Super great store! Love, love, love the old fashion train building! The garden area was beautiful. The store seemed very well organized and staff took great care of us. We were even greeted by a manager, Haley, who went out of her way to show us around to find what we were looking for. She seemed super friendly towards us and her staff too, always had a big smile. Love all the cute handmade, beachy yard art. Will definitely be back for that.

DONT BUY ACE BRAND PAINT!This paint is so thin, it may be in a bigger can than Rust-Oleum but you are just paying for thinner. What a waste of time.2-15oz cans, put on about 5 coats and it still needs more.

From the time you enter this store, you feel like you are in a mom & pop establishment. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. Their prices are comparable to Home Depots, which is important to me as I prefer to shop at locally owned stores.BTW - Miners nuts, bolts, washers, etc., inventory is more expansive than H.D.s.

I’ve been getting more into home projects, and sometime I run into issue the internet just can’t help me with, I’ve been going to Minors more frequently not only for the quality products but the service and knowledgeable staff have saved me more times then i can explain. Recently installed irrigation and sod had 0 knowledge of how to put in irrigation systems but the guys in plumbing same me for a lot of time and frustrations. Thanks guys

I went in for advice on my Impatiens. They said it looked like aphid eggs. I bought the Neem Oil as they advised. I dont know why I feel surprised by the customer service there each time I go. Most Ace Hardware’s are good, but Miner’s Ace Hardware is second to no other. I spoke to and received great assistance from several of the associates while I was finding my way around the store. My first time visiting this location. The service was excellent! I interacted with 3 associates. All were welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, courteous and left me certain that I will be returning to this location on a regular basis... Most important is the initial purpose of my visit. I was looking for some fairly common and basic CPVC plumbing fittings. I initially paid a visit to the orange depot building super store. Now I am aware that various PEX A & Shark Bite Pex plastic plumbing systems are taking center stage these days and rightfully so. Never the Less CPVC is still used in various residential new construction applications though not nearly as popular. Where you will find perhaps the most common residential plumbing application of CPVC is going to be in mobile homes, park model style trailer homes, RV Campers and in residential housing built between the late 1980s to approximately 2014 and right up to the present. Which when taking into consideration the region where we live and the large number of mobile homes, RV & Park Models. There is Plenty of CPVC within reach. That means that there is a high likelihood that if you are going to upgrade or add on or possibly repair plumbing such as sinks, showers, etc. You will encounter CPVC. Now CPVC has its drawbacks and it certainly is not my favorite. Yet there are plenty of situations where the existing CPVC is going to be involved in your project. In many *not all of those situations. The continuation of CPVC makes the best sense. So I was surprised upon my visit to The Orange Depot to find the associate working the plumbing dept eager to help but clueless to CPVC. I found myself giving a crash course then after a thorough search while the associate was on his gadget trying to locate the product in the store. I concluded they dont carry that product and informed him of this. Give him an A for effort. He summoned his manager while I was by that time pricing other products for another project and just about to leave the facility. In a bold display of ignorance. The manager informed me that CPVC is no longer produced in the U. S. I felt embarrassment for him. I thought how shameful... This franchise would not think twice to put an associate in a terrible position of doing anything for a sale. Even if that meant making fools of themselves & their brand. It was now after 5pm. A google maps search led me to this Miners Ace hardware. The associate immediately filled me with additional CPVC knowledge as he escorted me directly to the source of my search stayed long enough to offer me a couple suggestions and politely went on his way. HOW AWESOME WAS THAT! I FOUND REAL PROS AT MINERS. I didnt spend much on my 1st visit. But as a new lifetime patron. My initial experience is the reason that I will spend thousands before it is all said and done!!!Im giving Miners in SLO an A+ in every category!!!!THANKS FOR YOUR PROFESSIONALISM FOLKS~👍👍👍👍👍 🙏 🤝~

Got some awesome plants for our new back yard. I like waiting for the sales before I buy too much. They always have great sale promotions. They’re often enough that you can always stock up! They also know a lot about the plants and can give you lots of tips. I wanted a couple pink bower vines and they got on and ordered them right away. You don’t pay until they come in. Great customer service.

This is my favorite hardware store in the area although it is really set up for non-professional customers. For multiple quick trips each week, it can be frustrating to get through the narrow aisles stacked with stuff and lingering employees in personal conversations. But they still have better selection and stock than the box store. And it is still usually quicker even with the frustrations.

This is a very nice hardware store as well as Garden Supply Center. The people are older and knowledgeable and very helpful. They have a wide selection decent prices and if you buy bulk Goods you can pay for them and they will load them right in your car. This is a great place to come for your Hardware needs especially if you need help deciding on something.

Every time I visit Miners is a pleasure. They certainly dont always have what I am looking for, but for their size, they are wonderful. Their garden department is really good, and I love that they work with a local charity, Transitions Mental Health Association, to get many of their native plants. They do good things in our community, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

I love this place. Pretty sure its the layout, staff and pricing. Ive never once had a bad encounter with a staff member, they are all super friendly and no matter what random project youre working on, someone there can explain it and tell you the tools you will need. Theres a total plant nerd that works there (and I mean that as the highest compliment) and she can tell you anything about any plant anywhere, and what care to give them - plus free popcorn, its just the greatest hardware store ever!

I came into Miners the other day to get some hardware for my skateboard when a man named Ellery went above and beyond to assist me while I was there. All I needed was some bolts for my deck and he proceeded to help install them and helped me install new bearings in my wheels. I was throughly impressed and thankful that he not only assisted but taught me how to service my board myself. Definitely provided next level service so thank you Ellery!

I have yet to have a bad experience at this store. So many people have helped me here and I feel bad Im not sharing all of their names, but Jeff was the most recent to prove great customer service still exists. I asked about a ladder that wasnt in stock and he offered to see if they could transfer it from another store. Within a day he called me back to let me know it had arrived and ready for me. Unless theres some odd reason, I never shop at a different store simply because the people there are so wonderful. Thank you to all of you!

What an amazing place. Its like a friendly corner Hardware place, but grown out of the barn, so they built other buildings, and its sort of this adventure of the wood is in the barn, the plumbing is in this other building, paints are over there, and plants are this jungle connecting them all together. Definitely a bit overwhelming, but lots of friendly people to guide you to your next item. Will definitely be a regular.

Miner’s prices tend to be slightly higher than the big box stores. But you may actually save money and time. They usually have just what you need—even if you aren’t sure what it is—will help you find it, explain how it’s used, and/or explain how to install it. Over the years, this great service has saved me money, frustration, and multiple return trips. Even though the store is smaller than the Depot, in some areas like hardware their selection is actually larger. Highly recommended.

1. Had a issue with a broken item. The manager was not very receptive or kind at all. Said he fixed it, then I took it home and it broke again within 5 minutes. Went back and they seemed annoyed that I returned it2. Asked for assistance with a plant an employee was unresponsive as well. Acted like I was bothering her for asking.*I will not go back to this store!!!*There we’re two employees that went out of there was to smile and be kind (that’s why I provide 2 stars - for them)!

This place embodies why I moved to SLO over a decade ago. Sure Miners/ACE is a franchise but I challenge you to find another hardware store even another ACE where people are more interested in helping you. If you dont go in there and get have someone there ask you if you need any help, you may want to check a mirror to see if youre invisible. That open-hearted way embodies the spirit up here but its concentrated in Miners. Ive bought more tools, odds and ends than I can count there. I bought my Weber Grill there. All of my garden is from sprouts I purchased there. Ive gotten an insane amount of gardening advice from them. I once had a guy help me find a pluming fitting for the better part of 40 minutes. This particular ACE is full of interesting and strange character that I love, some of it in structures Im pretty sure are well over 100 years old and may have at one time been a residence in their former life. But again, its the people in this store that keep me coming back. 5 Stars, well earned.

We shop at miners all the time. They are a great local hardware store and are generally is competitively priced as an independent operator can be.They have a full selection of nuts and bolts including grade 8 hardware and many other metric and Specialty Fasteners that will be hard to find anywhere else in town.If you compare their prices to Fastenal it will seem like a cheap date.We are lucky to have minors in town for if we didnt have them we would only have Home Depot.

I went to Ace for their paint department with a picture of the color I wanted for my living room. Their staff was kind enough to spend the better part of an hour helping me find the exact color. They even went through their old color books with me and handpicked my living room color! They went way above and beyond in customer service and because of that Ill never go anywhere else.

Attention! Subject to update - We had some keys made here and they didnt work. Okay not the biggest issue, kind of annoying to go back but thats okay, they were very helpful. Second time going in we were guaranteed the keys would work, they even gave us an extra (they still didnt work, extra key didnt even fit in hole) So for the third trip to the store I really hope we get this taken care of properly, I will definitely update this rating to reflect the typical 5 star experience we have there!

A hardware store but the real attraction is the huge garden center. Tons of indoor and outdoor plants- a huge selection of veggies, trees, decorative plants, ground cover, succulents and cacti. Probably about 50% of the store area is plants and they always look healthy and in good condition.

Asked a young employee, Bohde, what I needed to clear clogged drain in my RV sink. He said plumbing wasnt his area of expertise, but instead of just directing me to the plumbing section he showed me the way, pointed out Mark, a plumbing expert, and stayed with us while Mark asked me some questions about my sink and the stoppage to help him decide what would work best for me from among Miners incredible array of drain-clearing supplies (gels, plungers, metal snakes, etc). Mark then recommended an inexpensive Drano gel, which worked perfectly.These guys were definitely on my side, treating me with my $5.00 problem as if I were spending $500. I sure know where to go in the future whenever I need some hardware.

A bit lackluster...I usually shop at the Los Osos or Morro Bay Miners, both of which offer superb customer service. After paying at checkout and being told someone would load the potting soil for me, I waited by the gate and....nobody. I opened the garden center gate and after looking for help for several minutes further, I finally loaded my bags of potting soil onto a cart and wheeled it to my car; I never did see anybody to help. Very odd. Good thing I am an honest person.

These guys always have what you need, but several employees I spoke to over the weekend in the irrigation department could not help me find what I needed, and seemed to lack any experience in irrigation, I had to look myself until I found what I needed. Additionally, my wife made a trip over to purchase a couple of 3-inch ABS Coupler slip/slip, and slip/threaded, and clean-out cap, and a 7-inch long cut piece if 3-inch ABS Pipe. You would not believe the assortment of odd item the employee picked out for my wife, then he argued with my wife about cutting the pipe.

I went there yesterday and their plants were so dehydrated they were dying. I actually found a watering can and tried to save some of the worst. I was so disappointed to see such neglect! There were literally dried up dead houseplants and outdoor plants. Needless to say I didnt buy anything. I hope this review will lead to some changes in the garden department

Its extremely insensitive that youre marketing and profiting off of the 20th anniversery of the tradgedy of 9/11 by not only offering a gimmicky 20% sale to match the anniversery year, but then have your Super sale sign be surrounded in an explosion effect. Im sure the family and friends of the victims of 9/11 really appreciate a hardware store profiting off of their loved ones death while said company mocks the event with comical explosion effects to give that underhanded idea that its an explosive sale. You should all be asahmed of yourselves. Im taking this to all social media platforms, then maybe after the backlash and decline in public image in sales youll understand its completely unacceptable to mock the deaths of thousands of people. I just had the most delightful shopping experience at Miners Ace Hardware in San Luis Obispo. Kevin in the lumber section was most helpful -- he offered suggestions for completing a project that I was working on, cut the lumber that I needed, and loaded it in my car -- all with a smile on his face, and most excellent manners. To the owners of Ace Hardware in San Luis Obispo -- you have a wonderful staff, but I just have to let you know that Kevin deserves recognition for the way he treats your customers! I am a frequent patron here.Sometimes Im at Ace 3 or 4 times a week due to my profession.They usually have what Im looking for and have great customer service.They save me a lot of time by not having to go to the Home Depot where service is almost non- existant.

Staff is friendly, but the selection is primarily basic. If anything specialized is required, this is not the place to find it. They had almost everything I was looking for. No complaints.

Needed a replacement valve cassette for the kithen faucet. They had the part and staff helped us locate a couple of orings we needed too. And they gave us useful advice on using silicone grease to lubricate.

Miners is the place I go for my dyi projects. 5 stars. Today wss disappointing. Went to store to find an electrical plug. Looked for staff to help me but no one was around. After 5 minutes, I gave up and left.
