Moss motors is great to order something, but make sure you get it right, because their after service is terrible. Talking to a phone rep, it’s obvious that they don’t care whether you’re a happy customer or not!! It’s not the kind of service that helped them originally build the business! And now, it’s good that there are alternatives!
The absolute worst customer service ever. Bought a $600.00 part that was damaged during shipping... contacted customer service to work the return of the part, was passed off to the Parts Department, who said to send pictures. Followed instructions sent pictures (via email) waited 3 days, still not sure of the status or if the pictures even got there sent a 2nd email, 4 days later received an email say the Tech Department would contact me soon. Waited another 2 weeks (3 weeks in total) still nothing, no phone call, email, carrier pigeon or smoke signal. Send a 3rd email requesting an update and still 4 weeks later nothing. Not even a peep.Buyer beware, once they have your money youll never hear from them again.
Just canceled an order which I paid for 2 day shipping on. Problem had occurred with my card (most likely entered the number wrong). Updated my payment status and got an email 3 days ago that all is good and the order was processing. 3 days later and item still hasnt shipped. Canceled order 5 minutes ago. Since it hasnt shipped this shouldnt be a problem. Just ordered the same part from Victoria British and the order is scheduled to ship tomorrow. Stay away until they figure it out in California. Terrible.
This company sucks no customer service, they are not interested in helping you they only want to sell their products, after months of going back and forth they couldnt even identify Whitworth hardware with a tap and die, (I sent as samples from an MG midget which is common as dirt)700 dollar order minimum for free shipping etc I could go on forever, every transaction/interaction leaves you dissapointed they have a strangle hold on the mg community aftermarket as a whole yet dissapoint us all. A monopoly and a manipulative company that wants to sells kits not help with individual parts or tech follow up when their product is wrong or fails
Their website didnt mention the item being out of stock when I ordered it. I tried being patient and waiting for the backorder for over a month. The first time I called they told me my shifter rebuild kit just needed one bushing to complete, and ship. The next time I called they had no information. Each time I called they told me they would be happy to cancel the order though, or pay $50 more for their other kit in stock. I ordered the kit from another website for $5 more and its already shipped. I wont be typing moss miata in my browser again.
Everyone has bad days right? I think I placed my order when Moss Motors was having a bad day. We had a tough start but they went out of their way to fix the issue. I respect the way this place runs their business and would definitely buy from here.
I placed an ordered for a set of pushrods for my 1974 MGB on Friday 26July2019 at approximately 9:50 AM PDT on Moss Motors website while speaking with a customer representative on the phone after verifying if I selected Next Day Air from the shipping options drop down, that I would receive my pushrods the next day on Saturday to my house near Seattle. I was assured that my parts would be delivered the next day.My parts were not delivered Saturday or Sunday. I received a shipping confirmation email from Moss late Sunday evening with a UPS tracking number indicating my parts would be arriving Monday the 29th at approximately 10:30 am.UPS delivers on Saturdays. So why were my parts delayed again? This is the third time in three years where I have paid for next day air shipping and have received parts 2 to 4 days late from CA instead of the expedited shipping I paid for.And according to a few British car Facebook groups and on-line forums. People paying for expedited shipping and getting their parts later than the service they paid for is frequent than you think.They are going to be receiving a phone call from me as soon as they open this morning.
Very disappointed. I have a part fail. Got a new one. I have to paid for both. The person handle the warranty is not very good to deal with. He takes very long time to respond or didnt respond to my email at all. I would not recommend anyone to go businesses with. If you do you will regret it.
They have no interest in customer satisfactionThey take their time, a lot of time to reply simple emails; they state on their website orders before 3 pm are shipped the same day… that’s never the case, most like 2 weeks; so take this into consideration when buying from them
Called simply to ask if I was able to pick up an order instead of waiting for shipping. Last website update regarding in-person pickup was from January 2021 so I think it’s a pretty fair question. The woman who answered the phone was sooo rude and short, I wasn’t ready for it!
These folks are hit or miss depending on what you need or buy. I’ve always had good experiences but my Miata club hasn’t always had that same sentiment.Bought a Gas Cap, fuel filter, lower radiator bracket and a few other impossible to source OEM parts for my 99 Miata. Shipped on time, the website is up to date, and they are professional about their work.
Getting sick and tired of paying $27 for shipping, and waiting 5-6 days for parts when there’s a store 4 mins away from my house!! Please re open your doors, or install some form of will call option. You must be one of the only stores on the high street still “closed” for covid, reducing overhead & increasing profit with disregard for your local clients. Also customer service was unbelievably short and rude.
Moss advertises, and I bought from them a carburetor kit for my 67 Austin-Healey that contained the wrong size air horns. Because they source and drop ship the carb kit from a third party, I had to obtain the name of the manufacturer from Moss and then deal directly with that third party to swap out and get the correct parts. I asked Moss to assist with the fix, but their service rep told me that there was nothing they could or would do to fix the faulty kit that I bought directly through them.

Bought from this website because it had free shipping. 2 days after I made the purchase, they shipped my items and charged me an extra $177 for shipping because there was a mistake on their website checkout page. They never gave me the opportunity to review the new price, just shipped it and billed me extra. Terrible ethics and I will never buy from this site again. I advise you look elsewhere if possible.
Never do business with this company. I placed an order 12/18/18, which showed the item was in stock. Received an email from Kelly on 12/20 that the item was out of stock, but would be in soon. I have since left 3 voice mails and sent 3 emails directly to Kelly. I have called the company and spoke with DJ & Doug and have yet to find out any updated status on my order.
One would think that answering a phone could result in an order. Of course one would have to answer their phones for that to happen. On hold for 10 min 46 sec. Then transferred and hung up. On hold 22 + min. Absolutely absurd!
Ive ordered a few parts here and there as Im restoring my tr6 but the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Everything I have ordered has been delivered on time if not early, so far I have nothing but great things to say. Ill be a repeat customer for a long time to come. Keep it up guys
They intentionally flag random order items as being backordered in order to charge double shipping when the item mysteriously appears in stock later. It seems they make a small profit on their shipping service. As this company has grown over time so has their insatiable greed.
I was ordering parts for my Jensen built Volvo P1800, and although they are not this marques specialty, lots of their stuff (hella H4s in this case) is interchangeable. With that said, they were very rude over the phone, and did their best to tell me I have no business ordering parts for a vowl- vvo from them. Rude, snobby, and elitist is how I describe Moss motors, and I gladly took my Volvo business elsewhere, and I recommend you do the same.
During my 16 months of interacting with Moss Motors, I encountered several attempts at manipulation, harrassment, and bullying by HR Director Rebecca, and false statements along with several accusations of impropriety said to me from supervisor Alex, as well as no response to many of my emails and phone calls.What could be the reason for the high turn over in personnell? Someone needs to take a good hard look at management.
Dont buy via website. Just purchased a $20 inner tube online, was charged $60! Apparently $40 in shipping for a $20 product is acceptable to this company. I feel ripped off!!
An excellent place to buy British car parts. There are more specialized places that have some better parts, but Moss has the best combination of wide product line and quality.
Weve been waiting a month for tech service to return are call back about installing a boot on our mgb. Nothing matches up. We were last told to be patient. Well weve waited long enough very disappointed.
I called and left a message, no return call, so I emailed them, no response, The MGA side curtains do not fit the factory mounts, I have bought parts from them over 30 years, they should not treat any customers this way.
I worked for Moss in 1980 running thier computers on the graveyard shift I only mentioned it because I really enjoyed working for them, then I moved back to Alaska.
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff who always know just how to help with your British car or Miata needs, even if it means directing you to a qualified local shop for your job.
I like the company and parts are ok ...but delivery and sending the part outtake way too long ...its like its coming from china or something when it is just 3 hours oway
I have ask for a catalog twice in the last few months, have not received one yet! Victoria sent me one in 2 weeks!

2024-02-14 20:04:2730+ years using Moss, 20 as a dealer buying for my classic car business and getting noticeably worse every time. Sent wrong parts, but I have to pay shipping to return? Though I can prove I own my home they refuse to ship my business purchases here forcing me to sit around an office I rarely go to for hours on end, no exceptions! None of my vendors across the globe require this! Good news is other suppliers are out there so this will be good for them! Hope they can return to the quality of service they used to have but until then Ill now keep Moss as the last option..

2018-01-25 01:16:17There was a time Moss Motors was a great vendor in the past. It has changed and gone bad to do any business with. I have been a customer for years and was able to get parts for my MG MGB British roadster. Recently 2018, their customer service and ordering of parts has become a real hassle. Common parts on sale are out of stock - back ordered with no idea when they will be available (couple of weeks}. They now have a parts catalogue of cheaply made parts and a lot of back order- out of stock. The shipping cost are very expensive too and slow to deliver. Most of the Moss phone customer service people are now uninformed and very very rude. I would not recommend anyone to do business with Moss Motors.

2024-01-11 00:59:55Spent roughly $250 for parts. They came but when I opened the box, not a single part was correct in my order. I called Moss up to ask about and they said to fill out the return forms and ship back everything. Except I have to pay for shipping to return their fuxk-up, who does that? Punish the customer for the sellers mistake.

2023-03-29 02:00:28I just ordered 2 foam seat cushions for my mga. I was ok with the price and most of the shipping cost but they said they need to add 10.00 each times 2 when I received the carton it was 10 by 18 by 18. I asked the ups driver if ups considers this an oversized carton. They said it is not. Also now that they purchased Victoria British their prices went sky high.

2023-05-15 16:43:41It’s great to order from a business with a customer service line if something goes wrong. A part was too big for the box, poked out during shipping and got bent. I called the customer service line and they promptly sent a replacement same day after seeing pictures.

2023-03-21 17:58:36Dismissive and off-putting phone experience.My 72 year old Father has been buying parts from Moss for decades. We even toured the warehouse before my wedding in Santa Barbara because it was that important to him. We phoned today to seek some guidance on a MG related but California specific question. We were told that they might be able to help and then abruptly we are a parts only company. So much for trying to reach out to another car enthused. The vehicle is mine now and I will NEVER purchase from Moss.
