A very busy place. The food was delicious! I really loved the wings! They were seasoned perfectly. I didnt like how you had to go and order your food and drinks at two different areas and then they brought your food to you.

The food is AMAZING here! I went for the first time the other day and ended up going right back 2 days later 😭 I tried both the chicken and the shrimp fried rice, the beef and broccoli, garlic noodles, the salt and pepper wings w/ fries (wasn’t cooked all the way so I ended up bringing them home and putting them in the air fryer), black pepper beef and their spicy crab fries. I have a video/ picture of most of these items just not the shrimp fried rice or the black pepper beef. Their alcoholic drinks aren’t the best but it gets the job done 🤣 I like going with around 4 people and having each person order like 1 or 2 things and do it buffet style.

Great fried rice and wings anytime, but especially welcome for late evening dinner, when most of Alameda has rolled up the sidewalks. Dont be thrown by the online ordering system; we were floored by the speed of the service. We also enjoyed the creative array of cocktails--my lychee martini was tasty and came with an actual fruit. A great choice for a quick bite and drinks with friends

A bit loud for people who aren’t used to it being loud, but great if you have a huge group. Great service, good food! Come here if you need a bite or hungry. Highly recommend. Order drinks at bar, for food on your phone through table QR or go up to bar or the other service counter.

I am from Virginia and I’ve had asian cuisine all over the world as a military veteran, this is by far the best I’ve ever had. The service is dope, atmosphere dope! You are seen here. I wish the entire world treated everyone the way we were treated in this restaurant. Portions are ridiculous, you can eat it for days. The technology of ordering yourself at the table and having great food in less than 10 minutes, wow!

I have been eating at Monkey King for years now, and I have always liked their food. Tonight was my first time eating back inside the restaurants since the covid pandemic. The restaurants is still set up the same, but the service has changed. You have to scan the code to see the whole menu at your table, or you can go up to the counter to order the food and pay. They provide paper menus at the counter, they will bring you water or the drinks you order but nomore waiter service. I went to Monkey King for dinner to celebrate the new year. I order different plates, and I got Mongolian Beef chow mien. Salt n pepper chicken wings, crab fried rice, orange chicken, pot stickers, egg rolls . They food was very fresh and tasted really good. I got there an hour after they opened and it was too packed at all which was great so our food came out quickly it wasnt a long wait . The parking is still the same wherever you can find one lol. I will definitely keep eat at the Monkey King & the Pub brew down the way. im still eating at Monkey King

Went to Monkey King on 5/10 @ 6 pm with my daughter. My daughter ordered over her phone while we were seated at the table. I told her not to add a tip at the time because I always tip in cash. I guess this rubbed the staff the wrong way because the girl who waited on us brought two cups of water and we never saw her again. She provided cups and a pitcher of water to seven other occupied tables but completely ignored us. I tried to catch her attention for a refill and she turned away when I made eye contact with her and raised my hand. Although the food was quite good, I doubt my family and I will ever go back after this rudeness.

Coming from high reviews such DISAPPOINTMENT. I recently had the misfortune of dining at Monkey King restaurant, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had. The food was terrible, the service was atrocious, and the atmosphere was less than inviting.The service was just as bad as the food. The guy behind the bar was less than enthusiastic to get our order he was being rude. When we asked if we could sit outside he simply said uh yeah you can just to-go the food then sit outside uh okay, so we did. Not only did we order first and wait for literally 30 mins other people were getting their dishes first before us. They only had 4 out of the 5 dishes done. DO NOT GET THE CHICKEN LARB 🤢Overall, I would highly recommend avoiding Monkey King restaurant. The food is terrible, the service is atrocious, and the atmosphere is less than inviting. If youre looking for ANY OTHER GOOD meals go somewhere else while they take advantage of drunk people when they order this food from this pub.The spicy crab fries was aight.

This place is popping!!! Opened at 5pm on a Saturday and there were people waiting outside 20minutes prior. You sit where you want, they come around really fast getting water and other drink orders in. The food came out really fast too, and it was delicious! Clearly you can see nobody waited for a picture and attacked the food haha!

Horrible! Don’t go. Took two bites and left the restaurant. Got calamari and broccoli with oyster sauce. Both were hella bad. Also, no host or server. Order at the bar and pay there too… then sit down and wait. Weird dynamic for a restaurant. Used to go there before COVID and loved it. Super sad their quality went down like this.

Im so happy we came across this place!! Its a casual asian restaurant with a hipster vibe. We were jamming to good music (hip hop). Absolutely delicious food! Service was great, prices were fair and the drinks were pretty good too. We ordered a mango margarita, some blue drink, fried squid, korean bbq ribs, chinese broccoli with garlic sauce and kimchee fried rice. So much food and not enough room in our bellies to eat it all. Im definitely looking forward on coming back, this place rocks!

I decided to try their lunch special, Wings plus add-ons, Ive previously mainly ordered their garlic noodles. I ordered based on the picture and got the least risky flavor lemon pepper and side of garlic noodles. I did not know it was dry rubbed, in the photo wings didnt have breading or rub. Ive had wingstop and fire wings a few times, but my stomach did not like their dry rub formula because halfway through my stomach was hurting, and I stopped and literary didnt hold it down. I barely even got to the noodles. The wings were also so over fried there was barely any meat. I called and explained, and he said I could come back and just get a replacement or money back. I brought the chicken back for him to see, but because some of it was eaten, I guess he just thought that my complaint was not legitimate. I wanted something else in exchange and he basically told me I had to pay for it terrible customer service because it was not about the money! I will just stick to the noodles with them, first and last time ordering wings. False advertising with photos.

Food is great. Served family style. Can be shared between 2-3 people. Put yourself on the waiting list via YELP otherwise you’ll be waiting all night. It is loud crowd so conversation is really hard to have during dinner. I suggest going during the weekdays if you want to have a peaceful dinner. Everything is good on the menu! Especially the crab fried rice and salt & pepper wings!

I had the worst experience of dining at monkey King Alameda yesterday evening. I havent been there since covid-19. I was so excited to be in that environment again and remember how wonderful the service as well as the food was. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken and a few adult beverages. Ill start with drinks. From my understanding the person making drinks wasnt actually a bartender he was the door host ...that would explain why my Long Island ice tea was not made correctly. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken and garlic noodles.After I received my salt and pepper I quickly noticed that it tasted like pure sugar it was extremely sweet. When I pulled aside the waiter and inquired about the unusual sweetened poultry.. ...he implied it was the MSG. I replied back that MSG doesnt have a particular taste it enhances the flavors or spices. The young waiter could careless if I was dissatisfied. This restaurant has changed.. its definitely not what it use to be.. horrible food and service

Im not from the bay area, but before leaving after every visit, my family always take me here too eat. Their fries and chicken wings are delicious. The fusion plates, Spicy crab fries and Kim chi fried rice are great. And you cant go wrong with the garlic noodles. Been there 3 times in the pass 5 years and the food has stayed consistently good. Definitely a place for anyone to try if they are in the Alameda area.

I don’t know what happened to this place. Everything deteriorated. The food taste bad with very small portions of meat. The service is the worse. You have to get up from your table while you are eating and go to the bar to add anything even a soda. They don’t have servers any more. So automatically who ever works there will help you with an attitude. Don’t waste your money. I really feel like I got ripped off. I will never come back.

Uneatable food. You have to order on your phone and pay before you get the food. We ordered fried dumplings that were doughy and undercooked, orange chicken, garlic noodles with chicken and garlic noodles with beef. The food came out in under 2 minutes and everything had a gelatinous coating on it. Nothing was fresh and everything tasted exactly the same, like freezer burn. I took one bite of each and that was it. I wouldnt feed this to my dog. Do not recommend.

First of all this place needs a bigger location because they always seem to have huge partys and never enough seats or tables. The only good food is their chicken wings, fried shrimp rice, and possibly their garlic noodles but other than that the rest of the menu is lacking taste. Ive tried their pork chops which were lacking taste and had way too much fat. Tried their pot stickers which werent the best Ive had better else where. Usually when I come in to pick up my fried rice order staff seems friendly and professional. They just need to improve on the rest of the food on their menu because if everything else I tried was good Id be ordering more not just an order of wings and fries. Also prices are a little too high especially on the food that lacks taste. Hard to find parking too.

Great food! Great spot for girls nite out or date night. Chill ambiance, great music the entire time, ordering was so easy. You can order at the bar or on your phone. Food came out hot, everything was made to order. Service was good, tables were clean. Parking wasnt too bad because we were there later in the evening. Its street parking, we parked a block away.Hot & sour soup was good, could prob feed four, we took half home. The fried tofu, salt & pepper wings (we got the spicy Korean sauce on the side, it was perfect because we can control how much sauce we wanted, if its not too spicy). Pub down the street called to have a time and was told to come down there was plenty of space. Get there they tell me I have 30 minutes to order in my group That was on the way What have to order and take our food next door. Staff was very young and professional. I need training period.We then went to the second monkey King down the street I realized everything had changed from when we originally first started going it was set up more like a bar nightclub. It was so noisy you couldnt even hear the person next to you talking. Definitely not a place to go if you want a nice sit down meal with family and friends. A good place to go if you want to watch sports and have drinks. The food was just okay. Now you have to scan your menu. I had a problem placing my order ended up having to go to the bar to replace the because scanner wasnt working properly for me.

First time going, and all dishes average about $20, which I thought was a lot until the food came. They serve family style, big plates of food, and smaller plates given to put what you want on them. The Ginger & Green Onion Crab Fried Rice melts in your mouth. Also, had Black Pepper Beef & Mu Shu Wraps. All the food was good, and given enough to take home. Heads up, you have to order your food via by scanning one of those square things or at the bar.

I really enjoyed the food here. Me and my date ordered to go. I specifically choose to go here because i was craving some Korean fried beef ribs. I believe thats what its called here. I also got garlic fries which i wished had more garlic flavor to them. But other than that this place definitely gets five stars. It cured my craving. Not a place I would go again. No service everything through your phone. If you ask a good runner for anything they literally run away. No eye contact. Might as well have robots working you’d get a better service. I love monkey king, its one of my favorite places to eat! I suggest it to a lot of people, even strangers I have overheard talking about what to eat. I’ll suggest it a long with a bunch of other places as well, but I like it because the food is always good no matter when you go. The very first time I tried it, I went with my husband & we were so shocked how good it was. I had only picked up doordash orders from here before I ever had the chance to try it myself, but I noticed I would get a lot of orders from there, so I thought why not! I love the garlic noodles, dried fried ribs, crab fried rice and the wings with the fries with the garlic and jalapenos. Mmmmmm 😋 If you go you wont be disappointed!

This was the last place open on the street the night we were there. It was loud, packed, and understaffed. Theres a process to get a table that wasnt clear to me on our first visit, which made things a bit tricky.I think the way its supposed to work is that you sign in at the kiosk, they send you a text message, then you find a table which has a QR code leading you to their menu and ordering system. You then place your order through the app and someone brings it to your table.After we got settled in, thought we were checked in, and got turned away at the ordering window, we worked it out.The food was delicious and satisfying and were certainly going to come back. Now that we know how it works were going to have a better experience next time.Dont miss the garlic noodles.

My friends and I havent seen each other in a super long time, so we decided to meet up here to grab dinner. I have never been before but my friends have been multiple times so it was of course on their recommendation. It was in the perfect spot in between where all of us were. It took us all about 10 to 15 minutes to get there and we got there. It was right before the rush so we were able to catch our own table. A few things have changed, from what I was told. The tables now include a menu underneath their screen so that you can see. You have to go up to the counter to order, but they will bring the food to you. You could also order food online, but its not everything. You also cannot order any of the drinks online so you definitely have to go up to the counter to order everything.Overall, I enjoyed everything. There were a lot of people who were in there, but I felt that everyone was spaced out just enough that I wasnt too worried. There was also a woman. Theyre having her birthday, hope it was a good one

I was excited to go eat here as my friends highly recommended but my experience wasnt that great. They served us raw fried pork chops after waiting to be seated with no one in the restaurant. The literally took the broken apart pork chops and refried them and added even more salt and served that too us. The menu didnt specify that mushrooms where in the broccoli and beef..I have a mushroom allergy and ended up bitting into a mushroom and the staff just wasnt that great about it.

If I could I wouldnt even give this place a one star review. The food is good but not worth it, horrible customer service and our order is never ready when they say it will be. I called and placed a pickup order; first red flag, I asked for extra cilantro on the side and the guy said ask when you get here because the chefs wont remember. Second red flag, I said my husband will be picking it up so I put it under his name and he keeps saying the wrong name. After three attempts to correct him he said our food will be ready in 30 minutes and hung up. I told my husband its under the wrong name, not the end of the world. He goes there after 30 minutes, foods not ready and they need 15 more minutes (not surprised). He paid and waits. After 20 minutes he goes to see how much longer and they cant find our order! He told them what we ordered, that we already paid and that it was with a wrong name. Nothing. He calls me to confirm what I ordered and they had it under a different name from what the guys told me. One hour and 5 minutes later he leaves with our food. NEVER AGAIN will we order from here.

I am in LOVE with this restaurant! The drinks and the food was absolutely delicious! I had the crab fried rice, sweet and sour fish and garlic fries with a spiked strawberry drink.....yummy! The bartender Steven was courteous and attentive!! It gets pretty crowded so I recommend getting there early or making advanced reservations. The hours are still reduced from what they were pre-pandemic but the food is solid. Cant go wrong with some spicy crab fries with an order of salt & pepper wings, and those crave worthy garlic noodles. Just know that on a weekend evening its not the place to go if youre looking for a quiet meal as it can be a lengthy wait for a table and it gets quite raucous in the dining room.

The food is delicious, i tried the garlic noodles with chicken and the pork potstickers.Unfortunately at this moment they only do take out, but you can call and place an order and then come and pick it up, otherwise youre just there waiting depending on the demand. Worst garlic noodles ever and possible food poisoning!!!!Ive been to this location before awhile ago and remember it being good so I decided to go here yesterday to pick up dinner. I ordered garlic shrimp noodles, garlic noodles with beef, and the Mexican street corn.When I got home I noticed the noodles with beef were just swimming in a pool of murky liquid. I noticed a short while after eating my stomach was in so much pain and was taken over by stomach aches and nausea. To keep it short I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom.I also remember while waiting for the food a table next to me sent back their garlic noodles because they didnt like it and as they brought it back to the kitchen I heard someone say add shrimp to it. In the back of my head I was thinking the worst thoughts and praying that they werent planning to recycle garlic noodles that were sent back to accommodate my order of garlic shrimp noodles. But after getting home both orders looked as if they may have been recycled with their unevenly lenthed noodles that almost looked like they were spat out or left overs from previous customers. And with the way I felt last night, it wouldnt surprise me if they recylce dishes that are sent back from all their complaining customers...which seemed to be quite a few while I was there yesterday!Ive had garlic noodles at many places and this is by far the worst and I never plan to return again. Do yourself a favor if youre craving garlic noodles by going somewhere else....Hang ten boiler is by far much better and in the same neighborhood.

I was sitting at a four top table alone. The family behind me was pushed right up against the back of my chair. Before covid-19 this would not have been an issue. But now its a bit concerning when someone has to get up and leave the table for them to physically brush up against you. I wasnt a super fan of the broth in the wonton soup. It reminded me of watered down packaged ramen soup. Okay guys Im going to stop being so negative on a post I gave 4 stars. There was also fried chicken breast pieces which was excellent. Guys remember to reserve tour spot through Yelp this place is in high demand during peak hours. They seemed to have changed some of their happy hour items, the main thing being the jungle juice! If you havent had it, IT IS STRONG. Now its $16 =(But anyways, this seems to be the place to go for late night munchies. The salt and pepper wings and tofu are always good! The other items on the menu seem to be fine too, nothing bad but nothing outstanding.However, the service can be very slooooowwwwww But its usually because they seem understaffed, especially late at night when everyone comes. So dont come here in a rush.

Came in around 11 at night with a toddler on a Friday, and was able to seat ourselves (party of 4). Waiters were pretty quick and didnt mind the intense staredown my son challenged him to. Food arrived quick and Id say we were out of there a little before 12.

My experience was so horrible!! I haven’t been here since the pandemic started. And tonight was horrible!! Guy sat us and never told us we have to order from the phone.. so we’re waiting for 15 to order and nothing!! Then we ordered thru the app and my order was incorrect I asked for it to be corrected they told me they made it right already!! I went here for the first time because of the reviews I read in the past and wanted to try something New. As far As food goes most of what we ordered was delicious except for the Honey Walnut Prawns because the batter was slightly undercook. My one complain that sticks out the most was the service...why is it that I get what we ordered to dine there come out in batches according to what another table ordered. Appetizers should come out first right? Well the calamari came after we received the dry fried ribs..5 mins. later the Crab Fried rice came, and 5 mins later the Honey Walnut prawns and then the calamari came. About 15 mins after that we were just about done eating what was in front of us then lastly our garlic noodles came out which we cancelled because we were already done eating. So again food was good but timing as far as our food coming to the table together was very poor. Next time Ill just order Togo so I get everything ordered at one time.

Popular restaurant, moderate wait to be seated, good cocktails, so-so service. Younger crowd. Food takes a long time to come out, one dish at a time with 20 minutes of wait time between dishes (yes, you finish one dish before the next dish arrives), the last dish being the soup. Very odd. Its not your average Chinese restaurant. More of a social destination. I wont return.

I’m at the pub next door (alameda brewing co) with is a connected space where patrons order food and it brought over. I walk over to order and some chic (I’d say something else but trying to be polite) says “are you lost”. Should be more like 4.5*. The only minor complaint is slightly greasy food, BUT my group ate every morsel of food. Two are extremely picky pescatarians, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Ill definitely be back.

Really good food. Always a long wait and super busy. Its best to make a reservation in advance especially if you have a large party. Food generally comes fairly quickly. Parking ducks due to the busy downtown location. There is a parking lot around the corner but I would recommend Uber or Lyft since the public parking lot is usually full. Good drinks and nice comfortable atmosphere.Nice place for a date nite or a good girls night out.

The web site says closes at 2am. We drove from San Leandro to Alemeda to give it a try. It was a little after 12am. We where greeted at the door by a security guard. He asked if we had a phone order or ordering to go? We said we wanted to eat there. He said they where closing. Looking in we see the bar stools up on the bar. We left.
