The ambience is amazing. Professional and fast service. The cake is not so sweet and We tried 4 different cakes. The best is strawberry one as in pictures.Highly recommended for tea time with small group of 5 or less.

I visited this place recently and despite arriving late, I was pleasantly surprised by what was available. I managed to grab two fabulous cakes, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations. The packaging design was not only visually appealing but also reflected the attention to detail that the establishment clearly values. Let me start off with, we do not display an entitled demeanor. We are but humble, blue collar types. I only mention this because of some of the previous reviews, and the general attitude of other customers.Enough about that. Foremost, the shop was busy. Yet, a very nice counter person (Albanian lady) was the kindest and most patient representative at the counter. We of course asked a lot of questions about their offerings. Specifically when it comes to nuts, as my wife has an allergy.As for the sweets. First, dont come light in the wallet. Youre going to pony up for some of their treats. Well worth every bit.My favorite had to be the pistachio, bavarian creme pastry, Napoleon I believe. Very light and decadent. Though the hazelnut was very close. We sampled 6 of their sweet treats, while my wife had a pink rose latte, while I had the Americana. Both were devine.I can see why there are complaints of certain items being sold out, they are simply a great treat. I would suggest arriving early.The entire staff was beyond polite, and very well mannered. We will most definitely return, even though we live 3 hours away.Thank you to the entire staff for making our visit pleasurable.

The tarts here all look adorable; I was immediately drawn to them. I had the pistachio one and the chocolate inside added a great dimension to it. It was a bit too sweet for me though and I didnt love the crust. The triangular napoleon I had tasted very fresh and flakey. It had a lot of cream but it was very palatable.They have a myriad of other things like cupcakes, macarons, pastries, and of course their famous spiral croissants.The interior of this place is lovely and they had fresh flowers on the tables. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the decor. There is more seating than I expected and a more secluded alcove with more tables. We came at a good time because there was a line for most of the time we were eating after. But in any case, there are lots of tables outside as well so I dont imagine it to be hard to find seating.Some of the workers there were really friendly but others were just chatting to each other which is no big deal but its just something anyone would notice right away.I would consider the prices normal for the bay area and some of the pastries are actually quite big. I ate half a napoleon but it is the size of some whole ones at other bakeries.

I am mildly obsessed with Marvel Cake. 😅Whenever I have family/friends visiting I take them here. 💖 their attention to detail is apparent.The atmosphere transports you to what I imagine a dainty French cafe is like. I always feel like a Princess sitting for tea 👸🏻Each pastry is like a piece of art, you almost don’t want to take a bite because it is so delicate and beautiful. But when you do, the flavors & textures are wonderful. Don’t sleep on the savory pastries either! I usually take one home as a snack for later.A bit pricey per pastry, but again with the attention to detail & quality in each one, I find it well worth the price. Definitely recommend!!

They have a variety of desserts that are aesthetically pleasing, right portions for their sweetness. Tarts, creme brulees, cakes are good.Croissants are just okay. Expected them to be a lot fluffier at this price.Cappuccino was okay and is in small portions.You are paying a high price only for the ambience, service, upscale feel, and very little when it comes to quality.

This is a cute boutique cafe. Get coffee and pastries… definitely try the spiral croissants! Staff is very friendly. We arrived and there was no wait. But while waiting for our food, the line built up!The place has a water station and restroom available. Will definitely come back to try the other spiral croissants.

This place has gone viral for a reason. The spiral croissants are 1000% worth the wait in line. I actually like that they limit one of each flavor to each guest. It allows for more people to try them. Sometimes the line looks daunting but it goes by pretty quick. If you go on a weekend, definitely get there before they open up to snag a prime spot in line. The decor and ambiance are super cute and makes it feel like an elevated experience. Considering that it’s a “boutique cafe” I think the ambiance matches the description perfect. Staff are all stellar and super friendly. The other desserts we tried not only look beautiful but taste amazing! I would recommend this place 10000%. Perfect for date night dessert, Mother’s Day, birthday, or just a fun treat!

This review is specifically related to custom cakes, not any other food/service. For context I had picked up a cake design and flavors for a small wedding celebration. Unlike most other places I reached out to Marvel Cakes responded quickly with a quote and accepted my idea. The cake I got is beautiful, just as I had described it - with fresh flowers on top, and served 15-20 slices for $140.Here are the cons. (1) There was a lot of icing and not much cake, which made it a bit heavy. The layers of cream was as thick as if not thicker than the cake layers. (2) I had ordered the cake with fresh raspberries and hazelnuts. Unfortunately out of the 2 slices I had I probably got half a raspberry and I think hazelnuts were skipped altogether. There’s a chance the hazelnuts were blended into the cream, but this wasn’t what I ordered.Overall, the experience was okay. I did appreciate the quick communication and execution (~1.5 week notice). One thing that felt a bit sketchy at the time was Venmo-ing 50% of the cost as a deposit. There was no receipt so technically they could have just taken the money. It all was good and if I ever order again I wouldn’t be nervous but something to keep in mind.

I had visited this cafe couple of months ago to try their Spiral croissant. But they had run out then. I finally got to try them today. You have to be early and wait in line to get them. They open at 10 but there was already a long line by that time. I tried their strawberry and chocolate spiral croissant. They were really good. Being a chocolate lover, I really liked the chocolate filling inside - it was rich. Strawberry flavor was also delicious. If youre not a fan of cream filling and only like the croissant, then you might not enjoy it a lot as the cream portion is relatively more than the croissant portion. Maybe they could slightly reduce the cream filling. Previously when we visited, we had tried their pink rose latte which was decent. Their other desserts are all on the pricier side and arent very extraordinary. Spiral croissant is the star here.

This place is usually crowded. We went on a weekend around 3pm. They have seating inside and outside. Heard their spiral croissants are sold out early so you may need to be there before 10am if you need spiral croissants.I got cappuccino and almond croissant. Almond croissant had the perfect sweetness and crispy to enjoy with coffee. I may come back to try other options.You got to order and find a spot. Food will be brought to your table. Service was good.

All about Spiral croissants 🤤 they live up to the hype! Tried Hazelnut and Strawberry (although it tasted more like raspberry 😛) both are very good! Also tried spinach feta I liked that it’s not much of feta very balanced. The spiral croissants are on demand you can only get 4 per person and they run out by 12/1pm after opening.

This is an expensive place. But the quality of the bakery items is excellent. We love their spiral croissants(we tasted almond and pumpkin spice). They are filled and not that sweet.Their packaging for cupcakes (single piece) is very beautiful. We tasted their LOpera, which was liked by our family. The service is excellent and the ambience is very good. Their Rose coffee and Red velvet Mocha are very tasty with little sugar. This is a must try place.

This is such a hidden gem! I believe they just opened a few months back but slowly gaining traction! The moment you walk it, you can feel the luxurious vibe of the place.The pastries are so beautiful that I honestly thought they weren’t going to be so tasty. I was wrong! They were absolutely delicious.They have a large variety of couture sweets made of fruity, tea and chocolate fillings. They also have coffee with homemade syrups which give it an extra touch.

First time here. Had a good cappuccino. The croissant was not bad(if I had to compare with what I ate in France). Nice interior deco, it didnt feel pretentious, it feels nice. Plus, all the person who worked there on 5/24 in the AM had a smile on their face. I read about them in the local paper and went to visit the next day, a Tuesday. In the article the owner said they generally sell out of the spiral croissants in the first hour or so. I went on a Tuesday, maybe 15 minutes after they opened, there was already a line. More surprising to me, the line after me by the time I got to the front.I got a spiral to eat there with a flat white, and two to go. Pretty spendy! Completely worth it I think. Not as flaky as a standard croissant, but delicious. The inside was light and fluffy just as it should be. I was not expecting a gooey center, I got chocolate. The inside was light and not sweet, and complemented the spiral beautifully.They had a case full of treats. Mostly sweet, some savory. I will absolutely go again.

If you’re looking to eat good cream, you can find better.Spiral donuts you must come early for them or else they are old and hard. The cream was pretty good but Paris baguette gives similar results with their chiffons. In simple words you’re kinda paying for old bread. The decor is wonderful and so are the tarts.Service is kind of meh. The water located in the back is tap with a weird taste to it. For the matcha latte, I recommend stirring it every time you drink because it’s not mixed already. Or else you’ll be just drinking milk.Price does not match the quality. Firstly, their spiral croissants are definitely overrated. The other stuff, pretty good.So yeah theres a large parking lot as usual with southbay places so dont worry about parking. We came on a Saturday 11am and there was a line to the door. We prob had to wait 10 minutes before being attended to. Then you point out which pastries and stuff you want and they grab it for you. If they look out of something, make sure you clarify!I would get more of the tarts next time, and also the Napoleon again. Prob not worth it to get the croissants, except maybe 1 spiral to just try it and say youve had itThe cake was pretty good! Ask them for the prices and the flavor. They dont have huge variety (almost everything was strawberry) but yeah.Have fun!

To be honest even though the cakes here look fantastic they taste too sweet for me - if you’re like me, usually get 50% or 30% sugar when having boba tea, then cakes here will likely also be too sweet for you.However I’m glad I went back for coffee and bakery. They are really good! Especially the croissant is very crispy and buttery. I also enjoyed their tea room, every table is decorated with lovely fresh flowers, that made my day!

Tried out Marvel Cake for the first time and had to get the viral spiral! Favorite flavor was pistachio and note that the pistachio and strawberry are filled with a corresponding custard! Lined up at 10 AM (yes, on a Wednesday!! Day AFTER Valentines!)) and, while I was there, they sold out of the spirals so keep that in mind if you want a spiral, go early! Also tried the red flower cake, which I thought was a chocolate mousse but seemed to have more of a caramel flavor IMHO. Red velvet cupcake was pretty standard except for the price ($5). Espresso was good! Prices are pretty high: baked goods are $7.50 each and pastries are around $10 each.

The pastries at Marvel Cakes are really tasty - but are they worth the hype? Thats something youre honestly going to have to determine for yourself. For our family, the spiral croissants were really good, but I probably wouldnt go out of my way to get them again. The husband just happened to be in the area and luckily was first in line, so he ordered a little of everything. The croissants are good, but they really are just that - plain croissants filled with flavored pastry cream. The croissants are flakey, but theyre a bit more dense than traditionally shaped croissants. The shape of the croissant is really photoworthy, but as far as flavor and texture goes, it really is the same as other places. All of the pastries are fresh, nicely sweetened without being overly cloying, and are beautifully presented. This is a fun bakery to visit if youre in the area and is definitely great if you want to take some really instaworthy pictures.

Good french patisserie with a good amount of cake options. we did not get the spiral croissant (Chocolate) since we had the original in New York and are not a fan of it. Theres no line when we stopped by around 1:30pm on a Sunday.We got the Napoleon, strawberry tart, and pistachio tart. They are on the expensive side but was done very well.The Napoleon pastry is flaky yet sturdy. The pastry cream in the middle is light and creamy. The pistachio crumbs on the edge work really well and the pistachio flavor is brought to the center.The strawberry tart tastes as you would expect. The outer strawberry crémeux is rich and creamy, with some tart raspberry and strawberry jam in the center.The pistachio tart has a chocolate center. The pistachio crémeux is actually really good with pistachio aroma but its overpowered by the chocolate.I want to try their Perla next which has lemon curd cream on a pastry with fresh fruit on top.

Came here following the craze to sample the circular croissants as I am unable to make it to NYC right now. While the ambiance, staff and display at the bakery are 5/5, I was left disappointed with the circular croissants filled with flavored cream. I just didn’t find them buttery or flaky. Hence the 4 stars as this isn’t the best croissant I have had in the Bay Area.

There was a huge disconnect between how the store looked vs. how the workers treated the customers.I had this place in mind for both my birthday and our wedding cake.We came here to ask about the custom order cake. At first the lady told us they only take custom order cakes online. It felt strange because that’s not what we were told last time (which is why we walked-in today). The other workers were much kinder and welcoming than the group today.We asked about the daily cake that was in the display because it looked similar to what we wanted. She then said she could ask if they can make it with someone in the back.Lots of back and forth. It felt as if they were avoiding taking our order at all. They said they can’t do Monday but they can on Sunday. We said sure, Sunday works. We were asked what flavor and the kind of frosting. Then she goes back and comes back saying they can’t do Sunday anymore. It made us feel like we weren’t welcomed and just didn’t want to take orders.They didn’t tell us they were too booked, or too busy, or anything. Just can’t do it without a reason.Unfortunate experience… will not recommend for taking cake orders from here.

This cafe has a wonderful decor and absolutely pretty looking desserts! We tried many pastries and cakes - while they have an instagram friendly look, not ‘marvelous’ in taste. Please please please extend your working hours! Opening at 10 am is way too late! It is the easiest way to make more profit - a lot of morning (8-10am) visitors come to grab a drink or pastries before going to work, they don’t even stay! All these people on photo ( and 3 more behind my back) are waiting since ~9.40, started to come at 9.30. I guess they’re all not crazy about wasting some of their precious time standing by the closed doors, they just want to buy your delicious goods for their Sunday planned events as early as possible. I live close by and would be happy to visit your amazing place more often!

I leave reviews based off the quality of the food. Customer service and shop seem really nice but got the macarons and they were definitely some of the worst ones Ive had in the area and Ive tried nearly every bakery in the Bay area. They were way overly sweet, like very syrupy tasting, not soft and airy at all like a macaron should be. Good overall - the pastries are going to cost more than normal (ex. $9 for a Napoleon, $7.50 for a spiral croissant). But thats to be expected. The pastries are beautiful/artistic as well as tasty, so its clear that there arent your normal pastries. On a separate note, the atmosphere is great as well. Definitely a nice boutique cafe, that wed come back to.The one room for improvement was with the drinks. We ordered a cold matcha latte and a cappuccino. The matcha and coffee flavors respectively were a little light. Stronger please!All in all though, good experience and will come back.

My Hawaiian wedding was cancelled due to COVID but my fiancée and I made the best of it with a backyard wedding in Santa Cruz. Obviously we had a MUCH smaller guest list (8 people) but we still wanted to do the flowers, cake, etc. part of a wedding.My fiancée took care of ordering the cake and said that the customer service was fantastic! I came here 2 weeks ago for the first time with friends it was so good I came back again with my mom today.This bakery is known for their “rolled” croissants so definitely try that. I had pistachio and it was very satisfying. The cream filling was rich but not so much it makes your stomach turn. Sweetness was just right for me, however those with sweet tooth may find it lacking if compared to the average American dessert. The ratio of pastry to filling was just right too, and pastry was just right amount of crispy goodness. Not so flaky that it disintegrates.I have also tried feta and spinach croissant, apple turnover, pistachio mouse tart, and mini almond croissants all were delicious. I really wanted to try the Parmesan leek but they ran out boo.Definitely pair any of the above with one of their lattes to round out the experience. I am not generally a fan of red velvet however it’s not something I see often on drink menu, and it was delicious not mention lovely looking in the mug.Will definitely be back again ..hopefully 3rd visit will be successful for that Parmesan leek croissant lol.My only feedback to management is whether they can do something differently to minimize the long queue. With only one register that’s seems to be a bottleneck. I waited 5-10 minutes to reach counter so the lady could gather my items. I then waited another 10 mins or so to reach the other lady to pay and place my drink order. Luckily the food was worth the wait and $$.Quite a few orders were to go to, could there be separate checkout process for dine in vs take out perhaps? I have noticed that during and after pandemic more and more restaurants have handheld payment systems where waiter can take payment from customers at the table itself. This might be worth exploring.

Marvel cake is a cafe that is very pleasing to the eye with pastries that are beautifully presented. Its obvious that a lot of care, love, and artisanship went into every single item displayed. They are picture worthy. The person who helped me was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a fresh fruit cream tart, mixed fruit puff pastry, also one with apricot, and a coffee. The apricot tart looked very beautiful but it had egg or milkwash on the top border and was very black. When I bit into it and ate some of of the top black part the whole thing tastes like dry burnt toast. The pastry was very dry and crunchy. It was beautifully layered but I think it just spent too much time in the oven perhaps. Usually when I order apricot with puff pastry the apricot has a nice tart flavor and sometimes its slightly chewy like they reconstituted dried apricots. This tart had apricots that were mushy and tasteless. They taste like they came from a can. The cream tart however, had an assortment of fresh fruit that tasted fresh and delicious, with a light cream filling. The tart shell was very overcooked even the inside of the bottom of the tart was browned and it was hard. If it had more of a cookie flavor or some kind of flavor I would have just dipped it in some tea or coffee but I I just didnt want it. I ordered coffee and was very excited to try the lavender latte. A lavender syrup goes into the coffee so I would recommend tasting before you add any kind of sweetener. When I took a sip of this luscious latte I really did get hints of lavender. And what I thought were chocolate shavings on top of the foam were actually dried lavender buds. When I bit into them there was a burst of lavender flavor. This was absolutely the best latte Ive ever had in my life. Id like to go back and give the pastries a second chance. There are a lot of pastry choices.

The cream and the filling pack so much flavor, and its so moist you dont need coffee or milk - you almost dont want any drink to distract from the wonderful flavor. Im new to the area and have been frequenting Marvel Cake since August of this year. Every time I visit, its a good 50-70 dollars I spend. Im not a fan of their tip-forcing counter service, which seems to be everywhere with small businesses these days (I mean, why are they forcing you to tip when literally they are checking you out with their items? Ive noticed the lackluster customer service on other days, too; but today, I think Marvel Cake just lost their business with me. My 6-year-old dropped one of the boxes with 2 eclairs and a choux. The two ladies acted like they didnt see us and went to the backroom. I waited at the counter to see if they would be willing to help us. One of them returned and asked what I needed. I asked if they would be so kind as to replace one of the eclairs (not all--but just one) because that one landed flat on its top-side while the others were halfway in the box. With a flat affect, the young lady told me because it was our fault, they could not--she could not have cared less! Apparently, they only care about their profit and not losing a dime. No empathy, no concern for customers, and lacking a service mind. Thus, I choose not to spend my hard-earned money there anymore. Good cake or not, I dont honor businesses that take their customers for granted.

I submitted a cake request online for a simple birthday cake. Their policy (per their website) says to submit cake requests online and someone will reach out within 24-48 hours. Glad to have found this local gem. Got a dozen cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday party for a small group of friends. All the cupcakes were consumed, some went for seconds. I tried vanilla and red velvet, both were excellent, not too sweet, it was just perfect. Can’t wait to be back here again.

The best part though is that her cakes taste as good as they look.I recently had my husbands surprise birthday party and I can say the cake was one of the best part of the party. Not only my husband was so happy and amazed by his cake but every single guest in that party was in wow. I had ordered a motocross hamlet since thats his passion. I had given Maryam one of his old and favorite hamlets to create something close to it. When I saw the cake next to the real hamlet on the table I could not believe my eyes. I called to confirm they were open until 7pm. I had never been but was looking forward to picking up a few things. I arrived at 655pm and the door was locked. The two young women working ignored me completely. Then, a third woman walk out from the back, made eye contact with me, said something to the other two and they all laughed and then all three ignored me.If youre open until 7 then stay open. If you close early at least acknowledge that youve done so.Their baked good looked delicious but I wont be going back to find out. Common courtesy goes a long way.
