At check in room not ready, we waited and Housekeeper went to mop floor with a dirty towel attached to mop handle. Theres no blow dryer, no iron, no luggage rack, no hooks in bathroom, not any toiletries and we had to ask for towels and washcloths. At check out, the clerk ran up to our empty room to go inspect before giving us our receipt. Never have I experienced that and we stay in hotels at least twice a month. Over priced for not the best Motel 6. Never again.

The rooms were nice I paid for two queen beds they put three people in a room with 2 full beds no room construction going on which they don’t tell you until you have paid and get to the office to check in crack heads up all night in and out slamming doors people hanging out in the parking lot not to mention it’s our last day and have to drive back to Vegas and the got construction going on every end of the hotel 6:30-7 am in the morning with no consideration for their guest you check out and the man in the front gives you the run around. the price I spent here for the major inconvenience they have gave us I will not be staying here again. No iron bored no iron no coffee have to walk to front to get it thank you for the stay but I will not be back!

This Motel 6 in La Mesa, Ca. Is the best one that I have stayed at! The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. They are really helpful and will do everything to assure that you have a wonderful stay at the Motel! This is a friendly, family owned business and they are the nicest people you would ever want to meet! Ive stayed there on numerous occasions and I have had really good experiences every time. The motel is currently being remodeled and Iast week I got to stay in one of the new rooms. They are fabulous and everything was brand new! But the rooms are still very inexpensive! I highly recommend this Motel. They definitely get ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me! ✔️ Them out when you need to stay at a motel, you will enjoy it! A Huge Shout Out To All Of The Staff At The Motel 6, La Mesa, CA. Horrible Experience with Front Desk and Customer Service. Our room wasnt cleaned while my two night stay. When asked, the front desk only said, we need to contact the housekeeper directly to ask to be cleaned. We asked for extra towels and she only gave us hand towels and said that was the best she can do. She seemed rather racists, as she was just completely rude from the beginning. I DO NOT recommend you stay and expect to be treated well.

We waited 15 minutes for someone to come in the lobby to help us, only to be told we had to come back in 30 minutes as we were too early (although our rooms were ready!). The rooms smelled horrible of cigarettes, AC barely blew, sheets had burn holes, toilet paper dispenser was ripped off wall and MIA, mold spots on wall...bare minimum all the way around. It was a place to lay our heads but definitely wont be staying again.

By far the cleanest, best smelling, sanitized motel 6 in California. Clean room, clean sheets, clean fridge and microwave. Cant ask for more. Even the doors are functional and the locks work, keeping people safe. This is my 4th stay this year and Ive been absolutely happy with the rooms. The staff is also very nice and serious about their job. If you are nice they are super nice too. 👍I rather spend 11 miles to sea world and stay here instead of the dirty downtown San Diego motel 6. Now that one is a different story.Parking is quite small. Come early to catch a good spot. They do require a $60 cash deposit (keeps people in check) and keeps the property clean and tidy. No complaints there. When you check out they will review the room and issue back the deposit no problems.Highly recommend it here in LA Mesa.Thank you!9/10

Stayed there two nights. The staff was professional, the room was clean, nothing was broken or damaged, no bugs, and Ill say that the room was clean again. Walking on the room floor barefoot all day, my feet were clean still. I would recommend this place, had a good experience.

Although it is an affordable price I was not happy with the service we received we only got room service once because I practically begged the housekeeper so we had overflowing trash, dirty restrooms no toilet paper which we had to ask everyday for some and dirty floors! The walls were very dirty and as soon as we open the Door it smelled like wet dog! We had to buy disinfectant spray and wipes and disinfect! There was also random people coming next door and knocking which made it feel not safe! Parking was not only limited but not enough room to park! I really hope they step it up on deep cleaning!

Affordable and slightly decent place to stay. Staff was nice but the area is a little sketchy. The parking lot is also super tiny and some of the spaces are tight. The rooms are fairly clean, except you can tell they never deep clean because some appliances are still dusty/dirty in general. I stayed here on two different occasions and while its not the worst place in the world Id only recommend if youre on a strict budget.

First the front desk person charged $60 for the room deposit, $40 for dog deposit and $50 early check in fee which she said the room deposit and dog deposit would be returned on check out. The next day she only returned $50 (not $60 for room deposit) to me andsaid dog deposit wasnt returnable. The total amount for less than 24 hours was $240 minus the $50 she gave back to me.

I live locally & due to having our house tented, i had to rent a room for a week for my 2 cats & i.I was concerned about being a girl & being alone, but my concern was for not i felt (& was) totally safe. Nobody even gave me a 2nd look. I have NOTHING bad to say about the Motel 6 on university ave.HIGHLIGHTS-Eva & her daughter were verysweet & accomidating.-the room was perfect for whati needed.-there was plenty of places to eat & a 711 a block away.-price wise getting a hotel room is expected to be pricy,the cost was no more than the other guys & i would definatly recommend this place to others.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as a Valentines getaway. We have made the mistake in the past of accidentally staying in scary rundown areas to save money. When we got to this motel we were happy to see that it looked safe. The front desk was professional and friendly. They checked us in and we went to our room (nonsmoking king size bed). It smelled recently cleaned but not overwhelming. It was quite spacious and had hardwood floors. The flat screen TV even had the guide available-which I dont usually see at hotels. It had a microwave and refrigerator which was great for our dinner leftovers. The room is by no means perfect and has typical signs of use. Nothing worn out just basic use. A couple things out of the ordinary were no shampoo for shower (although water pressure was good) and no real blanket on the bed just a sheet and coverlet. We decided we would rather turn on the heater (to make up for the lack of a blanket) and use our own travel shampoo as an easy solution rather than pay so much more to stay elsewhere. As a side note we asked the front desk when the parking lot filled up at night and if street parking was an option. He informed us that there are enough spaces for each room to have one...good to know as not all places in San Diego area plan this way. It was also located only a few minutes from the mall and about 15 minutes from an escape room we had booked.

The room was dirty, especially the floors. It seemed like it had not been cleaned in a while. However, it is more worrisome that we found a scorpion in the room and the staff seemed non-chalant about it. They could not accomodate us in another room. We did get a full refund but I am not planning to stay there or recommend it to others.

Very tight parking spaces, and a cozy little room, overall a good value stay especially when traveling with pets. My husband and I along with our two cats booked a 4 night stay due to a fumigation, and overall had a positive experience. The manager/owner was a very pleasant man to speak to, and assured us that if there were any problems, we can go to him. I highly recommend Wongs Golden Palace about 1/4 mile up the road for some really good Chinese food.

This was the most horrific hotel experience Ive ever had. My room smelled of pot and smoke. Floors were dirty. Pulled back the sheets to reveal a stained mattress pad - multiple stains. Showed photos to my friends and was told You need to get out of there. Ive stayed at other Motel 6s before and theyve been clean. This hotel was a nightmare.

So I had someone pay for my stay for two nights, the room was clean but no it wasn’t, there’s was trash on the floor, flies and they still had bar soap used from previous quest in the tub . I was with my two daughters and my daughter had brought her tablet and I accidentally left it there and called and stopped by to retrieve it and the front desk rep wasn’t helping me and kept saying they didn’t have it and I told them that how would you put a electronic back if it didn’t have a password, and what happens if your maid didn’t return it and it just kept being a hassle and it wasn’t Trying to help me find it at all so I definitely won’t be coming back there again. Staff were nice but the towels had peoples hair dangling off with stains that made them look dirty; its located off a main road so some nights can be noisy; parking was never an issue but the spots are tight (like everywhere else in the city); only one trash can in the entire room; fridge and microwave worked fine; located near tons of food places and freeways; and some other little nit-picky issues. Overall though, it wasnt a bad experience but definitely wasnt the best.

The Motel was very easy to locate. After calling Motel 6 regarding late check in I found Tom very helpful and pleasant while handling my call. He could not add another night stays for me until 5:00 that evening but when I called back he was able to fulfill my request on a bottom floor. The Motel 6 was very clean well kept up, parking area and office were clean, and outdoor fresh flowers. Nice dog area. Room was updated and pleasant. No loitering in the parking lot as Ive seen in other locations. Overall I found this Motel 6 a nice surprise and in a very nice location in the community. Happy I stayed and look forward t o coming back.

There is a Jack In The Box just across the street luckily. We picked this Motel 6 in La Mesa primarily because it was much less than staying in San Diego itself. We were quite pleased with the quality of the rooms; clean, quiet, comfortable, with not only a fridge and microwave, but also an ironing board. This was very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and I appreciated the ability to spruce up our nice clothes.The desk clerk was friendly and kind enough to offer to help carry our bags in when he noticed my husband uses a cane.This appears to be a working class neighborhood but we never felt unsafe here. Lots of restaurants nearby and an easy drive from San Diegos many neighborhoods.

There were dozens of fruit flies all over in the room when we checked in. Also, about 5 normal house flies. We asked for another room and the woman was very helpful at the registration switching it for us. However, the second room also had fruit flies, only about 8-10 though. So, since it was late and we were really tired, we decided to just swat them all and deal with it. I know San Diego area is expensive, but really, paying over $150 per night for a room with bugs in it? You got to do better.

We truly enjoyed our stay. Tom, our Manager, was very pleasant and helpful. We asked that our floors be damp mopped, and they were there right away to do it. The location was great! The food at Mystic Grill & Bakery was delicious! It is just 2 doors over. We would definitely stay there again.

Inexpensive motel, no frills no shampoo or conditioner beds are very hard and no blankets. Parking can be limited. Management is not sympathetic to customers with disabilities, will not guarantee ground floor rooms to people who can not climb stairs, even if requested, and a credit card number is given to guarantee room. If you need a ground floor room, make sure you get to motel by check-in time or soon after. Rooms do have refrigerators and microwaves which is nice. Rooms are clean, motel is quiet, okay for a quick stay, you pretty much get what you pay for at this motel.

During my second night in the motel Tim from Motel6 staff started banging on my door so aggressively at 2:30 am woke me up and woke everyone up, the worker accused me of hosting people in my room, i opened the door wide so he can see theres no one in there, but he started yelling and threatening me. I slammed the door and tried to go back to sleep. This is borderline harassment, I couldnt sleep that night. Spoke to the manager about it and he told me he received another complain about the same employee. Not sure how effective the management there but try to avoid this motel 6 if you can, there are plenty in the area.

The website says theres free continental breakfast. there was only coffee (not in the room, but in the office) . No shampoo, hair dryer or tissue box in the room. all furniture cheap looking and in poor taste. I stayed at motel 6 in la mesa. 6952 University Ave La Mesa, California, 91941. There was a clerk by the name of Tim, that was rude when I checked in. He was on his cell phone having a whole personal Conversation while a customer and myself waited to check in. However, checking out was horrid. I have never been so humiliated and embarrassed in my life! As I was checking out house keeping gave a signal to Tim that something was wrong in my room. I couldn’t figure out what it was until Tim went up the stairs, went in the room I stayed in, and yelled loudly “blood?!” and came out with two dirty soiled towels and walked them across the parking lot holding them out in disgust. Walked right passed me and other people waiting to check out, with the towels in hand, and walked in his office and yelled at me what is this?! I stated I started my menstrual cycle, and I had to clean up. He told me it was unacceptable and i damaged his towels and he was charging me $15 for “damaged” property. At this point I got upset and yelled at Tim and told him I started my period! It’s normal, he can just wash the towel. He began charging me for the “damaged” property. And yelled at me and told me I was no longer welcomed to stay at motel 6. At this point I was so embarrassed I walked away crying and humiliated. I have never been so embarrassed in my life!! What I went through was horrid. I left there crying and so embarrassed that he did this and in front of other people who were checking out.If I was not embarrassed enough this is embarrassing that I have to retell this situation for people to see. You have no idea how embarrassed I feel right now.

The front desk staff was great, however there was only soap in the bathroom--no shampoo, no conditioner, no lotion, all of which are provided at other motels with similar prices. I travel frequently for work, so I have a god comparison base as far as hotels, motels, air bnbs, and how individual places compare to others in their categories. In addition, there was no comforter, only two thin sheets to cover us, and the location is right on a busy street with lots of traffic. Fortunately, we were exhausted so it wasnt too difficult to sleep even though our room was next to the street. The bed was comfortable, but there were too many small inconveniences that added up.

The rooms and the property were clean and relatively well-maintained. The accommodations were less than average--no coffee maker in the room, no Kleenex. I think those are the minimum one should expect from a hotel. Also, the towels were small and worn.There was a microwave, refrigerator and hair dryer. The location is good and the noise was much less than I expected when I saw how close we were to the street.A cash deposit doesnt sit well with me. The hotel has my credit card on file and if theres damage, they can charge it to the card. It just seems unfriendly and suspicious of guests. The cash was returned to me on check-out, but Ive never encountered a hotel that requested such a deposit before and it didnt seem very welcoming.

Booked a non smoking room and was lectured at the front desk about not smoking in the room or else I would be fined $150 only to walk into the room and have it smell like pure cigarettes...Once we walked in the room had flies all around, we checked the bathroom and it could have been cleaned better, the bed didnt have a blanket just supper thin sheets so we had to go buy a blanket to keep us warm overnight. There were also only 3 pillows that had to be shared between two people, the dresser was missing a whole drawer and the others were staggered, and there was a window right outside of our room that was cracked and damaged that made me feel a bit unsafe.But my worst experience there was when the key to the room had stopped working midway through our stay. So I went to the front desk to resolve it but no one was there and we ended up waiting 15-20 minutes for someone to come help us. He told us that the keys loose connection sometimes so they had to re assign the key to our room. Not sure how much I believe that but thats what he told me.

Phone did not work, no communication on the sheet washing and towels policy change. Perhaps a card explaining that in each room would be awesome! All the irons were removed because people were stealing them according to the person checking us in. Not a inviting environment. We stayed here last year and had a phenomenal experience, and I had no concerns rebooking for this year, and did so 6 months in advance and it was a great disappointment! Unfortunately I don’t have the confidence to rebook fothis next year on the annual trip!

Idk if its the cleaner they use or the filters need to be replaced but some of them really make the rooms smell. I had to switch my room originally because I couldnt deal with the smell. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and, while not a five star hotel, it was clean enough, served a light continental breakfast and coffee. There were also basic coffee makers in the rooms. I had not stayed in two years and things changed a lot. They did offer an urn of coffee at 6 AM but I am an early riser so I had to walk over to the nearby 7 eleven for coffee. Micfridge combo adequate for reheat needs and milk storage. I had booked for one night and was supposed to stay an additional three nights but canceled. I did not see any bugs but certainly feared them and did not even walk around in socks although they had got rid of the carpet and installed clean ceramic tile. Sorry, cannot recommend anymore. I had to move to the Holiday InnvLa Mesa at triple the price and that was disappointing as well as costly. Finally, there was a great dearth of outlets and what were there were very hard for me to access.

Bathroom needs to be redone, it was moldy and gross. In the hallway was a broken window that looked like a gunshot through it. The bed was so uncomfortable, and pillows looked unwashed for quite a few years. I’m extremely unhappy with my stay and wished I stayed somewhere else. There was no place for me to put my laptop, and valuables while I was not in the room and locked them in my own bag because there was no safe. The shower head had great pressure but looked disgusting. A quick sit in vinegar and baking soda would easily clean it. While checking in I emailed the staff that I needed to check in earlier because of an event I had in the area. When I arrived at the window the front desk clerk rudely exclaimed thag check in was at 3:00. Did not let me explain or ask anything. So I turned away and went out and waited until 3:00. Over all my experience was awful, especially for the price I paid. I will never stay here again. And will never recommend this motel to any of my friends. I paid less in Las Vegas and had a better experience. This is a sad excuse for a motel 6.

The staff is very nosey and the manager is a bully. I was forced by the manager to let the maid into my room to clean, and it seems like all she did was make the bed and wipe the table. There is still dirt in all the corners of the bathroom. And the staff stands around in front of the office watching everybody come and go, and making visitors of the guests, and the guests themselves here very uncomfortable. The night clerk is rude, and pushy with his questioning of matters that are not his business. BEWARE IF YOU CHOOSE TO STAY HERE.

The room is always clean and the staff at this location is extremely friendly! My problem is COMFORT! The bed is probably the hardest thing Ive ever slept on. It feels like a wooden box with a sheet on it. Two days later and my body is still paying the price! Additionally, all that is in the room is a hard, plastic chair. Nothing of comfort is offered in the entire room. Ive had to stay in San Diego a couple of times each month, for the past six months and have only stayed at Motel 6 a few of those nights due solely to the lack of comfort. Other than that, the location is within two miles of where I needed to be close to and, as I said above, the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean.

Location was a bit off the I-8. Room was on the first floor and it was the largest room so far compared to other locations. Beds were nice and comfortable. No table though. If you have a laptop or you want to have a bite there is no table. Parking was a bit tight, but I guess there is no other way. The rooms need an upgrade. The furniture and other furnishings are showing their age, from the tissue thin sheets and lumpy pillows to the broken lampshades, not to mention the tiny threadbare towels and washcloth. Yes, we were only given one washcloth, although there were two people sharing the room. Maintenance is not great. There was a 2A battery in the sink drain, it was easily visible since the sink stopper was totally missing. The faucet in the bathtub was installed backwards--the cold side produced hot water and the hot side produced cold. The corners of the bath enclosure showed mold or rust--not sure which. The bottom sheet on the bed was incorrectly placed. On one side of the bed, the bottom sheet was so short that it could not be tucked under the mattress. I woke in the middle of the night with the bottom sheet wadded under my body, while on the other side, there was enough sheet that it touched the floor. I had to remake the bed for the second and third nights of our stay. The blanket on the bed wasnt a blanket (a slick bedspread?) and did a poor job of keeping us warm. We had the deluxe suite. Im glad we didnt have a regular room

Shorty after checking in... We noticed yelling and screaming.. It was the occupant right below us, I informed the night manager that this person was yelling and screaming.. The manager walked to the room and could hear the yelling several feet away.. Knocked on the door.. The occupant open the door and said he would try to keep it down and that he had nightmares... I returned to my room and went to dinner and came back to my room and my card would not open my door again but the yelling was back.. So I walk back to the managers office to get a new key and to report that the yelling and screaming has continued.. After making a new key.. I was told by the manager or clerk that there was nothing they could further due, there were no more rooms available, even though the parking didnt look full, I suggested maybe I should get my money back, but I wasnt able to find another room as it was now past midnight and into the following day, so from midnight to the next morning at 8am we heard constant yelling and screaming, kicking and pounding. No sleep for me or my guest. I personally think there were other rooms available but the staff choose not to offer. Therefore my rating is based solely on the manager / clerks ability to offer a suitable solution.

The water was shut off for a few hours, but came back on in the evening. In order to check out they have to go inspect the room before you are given your deposit back. The amazing person I’m seeing was kind enough to pay 200 a night for the worst room I’ve ever stayed in because all other wheelchair accessible rooms in the city had been booked and I’m an L2 paraplegic. They charge extra for the space I need to get around in my chair and have the audacity to call it a king suite. I have a more comfortable time sleeping in my truck bed. There was no actual blanket so I was shivering the whole night. The lighting was migraine inducing with no dim options so he covered the LED with his t shirts. Knobs were missing and the pillow the lumpiest pile of trash ive ever had. Even not paying this room made me irate. Do not stay here stay anywhere else.

We drove almost 6 hours from Arizona so we were exhausted when we got there Friday night. I went into the office and no one was at the front desk so I have to wait about 20 mins to check in. There was a lot of people just hanging out in the parking lot. The room was fairly clean but my kids and i ended up with bug bites all over our arms and legs. I called and told the office just as a heads up and the guy was rude and had a bad attitude. He told me it was a pet friendly hotel and the weekend I stayed almost everyone had a dog there. This motel has no laundromat. The price goes up with demand, so it gets expensive. It is clean. It is within walking distance of several fast food places. I think it is overpriced. Several months after my stay, I found my statement. While at the motel, I had requested an AARP discount. I was promised that my next statement would reflect that discount. Instead I was charged an extra 16.00 for just 2 nights. That raised the price to be equivalent to a nicer motel with a laundry and a pool. This place is just wrong. Never again will I use a Motel 6. When we asked about a later check-out, he was mad we asked. The A/C was extremely loud and irritating. That was all fine though.We went to get dinner at around 11p, and came back at 1am. When I complained that this was not disclosed on the web site, he said he was Independent Franchisee with right to make this rule. It was very last minute and close to or just past midnight when I arrived. I booked online which I did on the App. That worked out fine and the clerk had my reservation and my room was all set. Then the clerk asked for a refundable $60. cash deposit, which was no where listed on the App or the motels website. Young couples are selfish, dumb biotches.My 79 year old mother and I (45 years old) shared a room with two beds to attend a funeral service held across the street at the Legacy Funeral Home literally across the street on the next block. Legacy gave awesome, respectful, dignified service.Hotel check-in was quick and efficient off of my reservation. The room was clean. Bathroom was sanitary. Television channel lineup was decent considering the garbage the networks broadcast these days. A fridge and a microwave were available. Housekeeping was attentive. We enjoyed covered parking, and the location was convenient to most restaurants. We came from the San Fernando Valley, went to Bonita/Chula Vista on the following day, and back to SFV.The only reason they did not get a 5-star was because of the very thin bedspreads. If you travel, you probably carry your own blankets anyway. Otherwise, just turn on the heater. No big deal.We got what we wanted - a clean, comfortable place to close our eyes for the night at a fair market price, not a cheap room to trash with our bodily fluids.Young couples!... Jeez!

Very loud street noise and tenant noise. We took our dog here to avoid an inspection on our house today. We ended up leaving the motel to go back home. The inspectors will be less of a nightmare than this motel.

Relatively quiet away from freeway. We stayed 4 nights and had good night sleep. We liked saving money on the room and spending it on other things to enjoy our vacation.

The service was good and management was very pleasant, day and night. My only complaint would be that the floor turned the bottom of our feet black. The TV was messed up and I repaired the problem myself. All in all it was excellent for the price and the service was good.

I was there for some business trip, it was amazing place, with professional employees, also it was so clean, non-smoking place, with refrigerator, microwave and ice machine all available to use, and also free Wifi and free parking, such an incredible place to stay. I stayed 3 nights and they asked for 60$ for deposit, I tried to use my credit card and the guy said it’s better to use cash because it will take long time for the refund and I used cash, when I returned the key and I am in rush and he didn’t give me the deposit back, when I called and he said I need go back for the deposit and he has no other way to refund me the money, I am already a thousand miles away and definitely I can’t go back for the money, motel 6 should provide a way to refund, anyway be careful for the cash game.

The day Mgr Nick was great! Dont get rid of Nick! Try to check in with Nick 7am to 7pm, night guy Tim was nice. The other night guy when Tim is not there is NOT WELCOMING 🤔 otherwise Nick will take care of you promptly and efficiently! Parking is tight but regulated. Very conveniently located near a 7/11 Jack in the Box Wienerznitzel and local Taco shops😋 liqour store across the street... Busy intersection near property. I just want to say this place has been a lifesaver! I recently relocated back to San Diego. During transition I needed a place to stay.. My working interviews had me going all over San Diego..So I’ve been to many budget minded hotels for the past month or so.. This is, hands down, the best Motel 6 in San Diego. It’s safe, clean and smoke-free. The AC/heater work great and management keeps any riff-raf out. Traveling as a single woman I always felt comfortable here..Any super negative reviews must be from their competitors because they are such a great place to stay..

Great, but the TVs dont have HDMI plugins so I couldnt use my PS4, if thats relevant for anyone. A lot better than the El Cajon one imo, lots of channels and free wifi (ask for wifi code at the desk). As a warning, the paper with the code gets crumpled up, the text fades until its unreadable

Toilet clogged in one use, they refused to fix it. I had to pee in the shower the rest of the night/morning. They also refused to switch me rooms. I’m never using motel 6 again. Literally in disbelief at how unprofessionally this was handled.

Room was well equipped with a fridge, ironing board and iron, an armchair and storage. Small supermarket and few minutes walk away & cinema /shopping centre a 10 minute drive. Also handy for the trolley Park and Ride into the city centre, which we used when setting a baseball match. Staff at reception helpful and friendly, parking easy and free. A great first experience of Motel 6 & Id use them again in future. Thanks!

There were no bath towels and only one set of the smaller towels in the room. All the towels were stained - one even had a blood stain. Room wreaked of bleach smell when we entered so it was difficult to breathe in the room.
