Some of the best shoyu ramen that I have had across hundreds of ramen shops. Very distinct flavor, not too rich, not too salty. Loved the option to add extra hot spice which was perfect. Friend had the yuzu ramen and said it was delicious. Karaage is also good. Noodles were exceptional.

Quaint Japanese ramen shop serving flavorful options. Service was polite and attentive. Outdoor seating and nearby parking lot were available. There are lots of juice options that we didnt try. Prices are reasonable and the portions were medium-sized. The shishito peppers were delicious but might be too hot for those who dont enjoy spiciness. Recommended.

Stopped by on a Friday night to check out the Farmers Market and saw this place. My son loves Ramen, so we came to check it out. Great service and the Ramen was outstanding. The prices were great and nice feel to the place even the outdoor dining due to the pandemic. We have gone back 3 times already and I have tried a different dish each time. If your in the area or love Ramen give this small place a try.

We came to place take out order here today to answer the call by Monrovia Chamber of Commerce to save our restaurant. The chamber has a campaign going on in partnership with many restaurants in Monrovia. For this week, you’ll get $10 off for orders more than$30.With this deal, we didn’t want to miss it. Besides, we ‘re helping the local restaurants. We also wanted to try out this place anyway. This is our chance.When we were there, the chef is the only one there to take order and to cook the food. We ordered a shrimp udon and Vegetable Soba.Both dishes were delicious. I love their udon. The soup was unbelievably flavorful. The udon was soft yet chewy. My wife got the soba. We both are fans of soba. When we visited Japan, we would go to those street stalls to eat soba. The soba here is pretty close to the taste in Japan.There are plenty of parkings next to the restaurant. So come to support your local restaurants and get $10 off your order. Who doesn’t want a good deal?

This location is off to the side and its a small location. They have 2 sides one that focuses mainly on a sushi bar set up and you can watch the sushi be made. The other focuses on everything that is on the menu including sushi. It was my first time here and prices are affordable, wide selection of food, and staff was very friendly. I had the tonkotsu ramen and made it a combo with karage. Definitely enjoyed both dishes and the broth to the ramen was flavorful but not super heavy which I liked. As for the $5 ramen Im not sure what it was but feel free to ask them. Ill for sure be coming back to try the other dishes.

MoonCat ramen is divided in two parts. One side is the sushi/roll area, and the other is the ramen bar. You cannot order sushi at the ramen bar and vice versa so make sure you are in the correct place. I ordered miso ramen and my friend ordered tonkotsu. Both were delicious and came in big portions.We also ordered veggie gyoza which was crispy and not too oily. There are specialty drinks available at the store as well. I highly recommend this place if you want hearty comfort food!Service could use a little bit of work.

This place has potential. The ambiance is nice cozy and intimate. The service was great. I ordered the shoyu pork. I liked the broth it was pretty legit. However the chasu pork was tough. I got the combo so it came with the gyoza. Dip it in ponzu you good to go. Price completely reasonably.

I love going to Mooncat when its hot because they have the best hiyashi chuka! Delicious, goes great with a beer and its filling when your hungry but dont want to eat too much! Day or night its the perfect little hole in the wall to relax and enjoy your day and meal.

Food was good but suprisingly small portions. It was maybe 1/3 the seeving size of a Top Ramen you buy in the supermarket.... for $15. I had one bamboo shoot and maybe two pieces of pork. The broth was delicious and innitself was a gold star but I will not go back as serving is incredibly lacking in size.

Super impressed! i stopped by here after seeing a movie, it’s a small building but the ambiance and decor has a very comforting + home feel to it. the staff were very attentive and friendly and the food out came in five minutes if not less. i ordered a ramune soda and the happy shoyu jr ramen. the food had a very nice flavor to it and the portions are definitely worth the price. i look forward to trying more items on the menu, i will definitely be coming back often! :)

Best Ramen ive had since returning back to the States after living in Japan for 14 months!!! I cannot tell you how happy my tummy was after slurping down the noodles! I am so bummed Im only passing through for work because I have missed a full Japanese Ramen experience so very much! Whenever Im in then area though I cant wait to come back! They even had the damp towel! A staple in Japan that I wish everyone else would adopt haha.

Amazing food for an amazing price!! We ordered tonkotsu, udon, gyoza, and the pork fried rice and everything tasted absolutely fantastic. Their tea was yummy and I was bummed I didnt try the green tea straight! The waitress was sweet and the food was fast too. Its a smaller place but definitely big restaurant quality!! Only downside was little AC, I hope its ventilated enough for the employees :)

MoonCat Ramens food tastes like you just walked into a Japanese home. Authentic, warming, and an amazing value. Their lunch special, only $9.95, provides you with a large bowl of udon/soba/or ramen, chicken karaage, and delicious fried rice. They also have specialty noodles, curry, tako rice, takoyaki, and with happy hour specials for $2.50 beer and $1 sake shots. Definitely stop by!

Oh my! The food took at least an hour to be served, even though is a small restaurant. At some point we were like did we eat already? Edamame seemed to be microwaved as some of them looked overcooked and brown. The sopu base seemed cooked from scratch, it was very good, but the actual noodle not so much, only 1 piece of meat.

I love this place. Whenever I’m in town from Portland, I HAVE to stop here. MoonCat offers a really nice variety of ramen, and they’re all solid. I also appreciate that they serve wavy noodles - my personal favorite. My husband can’t eat pork and this is one of the few ramen places he can go to that has more than one option for him to eat. Love the ambience, the service, and the prices.

This place is pretty decent. Good ramen and average sushi. Perhaps a bit overpriced, but the neighborhood of Old Town Monrovia is so lovely that you dont really mind right around the corner from the movie theater to grab a quick bite before catching a flick.

There is so much better Ramen out there I ate here 2x and ordered togo 1x by co-worker. Usually give more than 2 chances before writing a review. Ramen soup is lukewarm, noodle is too soft, 3x the soup was extra salty also if you order togo Owner refuse to pack noodle & soup separately so your noodle will get really soggy & barely any soup left by the time you eat it, she said “in Japan they never pack Noodle & soup separately” so she refuse to even if you request nicely I guess its not about what the customer likes or what makes sense Hopefully by now she realize we’re not in Japan & packing noodle separately is pretty easy.

Friendly and attentive staff, food is delicious and the menu has a decent selection. Good selection of drinks. Parking is plentiful around the area. Tried the Kara-age chicken and its amazing, the takoyaki was also good. The taco rice was suprisngly delicious, I have yet to try the ramen and will update once I do. I came here for lunch and was throughly impressed. This restaurant is located in downtown Monrovia, which has an awesome downtown atmosphere.I had the Chirashi lunch special, and it probably was the best chirashi bowl Ive had in a long time. It was very tasty and delicious. Every piece of fish and rice had beautiful flavor.This restaurant is small, so you may have a wait time. The service and atmosphere was great. I highly recommend this place.

We demonstrated for the waiter how much effort was required to cut thru the rubbery consistency and he agreed it wasnt right. However the mgr wouldnt allow taking it off the bill or even a discount. A bit on the pricier end but this small little Japanese restaurant located at the corner of Downtown Monrovia is the perfect place to find authentic Japanese sushi ! Everything is fresh, you can taste the beauty of the food. The thinly sliced salad cucumber was made with precision from the sushi chef but costing at about $6 a plate but not worth the price!Aside from that - our sushi chef Jeffery Tomita was not only a hospitable but you can tell he worked incredibly hard to make every sushi count taste that delicious!The 3 Star is because of the price other than that I would of gave it a better score because of Chef Tomita!

I finally got a chance to try this place out since I showed up a little bit early last time. Has a nice, casual, cozy atmosphere (20 seats inside, 10 outside) with an open kitchen for those who like watch the cooks/chefs at work preparing your meals. Across the small room was an elderly lady that brought a new friend to try the food which she gave high praise to. They were enjoying their afternoon, passing the time relishing on events from their youth and current events while enjoying their soup on a cool breezy day. This place is doing well for itself considering it has been open for about a year and a half (worth the drive to try out, especially if you live in Monrovia or nearby). When it comes to quenching your adult thirst, they have a small but intriguing selection of wines ranging from Brazilier dry Chenin Blanc ($24-25/ bottle), to Laherte Frères Brut Champagne ($45-46/half bottle). By the glass pours range from $8 to $10 (port wine). The only downside to their collection is that they only had two beers on hand; bud light and Kronenburg (although the latter is a good choice based on taste and price ($6).I started off with a few pieces of baguette and butter while my order was being fired when my mouth started watering at the smell of the scallops being seared just a few feet away...*Seared Sea Scallops- the aromas floating in the air, teasing my senses like a curvaceous vixen of a model giving a come hither look to a chubby nerd (me). Seared deliciously, juicy and tender enough to be cut with a fork. Was topped with rich, creamy truffle beurre blanc (no truffle oil was used, lets make sure you know that little factoid. Since they were out of the pea puree, my scallops were served with seasonal vegetables sautéed with pepper, garlic and butter. Paired perfectly with the Kronenburg, served ice cold in a pilsner glass.*Braised Short Ribs- boneless short rib on top of mashed potatoes drizzled with the reduced braising liquid. The meat was fork tender as it should be, and balanced well with the hints of thyme, garlic, and red wine in the sauce. The potatoes were delicately seasoned simply with butter, salt, and white pepper.*Cheese and Charcutterie Plate- I got quite a plateful saving this for last. On a small cutting board, I was given slices of: Genoa salami, sopressata, spicy salami, manchego, black pepper cheese, and Roquefort bleu cheese. By far, my favorites were the spicy salami and sopressata for the meats. Also, you can never go wrong with aged manchego, nor with the creamy/saltiness of Roquefort if you are into blue veined cheeses. It was served with a few slices of radishes and whole grain mustard, not with the traditional accompaniments of sliced fruit, honey, quince paste, or nuts.

MoonCat is now serving ramen. Like everything else on the menu, the ramen is delicious. Tan-tan men combo with gyoza was my recent selection. The broth was savory & tasty, but not as peanut-y as I was expecting. Ill kick up the spice level next time and perhaps try the karage with my ramen. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. Its easy to get to as its just off the Old Town strip and theres plenty of street parking.

Food was good but service was slow. Two of us split the bill, one cash, one card, and I left cash on the table for the tip. Since we left the tip at the table, we didnt write a tip on the receipt. As we were walking out, our server stopped us and said in a voice that everyone in the restaurant could hear, Excuse me...no tip!?. Shocked, I pointed to the table where the cash was left. She replied, Oh. As we walked out, I was embarrassed that everyone heard that, and that the server would be so bold as to react like that without looking where we were sitting first!
