If I could give 10 stars I would. Scheduling service is very easy, and Mels was able to come out to my home the same day I called. This was for my yearly summer maintenance and I thought I just needed some freon.Michael did a very thorough inspection and found my capacitor needed to be replaced before it went completely out. He also did a complete cleaning of the unit. Checked the freon and it was fine. He came inside and checked temps at my vents and air intake and my a/c is running like new again. Michael is our favorite tech. He is so professional and very thorough.We trust Mels and have always received great service. We would not use any other company. They treat us as valued customers.Want to give a shout-out to the office team as well. They are so helpful and kind.

Air conditioner went out, 110* outside. Air conditioning company that was doing maintenance on my unit told me it would be 2 weeks until they can see my unit. My wife called and spoke with Noel. In the time that it took me to get to Home Depot and buy 2 window units Noel was at my house and got the unit going. We were so impressed with the service, we had Mel’s install a brand new unit and do duct work the next week. They were done in 2 days kept everything clean and left with my house feeling like an ice box. Best customer service ever. Thank you

They saved my family, house, and money as the person who installed my split unit less than a year ago did so carelessly.Mel’s Heating & Air’s professionalism and experience is far above the rest. You never feel like there might be strangers in your house. Their trucks and vans are marked. Before the technicians enter the home they send a picture and profile of them so that you have an idea of who is entering your home.The following day after requesting an estimate, Robert, a very experienced technician, thoroughly assessed and reviewed the issues with me. On the day it was fixed both Robert and Danipal were respectful of the house, surrounding houses, informative, and receptive to many questions. It was tested and ran for a while before they left.Needless to say, they will be my first and only call as well as the only company I recommend.

Air conditioner wasn’t working on hottest days of year. I called my usual air conditioning company and was given an appointment for 7 days later! Called Mel’s and technician Michael came out next day. It was a very easy fix thankfully. I will now be using Mel’s for my routine heater/air conditioning checkups.So appreciate this company.

Mels responded the same day to our request for service! Noel came out and diagnosed the issue. I did not realize he was the owner of Mels until after the service call. He normally does estimates. The fact that he was willing to do the service call himself spoke highly of his dedication to his company and customers. He went back to the office got the necessary part and fixed our issue that afternoon! We will call them again in the future- service was 5 star!

In early February, I contacted Noel at Mel’s Heat & Air to discuss replacing my 22yr old water heater and at the same time, installing a new whole house water filtration system.I have never had a whole house water filtration system before but I knew that I needed one because over the past several months my home in Turlock has begun to reek of chlorine. The City of Turlock’s annual water quality report says that our water is safe, but safe for whom? If it smells like you’re using swimming pool water to rinse your dishes, if you’re breathing chlorine vapor while you take a shower, if your skin has become dry and flaky, and if you feel that you need to use bottled water to make a good-tasting cup of coffee….then the tap water is definitely NOT healthy, especially for young children, the elderly, and those with health concerns.I know many folks who are unhappy with the heavily chlorinated water in Turlock but no one seems to know where to get a whole house water filtration system installed at a fair price from a reliable company.I’m so glad that I called Mel’s Heat & Air for a free estimate. I was very pleased with the quality of service I received from Mel’s team: Noel, Robert, Danny and Elroy. They were knowledgeable, professional, and clearly took pride in their work. From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with them!Immediately after Mel’s installed my whole house 6yr/600,000 gallon water filtration system the odor of chlorine was removed from my house water and the chemical smell is now gone from my home. Can not thank Mels enough for coming out and servicing our AC unit.Went out of town and came back to a hot house with no AC Saturday night. Gave them a call Sunday which they got back to me quick, offered to come out for an emergency fee(weekend call) but i opted to wait til Monday. Monday came, and their Tech Michael arrived on time, was a chill dude, quick and professional. 5 Stars!***Update 01/10/24Once again Noel and Michael came to the rescue!Woke up to a busted Heater not pumping air, house freezing so I called Mels and spoke with Noel. He listended to my problem and was able to send out Michael the Tech within a few hours. Michael showed me the broken Motherboard and had one on hand to repair it. All in all, 10 out of 10 great service.

UPDATE— Make that five times! This time for our annual AC check and a thermostat replacement. Mel’s and Michael are the best!We have used Mel’s four times, once for the AC and three times for the heating. Their service is prompt and competent, and Michael our repair person is thorough and very helpful in providing advice about what the problem is and how to prevent it from happening again. We feel strongly that we have found a company that we can trust with our repair work and this is very important to us. We would not call anyone else.

A hot Friday evening in July our air conditioning stopped working. Since it was a weekend I tried calling some 24/7 air conditioner repair companies I knew but no one got back to me at all. Saturday morning I got worried i knew it was going to be one of the hottest days of the year so I googled 24/7 repair companies in our area and I saw Mel’s Heating and Air. It was 6am when I called expecting to have to leave a message but someone answered. He was very polite and I explained I had health issues and he said he would get someone out that morning. He sent me a text with a appointment time between 8-10am. I also received a text when the repair man was on his way. The repair man came and diagnosed the problem and within the hour he had it fixed. The communication and service from the beginning to the end was excellent. The repair man was very knowledgeable and explained in detail what was wrong with our air conditioner and what he repaired. I will use them again and recommend them to anyone.

A few years ago, Mels installed our heating/air conditioning system at a reasonable price. (At the time, some of the quotes we had from other companies were ridiculously high.) My fan motor went out. I originally called Sawyer’s heating and air cause that’s who originally put the unit in. But it wasn’t under warranty anymore and the tech from Sawyer said he couldn’t fix and was more interested in selling me another unit. We had our system go out towards the end of summer and called Mel’s. They were out the next day to help get our unit back up and running temporarily while a new one was ordered (we knew our old one was going to need replacing so that didn’t come as a shock to us). I called and spoke to Noel (i think) on 7-1-23, one of the first hot days in modesto this year. I explained that my AC was not blowing air and told him the conditions around furnace and condenser. Over the phone, He walked me through process to address problem saying he didnt want me to waste paying diagnostic fee since he would only be doing the same steps and waiting around. He promised he would come out next day if problem wasnt fixed. Guess what? I got a working AC thanks to Noel ! He could have easily taken my money or just given me an appointment out a week like other places but, no, he chose to help and it is greatly appreciated. I have had my air conditioner unit serviced by this big company ever since I purchased it from them.The company told me that I needed to upgrade my air conditioner as there was parts going out in it, motor/ freon he said big bucks.Well I decided to get a 2nd opinion so I called Mel’s Heating & Air. I did not give them the details that this other company told me what was wrong, I Called Mel’s Heating & Air they came out with in hours to check the system! Mel’s has a lot of great reviews from happy customers, but unfortunately my recent experience was not good. Last year they serviced my furnace and let me know that I would need to replace a component in the future. They took notes so they would be ready and could have the necessary part when I requested a follow up visit. This year I asked them to come make the noted repair. The serviceman was polite and courteous but let me know that he did not have the correct part and that they would need to get a special, discontinued part for my older unit that would cost $320 instead of the $150 original quote. Assuming he was correct, I agreed. After he replaced the part on his second visit I looked at the new part and noticed that it was a generic component that can easily be purchased for around $100. I contacted Mels’ twice regarding the issue and was eventually told that I could get a 10% discount, about $42. When I brought up the fact that the expensive part I was paying for wasn’t even used I was told that the extra costs were for the extra service call and a trip to Modesto for the generic part. In other words, I was charged almost $200 extra because they didn’t bring the correct part on their first visit. If you’re told that you will need to pay extra for a “special” part, beware.

Every time we have used Mel’s Heating & Air Conditioning we have had fantastic service. The last time we called was a Saturday morning and they were out within the hour for our heater that was making a noise that sounded like a washing machine that was out of balance. After taking out the blower motor he discovered we had a dead rat in our blower! (To our complete surprise) Since my husband was not home at the time Noel, the repair technician, was kind enough to put the rodent in a bag and dispose of it in our trash. The heater was once again working thanks to Mels Heating and Air who repaired our issue quickly and for a reasonable price. We highly recommend them and they are our “go to” business for any heating or air conditioning issues. It’s always nice to use a local business that does a great job!

A relative was referred to Mels by a friend. Needless to say, we were very pleased. Literally called and the same day the technician showed up. Not only showed up, but actually checked out the system and didnt try to sell anything. Imagine that, not trying to sell coils or condensers or vapor lock preventives.When asked if he could install new air filters, he checked them out and said, no need because the filters were in good shape. Needless to say, this is a local business we will be telling people about. A+ service, professional, high quality, value for money, and honest.If you dont use them, thats on you. I called Mel’s because our AC quit in 100 degree weather. They scheduled me for service that same day between 11:00-1:00. They texted me that they were on their way. I was told that I would be given a quote to replace my HVAC system on Monday July 18th. I was never given the quote and had to search out other companies to get the quote and replace the system. I was then billed many months later for the visit because the card reader wasnt working at the time, and it really didnt feel worth it because they didnt hold up their end of the agreement, but I paid because it was still their workers time. Still though, I felt very let down.

We contacted our landlords because our A.C. wasnt working the way it should. They are the ones who called Mel since theyve used him for their other properties and he was out to our house right away. All my future HVAC projects will definitely go to Mel’s Heat & Air.Contacted them when our AC gave up in middle of the evening two weeks ago on a hot day. The real challenge was to fix the AC same day, as we have a new born baby. We had the pleasure to work with Noel when he arrived at 7:30 PM. Within 15 min he identified the problem, however the warehouse that carries the needed spare part was closed. He spent 15 min improvising by trying to obtain the part from other team members that may have the part for future install. Without much luck, he then managed to have the warehouse re-open and made an hour round trip at 8:05 PM to pick up the part. He started installing the part shortly after nine, and was gone by 10 PM. The first repairman found the blower motor was bad. After replacing it, could not get it working. The tech people from Carrier AC company said it was the circuit board. Replaced it, but still could not make the blower work.Finally, the second repairman found it was the thermostat that did not respond to the blower demand.
