Deserted yet beautiful! A stroll or run by the water, with views of San Francisco on one side and the shipping yard on the other. Soothing sounds of water all along. The occasional ships and boats of all sizes are nice to watch. Historical information displayed at multiple places is fascinating. Plenty of parking, picnic areas, and restrooms.

Its lovely to stroll along the bay with a view of the SF skyline & Bay Bridge. Hardly anyone there late morning/ early afternoon. Lots of geese & gosslings as well as ground squirrels everywhere. Nice little pier with a couple of people fishing. Has a picnic area, restrooms & plenty of parking. A bit of a hidden gem!

Fantastic view of the San Francisco skyline. Several lookout points. The park is surrounded by containers. Drive carefully because of those huge trucks. Ample parking lots. Not crowded at all on a Thursday morning. Well maintained restroom. A big BBQ area. Can be windy at times.

It is a beautiful place to visit. Plenty of open space with amazing views of the peninsula. Walking trails with plenty of grass, and theres a tower structure for viewing. Its pretty large so you can walk up a few flights of stairs to a deck with benches and a beautiful view of Treasure Island, San Francisco and much more. Theres a pier at the end with a small park and a play structure for children. It even has a small beach if you walk down the center pavement and across the grass, youll reach a small sandy beach. Theres no lifeguards so please be safe. Theres always security presence in white trucks during open hours its generally a safe atmosphere. Theres male and female restrooms with changing tables and running water. Theyre cleaned daily, so besides the occasional vandals that use up all the paper, and try to make a mess, its pretty clean.

My grandfather served on the USS Oakland during WWII. Hes since passed, but the mast is a reminder of his sacrifice and heroism. They truly were the Greatest Generation.

A review from amom2kidsandapark.comLocated on the tip of the Oakland shipping area, between the Bay Bridge and Alameda, is a large open area with trails, coves, wild animals (lots of geese!), picnic spots, an observation tower for even better elevated views (stairs. no elevator), and a “ghost building”.The land is the site of the previous Oakland Naval Supply Depot which was an important supply center for the Navy’s Pacific Fleet during WWII through 1998. The “ghost building” can be seen by the varying cement “paths” throughout the land (and even in the parking lot), out of place walls, and zig zag paths.Swimming is not allowed especially because the drop off from the shore is very sudden and very deep. It was previously dredged to allow room for naval ships.Don’t miss the white dolphin sculpture on the shoreline near the platform path. If you come during lunch you may get to see some sea birds finding their meal via some unlucky mussels.While the view of the city is amazing, a take minute to observe the massive shipping containers and cranes in action or the various types of boats heading into the bay from Jack London.Fishing is allowed.There is plenty of parking. The parking closest to the observation tower is handicap only. There are bathrooms at the observation tower and near the parking lot.

Very nice park to view the San Francisco skyline from east bay.If you visit during the day you can also watch series of trucks lined up to get into Oakland harbor. Parking places are limited. Great place to photograph city skyline during sunset.

Great views, easy to find and plenty of parking. Happy that there was also a taco truck available with food and drinks.The only complaint I have is not about the park itself...it is that people who bring their dogs need to clean up after them because there was way too much poop in the grassy areas, making it unsanitary to sit on the grass or to let small children play there.

This little park is tucked right up next to the Oakland International Container Terminal on the West Side. When the truckers are queued up to enter the terminal, they can sometimes block the entry and one could easily be forgiven for missing the turn. A fishing buddy claims that this is a great spot for halibut, sturgeon and possibly even bass. I havent had any luck yet, but this little park is a gem.Parking is less than convenient, but a multi-million dollar view of San Francisco and a quiet place to fish and take in that skyline is worth the walk.

Whenever I unload at the docks I always make a trip to this harbor. Its very small and Everytime Ive been there not super busy. Great view of San Francisco. There is some viewing scopes for a view of the city and they are free. And worked pretty good. There is also a small pier on the other side of the harbor that you can fish on. Its a bit of a walk though. Very pretty small sand beach and some Rocky shore line. Always a favorite spot of mine to visit when I got to Oakland. And also fishing off any pier in California is free you dont need a fishing license.

This park has it all, from the SF skyline, to the abundant wildlife, to the giant shipping cranes. I particularly enjoy visiting in the spring when you can find Canada geese babies (Branta canadensis), and their nests (just dont harass them!) PLUS, theres even a Pokemon gym along the harbor! What more could I ask for!?(Unfortunately, I must dock one star because I really wish Tony Maloney or whoever the owner is would come out and join me for a beer one of these days, considering how much time I spend here watching the birbs. That would truly complete my experience).

Bellas vistas, geese con gosling familias, half step warning signals sounding, Puerto actividad, NO (or very few) PEOPLE to have to avoid, bay breezes clearing the air y SPACE, outdoors, en natura, cerca del agua to breathe freely. Bellísima.Update 022022: Still a lovely, spacious, expansive place for a long walk around the perimeter. Peaceful, refreshing way to take at least 6k steps, with lots to absorb and notice along the way. Late afternoon on a cloudy or partially sunny, cool weekend day sparsely populated.

I cant say much about the park itself as I had my focus on the this crazy lit show going on. However if its large enough to accommodate this many people Im sure its nice and large. The seabreeze can get chilly for those who are thinking about bringing a jacket around the afternoon, it wont hurt.

Great view with no crowds, plenty of space to distance, nice path along the water, easy parking. Good spot for flying kites, walking, biking, and just hanging out. There are bathrooms, and they were open, though I didnt enter them. You wont find much shade at all here. There are picnic tables too.

Its a little known out of the way getaway from the city. Tucked in the Port between cranes and massive container ships with a clear view of San Francisco, Alameda, and beyond. Theres a lot of space but it is somewhat run down at the moment but not much different from many other parks. Youre close to the outer harbor fishing pier and other fishing opportunities.

Really happy to find this park, hidden past the freeways with wonderful, serene views. Theres lots of places to walk and bike, but be careful when traveling to the park on foot- theres lots of truck traffic and no sidewalks in spots. Lots of picnic tables and spaces to sit and enjoy, plus little booths with info about the area. Perfect place for a lazy afternoon!

NO DOGS ALLOWED!Zero stars is deserved for the dog discrimination. First off the website stated dogs allowed. After roaming for a dog park all day in the Alameda area we found a nice empty low trigger area. We were greeted by the lovely no dogs allowed discriminating signage again! Keep in mind I keep all my dogs on a heal position when others are around and pick up after them as well being respectful of the area and any potential wildlife. At this point I was so sick of being discriminated towards no dogs anywhere except on the sidewalks so that all dogs can be triggered with each other for the close proximity. At this point my elder GSD was in need of a pee break due to being cooped up in the car for hours. He’s a partial disabled fella. So I had to let him out. I was then greeted by a worker in a white Toyota pickup truck immediately and told me no dogs allowed! Without even answering why or anything he snailed down to the non designated area where a car isn’t even allowed on to act busy. Let us all be reminded that these employees are human and should present themselves in that manner. So to just ignore others and not appreciating your job is supplied by the tax payer. It is a great reminder for us all to be more respectful and not ignore other let alone lack any empathy for a senior dog who need a peepee break.Hope this gentleman is appreciated we weren’t the wrong type of people who could have inflicted serious actions towards him for being how he was as he was at the very least deserving of a can of whoop a$$.

This is an exceptionally cool park. It is nestled in the heavy industrial area of west Oakland, and it literally provides you with a view of the huge offloading cranes we see from the Freeway, as they remove the huge railcars/containers that these magnificent ships deliver.There is also an offering of winged wildlife, i.e., Storks, Herons, Geese, Mallards, and others. Lest I forget, there are also Ground Squirrels bounding around the fields.The views of the Bay are magnificent, and there is an elevated observation deck with decent telescopes (FREE TO USE!) and very enjoyable walking paths. There are clean restrooms and even a shower available to visitors.If youre at all intrigued by the significant work going on over in Oaklands Pier, you owe it to yourself to ride over to Middle Harbor.

Good experience. We were on a school field trip (our second one here) and it was a good experience. The views are nice and you can see boats and ferries going by, it was nice. Would be a good place to bring binoculars to also, to see the tall cranes, and far out to the San Francisco coast line. Anyways a nice place to go check out. Also this is an industrial area so there are a lot of big rigs and machinery and movement so pay attention when driving and be cautious.

Passing through Okland, I was offered to go through this park. I had been warned that there were no large trees and that the grass would be sad for lack of water. Two tunnels further, in a maritime container nowhere, what a magnificent discovery well on the yellow grass no big trees .but an incredible view on oakland and San Francisco. well-marked paths with informative panels on the fauna and flora. the incredible work of the inhabitants to preserve this habitat and the gratitude to those who fought to preserve it for future generations. Congratulations to you people of oakland. Without forgetting the genius of the battalion of engineers of the American army.

A U-shaped park built on the site of a Naval Supply Depot and two ferry terminals for freight, cars and passengers in the era before the Bay Bridge. Just about all of that has gone, but in its place is a beautiful (and still being developed) area with lots of shore birds, picnic areas, an observation tower, and even a small museum with displays about the history of the Middle Harbor. Great views of the city, and I also found it fun to watch the loading and unloading of ships in the two active freight operations just a stones throw away.

I liked this place. Great views of the city and water traffic. You can walk over and have a close viewing angle of the big container cranes loading and unloading ships. Tons of shorebirds to check out and many places to fish as well. Youll need a fishing licence if over 18. Be warned, it will be breezy in the late afternoons if not earlier. There are bathrooms available and trails for bikes or foot with markers displaying historical information. Enjoy.

I havent been here in months...I dont live far but wanted to use restroom and was highly disappointed at lack of attention paid to the restroom. There was only one decent toilet but there wasnt and tissue so I used seat cover for a wiping. Views are always nice especially on a clear day. Get it together City of Oakland. 😒

This little remote sanctuary is perfect if you just want to take a shoreline walk time out from the day or appreciate the ships going by. A little bit of tranquility surrounded by industry. Confusing AF afterhours parking lot exit, its very hidden and small but the park itself is vast much much more vast that the parking lot could ever want to be. There are orange cones some places for cone toss, theres a guy with a strange drone but instead of propellers it has rubber wheel like things and it zooms along the ground and tries to fly by launching off a small ramp which it always fails at, the owner must feel so ashamed

Though its scorched at this time of year it hardly matters as the big feature here is the spectacular views of San Fran. We arrived at low tide and were treated to sightings of lots of shorebirds: brown pelicans, curlews, dowitchers, a lone black-necked stilt, a pair of killdeer and flocks of peeps. Plenty of parking and paths for walking (surface rough in places) and cycling. Should be a hit with youngsters too, seeing the container ships at the docks as well as private motor and sailboats on the channel. On a fine day its definitely worth a visit.

Great views, lots of good birding, a nice place to experience the Bays beauty juxtaposed against the marvel of the Bay Bridge, The Port of Oakland and the San Francisco skyline. We like bringing the kids here because there is lots of room to run around, bike, and explore the shore. Be prepared for windy conditions and for miscellaneous nasty bits of trash, but beyond that a awesome place to visit.

An amazing place to watch the ships roll in: it feels like you could almost reach out and touch them! Good place to fly your drone, just dont go over the port. Kind of a long boring ride to get there but worth the trip from time to time.

This park is Oaklands best kept secret. During COVID the group picnic areas are blocked off, but there are still plenty of benches to rest on if you like. Flat, well maintained trails (some wheelchair accessible) and spectacular views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, and the Port of Oakland.Parking is plentiful and the bathroom facilities have been staying open and serviced during COVID, with flush toilets and running water - pretty good for a park public bathroom. Because its a lesser known park and not accessible via public transit, it tends not to be crowded at all.

This is a great park to walk or watch the container ships come & go. Just be sure to keep to sidewalks since the goose poop is pretty thick & slippery on the grass. There is plenty of security to keep the park safe. It does close at dusk.

Simply one of the finest outdoor areas not just in Oakland but in entire the Bay Area.I regularly jog here. Great view of the San Francisco bay and San Francisco. You have the port of Oakland ships being loaded on the South end which is way cool, you have the Baybridge view, view of Oakland, all simply spectacular.Picnic benches, barbecue areas, entertainment areas, biking it has a a bit of everything. Kids love it.

For many years after this park opened in 2006 I rode my bike out here and spent many a solitary moment writing poetry and soaking in the sunset, a point of inspiration tucked at the edge of industrial west oakland. Nowadays many more people know of it and its good to see the space be enjoyed by young and old. This space has been designated as a bird sanctuary and attempt to restore natural habitat along the greatly diminished marshland of the Pacific flyway. Unfortunately some people bring their dogs here and let them run around and chase the birds including young birds that are unable to fly. Point Isabel is a beautiful dog park on the bay where your dog is free to run off leash.

Pretty waterfront park and picnic area in an otherwise stark industrial landscape. There are some interesting info panels that tell the history of the area and describes some of the Port activities. Views include container shipping areas with the iconic Port of Oakland cranes all around. The grass dies here by early June, so its kinda brown in the hotter part of the year. We saw security personnel on patrol in a vehicle, who completely missed two cars driving into clearly marked pedestrian park be areas where lots of kids were riding bikes.

This park is kinda cool you get to see trucks offloading their cargo containers through the fence and there is a structure that allows you to see all around the area but they only get 3 stars because they don’t allow dogs. Really great venue. Get there early for parking though. That does fill up quickly. Uber and Lyft are used HEAVILY after a show so be prepared to leave early or stand in a line for a long long time for a driver. Or drive yourself.

Well it has a great view, but I wouldnt recommend this place. Its way down by the port which is not the nicest area and the park is really small. If you happened to be by the ship berths then check it out, but beforehand ask yourself do I really need to be in this part of town?

Very pleasant park to chill and watch the giant shops unload cargo from around the world. Lot of car thefts given all the broken glass in the parking area so watch your stuff.

Its a real shame that Oakland is halting events at this location, as it was the perfect spot for multiple music festivals Ive attended over the past couple of years. Not only did you get some of the best views of the San Francisco skyline, the weather is much warmer than your typical San Francisco day. I hope this park will be cleared for use in the near future!

Cool little park with a great view of the ships coming and going from the Port of Oakland. There are also alot of recreational sailing and power vessels transiting through the area. You may also see United States Coast Guard vessels and various police boats.

Great park with good views of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco. There are some picnic tables and some easy trails around that area. Head south and climb onto the lookout tower. It gives you great views and lots of information about the area.
