remember ours so well. From recognizing our CEO to remembering our chatty crowd, Mike remembered every detail of our event which allowed him to execute perfectly (and make me look great!). He wasnt afraid to recommend things to make our AV package really stand out (up-lighting, speaker system, spotlighting, TV screens, etc.) at a reasonable cost. He listened to what I needed to accomplish and recommend just the right amount to get it done. When I arrived in Sacramento for our event, Mike went to all the venue walkthroughs with us so that he could make sure we were on the same page. Finally, day-of event and Mike was 100% on! We had a slightly complicated set-up and he brought his A-team to get everything set up efficiently. Everything ran smoothly from there. You could tell he really cared about understanding our story so he could help guide us in the kind of wedding we wanted. I guess you could say we werent a very traditional couple, in the sense we had no idea what kind of dance music we wanted, we only knew what kind of music we wanted during cocktail and dinner hour, so Mike helped us find music that fit us but also helped keep the energy and fun in our party. He was so accommodating to our requests; we had a family member play acoustic guitar as the bride walked down the aisle, and he helped coach her up and feel at home next to him, and not worry about the crowd! I mean if thats not personal service, I dont know what is! He kept great timing of the entire event, checking in with us (bride and groom) every step of the way during the wedding, and played fantastic music that the guests raved about. Mr. DJ Mike Ryan created a party that was off the hook! When planning, we were looking for someone who could direct the party flow and then get our guests up dancing. It was perfect. We created a timeline, but everyone was having such a good time mingling that we delayed dinner a bit. Mike read the crowd well and extended cocktail hour. After dinner and before dancing, he directed a hilarious game that got us all interacting. Dancing started with Zumba instructors that filled the floor in minutes, then Mike took it from there and the dance floor was full the entire rest of the evening. He also brought in special lighting - not cheap but totally worth it to turn a huge banquet room at Thunder Valley into an atmosphere far more special. First off, this review is embarrassingly overdue. But for everyone out there researching Mike and the whole Mr. DJ experience for your event, this bride right here is telling you book now, lock it in, and thank me later.I planned my wedding from across the country in New York, and Mr. DJ was the first vendor decision I made. It wasnt so much the reviews that swayed me -- but they did help! (thats why Im here doing my part) I was more impressed by the quick email response to my initial inquiry, followed by a few phone chats with Mike that were way more fun (and way less awkward) than that sort of thing is supposed to be.Now, I only worked with Mike, the owner of the company, so thats all I can speak to in terms of our experience. Right off the bat, there was an issue with our deposit check not making it to California, but Mike was gracious and understanding and never pressed the issue at all.Since we werent in town much for regular planning meetings, Mike was available to us via email, phone and Skype at our request. We had some great talks about music and what we were going for. I wanted bouncy, Django Reinhardt music at dinner (for reasons that all made sense at the time), and my husband is off-the-boat Irish, so he had some traditional music that he really wanted to include. Mike wasnt phased by any of it. His website made it easy for us to create and edit our music lists, and he found and played just about everything we requested.When he made the first of his two site visits to the venue, he offered up a number of options for lighting the property in addition to his DJ services. We thankfully took him up on that and ended up with incredible lighting that didnt look one bit like a cheeseball prom (an initial concern of mine). It truly set the stage for an unforgettable night.Mike was also a great resource for me as a bride. He knew I was a little non-traditional and offered up some great alternatives when we said wed rather not do a garter or bouquet toss. More than once, he had to talk me out of an idea he knew just wouldnt work. But he always had another option or at least a really solid reason behind it. That sort of guidance is invaluable for a bride, so you can keep focused on the bigger picture rather than drowning in little details that will never come together the way you hope they will.On the big day itself, Mike was there bright and early to set up. I never saw him without a smile, and that goes for pretty much every time Ive ever seen him. Beyond flawlessly pulling off the (outdoor) ceremony and cocktail hour, Mike and his assistant worked with my planner and caterer, and kept everything flowing right on time.It must also be noted that in the category of above and beyond, Mike totally wins. My husband (who insisted I mention this) said that Mike was regularly checking on him, letting him know what was coming next, and even straightening his tie and suit to make sure he looked presentable for any candid photos he was caught in. Mike was also one of the very first people there to set up in the morning, and one of the last to leave, after making sure all of his responsibilities were taken care of.From start to finish, Mike and Mr. DJ delivered. Cant say enough good things about the Mike, Heather and Victor combination! I am NOT someone who has had my whole wedding planned since I was a little girl, so having to put everything together was, to say the least, intimidating. Mike and Heather graciously guided us through everything, and though Im sure they thought that I was incredibly disorganized and scatterbrained they were always upbeat, organized and encouraging. As for Victor the DJ, according to our venue owners: he was the first DJ weve had out here who didnt seem to like the sound of his own voice more than the sound of the music! I WISH I COULD GIVE HIM 2000 STARS!Mike Reagan was the MC/DJ for our wedding reception of 220 people on April 13, 2014 and we couldnt have chosen a better person for that night! To give you some background on our wedding, we had a very traditional Chinese Wedding that was infused with bits of our Broadway theme. I had attended a few events where MR DJ did the entertainment. I knew I wanted MR DJ at my daughters Fiesta Rosa. However, I talked to about four other companies as well. It’s been a week since my husband and I got married and we can not think of a single things that could have been done differently. We are still in a cloud from how wonderfully done and put together it was. Absolute magic! The details, the communication, the patience and every way she was involved felt so intentional. I helped coordinate a schools dance, and we were blown away with the excellent customer service as well as the high caliber of music selection and output! We had a playlist that was screened and put together by the student government and administration. However, Mr. DJ Event Services was able to enhance the experience with a few songs from the past, as well as blend in some current songs verses to keep the kids happy; all while adhering to the schools dance policy. Without a doubt, we would hire again, and recommend to anyone looking for an excellent time.... look no further - Mr. DJ will have everyone talking about the event for years to come!

Never a dull moment on the dance floor, it was packed ALL night long! As most of us know it would not be packed if it werent for an effective DJ... It all started when we were shopping for wedding vendors. Meet with several but none were as interested in OUR day as Mr. DJ/Mike Regan. He was able to visualize what we were looking for and jumped right in as to how we would accomplish this. Mike was extremely interactive and helped create an amazing evening with my unusual requests. There was no doubt that I wanted him as our DJ/MC after our initial consultation. My fiancé was not able to be present at the consultation but I was able to get him to the planning session, which with each song Mike played for us while creating the evening we loved his ideas more and more.... I had no clue what song to use for the father daughter dance, I knew I wanted one that wasnt frequently used though... Mike threw up a song that I had never heard before and my father started crying because he knew the song and it brought back great memories. Of course that made us all cry, since my dad never cries! That was a moment I will never forget and this is a gift for someone to be able to read people and touch them in such an emotional way. Needless to say, Mike can read crowds since as Ive mentioned above, kept the dance floor active and full the entire evening. ohhhhhhh and we also his company do up-lighting which completely changed the ambience, it was soooooo beautiful...and we used their photo/video booth, Im telling you our guests had such an amazing time, weve been told by many that is was by far the most fun, nicest and best wedding they have ever been to. They were super professional. They guided us through the process and made it a ton of fun. Day-of the DJ was basically able to double as an MC and keep our wedding running smoothly. We had an awesome time with them! Originally we had been thinking of trying to manage the music ourselves but we are so happy we sprung the extra for a professional. There were so many little details and segues that we hadnt considered and Mr DJ had us completely covered. Do your guests a favor and hire Mr DJ. Where do I start off, I never thought that a business could make you feel like your family, from joking, laughter drinking wine but still keeping it professional during video consults, to making us feel confident that our special day was going to be nothing less than perfect. My daughter’s wedding was at Newcastle Wedding Gardens. Heather Regan was our wedding coordinator. She helped to orchestrate the day. On the day of the wedding or onsite coordinator was Michelle Craven. She did so much for us! She decorated and helped with every aspect of the day. Lets start with the bottom line...Increased profits, increased guest count, increased quality of experience and Mike was the X factor. He will be hired for next years event.We are a non-profit organization and we host an annual fundraiser in the early spring. Although we have had some great success with this event over the last 15 years, we have been running a bit flat for the last few years due to many factors. Like everything else, our event suffered as a result of the recession. In addition to economic factors, competition had whittled down and diluted our event. We went from being a unique event and selling out every year to being 1 of the 20 identical events that took place in the same geography and month as ours. We got lost in the shuffle. Our audience decreased to nearly 50% of projections, the event experience did not leave the guest wanting more and we were flat out not memorable.Enter Mike. The instant we contracted with MR. DJ we received his comprehensive service. First he consulted us on how to modernize and fine tune our event based on his 20+ years of experience as an entertainer. He then helped us promote the event. Finally on the evening of our fundraiser, he made our event come alive like it never had before as both a master of ceremonies and as MR. DJ. There was an energy in the room that had never been there before from the moment the doors opened. He had the entire room singing in unison on more than one occasion, he had dance parties breaking out all over the place during dinner and he kept the dance floor full right up till closing time.Our guests and volunteers were buzzing for several weeks after. My husband and I just had our wedding at Catta Verdera this past Saturday September 26th,2015! We had the pleasure of working with Mike and Raymond.Rewind to about 9 months ago I began researching Djs in the Sacramento area on Yelp!My husband and I had an interview with another DJ company and right off the bat from the moment sitting down with the 2 Djs I knew it wasnt a fit and I ended up having to tell them that we would not be using them. Mike is a professional.-He held prep meetings with us before the ceremony to plan the wedding flow and make sure we didnt forget any key elements-He took initiative and worked with our venue site to stage the wedding-He came dressed professionally the day of (and looked quite dapper I must say)-He came prepared for unexpected transitions and delays (which did happen)-He staged the sound fantastically (the sound at both the ceremony and reception was clear, and the microphone he put on me worked perfectly)-And the crowd loved him!He understands his trade, is passionate about what he does, and brings with him the experience and high standards needed to meet and exceed your needs. I cannot stress enough how critical he was in managing our day, making us feel comfortable that things would be taken care of, and going way above and beyond by helping us put out a few fires (unexpected change in the ceremony location, and dealing with a tipped over cake to name a few).A wedding can sometimes be a bit of a war zone- full of chaos / unexpected events, confusion, and shifting priorities. Mike is the guy you want in your foxhole, the seasoned vet who has been there before, reads the situation, anticipates needs, and does what it takes to get you through the craziness with a smile on your face.As a final note: Your DJ should act as a conductor in an orchestra, an active facilitator- not a violin playing in the background. If you are planning your wedding and you are considering all the creative ways to stay within budget, please read this story. We had 14 months to plan our wedding, and we knew from the start that our number one goal was to make it fun and relaxed; but relatively simple; and reasonably priced. We figured that the three most important ingredients of a good wedding are 1. Good music; 2. Good food; and 3. Good alcohol. We considered all possibilities to save money; which usually means doing more work ourselves. From the start of planning we knew that music would play one of the most important roles in the success of our fun wedding; and the thought of hiring a DJ gave us the impression of your typical club, with club style mash-up music that was not our style, nor our desired outcome. An Ipod wedding; why not? We thought it would be a great way to save money on a DJ, and ensure that the music would be exactly what we want. So, we put a lot of time into preparing playlists for every stage of the wedding. We were very happy with what we came up with, and we fully intended on using an ipod to deliver it through the venue’s sound system; which was a great sound system for music throughout; but not so great for turning up the volume on the dance floor without blowing out the tables away from the dance floor where the older guests and worn out dancers could retreat to for respite. We thought the Ipod would work just fine as long as we put the careful thought into the timing. Late in the planning stages, we began to consider the very real question: What if through all our careful planning and thought, the music we choose and turn loose via Ipod doesn’t hit the mark and the dance floor is empty? What then? Will we have to fumble through the ipod to try something different? What guest can we assign to do this so we won’t need to worry about it? And then there were other questions: Who will keep the flow of the wedding moving? Who will release tables for the buffet so there won’t be a mad dash and long lines? Who will announce the first dance? The speeches? The cake? The last call at the bar? The last dance? What guests can we use to make these announcements? The answer: None. They are guests! We realized that we need to hire someone to do this – but who does that? A wedding coordinator? Do we need a wedding coordinator and a DJ? Cha-ching!We began to search the internet and read reviews on DJ services. Mike Regan of Mr. DJ came up many times with great reviews. We met with Mike and talked over our thoughts. He was very candid and made a lot of sense. He pointed out that any wedding can survive bad food; as long as there is food; and as long as people have a good time. Guests may laugh and joke about it later, but they will still remember having a good time. A wedding can survive many things: poor A/C; short bar hours; long speeches; cheesy centerpieces; even bad weather – as long as people have a good time. Wanna know who really controls how things flow on your actual wedding day? Thats right, the DJ. If you want some random drunk guy playing crappy music, not keeping the ceremony flowing, and wreaking havoc on an important day, then by all means, go with some other bargain basement DJ. But if you want someone that is super knowledgeable, friendly, professional and amazing prepared for everything, then book this guy. Hes obviously done this before, and worked with us before the day (over Skype, very convenient as well), to ensure all the details were hammered out. He also helped provide lighting for our event, and it was gorgeous. He also has a photo/video booth, which helped provide us with perfect little momentos from our family and friends. Heck, he even had a teeth flossers on hand so I could didnt greet guests with chicken and salad in my teeth! I was very happy with my experience with him, and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an awesome and professional DJ.
