My visits to mitsuwa always makes a dent in my wallet. They have a wide variety of Japanese goodies. I always try to pick up sale items to save some money. I also pick up bento and various food items. This time I picked up some ramen on sale. The seafood pack is the only i tried this time and it was pretty good. I recommend the spicy cod roe onigiri, spicy cod roe pasta or napolitan spaghetti.

The newer location in Torrance is way much better! Love the fact Mitsuwa not only incorporated a grocery store inside but also food and drink stalls which makes the entire Mitsuwa grocery experience something to look forward to!Rating this location a 5 out 5!

My friends and I stopped by before leaving LA and it was a well-deserved treat. Great selection of fresh seafood/sashimi available + their food court had delicious and affordable options. I tried the lunch combo from the udon nook and was pleasantly surprised by the price for a kitsune udon, an okra tempura and a croquette.Also stopped by the matcha bar for a hojicha latte!

As a sushi lover, I was excited to finally get to this store and see their offerings. Walking in, the cleanliness and organization of the store made it easy to navigate. The selection of sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi was impressive, and all of it looked incredibly fresh. The pricing was fair, on the higher side, but the quality of fish was well worth it.The rest of the store had a wide variety of Japanese groceries and snacks. My friend was able to pick up some miso and other things for a comfy price. I highly recommend this store for anyone looking for fresh and delicious sushi.I didnt get to try some of the hot foods, but I will definitely come back and try them another time!

I have to say that the prices at this particular Mitsuwa are probably 20% higher than other stores. They had bento boxes that were $30+ for unagi, rice etc. Totally overpriced. Quality is ok but they even charge extra for condiments like soy sauce and wasabi. Total money grab, just shop in Gardena, so much cheaper its not funny!

Although the milk I buy was a dollar more than Albertsons, the small watermelons were $4 more than Mitsuwa. The store was immaculate and well laid-out. The workers-quite gracious. I had a lychee drink with red bean mochi. Yummy! I cant wait to return to buy bento-eels and rice!

A huge store with great variety. The food court is pretty big with lots of differing stalls to choose from. The prices here are higher than Tokyo Central but maybe the selection is slightly fresher. The $2 veggie deals are amazing!

Great place to get sashimi! Delicious and reasonably priced. They have a good variety of fish plus a bunch of pre-made Japanese dishes to pick up and eat on the go. Very clean. Will definitely be back to make some homemade poke bowls!

As you know by now, I’m a huge fan of sushi. Recently I had a chance to try some grocery store sushi. Wait 🖐🏼!! It’s not what you’re thinking 🤔. I tried out Premium Sushi Set from Special Chef’s Sushi at Mitsuwa in Torrance. And lemme tell you I was delightedly surprised 💫. It turned out their fish 🐠 were picked each morning and prepared on the same day. This place small but mighty. It has lots to choose from, with a bakery by the entrance and then regular grocery store on the inside. We came in looking for matcha which we found and onigiri which were delicious and filling for a snack. One less star because it was next to a big shopping mall so if you don’t pay attention you can miss it.

As a grocery store, it is quite disappointing compared to their former store in Gardena. However, the food court is just as good and by far the best place to eat in the vicinity of the mall. The selection in the store does seem to be improving a bit compared to when they first opened, but they have a limited footprint to deal with.

Its not fully open, yet, since a lot of stores are still getting ready, but its still worth going to! Its very clean and I found a lot of Japanese stuff I was looking for (snacks, food, and the kinokuniya next door).This Mitsuwa does NOT have a bakery. I really wanted some melon pan. Im not sure if they plan to have one, but Id love to see one. They do have a nice seafood selection. Some restaurants in the food court section are not open, yet, but there are at least 3 to choose from.The restrooms are also super clean!

New market smaller than some of their other locations. A number of food court locations are open but it looks like it will double in size. Theres also an outside patio for the food court. Separate food stalls in the back of the store for sushi and other options. As always, very clean and well stocked. Plenty of parking right out front.

Shopping @ Mitsuwa is just an incredible experience. It’s spacious, comfortable and enjoyable. Everything looks colorful and nice. There’s a wide selection of imports and you will definitely find something intriguing and never seen before. I have been several mitsuwa locations in socal, and this probably the biggest. Food court is great. Some fresh produces are a bit pricey compared to Korean and Chinese counterparts, but generally better packaging and quality.For anyone drive 20+ minutes to get here, bringing your own freezer bags is a good idea.

Well I have found a new favorite place to shop and for lunch or dinner.First off the Mitsuwa Marketplace is HUGE. I will add many pics.As I walked in the door I stopped for the specialty coffee pour over from Yoshi. He is fabulous. He taught me a new technique on how to do this using fresh coffee. There is a European flair to this. I purchased a cup of the Ethiopian that he offered as it is said to have a slightly fruity flair. Honestly this cup of coffee rivaled any brewed cup. It isnt fast. So please relax and wander for 4 minutes as he produces a fine coup of coffee for you. Super fresh!! Woke me up and zero bitter taste and not at all WEAK. you can buy the coffee in bags and the special gizmo he uses can be purchased on Amazon if you want to try this at home.Then I hit the Ramen. I got a medium sized Miso rate and it was delicious. Now I do not have to travel to GARDENA for some excellent Ramen. Flavorful and the noodles were absolutely cooked to perfection. They are so clean here. I love that you can go get a seat outside and wait for the pager to go off and then go pick up. I was full and glad i didnt go large but if youre a super hungry boy go big!!My friend got the teriyaki from another spot inside the food court and it was so yummy looking. She could not eat it all.There is a bookstore also inside and I was THRILLED to see all the art pens and supplies including watercolor supplies. They had great selection of cards for all occasions and so many books. I fell in love with another of the notebooks as I am a girl who loves to make lists.I also enjoyed the supermarket. Fresh fish, neat, fruits and veggies, and the specialty Asian varieties that I like and are hard to find. I have to say of you are shopping at the mall dont want to wait to eat and love sushi... TONS of fresh choices. Check my pics!! I stocked up lol. They safe distance and provide sanitizer. Masks are required. Very clean and the Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Also check out the sweets and the bakery. What a depressing place. Walked in and was confused how the store worked, theres the main section and then a lot of other little independent stores inside. I stopped and asked the big blonde security guard who was nasty with an attitude. I walked around the empty store with overpriced Asian cr@p, no customers, not one. I dont get why theyre paying Ms Personality (security guard) if I was the only one inside. HARD PASS. 👎

An amazing g assortment of Japanese items including bath and beauty, snacks, fresh bento lunches, as well as a grocery store, food court (where you can get delicious and cheap donuts and hot food), and Kinokuniya bookstore! A brand new Mitsuwa Japanese supermarket with a bookstore and several restaurants inside. Four of the stores (bakery, insurance, food) have yet to open, while the takoyaki, ramen, rice bowl, and others are.Prices are like other Mitsuwa supermarkets - sale prices can be very good, like $5 vs $8-10 for detergent, but generally higher than other markets like Seiwa, especially for salmon. The quality is generally good across the board for meats and fish at all the Mitsuwas Ive been to.The fresh vegetables and fruits section is small like the Irvine Mitsuwa, so youll want to visit others like the Costa Mesa shop for a larger fresh vegetables section. The food court closes by 8 pm before the supermarket closes.For a Supermarket, the HUGE Tokyo Central just north of the 405 in Gardena is FAR better - huge fresh produce section, far more goods, huge beauty section, and is pretty much the 1-stop shop in the area among Japanese supermarkets. At this Mitsuwa, I can easily think of vegetables and fruits I need not available here, thus the 4 stars.

I had a worst(saltiest) udon at Mugimaru +Toritetsu. When I complained they gave me a hot water to add. Like it’s going to magically make the taste better.Also chicken katsu at Sutadon Ya had the toughest katsu ever.

This an excellent Asian grocery but is more than just that. There are at least 4 restuarants that sell food. There is specialty tea store that has large selection of loose teas (green, olong, and black. Huge selection of Sake, soy sauces, rice, seafood, and special cuts of meat sliced thin for stir fry. There is also a special desert store.

Love this market place! Aside from the market itself, there’s a food court with a lot of different vendors to choose from, offering foods at good price. I especially love Matcha Love for their soft serves. I got the roasted matcha and I’m hooked. They also have a consignment store in there. There’s also a travel agency there that I think would be the people I want to talk to if I’ll ever plan a trip to Japan. There are also little shops that sells snacks that desserts that are carefully made and packaged with care that’s distinctively Japanese ways. The market it self is also very big with a lot of selection

It was a market on one side and various shops/tiny restaurant on another side. I had fun looking around. My family and I got a little food at various restaurants and shared. My go-to Japanese market in Torrance, South Bay. They have a lot of variety here as well as a good food court with Santouka Ramen; my favorite ramen. They also have pop-up stores from time to time and they had Modoo donuts for about 2 weeks here; very delicious. I love their quite to-go trays for sushi and chirashi bowls.

This is a Japanese themed food court with a Japanese food and grocery attached.There is a produce market that carries the Staples like Daikin root, fresh ginger, fresh shitake mushrooms, mizuna, etc. There is a small fish section that has the sashimi favorites and a number of fresh and frozen fish like hokke, Saba, and sanma. There is also a pickle section from everything like tsukemono and nukazuke. A meat section with sukiyaki meat, kurobuta, and jidori chicken. Prepared foods with everything from oyakodonburi, katsukare, and chicken kara-age. Beer, sake, and shochu. Plus aisles of sweets and senbei. There are also all of the condiments, calpico, and what ever else you can think of if you were a Japanese expat.Mitsuwa takes it up a notch by hosting week long special events like food from Hokkaido or Kyushu.The market is very clean and the staff is very friendly.There is ample parking in front and in the parking structure, plus a lot of street parking out back.The biggest bummer is that the food court closes at 8PM and they are out of the togo sushi by 530PM.

Love Mitsuwa Marketplace! Normally we visit the San Diego location but this time we had a chance to drop by this one in Torrance and its even better since it has a small food court and a branch of Kinokuniya bookstores inside. The supermarket itself, whether this one or in San Diego isnt just a great place to pick up those harder-to-find ingredients for Asian cuisine but I love the pre-cooked bento boxes they make! Theyre just like the ones Ive had the chance to try in Tokyo supermarkets and convenience stores. The salmon tastes divine and makes a great quick microwaveable meal that totally beats the taste of a typical TV dinner when youre short on time or too tired to cook for yourself. Add the fact that its located at the Del Amo Fashion Center Mall which has a branch of Book Off and a bunch of other small Japanese-centric stores and this Mitsuwa branch is an amazing place to visit for any Japanophile.

This location has pretty much the same stuff as the old location although grocery space is limited. The store itself is clean and bright. The food court is gorgeous with high quality Japanese food and sweets. There’s even nice covered outdoor patio seating which I’m sure will be busy. My favorite Japanese bookstore, Kinokuniya, is in this new Mitsuwa as well.It’s a convenient location with good parking, so if you just want to pick up a few choice Japanese foods while you’re at Del Amo this place is nice.

The sashimi we purchased today turned out to be quite unpleasant when we opened it after 30 minutes. Despite the supposed freshness indicated by the December 20 expiry date, the salmon had a strong, fishy odor. We discard the entire box after one bite! I forgot to take a picture before I threw away but the box has three varieties: salmon, tuna and one kind of white fish.

The food court actually has some renowned shops like Santouka ramen and Hannosouke for tempura dons. Recently the hype has been about MoDo donuts doing their pop up and it has driven a lot more awareness for Mitsuwa! I hope they bring that same innovation, opportunity, and selection of great food stores to their next Mitsuwa location. The store is moving to Del Amo on Carson at the end of 2019. Excited to visit the new spot.

When I came the first time I was impressed with what I saw here. You can buy pretty much almost anything here that youre looking for. But for me per se, I come here for the Takoyaki (which is absolutely down right 🔥)!!! This time over the weekend me and my fiance we got the 24 piece Takoyaki and surprisingly we ate the whole thing (the first time we came we just get the standard 8 piece)!!! One place had steak so I just had to try it. $16 and this is what you get, salad, soup, rice, grilled veggies and steak, see pic. Just got tired of curry and katsu chicken, wanted to try something else. I forgot the name of the place but its the place that sells soft serve ice cream, the place next to the raw sushi they sell there in the food court.

The food court they got here offers a variety in the standard Japanese foods. All very tasty.The actual grocery store was lacking. The entire store has this weird, kinda gross smell upon entry that lingered throughout the store.They have self-checkout but it only takes card, which is a little inconvenient tbh.They also have a gashapon corner, Shiseido and Kinokuniya book store inside the store.

Amazing selection of Japanese products. I love the premade sushi. I always go here when I want to make ramen, sushi or wontons. Sun ramen is the best and you can find it in the frozen or refrigerated isle.Getting pantry staples like rice vinegar, sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, etc. is much more affordable here than my local grocery store.Mitsuwa also has a small produce section but they often have produce you can’t find at other stores.There is a bakery in the front which is nice if you need to pick up dessert!

The market has a great selection of stores in the food court, which seems to be the main appeal. I was mainly there to check out the grocery store but ultimetely ended up disappointed. The selection was very limited and somewhat pricey. There are many better Japanese grocery stores and we ended up at Tokyo Central which was far better. If your main goal are the smaller shops, its amazing (5 stars)! If i had to rate the grocery store, it is not that good. If you want Asian groceries, I highly recommend checking out a different store.

Dont come here unless you want to be racially profiled. Witnessed it at the little bookstore inside the market. An employee was not very discreetly following a young black woman around and watching her as she was innocently browsing the items. Felt like I was being watched as well. As my partner and I were leaving, I noticed the two ladies at the register were staring hard at a computer in the corner which I assumed was security footage. I was mostly here for the pens and pencils. The selection in Mai Do is honestly incredible. They have numerous mechanical pencils, like the Uni Kuru Toga Roulette and Pentel GraphGears.The lead selection surprised me. They sold mostly Pentel Ain Stein and Uni Nano Dia leads. There were most lead sizes, including 0.2 and 0.4, and in 0.5, the lead grades ranged from 4H to 4B, with all others in between. A few colored leads were sold as well.The pen selection was also quite nice. The customizable Uni Style Fit pens were available, both bodies and components. In terms of fountain pens, the selection was nice. I cant really say much though, as Im not as familiar with pens.Overall, its nice to see a place selling these kinds of things, and I would probably go again some time.

Amazing Fresh Market place and Food Court!I found everything I needed and plenty of things I didn’t need at Mitsuwa.Be warned the bakery and a lot of the restaurants close well before the actual store closes.More than half of the restaurants that are inside the market place food court are not visible/represented on google maps. But I strongly encourage you to go visit anyways.By far the best part is the restaurants you’ll see when you enter just on your right, among other things they sell oniguri and they have a microwave so you can warm up your food!

2021 Update, downgrading from 5 to 2 stars - This is more about the new location, food court, and how they are running things. Honestly I dont like it, it is definitely a downgrade, and what makes it worse is how they set things up. No easy access to/from mall - they decided to close up all the doors and force everyone to go through the front entrance. They also decided to use only one door for their patio, corralling people into a tighter area. Im not sure the reasoning, but with the pandemic, I would imagine giving people space would be better. Food court offering is also worse, the whole place is smaller, so I imagine a lot of products that they use to have are no longer available, and I cant imagine them having special events anymore. End of an era, but its good more mall goers can easily enjoy better Japanese food and grocery on a whim. Definitely saw a lot more different ethnic groups than their previous location.--- Original Review Below ---Always something going on here, and even when there isnt, the food court is pretty good. My go-to place for Japanese liquor. They have occasional sales which make the prices pretty competitive, otherwise can be a little more expensive for some things compared to Tokyo Central or Seiwa. Though this place is rlly cute and clean. The Japanese lady cashiers are extremely rude! If you take a second long in the self check out line. They come over start aggressively tapping on the screen to the pay screen. And once I was trying to transfer money to my card and the one Japanese lady laughed and looked at my phone and my items and continued to tap the screen to “help me” check out. I come often for the claw machine games and that lady is always harassing me- always watching me as I check out and if you dare to ask her a question she waves you off and says “don’t know “ Like train your employees. The food was super delicious! The store was really clean even though it was busy and people were going in and out constantly. Everyone who worked there was super friendly and helpful except for my cashier. I just bought 2 sodas and when I handed Emma (i saw her name on the receipt) my bill she sighed very loudly and started to yell at me. She was saying something very fast and I could not understand, I was saying thank you as she handed me my change but she had an attitude with me. She also started ringing someone up quickly before I could even take ONE step away from my spot. I was not taking long. I’m not confrontational so I walked away. This is not an experience I would like to go through again, although I love this store, I will probably be avoiding lines and go to self checkout if this is how all the cashiers act.

Ive always enjoyed coming to Mitsuwa. The grocery store is pretty decent sized and has a good selection of Asian products you wouldnt normally find at a regular grocery store. I love the little food court adjacent to it as well. Just be aware that some places it accept cash so just come ready if you do decide to eat there.

Visited this place on vacation. Great food court. Large selection of groceries in store. Definitely would recommend stopping in. Also had a gift/stationery store thats fun to shop in.

So clean! I appreciate that they take so much pride. The service was extremely polite, and we found everything we needed.We grabbed a bite in the food court. I wish they had a little more variety, but what we did eat was delicious. I had spicy miso ramen with a side of rice and natto, while the kids had oyakodon. Both were great.The parking lot is large, but its a busy place.

Mitsuwa is very clean and organized. Workers are polite. The food boxes are fresh. I do miss the old place but Ive learned to enjoy visiting after church on Sundays or any day I can go. I do miss the makeup Camake (sp) brand.

This market is just renewed and the place is super clean. It has every grocery you would want from a Japanese supermarket. The price did go up a bit after the renewal, however, the high quality products and services are worth it. There is also a canteen area with plenty of tables and seats.

Overall is good, but I returned my goods two times, you had to show your receipt. The first time I didn’t bring my receipt, the lady refused my return. The second time, I returned an unopened shampoo with receipt, the lady said it was used already, after explained 2 mins, she allowed us returned it.

I lived in Japan for 6 years. The Japanese food here is as good as it gets in the United States. Its like home away from home. Almost like a Japanese market was dug out the ground in Japan and dropped off here. I also love that its down the street from my house.

The new location is great. There’s plenty of parking. The store is probably the same size as it’s previous location. The food court has lots of new options. The only down side is that I don’t think there’s as much seating as the previous location. I haven’t been there when it was crowded but I can imagine that on a busy day it would be hard to find seats. All in all I love that there’s a Mitsuwa close to me for all of my Japanese cravings!

This new location is smaller.They upgraded their cashier area.The new food court and store area have more options. Also, it has a Japanese book store which is very convenient. Some stores still are closed. The new table arrangement is weird and kind of bad.The parking now could be complicated.Mitsuwa is more expensive compared with other Japanese markets in the area. Their advantage is the businesses around it.

Its not as big as the old location but I have to admit that they have more unique items that you cant find in Tokyo Central. Its a lot more clean and neat as well. I like it!

Very clean and pleasant place to shop in. Plenty of instore food court locations. Quite enjoyed rhw Ramen shop. Really enjoyable. Its located two shops over on the left as you enter the main entrance. Cant go wrong with ramen.

Some Japanese exclusive items are pricey but groceries have good price for their quality.Food court has many choices you can choose from though one issue is some restaurants only take cash. This place used to be full of Japanese stores inside but kinda of empty now.Bento box price has gone down and they serve delicious bento box and many selections to choose from.
