My husband and I hired Jonathan to convert part of our home and garage into a separate granny flat for my elderly parents. This was a project that was important to me and my family - we wanted a granny flat that felt like a lovely welcoming home, not a slapped together ADU. We are thrilled that we hired Jonathan as our contractor. Jonathan takes pride in his work and business. He pays attention to all the little details, has a great eye, makes helpful & honest suggestions, and he does not cut corners ever. He also knew all the ADA compliant codes so that door openings, showers, etc were accessible by wheelchair for my father. The end result was high quality, beautiful, and polished. Jonathan designed a layout that feels open and spacious - and managed to fit in a great room with kitchen, two bedrooms, two full baths, walk in closet, and laundry room - everything on my parents wish list! My parents and family could not be happier with the end result. The transition from their previous huge home into this gorgeous new space has been seamless. Remodeling is stressful and hectic - but Jonathan was always available and truly made us feel like we were his only client. I had endless questions for him and he always responded quickly and patiently with thorough explanations. We will always use Metropolis for any remodeling needs!

We first met Jonathan in October 2021 right around the time that we were closing on our current condo. As we had been living in this home, and renting, for about 2 years, we had already had some ideas brewing about the updates we wanted to make. When Jonathan came over for a consultation, we walked him through what we wanted to do in our kitchen and bathrooms and he let us know the best way to go about this. He took measurements when he was there so he was prepared to answer future questions over the phone or email.We sent him a few ideas of the design that we were looking for in each room. So after giving us a thoroughly drafted quote and a timeline (6-8 weeks for completion!), he also sent us links for items we could purchase ahead of time in order to be able to stick to the timeline as closely as possible - nothing frustrates a contractor like having to pause their project because they’re wait for items to still come in!I was so impressed that Jonathan took time to bring me to multiple stores. He took time to show me different tiles and countertop materials that were aligned with the design ideas I initially sent him. This was a very different (and much more pleasant!) experience than a previous contractor who just directed me to websites to pick out floor/ tile materials and then I was left on my own to choose, with little to no guidance.We scheduled Jonathan to have his team start on demo work while we were going to be out of town. This step of the process went surprisingly quickly! I will say that it’s not the easiest to live through a remodel (if you have the money or could go somewhere else for the entirety of it, that would be ideal). But, with that said, his team was beyond respectful of our space and they carefully sealed off the areas they were working on and covered the floors, so as to limit the dust and debris as best as possible.Jonathan left us paint samples to choose from for wall color and cabinet colors. Narrowing down which “white” to use on walls is a task in itself and I was relieved that Jonathan was able to narrow down my choices to only 2 or 3 colors (again, based on pictures I had sent). The white we ultimately chose looks beautiful and fresh in our west and south facing bathrooms!The final outcome of his team’s work was perfection. Everything came together beautifully and we couldn’t be happier with the results! (His tile guy does impeccable work - so impressed!) Take a look at the pictures that I attached and see for yourself! Jonathan and his team are nothing short of amazing. They are an absolute pleasure to work with! From the moment we met him, we knew that our home and finances would be in excellent hands. We liked him so much that we didnt even interview any other contractors/architects (which is pretty risky given that we were doing a pretty major home renovation: we turned our kitchen into a bedroom, knocked down walls and needed 2 21-foot support beams, built an entirely new kitchen and redid the floors in the entire home).Our gut instincts were spot-on, and thankfully, Jonathan was every bit as wonderful to work with as he seemed that first day. He was very involved in the process and came pretty much daily to check on the quality of the work. Hes trustworthy, caring, responsive, thorough, and just a really great guy to have around. My kids LOVED him, and still ask about him at times. Speaking of kids, we have 3 very small children and lived in the house during almost the entire remodel, and Jonathan worked out a plan so that we would have a functional kitchen throughout. Shockingly, everything went as planned... he was ON SCHEDULE or even ahead of schedule, almost the entire time. I think the only time we got pushed back a few days unexpectedly was from rain.One of the things that I most appreciated about Jonathan is his attention to detail and very high standards. In fact, on several instances Jonathan made his team redo some of the work (i.e. repaint our entire ceiling), because he felt it didnt meet his standards, even though I hadnt noticed any imperfection until he pointed it out. I dont think many contractors operate that way.At one point we travelled abroad for 2 weeks... My husband was super-nervous about being away while the hardwood floors were being done, and Jonathan seriously went above and beyond to keep us in the loop and involved every day. The best way to describe what a genuinely good man Jonathan is: on the day we came back, he spent over an hour helping my dad re-construct all of our kids cribs (thats 3 cribs) just so that theyd be ready for naptime when we got back from our trip.I was dreading the home renovation process, especially since most of my friends have had an incredibly stressful time with their projects. I think my husband and I are rarities because we actually enjoyed the process, and I know thats 90% because of what an amazing contractor Jonathan is, and how smooth he made the process. He and his team are truly exceptional in every way!!

We just finished a project with Metropolis and had a great experience. We decided to add on a master suite (~400 sq. ft.) to our existing home. We received quotes from multiple contractors and chose Metropolis because of their eye for design, competitive price and great attitude. The project was far from simple but Jonathan managed each step effectively and kept us informed throughout the whole process. His design aesthetic was a huge plus and something that we found lacking in other contractors. Our bathroom is absolutely beautiful and my favorite part of the addition. He recommended herringbone wall tile and pattered floor tile that made the bathroom Pinterest worthy! Also, he was always professional and was very accommodating at meeting with us at odd hours due to our work schedules. We also welcomed our first child in the middle of the project (!) and Jonathan and his crew were always respectful of our time and space once the baby was home. Overall, we are thrilled with the addition and grateful to Jonathan for making it happen.

We are incredibly happy with the work Metropolis Drafting & Construction did for us in early 2018. Ray and Jonathan managed our project with professionalism and ease. They stuck to the budget and timeline! They fixed things that were not up to their standard and they were incredibly transparent throughout the whole process. We feel incredibly fortunate to have chosen them for our remodel. We have recommended them to friends and neighbors and we would hire them again!

We recently finished up our ADU project with Jonathan in Monrovia. We were very impressed with his assessment of the property during the bidding process. We had several contractors come out but none of them were as knowledgable about the code and requirements for completing the work. His estimate was realistic which was great for our financial planning. Not only that, but Jonathan handled everything with the city. We both work full time and the permitting process/working with the city was something we really did not want to deal with and were worried would require a lot of back and forth. To us this process went seamlessly as Jonathan addressed all communications with the city. All we had to do was visit city hall one time to sign some paperwork after the ADU was built, and even for that Jonathan addressed the hassle of getting an appointment set up.It was important to us that our ADU was built with attention to detail as the intended residents are my parents, who are to say the least, picky. Jonathan handled all of their questions and concerns. He carefully navigated having basically two sets of clients between my parents and my husband and I. He helped them pick out materials, was patient, and responsive. If there was anything that they did not like or any issues arose, Jonathan addressed it ASAP.We are very pleased with the results and excited to have a wonderful home for my parents to retire in.

I have done a number of construction projects in my day and working with Jonathan and his company was the EASIEST and SMOOTHEST process of them all. I love that Metropolis Drafting and Construction is a one stop shop! Jonathan takes care of everything from the design, to the permits, and the construction. His attention to detail and his dedication to every project puts you at ease when working through a stressful project. Jonathan gutted and completely redesigned our master suit and built an ensuite for our daughter. He also completely redesigned and built and new built-in for us in our living room, which we LOVE! We love all the work Jonathan and his team has done and we will use him for all our future construction needs. His work is high quality and thoughtful and is eye for design is super helpful when picking tile, stone, etc. We cant recommend them enough! We bid our recent project, a remodel of a 2 bedroom 1 bath home in Silverlake, to multiple contractors. Jonathan was the last contractor to see the home. Because we simply didnt need anyone else to see the place after he came in. The second I met him I knew he was the person to take over and manage the project. Before we even stepped into the home, he pointed out a complex and symmetrical and intricate spider web outside on our porch. I just knew he had the kind of attention to detail we needed. He was the only person to reimagine the space in a way we wanted but nobody before could do. His background as both an accomplished and skilled architect and contractor helped tremendously. He had a beautiful and thoughtful idea to transform our 2 bedroom 1 bath home into a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home without even needing to increase square footage. He kept our cost minimal and he was able to bring immense value to our home. Design, planning, and pulling permits promptly with incredible ease to start the project? Check, check, and check!Now off to the demo and construction! Impeccable and quality workmanship. We love how the home feels. Its not just an esthetic feeling, but we can feel the solid foundation and flooring when we walk through. We loved all the design recommendations for paint, cabinets, flooring, etc. I think almost everything Jonathan suggested, we were sold. He has a true eye for modern design and esthetics. He stuck to our timeline and truly delivered with stunning results. One thing about Jonathan is he is a great communicator. We have dealt with many setbacks during prior remodeling/construction projects, and its inevitable. But one thing we truly appreciate about Jonathan is he doesnt just come to you with the problem, but he already has the solution or multiple solutions. This was a very low stress project for us because of Jonathans calm, meticulous, and detail-oriented approach to reimagining and transforming our space. We couldnt be more happy with the results.

We are very happy with the work that Jonathan and his team did on our renovation. We did a pretty big overhaul of our kitchen and living area, as well as a bathroom. It involved taking down a wall and putting up new beams, etc. It was a big project and stressful at times, but Jonathan was very attuned and responsive whenever we had concerns or questions. The work is very high quality and he was always aware of our budget constraints, helping us achieve something we are very happy with. We lived in our house during the renovation and got first hand exposure to all of his crew. They were always respectful and friendly, and very conscientious. We will definitely be working with Jonathan again on our next project.

Whats the main takeaway?I HIGHLY recommend Metropolis for your next project!Why?- Omri was our project lead and provided both the best customer service as well as fantastic quality work.- They were wonderfully professional, very communicative, immensely respectful (to me, my husband, and our home), and always helpful.- The quality of work is excellent. Omri made sure that each teams work was careful, clean, and complete.What credibility do I have?My professional background is a Producer (in games and live experiences). I often meet with and hiring different vendors or companies for skilled jobs and projects. Whenever I look for someone for a project, personally or professionally, I really value experience, communication, and integrity.So what?This was my first time doing a home remodel project and didnt know what I didnt know. So when I first spoke with Jonathan (the owner) on the phone to set up an initial meeting and met Omri in person for the first project meeting, I knew I had to find someone who would 1) listen to what I wanted, 2) collaborate with me to improve upon my ideas, and 3) educate me in the process along the way.Omri and his team delivered 100% throughout the whole project. In person, text, or phone call, Omri always answered our questions. If he didnt know, hed find out. We felt like our project was a priority to Metropolis.
