Our experience with Lisa has been outstanding. We are making a cross country move to California soon and really wanted to find a good home that is right in every way for our 1 year old. It was practically impossible for us to show up in person for every home viewing and Lisa did a great job being our eyes and ears on the ground. She was a great communicator through the process, always responsive and available to answer our questions. She also provided invaluable guidance to us about neighborhoods and homes keeping in mind our needs. The Bay Area is massive and it is easy to feel overwhelmed with all the different neighborhoods. Lisa helped us strategize, filter down to the most appropriate ones, liaised with land lords on our behalf and helped us find our perfect home. We highly recommend Move Bay Area!

I highly recommend Move Bay Area and Lisa McCarrel both to locals and people relocating. I had lived in San Francisco during the early 2000s and had moved back a year ago. Even though I am familiar with the city and knew what neighborhoods interested me, I wanted help in finding just the right place. I decided to use her rental concierge service—if I’d just moved back, I would have used her one day home finder service, but since I had more time and was particular about neighborhood the concierge service seemed to be a better fit for me.I worked with Lisa directly. From the first phone call she was professional, knowledgeable and organized. Move Bay Area is a small business owned by Lisa herself, and I could tell she genuinely cared about helping me find the right place. I gave her a list of must haves and nice to haves—the nice to haves were really my wish list.Lisa’s system really helps her understand exactly what you are looking for. She sent me ten listings to rate on a scale of one to ten and asked me to also write the pros and cons for each listing. That way, she was able to understand in detail my preferences beyond my criteria.We found a beautiful place in my first choice neighborhood, Noe Valley. I love my new home—it has every single one of my must haves and nice to haves. The apartment is also below budget and a great value. Even if I could have found this place myself, I don’t know if I could have gotten it. The apartment was very desirable and had generated a lot of interest. However, Lisa had worked with the landlord’s broker previously, which made the process easier for me. Lisa told the broker I was going to apply right away, and actually sent my application from her phone as soon as we left. Lisa had guided me in putting my application together in advance and with her help my application was very strong, way better than anything I could have put together myself.Feel fortunate I found this service and happy to be in my new home.

The Neighborhood Tour with Lisa was so useful in our search for a home in SF. She listened to all our requests for the characteristics of the property we were looking for, as well as our preferred locations. We knew nothing of the city coming into the tour, and at the end of the day felt like we had a really good handle on what to expect. Our day was scheduled around the best fit for our needs. I was recommended Lisa by another realtor in the area when moving form DC and I couldn’t have picked a better option for moving. I had a very limited time window where I could tour apartments and Lisa was so accommodating and able to get me 11 listings in one day to look at on relatively short notice. Though my apartment hunting process was intense, Lisa was a great guide, showing me around the city in the process and actually helped me flesh out what is really important to me in an apartment. Our family worked with Lisa to relocate from the East Coast to San Francisco. Lisa did an outstanding job helping us find an apartment to rent. We first met by phone so Lisa could understand our goals, and then I traveled to San Francisco to go on apartment tours that Lisa organized for us. We toured a number of places that met our needs, but Lisa still encouraged us to continue to search until we found a place we were excited about. Lisa also helped us avoid some apartments we would have been unhappy with, as she was able to point out subtle problems that werent obvious from the tours. TL;DR - I cannot speak more highly of Move Bay Area, and in particular Nicole, who was helpful, supportive and professional throughout the whole process!We relocated to the Bay Area from Scotland, having only visited San Francisco once on holiday, so we were a bit lost with how to start looking for rentals. We were also bringing our labrador with us, so knew we needed to find somewhere that would allow dogs and in a nice dog friendly area. On contacting MBA, they immediately asked all the right questions to find out just what we were looking for, and the constant communication and attention to detail from Nicole meant she was able to select several excellent properties for us to tour. The best part was Nicole supporting us through the process - whether it was helping us ask the right questions at viewings, taking us on a tour of the different neighbourhoods, or coming with us to wait in the lines at the SSA and DMV! Monica was amazing; very thoughtful, thorough and knowledgeable. Ive been ramping up with my new job and also trying to find a new place on the other side of the country. I didnt have much time or energy to look into finding a new place, nor was I very familiar with the area.I have really bad dust allergies so finding a good place is also usually tough for me. Monica was attentive and curated an amazing list of places that were all hardwood with in-unit washer and dryer. She really went above and beyond to find a series of interesting and varied units despite the limitations.On the day of the tour, she was very flexible and accommodating. My parents accompanied me so I was worried about them getting tired during the tour. She drove us around to the various properties if they were far away and even wore a mask to help us feel comfortable.Monicas info on the area was also very helpful and helped us get up to speed on the various neighborhoods in the area. :) Ill be sure to check out the recommended places in the future!In the end I was able to find a really great unit with amazing views that work well with my allergies. I worked with Monica for my previous two moves, the first from South Bay to Oakland, and then from Oakland to the Peninsula.We started with an intro call, where Monica was super helpful in understanding my situation, what I am looking for, budget, etc. Then she provided a shared Google Doc listing various options in different neighborhoods, and useful facts/info about each option. The team at Move Bay Area really made my apartment hunting experience amazing. How often do you hear that apartment hunting in San Francisco is an amazing experience (probably not often, especially as a college student). I specifically worked with Monica, one of the members who work swiftly and professionally to find 11 apartments that were in my scope of interest and price. She had communicated with all of the apartment representatives and landlords to see various sites without any issues. My visits started early in the morning 8:00 and were finished by 2:00 in the evening. As I finished my deliberation I notified Monica of my decisions and she helped me negotiate all the logistics and paper signing up to the very end. I personally was stuck between 2 units and she made sure that I had both options available if one happened to fall through. I ended up finding a beautiful one bedroom apartment in the Lone Mountain area of San Francisco. Even after moving in Monica and the Move Bay Area team periodically checked-in and made sure that all was going well. This company has really made the daunting apartment hunting experience a very positive and enjoyable one. I scheduled calls with Lindy, Amy answered many of my questions, and Monica was my agent that coordinated all of my showings. I have to admit that I was skeptical at first about the prospect of using an agent. I have family in the area, and I thought we could do it on our own. But my husband thought we should try Move Bay Area out, and Im SO glad we did. The process was absolutely painless. In fact, it was fun, which is not something Ive ever said about apartment hunting before. Lisa really spent the time to get a sense of our priorities and what would work for us, and then showed us some great apartments. We saw a good mix of options in the neighborhoods we were targeting, and she took a couple of strategic swings on places in neighborhoods we didnt know as well--one of which we ended up deciding to go for. All the while, she was very respectful of our price range, and intent on getting us what we wanted, not imposing some view of what she thought we should want. She seems to have a really good eye for what was going to work, and her relationships with agents were very helpful as we navigated the process. He was very proactive in the process - giving me a lot of suggestions and tips on things to consider in finding a home. He even gave me some considerations which I never thought helpful but turns out that its my number one priority (safety in the neighborhood, proximity to basic needs and vibrant community). That was prior to the tripping. On the actual day of the tripping, hes giving me a lot of insights on the area and some history which I appreciate. Lisa and her team are fantastic. We relocated from out of state and had not really spent time in the Bay Area beyond the occasional vacation or business trip. We were unfamiliar with neighborhoods, with the realities of what a commute might look like, and with what might be a reasonable expectation based on our budget and a very fast-moving, competitive market.Lisa and her team made all of the potential pitfalls in this situation disappear. They helped us understand what to expect, helped us to have our paperwork and other supporting documentation in order in advance, and spent a fair bit of time understanding what we did and did not want before we embarked on a market tour. We could tell from the first place that we saw that they had listened and tailored our tour accordingly.The little touches they provided were also hugely valuable. Rather than just show us properties, Lisa and Susan took time to show us the neighborhoods so we could get a feel for the surrounding area. I have intended to write this review for some time now. With the combination of moving, traveling, and the holidays, there never seems to be time. Nevertheless, my experience with Move Bay Area was exceptional. I rely heavily on reviews, so I want to share this experience with anyone looking for relocation services.I’m a bay area native, spending most of my time living and working in the South Bay. I recently decided to make the leap and move to the city (SF). After a considerable amount of time reviewing and comparing listings (I had quite an elaborate spreadsheet going), I eventually caved and realized I needed help.I came across Move Bay Area when comparing rental broker / relocation services. Reviews were excellent so I reached out. Lisa contacted me almost immediately. We had a great conversation going over what I was looking for and what services her business provided. The conversation was easy as we walked through the what, why’s, and where’s regarding my decision to move. She will take care EVERYTHING and make the process as seamless as possible. Lisa was professional on the phone and carefully walked through my criteria in a new apartment - she had market insight and appropriately set expectations. 1 week prior to my scheduled tour she sent me TONS of listings (15+) and asked for my opinion - likes / dislikes which was super helpful in refining my preferences I didn’t even know I had. Then 3 days before the tour she sends more listings that are available to tour (these came from websites I didn’t even know existed, way beyond the normal craigslist listings I was seeing on my own). We continued to refine this list up until the day of my tour. She had friends who had just put places on the market that we got first look at and was working all the time to secure more and better listings that fit my criteria. I talked with several of her competitors who don’t go through this process and just show you the “best” listings on your day - AVOID THIS! Working with Lisa you can be 100% confident you are seeing the best available. We met Lisa and she drove us around (mask on of course) to 10+ properties. She helped me with my application docs and was helpful telling us which apartment needed an application ASAP (we put one in the night before) and which could wait on. She knew which listing agents were sketchy and which places to avoid. She helped with lease negotiation and I signed an amazing apartment after only 1 day in the city. Lisa also met my moving truck and ensured all of my belongings were in the appropriate room - based on her level of professionalism I was 100% sure that when she said everything was in order that I was covered. Lastly she went above and beyond and noticed that the mailbox was broken When the moving truck arrived and reached out on my behalf to the property manager to have it repaired before I arrived. We contacted Lisa McCarrel when we first moved to the Bay Area because were not sure whether to buy or rent a home. She suggested a rent or buy tour to help us make the comparison. We were living in Hong Kong but my husband had a job offer in San Francisco. Lisa and Monica at Move Bay Area saved our sanity! We were stuck in a small studio in SF during Shelter in Place and had idea how to find a new rental in this climate. Lisa patiently listened to our needs, made a plan of action with us and her team sent potential listings for us to review, we picked our favorites, then Lisa and Monica set up virtual tours over zoom and FaceTime, showed us the surrounding neighborhoods and streets so we could get a sense of what was nearby and gave us great advice in our zoom meetings. I had been living in a subpar apartment in the city for about a year, and was unsure whether it would be possible to find a new place and move in the middle of the pandemic. Finding an apartment in SF is not easy in any circumstances, but with the challenges given the current lockdown, I had no idea if it would be possible. I was also riding out the virus on the east coast, so that made things even more difficult. However, after an initial consultation with Lisa, I felt better about what the process would look like, decided to give it a try, and am really happy I did. Lisas knowledge of the market and dedication to your case are key to helping you find the right place to live. She helps you throughout the whole process: from preparing the right rental resume and documents needed to rent, pulling listings, scheduling zoom and Facetime tours, joining you on the tours to be able to ask the questions you may not think of, guiding you through the application process, and negotiating the lease. She listens to what you want and works with you throughout to continually revise your criteria as you go through the search and figure out exactly what you want. Since many landlords will only allow virtual tours these day, she will also drive around your top choice or two if you are not able to yourself and make sure it is like what it looks like online (virtual tours unfortunately dont include the surrounding neighborhood the way a normal tour would).
