I feel grateful for the instruction the womens business center has provided for FREE to me and my community. During this 12 week class I learned and became confident in all aspects of starting and growing my small businesses a sole- proprietor. I am doing the work and feeling so supported by my instructors to further my small business plans. The special guest speakers that were brought on and the personal attention I was given has been truly invaluable. 10/10 would highly recommend.

I walked into the MCSC Womens Business Center to say hello and see what programs were offered. I was greeted by Holly who was extremely kind and personable. I was shocked with how many resources and help they are able to provide at no cost. Being completely new to business and not knowing how to proceed forward on my own, it was a huge relief to know that I am not completely alone on it.

MCSC Womens Business Center has been an invaluable resource for me. The mentors gave me the time I needed to help dial in my goals and true vision for my new business. The course material was thorough and difficult, but thats what I needed to be able to be serious about doing business.

Starting a business can be scary and overwhelming. When I first moved to San Luis Obispo in 2010, I needed to figure out where to begin. So, I searched for resources online and found MCSC and the Womens Business Center. Immediately I felt I had somewhere to go to with any questions I might have about starting a business. Not only did I take the startup training class they offered back then, but I sought expert consulting related to marketing, bookkeeping, as well as technical help. Ive been very involved with this organization since then, as a client and local business supporting its vision and mission to help others share their bigger purpose, serve others, and become leaders in our community. I am still determining what I would have done with the help of this organization and the excellent staff they have always had to support local businesses. Started my own business and they paired me with a mentor with a similar experience! They were an immense help with navigating the paperwork, and gave great advice on things I will need (PoS systems, websites, etc). And entirely at no cost to me!

The center is a great resource for businesses in San Luis Obispo County. Their staff is professional and very helpful. During covid they get me up to date on grant programs available in order to keep my small business open. The support and encouragement from the staff and other small business owners was phenomenal. The Womens Business Center of SLO helped me in so many ways as an entrepreneur. From leaning about different types of business entities to solid and amazing support as my business grew faster and larger (from 6 students and 1 teacher to two centers, 24 staff and the capacity for 120 children)!. I was able to connect with other entities to help support my business in so many ways through WBC! A huge shout out to Jen Dudley for her very personalized support of us. When we first started up, I was at a loss as to how to deal with all of the paperwork and taxes for our enterprise. I was matched with an incredible consultant who has helped us learn how to manage the book keeping and tax end of our nonprofit! We honestly couldnt have done it without the Womens Business Centers help. Knowing that I have someone to call when I have a question has saved me hours of online research and greatly reduced my stress.

I have gone through two business entrepreneurial courses with the MCSC. Earned two rounds of certifications, and they even helped me through a grant process, where I was awarded a grant with this last one!Even in the 4 year gap in between courses, their mentoring never stopped. If I had a question they were just a phone call away, an answer a way, never a… that’s it… always let me find you a resource to help. I will always go to them as a resource of guidance as long as I am an entrepreneur. I highly recommend their organization, and Gabrielle is always happy to answer your questions and get your in contact with the best mentors!

We (the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce) used MCSCs services last year to create a webinar series for our Members on Small Business Marketing. They provided an industry professional and created the 3-part series catered to our Members needs. Earlier this year we worked with them again to provide a speaker on how to brand your business for our Breakfast on the Bay program. It was a great experience working with the team at MCSC for both. Charlene and Gabrielle are amazing and they have a huge pool of professionals to draw from for advice, workshops, training and more. They are such an amazing resource that a lot of people dont know about! If you are in need of help, look into their services! The majority of their services are free or very lost cost. We refer our members to them regularly!

When I attended the Explore, Design, and Launch course at the business center, although I knew some business fundamentals, the course helped me to research my competitors, hone in on my competitive edge, create a theory around my price points, create new language to describe my business, & craft a business plan. The course filled in ALL of the knowledge gaps I didnt even know that I had! I highly recommend their Explore, Design, and Launch course. It changed EVERYTHING for me!

I took the Start Run Grow class through the MCSC Womens Business Center and it was definitely a worthwhile class. They provide awesome mentors to help you along your way to building and growing your business. The workshops they provide are very helpful to build upon different aspects of business. The staff here are really amazing and much appreciated. I would have never imagined that I would ever have a business license and have my own business. Here I am with a license! (still working on the business) :D

MCSC is the place to go to spark the creative thought process for developing and growing your business. The classes have been so interesting and informative. I attend all of the Brown Bag presentations I can and walk away wanting more every time. Private help is always available for questions, education and brainstorming your growth. The staff is welcoming and knowledeable. There is huge value for both the person dreaming of starting a business with no idea how to begin, as well as a seasoned business owner. Everyone can use fresh ideas in an uplifting environment of like minded people. I use them as a reference point frequently when I am looking for answers. They are a source you can always rely on and that is huge when you own your own business and dont want to waste time reinventing the wheel for growth.

Once again the Women’s Business Center did a great job in supporting me through, what would normally be, the slowest time of the year for me. With guidance from both Megan and Lorelei I was able to use my idle time constructively. Not only did I revise my story but I was able to create a new course I call The Macronazi MasterClass. Once I sent out emails, notifying everyone of the program, my phone literally would not stop ringing for days after and I still continue to get interest.Great success!!!!My enthusiasm for the Women’s Business Center has made me an advocate; letting others know of the program and all that it has to offer. If I could rate 100 stars, I would. MCSC Womens Business Center SLO, and specifically Christine Marie, helped me SO much with navigating the PPP loan application process as well as the PUA assistance applicaton. She is a miracle worker! I am certain that I would not have been able to successfully navigate these processes without her help, and she has made a huge difference in my ability to continue working through the pandemic. Christine is extremely knowledgeable and is continuing to answer questions and offer assistance even though the PPP loan has been funded successfully. I am extremely grateful for this help and would recommend MCSC and Christine to anyone who needs guidance.
