We had the best experience in this hotel, The location is great, walking distance from many cafes and restaurants and the gondola. And I loved their hot tub and pool, specially in a snowy weather. Beautiful view to the mountains. Really enjoyed our stay

Front desk and valet service were top notch. So helpful, speedy, courteous! Two different elevators and several minutes of walking was required to get to our room. Not convenient. Facilities seemed a bit dated which is atypical for Marriott properties. We rented a room with a fireplace and whirlpool. Those items were nothing like we envisioned. We had to rearrange the two chairs on the balcony just to get out there and rearrange them again to sit down. Without a microwave or fridge we were handicapped. The room was small enough that to make coffee, my wife had to set the coffee maker on the bathroom sink or the hall floor. We are Marriott enthusiasts but we would likely stay elsewhere. The staff is amazing but the facilities missed the mark for us.

This is our second stay here. We love this property! And we also love the front desk manager Benjamin Potter. We needed to make some room changes as some of our needs changed since originally booking. He was so knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and efficient in getting us in to the rooms we now needed and his efforts never fail to make a great first impression. Thank you.

As an avid traveler, I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Marriott, and while the location was undeniably fantastic, my overall experience was somewhat mixed due to the disappointing valet service.Lets start with the positives. The Marriott boasts an amazing location, providing quick and direct access to the Gondola right from the hotel building. This convenience made it incredibly easy for me to hit the slopes without any hassle. The proximity to the Gondola definitely enhanced my skiing experience and allowed me to maximize my time on the mountain.However, the valet service, which was meant to simplify my stay, ended up being a major letdown. Despite the promise of convenience, the valet-only system proved to be more of a hassle than a help. Upon arrival, I was met with a long line of guests waiting to retrieve their cars, and the process of getting a car in and out of the hotel was frustratingly slow. Adding to the disappointment was the realization that the valet staff consisted mainly of young kids, which raised concerns about professionalism and efficiency.Furthermore, the ski valet service offered by the hotel left much to be desired. While I appreciated the convenience of having someone take care of my skis, I was dismayed to discover that the service only extended to skis and not other essential gear such as boots and helmets. This limitation severely impacted the ease of my vacation, as I had to lug around bulky equipment myself, defeating the purpose of the supposed convenience of a ski valet.In conclusion, while the Marriotts prime location provides easy access to the slopes, the shortcomings of the valet service significantly detracted from the overall experience. For future stays, I hope to see improvements in the valet system to better align with the hotels promise of convenience and enhance the overall guest experience.

Positives: The views were great, and the hotel is conveniently located near the town and cannabis dispensaries.Negatives: Housekeeping was not provided unless requested, and there was no breakfast offered, even for hotel guests, regardless of reward program membership. The lack of breakfast options was disappointing, given the high prices in the area. Additionally, the green water feature in the lobby appeared cheap and out of place. Furthermore, the hotel allows children to be very noisy early in the morning, which disrupted my partners sleep. No consideration was given to other guests who may have been disturbed by the loud noise of the children.

We spent 5 days in a beautiful 1 bedroom apartment before Christmas. The room was well appointed, came with everything you could possibly need within the kitchen and whilst some people don’t like being near the Gondola we loved it (so did our 2 year old!). The foyer was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the spas were nice and toasty and we loved our time in Tahoe!

Top notch. Pricey, but worth it. Heated pool and hot tubs are amazing. My kids had a blast. This is a self-contained venue that will satisfy anybody, regardless of age. Good vibes and plenty of music within the restaurants and shops surrounding the lodge. They have an ice rink, ferris wheel, kids costume characters walking about at times, what a great time. All of the restaurants around were amazing. Special shout out to Driftwood cafe, Amazing food, but get on the waitlist early. No complaints, expect resort costs everywhere.

Terrible service!I made reservation by mistake for April 18 instead of February 18, and noticed that in 1 hour maybe. Then I canceled in their website my reservation, I read the cancellation information and it said that cancellation before February 19th will be free. Of course I canceled my reservation on their official website, but they didnt send me any confirmation! and later they charged me and said that I did not cancel my reservation. But Im absolutely sure I did it! They are scammers who dont want to cancel your reservation and want to get your money for nothing!!!!

Really dont like that this is valet-only, and youre paying $35/day plus $5 tips each time you drop off and pick up your car. Why cant they just allow self-parking? They have a large garage underneath the Marriott. Or otherwise make the valet parking free for guests so I dont feel a bad having to tip $5 every time I pick up and drop off. The valet-only nature of the hotel wasnt clear when we booked.The rooms were decent, but the queen beds are too small and uncomfortable. I was here for a conference so good quality sleep was essential as I dont have time to catch up on bad sleep during the day.Im a very loyal Marriott customer (will be Platinum in a few weeks). I go out of my way to stay at Marriott properties. One of the benefits of being a Marriott member is you get a late check out, which I was denied by the hotel yesterday. That created a headache for us since we had a massage at 11:00am and planned to get back at 1:30pm to pack our stuff. Instead we had to wake up early and pack quickly. I had never ever been denied a late check out, and Ive been gold or platinum status for many years.

Pros: Spacious comfortable rooms, full kitchen, in the middle of Heavenly Village, walk to tons of shops and restaurants, gondola is right outside, walkable to casinos in Nevada. Employees were extremely helpful and considerate.Cons: Parking is valet only and $35/day for non-owners (it can take quite a while for the valet to retrieve your car so plan ahead), kitchen is rather small compared to many other MVC properties, some portions of our room were in disrepair (3 different door handles were broken), pool is noisy late, not really walking distance to Lake Tahoe, no laundry in rooms (there are free facilities on each floor), no trash rooms (must leave garbage bags outside for pickup by housekeeping).Overall this hotel is very clean and fairly quiet (during summer, at least) and close to everything. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location for South Shore, right at the line. Only complaint was bed was a little too soft, otherwise nice facility. Be aware, because some of the rooms are basically owned, if you get 2 or more nights, you might have to change rooms!! We did not, but it is a possibility.

Overall enjoyable. Our room was well equipped with amenities for a full kitchen experience.Bathroom was needing updating as the grout is going. Our room was above the village market and a band played every night from 430 till about 930. This would be great except that we have a baby. The resort is right in the middle of the Heavenly Village action, including the gondolas, which was fantastic. Downside is that its a bit of a walk to get to the lake which is where most people want to be, with very little public access/ parking without driving some ways (we were hoping to walk there). The concierge gave us some bad info but housekeeping, vallet and security was fantastic.

This is an ace of a location in South Lake Tahoe. Right next to heavenly gondola boarding point, walkable distance to numerous restaurants and the casinos. The rooms are big and spacious with full value for money. Just one thing, this isn’t a Marriott hotel but more of a serviced apartment. While you get full fledged kitchen, there’s no breakfast served or even a restaurant, early check-in and late check-out isn’t available but you get a pool table in your room plus they give discount coupons when you dine in the same block as them. So in general a good balance.

Note: This is only my 2nd time ever writing a review, but I felt like blunt honesty about my experience of this hotel should be read before booking.Checking In:When arriving to the hotel the woman checking my boyfriend and I in forgot to save that we arrived for our week long stay. That meant that the next morning our key cards were no longer working until it was resolved.Valet:I would say that they are the worst part of the experience. There are only 2 options for parking. A parking garage that was $50 per day or valet which was $35. So far throughout the week we have consistently seen 2 very sketchy employees. I call them sketchy because they were never at their station, always acted sluggish, were on their phones, and we literally saw one of the employees stumble out of the office carrying an open ENTIRE BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE when we know he was on shift!!! Lastly, the waiting for your car with this “24 hour valet service” will take 20+ minutes regardless of an online reservation to have your car ready.Rooms:Rooms don’t include microwave or fridge. I understand that not all do, but I thought for $250 a night there would be (so maybe that part is just me lol). I’m also not sure if the room even has a heater. There is no way to change air conditioning from cool to heat. In order to heat you have to raise the max volume to 80 and hope the hot air comes through which isn’t consistent. I’m writing this review while listening to a child throwing a fit in the room next door since the walls don’t seem to keep hardly any sound in.Location:The location is amazing. There is so much walking distance, but there are also so many other hotels right next door with the same shops and cafes walking distance.

I was so surprised with how huge the suite was, and it was really well equipped. The outdoor facilities were so nice, we loved sitting by the fire after a soak in the whirlpool. Couldnt ask for a better location.The village is so adorable with a comfortable relaxed vibe! We will definitely be back.

I just returned from my first trip to Tahoe. Being a newbie, I was unsure as to where to book my stay. The Marriott Grand Residence Club had a lot of positive reviews, so I went with them. I certainly was not disappointed! My room was ready earlier than check in, which was nice. Upon getting settled in, I tried to use the safe to lock up some valuables, but it was flashing low battery. I was given a number to text if I had any problems or needed anything. Within about 30 minutes of contacting them, someone was up at my room replacing the battery. The room was clean and in really great condition. I got a studio queen, and it was more than enough space for me. The kitchenette was great for quick breakfasts and lunches, and was equipped with everything youd need. The staff here is also beyond friendly. I was in the elevator with one of the housekeeping staff one day, and she asked how my stay was going so far, and encouraged me to reach out if I needed anything. I really feel like everyone wanted to make sure I was taken care during my visit. Finally, the location is perfect. Nestled right in the heart of Heavenly Village, it was walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, and Van Sickle Bi State Park. I will definitely stay here again in the future. The rooms are awesome! The location is awesome. Let talk service.Prior to arrival- very nice, try to accommodate desired locationAt arrival- usually not enough people working. They don’t take your luggage to your room. You have to do it on the luggage cart yourself. If it’s busy there’s not enough.It takes a while to get your vehicle so call 20 minutes ahead for it.Almost got in an argument with valet supervisor. He told us to move our luggage that WE brought down and no where to put it!! Last time I knew the customer is always right. We had roofers that were amazing with personality (laborers in 100 degree heat) with minimal English and were sooo nice when they saw us. Marriott employees in baggage and valet not so much!! Del staff if mostly nice.

Given that you are forced to valet your car as the only parking option, it was really surprising they didnt make an effort on this touch point. Wannabe gangstas that seem pissed to be doing the job at all, just super delightful, lol.The front desk staff was a 50/50 experience. One day well trained, professionals. The next a confused, un-informed human who, after 30mins of waiting told us to call central reservations because they didnt know how to extend our booking.Turned out to be a blessing and we didnt extend. Blinds in our room were non-functioning and stuck wide open, 3 rounds of maintenance staff over 2 days to change batteries up a ladder was basically circus. Housekeepers arguing with each other as they made up our room while we were on a buisness call... Entertainment nonetheless.But I guess the location is good if you dont mind waking up to the bellowing music over the empty ice rink every morning.2 bedroom with kitchen was older decor, although spacious.

The stars go to the hospitality staff. The room, although small and tight to accommodate a Titanium Member, it was clean. Honorable mention goes to Julia. Upon our check-in, I noticed her disinfecting the business center area chairs, etc. Awesome!! Thank you for caring about the health of your Guests.The star deduction is due to the lack of warmth and welcoming upon check-in from the front desk male staff member, which we learned was actually the evening Manager. His inquisitive tone regarding our credit card was actually offensive and could be taken as racial profiling. Disappointing.

I booked the Marriott Grand Residence Club from AMEX travel. I reserved a studio with two queen beds. The location is perfection! In the heart of the Heavenly Village and next to one of the gondolas serving Heavenly Mountain Resort.The check in process was very easy and valet parking was included in the resort fee. They also have EV charging for a minimal fee. Since this is resort is part of the Marriott time share there reservations are slightly different than normal Marriott resorts. I had some questions about my reservation and I spoke with Tim about my questions and he was so helpful, patient, and customer focused.The room was very nice, well cleaned, and the bed was so comfortable! We enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub after a day of snowboarding. They have pools towels out at the pool and it seems the pool was heated at 85 and the hot tub was about 104. They also have a list of daily activities to enjoy and have arranged discounts for their guests at local businesses.

Beautiful property that is located at the famous Heavenly Village. It is located right next to the cable car station that goes up to the top of the ski mountains. There is also a beach with 0.5 miles for water sports during summer.Rooms are spacious and the gym is well equipped. There are also plenty of eateries around the property.

We come to the Marriott GRC every year and we always have an amazing stay. Everything is great, from the valet, front desk, housekeeping, and rooms. The location is one of the best in South Lake Tahoe and its close to everything including some of the best restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The heated pool and hot tub are amazing during the winter. Having the heavenly ski lift within a 100 feet is also a huge plus. Perfect stay for anytime of the year 10/10!

The property is great but it is showing some age. It is perfect for a skier close to the gondola so almost ski in ski out. The staff however is a different story. When a guest is having an issue it is never an acceptable response to laugh at the guest. That is not how you de-escalate any situation. The problem I had was very easy to resolve but after being laughed at by the front desk manager I will never stay at this property again. When I called Marriott they could not believe this could happen. I hope they make some changes to the front desk staff. It’s to late for me but maybe they can do better for the next guest.

Clean, but a bit dated and you have to hunt around to find help. They don’t allow late checkout even with a fee or with status, so it drastically decreases the value of the last day for skiing, etc. Try to avoid to the 5th floor in the winter if you can — they don’t clear the snow on the roof so the snow largely blocks the windows and the rooms feel a bit cave-like. Location to gondola is great, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

Excellent service at front desk and location. Maintenance needs to do better: Bathroom shower directional lever sticking, refrigerator filter needed changing, lighting in dining area very poor (maybe switch to brighter leds), lamp outlets poor, and 2 TVs but only 1 remote and twice had fire alarm issues. Concierge needs to do better, maybe expand their experience base and dining pallette and learn to ask more follow up questions with guests. They should act as a tour guide/cheerleader for the area.

Last weekend I stayed at the Marriott Grand Residence in South Lake Tahoe with my husband and two children (a toddler and a baby). After my kids were asleep, my husband and I smelled smoke. Shortly thereafter, the fire alarms went off. My husband and I frantically grabbed our children from their beds and ran down 5 flights of stairs. We waited in a crowded lobby where people were coughing, sneezing, and drunk for approximately two hours while standing and holding our kids who were scared and upset. After two hours, the firemen told everyone they could return to their rooms with the exception of the block of rooms that were directly below ours. When we returned to our room, it reeked of smoke. So at roughly 1AM, we drove 2 hours home. I requested a refund from our hotel for the night we couldn’t stay due to the fire. They returned my call the next day to tell me they are not offering any refunds to any guests. This was a scary and awful experience. I want to warn others about Marriott’s customer service so they can avoid a similar experience in the future.

NOT ski in/ski out unless the gondola is running. If it’s not, which is often, you need to walk about a quarter mile and then take a shuttle. The shuttle has no ski racks so you need to carry your gear onto the bus.The rooms are very nice but don’t think of it as a ski in ski out hotel. It’s not.

This hotel exceeded all our expectations. The location was close to the gondola, amazing shops and restaurants. Rooms were well stocked with linens and toiletries. Came with a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, full size refrigerator and all items that you need to cook and enjoy your meal. Our room had 2 full bathrooms one equipped with a large jet sauna tub, fireplace in bedroom as well as a balcony to enjoy amazing views with your morning coffee.There is also a pull out bed/couch and fireplace in front room and kitchen table/chairs in a nook. The beds were luxuriously comfortable.We will definitely be back.

Nice big hotel near South Lake Tahoe.Spacious place with so many seating areas and good amenities like swimming pool and functional gym.The studio was spacious and super clean. Equipped with everything including full kitchen. The balcony was a nice plus as well.The downside are sort of poor noise isolation from the street and overpriced valet parking ( 32$).

Stayed here for 5 days and had a great time. Clark was great at check-in and was extremely helpful when I asked about a parking situation in town. Mike the concierge was very helpful too with his recommendations. The studio we stayed in was well-equipped, with plenty of kitchen tools and Tupperware to make it our home for the week. The lack of counter space was frustrating at times but I understand you get what you pay for. Wish they would provide more coffee. They only give you one regular and one decaf and if you’re not the type to want your room cleaned during your stay, you’ll have to specifically ask for more.We enjoyed the ability to use the self-service laundry a couple times for free during our stay, that was extremely welcome since we were on a long trip.The hot tub reservation system was nice and we thoroughly enjoyed it and the pool. The gym is limited to 7 people and you have to *ask* the front desk if you can go in. Very much a deterrent to working out during my stay. Great location and if you don’t spend a lot of time in the room, this is a nice option in South Lake Tahoe.

Marriott Grand Residence Club is similar to Timber Lodge right next door.First of, the location is perfect, you are next to the gondola, supermarket and restaurants are within walking distance too. You get discount for domes stores.Second, the overall hotel, amenities are super similar with Timber lodge, with a slightly more upscale decoration and bigger room size.Third, price points it is a touch more expensive than Timber lodge.Some of the problem we have during our stay:1. The water faucet barely worked, with just a tiny stream of water, I could not even shower with it.2. The cleaning needs a bit attention. We found a pair of socks underneath the couch pillow.Please note Valet is 32 dollar per day, on the check out day, if you leave your car passes 1PM there will be an additional 20 dollar charge.

Marriot does this very well. The Grand Residence offers 1-2-3 bedrooms appartements with living room and kitchen and some a complete terrace or balcony. Perfect dor family stays, but the 1 bedroom is great for couples wanting something more than a room. Very affordable outside the ski and summer season (like late September). Beautiful pool and valet parking services. Also accessible for Marriot Time share members.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and I really appreciate their top notch staff and the rooms are very clean. However this recent stay was compromised by the smoky oder throughout the hotel. I realize this is a result of the recent forest fires. They do have several large air filters/cleaners in the lobby to try to clean the air. However In the interest of full disclosure it would have been more honest if their website had information regarding this issue. I booked a room directly from their website. The only charge shown was $294. It is only after you check out that the added fees are shown: $29 for parking, $41 for city tax, and $6 for additional fees.So the total cost went from $294 to $370. It would have been more honest to their customers if they believed in full disclosure right from the start.

1. My 2nd time in this hotel for 2023 but the dryer isnt working again. It would snap open while spinning and would halt the drying process. I have to put a towel between it and the door to prevent it from opening for the 2nd time!2. Checkin process and communication is fast thru the mobile app and residence phone in Hilton. Here, you have to SMS and would take them sometime to respond. Refused for extension of checkout as well where in fact we did the checkin late at night. No consideration on that note.3. Took so long to grab my car during checkout (valet only). Lots of people complaining as well during that time.4. Pool closes early. Room is too far from the elevator!! Its like walking in a maze and it would take you forever.PROS:1. Very close to casinos/ restaurants/ ski rentals and gondola!2. Room has kitchenette, dining table and washer/ dryer.3. We loved staying here for our honeymoon! The room was perfectly suited for our needs and extremely comfortable. The staff was awesome and so helpful. We didnt love paying for the valet, but the valet staff were rockstars and always prompt and professional. Our only big draw back was the renovations happening directly above our room. Updates are a necessary part of a business, we get that. It was just a bit much at times. We could hear hammer tapping and other work when we were trying to relax in the afternoons. Other than that, no complaints!

You will be hard pressed to find better accommodations, other than Marriotts sister property, Timberlodge, which shares the plaza with the Heavenly gondola so you are just steps away from your room to being whisked up to the mountain to enjoy views of South Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay & skiing. Free overnight ski check at base. The Grand Residence has studio, 1 and 2 bedroom units with amply stocked kitchen, dining and living space. Pool and hot tubs. No restaurant on site but plenty nearby and supermarket across the street. Only valet parking is available. Nice staff!

Waited more than once 10+ minutes on road to just turn in to loading area. Only other annoying thing was they are not servicing rooms due to covid. The room size and amenities were excellent with a full kitchen with utensils. Our room had two sofa/sleepers and a full second bathroom also. Great location, many food places nearby. Room was great with a few exceptions: there was only 1 toilet paper roll without any in the drawer as backup, the queen bed and pillows were very uncomfortable we did not sleep well, and there were no coffee filters in or near the coffee machine. Be aware that theres a $29 overnight valet fee. All the customer service so far was very good, the room was clean and odor free, but there was one hair stuck in the shelf side in the cup cabinet. Room service tidied our room and phone requests were filled promptly. Theres one outdoor hallway where we board our elevator where people always smoke (we are non smokers and health-conscious) so that was a con. Overall our experience was good and the hotel looks nice.

This is a great hotel. Every employee we interacted with was exceptionally polite. Especially Clark at the front desk. He was extremely helpful we arrive several hours earlier than we expected but he helped get us in as soon as the room was ready. He also answered every question we had. The valet on site was fast most of the time. There are always times when apparently everyone wants to leave at once but they still got them as fast as they could. All of the shops around are nice. Several restaurants in the same area are great but Azul was the best! The room was very clean and had plates, bowls, a toaster and even more essentials for your stay if you wanted to prepare food in your room. When we come back we definitely will try and stay here again.

Hotel facilities & rooms were clean. Only valet parking is available here. We enjoyed having a full kitchen traveling with two children. Its a timeshare but there was no pressure or pitch. Yoga & other fitness classes offered at no cost to overnight guests. Walking distance to the main drag in SLT & Heavenly Village. Raleys is literally across the street. We had a bad leak in one of 3 bathrooms. Temporary fix but the ceiling will need to be replaced w/new sheet rock eventually. That bathroom was non operational. Hotel offered us $100 off for the inconvenience of it & multiple ppl coming in & out of our room while we were trying to relax. Parking includes in & out privileges. We did however notice that we were charged twice for parking on the first night. I left a detailed message for management along with our folio number. That was April and its now June. We have yet to be contacted by anyone. I was told only management can refund it since we had already checked out. $32 is not a lot but we already spent $96 for valet so to be double charged on the first night adds up to $128. Its the principle. We wont stay here again due to this mishap and not hearing back from anyone at Marriott. Customer experience is everything when traveling.

Our backpack (including passports and cameras and wallet) was missing in the hotel room in the night we checked in, and 4 of us searched it both rooms and our car several hours and couldn’t find it. The next day, we reported to the police, the policeman and the hotel manager came and searched the whole rooms again and not found. Drove up for our anniversary, called beforehand to see if there was anything they could do like set up a bottle of wine etc. and I said could be charged to the room. However with covid they said they were unable to place anything in the rooms but to mention it to customer service and they would have a complimentary bottle. Well upon check-in I received deer-in-the-headlights reactions from the front desk and no willingness to do anything about it and almost an attitude of us lying about the whole thing. Well it turns out the main phone number also connects to the Timber lodge nearby and my mistake was I must have accidentally chose them as an option. The ladys confidence about my profile over the phone was what really sparked my confusion. I really dont care about the wine, but the Grand Residences lack of any care in the world and attitude towards us was very off-putting. That and the total lack of recognition or thanks for my platinum status gave my wife and I the feeling we werent at a Marriott property and just some hotel that doesnt have any pressure to maintain a brand standard. Next time if we do stay in Tahoe we will certainly try the Timber lodge because they seem to have the resources to reward guests for special occasions. Another note worth mentioning is the Grand Residences air conditioning absolutely sucks. The thermostat is able to go down to 65 but the inside temperature never dropped below 72. Luckily at 4am after not sleeping much we called the front desk and they supplied a box fan which we set up in front of the very small opening the window allows and now hopefully we can get some sleep after writing this review. This hotel is probably perfect for some and other experiences of course will be better. But for our anniversary it was definitely a bummer.

I stayed here with a friend a whim because staying there, in the two bedroom suite, was cheaper than two separate rooms at a hotel in Reno. It was about an hour drive and totally worth it! The room was huge, with all the amenities: fireplace, fridge, sink, table with lots of seats, flat screens with DirecTV, and fantastic views. The facility itself is quite large and located near many things to do. Theres no view of the lake, save for the TV in the lobby. The staff was friendly as well. I would absolutely stay here again, especially at the rate we paid.

The overall facilities were nice, the employees were friendly, the location in Heavenly Village is prime, and the experience overall was good. So, why am I giving it only 3 stars? To put it simply, the rooms are terrible. We had a 3 bedroom unit on the 5th floor, and it was incredibly tight and dark. The bedrooms on the second level of the room had essentially no light and were incredibly tiny, the bed took up 90% of the room. The living area was definitely not large enough to hold the 10 people this room is supposedly capable of holding, and the kitchen almost instantly got smoked out if you attempted to cook in the room. If you are looking to stay at a Bonvoy property in Heavenly, Id highly recommend looking at the Timber Lodge across the way for this reason alone, as the rooms there look much larger and nicer than the ones at the older Grand Residence Club.

Place is top notch. Full kitchens, BBQ area, very close to so many things. We parked our car and didnt need it for 3 days. Short walk to many restaurants, grocery store, casinos, etc. The rooms very quite a bit in size. This last stay was a 1 BR with a Murphy bed (not a pull out couch...an actual 2nd bed). Disappointed in this Marriott. As elite Marriott bonvoy members I thought we could request a few things without any issues. First of all, they do not allow late check out. We are used to checking out by 2 or 4pm at Marriott hotels. They were very strict on their 11am checkout, saying “we are not like regular Marriott hotels.” Then why do you have a picture of the Marriott owners in your lobby? I have a 3 month old infant and I was planning to hang out in the hotel room all day with him while the rest of my family went snowboarding. Instead I had to pack up all our stuff and check out, walk around the hotel. Feed my baby in the lobby. Pump in the “locker room” in the spa, a very tiny bench with people coming in and out. Kitchens were great. We got the furthest room possible in hotel- layout is so wierd. Took us 10 mins to walk to our room! Wouldn’t stay here again.

We were in town in the summer. This is a great location if you are looking to go up in the mountains. The gondola is right outside the resort. The rooms in the resort are all very nice and clean. There are granite countertops and fireplaces in a lot of the rooms. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful if you have any questions. Really the only downside is that it can be a bit pricey, but I would still recommend staying here if you want to visit lake Tahoe.

We stayed in 2 bedroom unit for a weekend and were thoroughly disappointed. The property is dated and tired. Our room was large so no complaints there. The property had basically no amenities. Concierge desk was closed the entire time. Probably “due to covid” but unsure. Proximity to the heavenly gondola cannot be beat. It is literally an arms reach away. Definitely very convenient!Unfortunately our check out experience was so awful I would will never return to the property and strongly urge anyone considering this property to stay elsewhere. We called the front desk to inquire about the check out time and the possibility of getting late check out. What ensued was hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I’m a Marriott platinum member and I stay at marriotts all over the world on a monthly basis. I also stay at non Marriott hotels. I generally have great experiences at marriott properties which is why I’m very loyal to the brand. My experience with the front desk employee Donna was unbelievable. We nicely asked about late check out and she was so condescending and hostile (she didn’t even great us when she picked up the phone, she just said “hello? What?”—we thought we misdialed and got a random room by mistake.)Donna said we can’t have late check out because guests are already waiting in the lobby for our room (this was around 9am) and we need to vacate immediately for these guests. Not sure who these guests were but Donna did an excellent job of making us feel like worthless second class guests. After we hung up with Donna, housekeeping knocked on our door twice, an engineer came up twice to “fix the phone” which he determined was fully functional and not in need of repair, and Donna called our room about 4 times and proceeded to hang up when we would answer. It was blatantly obvious Donna had orchestrated this ambush on us in an effort to hurry us out of the room. Completely unprofessional and frankly abusive conduct from Donna. The engineer who was sent actually apologized for repeatedly distributing us and said he knows it’s ridiculous and “it’s political”. He was really nice. Didn’t get his name unfortunately.Hours after we had left the hotel I received several calls and voicemails from other employees who wanted to know when we’d be out of the room. I told them we left hours ago and the gentleman (Tyler I think) basically apologized for calling and said he was asked to call (obviously by Donna). Donna went to great lengths to simply harass us. It was outrageous. I can’t imagine what it’s like for the employees who have to work with Donna and are subjected to her abuse and hostility daily. She is sinking the ship and she’s a terrible representation of not only this property but of Marriott in general.There is absolutely no customer service at this establishment. You literally wake up in the morning, but on your ski clothes and stroll onto the gondola. I dont understand the bad reviews. This is one of the nicest properties in all of Lake Tahoe. I have stayed at the Marriott in South Lake Tahoe many times. The rooms are large and clean. The property is very well kept. I never heard any significant amount of noise in the hallway unless I opened the door out to the hall.During one stay, I did have some college students partying across the hall, but once my front door was closed, I could no hear them, so no big deal.The pool is heated and nice in both he spring and summer. The only option is to valet your car on the hotel grounds. So we did. One of the Valet attendants scratched our rim, I contacted the hotel after we checked out because thats when we noticed it. They did nothing to fix the problem thus far. They reviewed footage and claimed there was possibly one occurrence where it could have happened, but did not take responsibility. The rim is extremely expensive and my husband is always sure to park his car carefully as to not scratch it. He has not scratched it for the 2 years hes owned the car because hes been that careful. The stay itself was nice, however money is all that matters to this Marriott location. I needed to leave a day early due to storm that was hitting the area Sunday evening. I wanted to make it home safely and leaving on Monday would have been dangerous. I checked out before 3pm on Sunday and was told by the check out person that I would receive a full refund for the unstayed night. He said I just needed to call and it would not be an issue. I spent 2 hours on the phone only to have the manager, Nate, tell me a refund was not possible because house keeping could not get to my room in time... so I guess their schedule is my fault and cost me $319. He said he had to make sure the owners got their money. Will never stay with Marriott again.

I would give this place 5 stars but I am quite annoyed at the parking situation. After checking the fine print of reserving this hotel there is no self parking. It also doesnt boldly note that they charge 29 dollars a day for their valet parking which is the option you are left with. I paid 180 a night for the rooms. Honestly I would have paid 210 a night, had they included parking, without me having to find out the way I did, and I would have been completely satisfied. One of my biggest pet peeves is hidden fees. While 29 dollars isnt much, when you are staying 5 nights here the 150 dollar parking fee plus tips to a Valet is quite annoying when I was unaware of it. Due to this I will not choose to stay here again. There are multiple options out here in Tahoe and this is poor business management when you operate your fees this way.

I stayed at the grand residence in spring of 2019 in a two bedroom condo. The hotel has great access to the mountain. However, I ran into many service, safety and security issues during my stay. First, The valet is not set up for the number of guests. It took over 45 minutes to get my car on day one, and one hour and 45 minutes to get my car on day two, all when the hotel suggested 15 minutes advance notice. Second, when checking out, the valet staff put all of my items in a unlocked room in the lobby area. They gave us access to this room with many others completely unprotected. Third and final, there is no lock in the men’s and women’s locker rooms, and I had a significant theft from a locked locker at this property. What I learned is that the hotel is not responsible for any stolen property on premise. In summary, great location but unsafe environment and therefore I would not be willing to take my family to this location. I am also not convinced the hotel leadership is aware or concerned about the safety issues.

Terrible experience. We spent $1300 for 3 nights. In the last night the fire alarm rang at 5am in the morning. We all had to evacuate and stand outside in the cold for 20 minutes. We ended up checking out around 8am after the fiasco. I asked cor some sort of credit but they said it was out of their control. Its their hotel, they are creating the experience. Highly recommend a visit to ride the gondola. I was confused finding this place from 35 years ago, but the man outside said This is it! for the gondola. A very nice gal at the gondola line explained to me that None of this existed 35 years ago. So that explained it! What Marriott has built is beautiful and bustling. We came on a Saturday in mid September. Lots of activity, beer tents, and bands. Since I was staying in North Tahoe this time, I wanted my friend to see Heavenly where I was before. The gondola ride is very special. Views stunning. At the top is an Adventure Park for all ages. My friend wants to bring her children/grandchildren. Lake Tahoe is a wonderful place to vacation. The best part was the fridge had an ice maker/ water dispenser in the door! The pool and hot tub looked great but we didnt get to use it unfortunately. The staff are really friendly. Valet parking $29/day but thats normal to pay anywhere. The only thing I missed were bathrobes, I think they were forgotten in our room. I have stayed several times. Reading the reviews people should realize the rooms in the hotel are not uniform. They are in general large rooms and almost all are suites. The pool is first rate. If possible get a room away fro Highway 50 and preferably facing the inner quad. Almost all suites have balconies and nobody wants to sit looking at Highway 50. Its also noisy.

They charge a lot for parking and on several occasions I was not able to get in touch with someone to have the car brought up. Made a reservation based on being told that the pool and spa was open. As we checked in my wife went to go get information from the pool staff. Pool staff notified her that reservations need to be made for the spa. My wife asked if she can make a reservation at that time. Had I known we weren’t going to be allowed to use the spa I would have booked elsewhere. I understand the need for precautions during COVID. That’s not the nature of my complaint. We were misinformed by the staff despite making it a point to go speak with them and inquire about the rules. What more were we supposed to do? I suggest the front desk notify guests about the spa reservation policy because the pool desk isn’t doing a great job at it.

They will not let you check in 1 minute before 4pm, and have a 10am check out time, the earliest Ive seen. They have outrageous cleaning fees, and no one really seemed to care about you at the facility, which was short staffed often. Maybe this is just California? The room(s) consistent of a variety of hotel-type room layouts that connect by shared doors, but still felt outdated and a little awkward. Booked a room for April 9th and 10th. On the drive up we saw that the road was closed due to a rock slide. Called the hotel and after 5 attempts finally got someone on the phone who was very nice and agreed to cancel our Friday night with no charge. So Saturday we attempted to make the 3 hour drive up again unfortunately to only find the road closed again. 6 hours later we arrive. I find out the checkout is 11 am. I ask if my status on Bonvoy which always gets me a late 4 pm checkout is okay. I’m told they don’t honor any status from Bonvoy which is surprising since they are the same company. I ask for an hour or two extra for a late checkout and am told no but to come back down later when another manager is on duty. I do just that and after waiting a very long time for a response I am told no again. I ask if they are full for Sunday and they respond no and ask me if I would like to book a room for another night. So they could give me a late check out for an hour or two but simply don’t want to. Even worse I am also informed that I’m going to be charged for Friday night as well as they have no record of me every calling in and canceling on Friday. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone as the management does not seem to care at all about their guests or they experience or their loyalty. Oh and I asked for the general managers email to register my complaint and was told I’d have to call back to get it.

DO NOT BUY Marriott Destination Points! They are a total rip off, that give you low end rooms, leaving you no access to the rooms that non owners can buy on a walk in basis or on the Bonvoy.com site, and they don’t have to pay the extremely expensive maintenance fees EVERY year.We went to South Lake Tahoe and my daughter joined us, so we saw the bi-level 2 bedroom plus a loft was available on The Bonvoy site, but the MVC owners site didn’t give that much information on the rooms, so I called and spoke to owners services to be sure we got the correct room type. They told me all they could do was give me a room that “may be” the correct type, but couldn’t guarantee it. So I called the resort directly. They have me the code that MVC had to use when making the reservation, so I had to call them back and after holding for 3 hours, they could not figure out how to do assign me the correct room type, they said it wasn’t available to me.So when we checked in I ask for loft room, I saw they were available on Bonvoy site and the hotels says they have those room’s unoccupied, but can not give them to me. They would rather leave the room unoccupied.I have been a Marriott Vacation Club owner for 20 years and recently got talked into ‘upgrading ‘ my timeshare ownership buying into the destination points program. What they don’t tell you is that anyone has more access to the rooms on The Bonvoy site then they provide to owners. This is the second resort now that I have the points and the rooms are available on Bonvoy.com but not on MVC. DO NOT buy into this program!

The best people Ive come across from the valet to the event coordinator (Lindsay.) The stay for our honeymoon was absolutely amazing. The location couldnt be better as its close to literally everything. The rooms were super clean, modern and provided pretty much everything you could possibly imagine from fireplace to an extremely comfortable bed...and even a crock pot. Tyler Young helped relocate us to a village location directly across from the Base Lodge Pizza entrance (band and karaoke nightly). We loved the convenience and the noise pretty much ended by 10pm. I originally thought they were the same entrance so I went to the timber lodge instead. Their valet team did not welcome us instead went straight into getting my information for my car. We have always had a pretty good stay when booking at the Marriott, until we visited South Lake Tahoe, more precisely, Heavenly Village.For some reason when you walk up to the front desk to book a room, they tell you to call their 800 number and book it with someone on the phone. Okay great room first night, the second day WITHOUT notice they deactivated our keys to the room. When I came back to get my camera and photography equipment to photograph a wedding the door/key would not work ...panic!!I went to the front desk and asked what the heck was going on, they said oh we had to deactivate your key. I asked why, they said we might have to have change rooms, after they reassured us we would not have to change rooms after all.I called The Marriott directly to tell them about our experience while staying there, they did not apologize for this huge inconvenience and added stress, in fact I just got the standard lip service.So much for their Marriotts Rewards program! I made a 1 month advance reservation at this Marriott Property to the tune of $390. I called and canceled the reservations within 4 days of making them as my plans had changed. When reviewing my credit card statement I found the charge but did not find the refund for promptly canceling. Upon calling today I was informed that it was a promotional rate and non refundable. That would have been nice to see during the reservation process!! NOT buried in the the small print on the confirmation email. Having worked as a manager in the hospitality industry for over 25 years this is just money grabbing disgusting behavior and Marriott should be embarrassed to pull such a bait and switch sales scam. Life happens and peoples plans change, and part of being in the hospitality industry is to accommodate and work with those changes. That is what generates good relationships and return guests. Great rooms for a family and close (as in walking distance) to every amenity you could want in Lake Tahoe. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The rest of the facilities are also great!

The location is as good as it gets. Near stateline for gambling fun, Heavenly Ski Resort right there. Rooms have plenty of space with kitchen which is my number one. Service is great. Asked for extra blankets and they were right on it.

For being a 4 star resort, my wife and me were very disappointed. The room description was misleading, few amenaties are offered, and I would not recommend this hotel. You can do better elsewhere. Some of the staff was also very rude and we made the decision to leave early.

We stay at the Grand Residences every summer for a week and love it here. Great pools, lake and hikes for my wife and 2 kids ( 5 & 7 ). If you ask, you can also get access to Timber Lodge pool too.

Enjoyed the hotel but was disappointed that the staff didn’t promptly mail a piece of correspondence I asked them to mail and, instead, let it sit in their outbox for a few days. If the hotel batches guest mail and sends it at the end of the week, a heads-up would’ve been thoughtful and appreciated (‘This won’t go out until Friday. Is that okay?’). I would’ve said no, driven over to the Post Office, and mailed it myself. Sometimes it’s the little things that count. That mail delay cost me.

I booked it through Marriot app. I thought it was a Marriott hotel, but when I checked in, I was told by the front desk that it was not a real Marriott and therefore it does not follow the Marriott rules such as allowing gold member to have early check in or late check.out. Further, for a $480/night room, I was expecting some bath robes or slippers (like Marriott everywhere else), but my room didnt provide any of this. I called the front desk to ask. Again, the answer is we are not real Marriott and we dont follow Marriott standard. This answer was disappointing, because I booked through Marriott app. AND the hotel has Marriott name in it.Overall, I felt cheated throughout my stay.

Do not do business with this location. My credit card was charged over 600$ in fraudulent charges and when I called to inquire they told me sorry we cant give you any info please call your bank. Be cautious! They claim they require an ID for all transactions but when you ask how my CC was charged they wont help!

I am a Marriot premier platinum user, so I use Marriott properties whenever I can. This is not a Marriot hotel, I would not recommend getting a room here if you expect to be treated with any sort of respect. This is a timeshare location and rooms are at the mercy of the people who share the rooms. The checkin times are much later and they are inflexible, I would not mind this if there was any place on the Marriot app, site or any notification that this property does not work like a normal property.

We were not told construction was happening in the room above us. We were woken up every morning. When we asked after the first morning if we could move were on our honeymoon they said we couldnt and we would have to just deal with it. Not sure why they would offer a room that has construction going on right above it. 3 nights and 4 days of loud noise and a ruined honeymoon.

Marriott never fails to impress! The lobby is very elegant and welcoming. Conveniently located on the border of Nevada and California, youre just walking distance from gambling, shopping, restaurants, Northstar Village. Nearby beaches such as Regan Beach, Nevada beach, and Pines beach.

Very pleasant stay, would recommend to anyone who just wants comfort and a nice place to rest away from home. Definitely will be coming back hopefully longer than one night but was still worth it nonetheless.
