Mario took such good care of me and my car! Service was quick, efficient, and thorough. My tires were losing air and Mario got 4 new ones put on in just 4 hours and gave me a loaner vehicle to drive in the meantime so I didn’t have to cancel my appointments. The car was returned to me washed and clean as well! Grateful for such excellent service.

Episode of superior serviceLast week, I had a flat tire on my Subaru Outback. Triple A attended to my immediate need and attached my spare tire.I then called Marin Subaru and was very pleasantly surprised at how urgent they considered my request after Triple A told me not to drive unless necessary on the fragile donut spare tire.I made an immediate appointment on the same day to come in for the tire assessment.I was seen despite a very busy Friday schedule. They took me in and assessed the damaged tire which was 6 years old and had inadequate tread. Since I have all wheel drive, the Service Advisor Victoria advised me that all four tires would need to be replaced. She explained why and I was relieved that this could be done right away as they had the exact Bridgestone original equipment tires that I wanted in stock at a reasonable price.Due to the other customers needing their new tires balanced on that Friday afternoon, we soon realized that the installation couldn’t be completed until Monday morning. So Victoria offered me a brand new loaner car for the weekend. I graciously accepted. And picked up the car the following Monday.So I am happy to report all is well. My five star rating goes to Victoria and Marin Subaru. They handled my situation with such great caring, expertise and precision.

I have to say I had a great experience today at Marin Subaru. Everyone was helpful and kind. Victoria and George were terrific. But most of all Bruno Rodrigues was particularly outstanding. Bruno took care of me when I arrived for my appointment for service. I explained to him a couple of items that needed some attention. When I got a call, my car was ready I stopped by to pick it up and Bruno was extremely busy. Victoria took the time to complete my service and send me on my way, she was great too. What I was really impressed with was that I got a call from Bruno after I left with a follow up on all the little details that I had spoken to him about first thing in the morning. I’ll be returning next week to complete my service. He told me all the things that would be followed up on. He didn’t miss one item that I mentioned, including the light on the driver side visor that needed replacing but he didn’t have the part. It’ll be fixed next week. Got to say I will look forward to my next visit thank you.

I want to bring to your attention my dissatisfaction with the service experience at Marin Subaru. Although our service advisor, Victoria, was fantastic, the service policies at Marin Subaru are not customer-friendly. I specifically requested a software/firmware update for my Outback’s infotainment system, and I was informed that it would cost $255. This is unacceptable, as it should be covered under warranty and considered standard procedure to keep a customer’s car up to date. Additionally, the premium cost of the oil change and tire rotation, totaling over $150, is unreasonable compared to what other service providers charge. Despite these upscale costs, the car was not washed after the service. While I appreciate the competence of the service, I find it unconscionable to pay such high premiums for these services.

The people at Marin Subaru are the best! Very friendly and extremely helpful. I had a package to take to the UPS store, they drove me and said they could pick me up as well. I had my dog with me and chose to walk back. When I arrive back at the dealership they provided both my dog and me with a cold glass of water.

Phenomenal service. Fast, organized, and nice people too. The turnaround was quick on what ended up being a warranty repair. Mario kept me informed, and I received a good loaner. I even learned a couple of local trout fishing spots from Christian! Great shop.

After purchasing my beloved Subaru Legacy Spec B in downtown Oakland some years ago, I moved to San Rafael and soon discovered that not all Subaru service departments and dealers offer polite and competent customer service. Marin Subaru has been consistently rude and unhelpful, both to me and my husband. We have managed by going to other dealers further away when I need service. It is worth the extra distance not to interact with rude employees. If google reviews offered the option of no stars, that is what I would choose.

I have always had a great experience at Marin Subaru, until my most recent visit with Victoria Marie. She did not take me seriously and did not represent a clear understanding of my vehicle and my requests and questions regarding the service. She gave me limited guidance on the purpose of work done on my vehicle and upon checkout was not able to accurately clarify why specific actions were done. I love my Subaru and hope to get better service in the future.

I went to get an oil change at a much closer shop, but they couldnt complete the job because the drain plug was over-tightened by Marin Subarus service department and about to break if they removed it. I had to drive a full hour to Marin Subaru so they could undo their mistake. Instead of offering any discount, they offered to rip me off with a $150 service; then they offered $120, and then $89. So with tax, I had the pleasure of spending MORE money than I would have at my closer option, and wasting almost four hours driving back and forth to drop the car off and pick it up. The only plus is they gave me a nice loner vehicle. Any ethical shop would have comped this job, but dealerships arent known for being ripoff artists for nothing. And then they asked me to post a review! Here it is :)

I brought my car in to the Subaru Dealership in San Rafael because there was a recall that needed to be addressed. I dealt with Bruno who was very nice and helpful and answered certain questions I had regarding my car. They were VERY BUSY and I thought I would have to leave my car there all day. I mentioned to Bruno that if at all possible, I would like to pick it up before the end of the day. I brought it in at 8:a.m.and by 11:30 I was able to pick it up. The recall was taken care of and the oil was also changed. Bruno was very polite and helpful.

Edit: I responded to the comment on this review and was contacted by someone at Marin Subaru. After talking they agreed to issue a refund. I appreciate the refund however it took leaving a negative review after I went through the formal complaint process. Subaru of America was very helpful with my original complaint and encouraged me to leave the negative review given my experience at Marin SubaruPoor communication, Inconsistent information about my vehicle, and Inaccurate with determining what was actually wrong with my vehicle.Worst service experience I’ve ever had a Subaru dealer. I travel extensively for work and often take my car to dealers when I’m away from my home garage. I know it’s more expensive but I rely heavily on my car so I want quality service. I still love Subaru but will never ever be going back to this dealer.I paid a $235 diagnostic fee only to find out later they put in minimal effort to see what was wrong. They gave me a $4000 repair quote which was inconsistent and turns out inaccurate. I came in because my dash light indicated a malfunction with the tire pressure monitoring system. Per the documentation they gave me they got no code and my service advisor admitted the tech did not even get the light to come on when they drove it. Instead of looking any further they just blanket recommended 4 new tire pressure sensors. This was in addition to replacing all four rims and tires because I had two bent rims.Overwhelmed by the quote amount and a nagging feeling that everything didn’t match up I took my car to an independent garage for a second opinion. They were able to tell me within 20 minutes that the tire pressure sensors were damaged by the bent rims. They fixed both in an afternoon for less than a quarter of the cost I was quoted at Subaru.I came in for an issue with my tire pressure monitoring system and they didn’t even look at the sensors!! What did I pay a diagnostic fee for?!I pursued getting a refund but was told the dealer refused. There was more that was frustrating than I can fit in one review. I recommend taking your car anywhere else.

It was an expensive repair, axle and brake pads, over $3000 of work. The loaner car was a very nice 2024 Crosstrek. They allowed me to keep the loaner 24 hrs which was convenient for me coming in to pick up my car.The problems started when I went to pick up my car. I called Mario to let him know I was coming when I was in my driveway; I got an immediate rushed “this is Mario, can you please hold” which did not allow me to answer. I was still on hold when I drove into the service area and showed Mario my phone. He said another customer had come in and he got distracted and forgot me and continued with that customer while I waited another five minutes. After that I paid and my car was brought out. In the past Marin Subaru has done a quick window wash, wipe down of dash and occasionally vacuumed. This time, although they had the car 24 hours and I had spent a LOT of money, there was nothing done to my vehicle.The whole experience did NOT make me feel like a valued customer of Marin Subaru, although I have brought my car there for every servicing since i bought it in 2015.

I moved to San Rafael in May of 2023. This is my second service here at Marin Subaru. Though I have to say it’s a bit off putting not being able to actually speak with someone on their phone, Victoria took very good care of me. She’s helped me both times here. Overall, I always have a great experience getting my Forester serviced at Marin Subaru. They are knowledgeable and always up for answering my questions and/or explaining in more detail on what is being done with my car. I did have to wait 20 minutes from my original appointment time to check in, which was not ideal. Also, would be nice if they offered 10% discount for people who buy their Subaru directly from the dealership next door, since we have now purchased a Forester and Crosstrek. That said, Ill continue to take our car here for regular service since I trust the certified dealership technicians the most.

Ive called this service center four times over the course of the past week to ask for a quote to replace the clutch on my car. Calls two and four only resulted in reaching an answering machine so I left a voicemail containing my request, name, and number but I never received return calls. I did end up speaking to an operator and a service representative for the first and third calls, again leaving my request for quote, name, and number each time. On both these occasions the operator/service rep. told me they would call me back with the quote (in the case of the service rep, in 10-15 minutes) but they never did.

I have been coming to marin Subaru for service ever since i bought my car almost 5 years ago, and have had great service. The staff are very friendly and eager to help, and they treat me and my dog Joe well.The waiting area is always clean and comfortable with free Wi-Fi, coffee, and laptop desks as well as comfy chairs.I generally have been happy with the service coordinators, but its important to know how to navigate between getting the services you want and the mileage based packages offered.

They have provided loaner vehicles when my repair is going to take all day or longer. The waiting area could be a little nicer and with a few more amenities such as snacks since there’s no markets ir restaurants nearby. .

My Crosstrek had two fairly significant problems to fix. My contact was with John Cox. I had purchased warranty protection when I bought the car used. John dealt directly with the warranty provider, confirmed the coverage, received payment directly so that I did not have to front payment and seek reimbursement. Also, John confirmed that one of the problems was covered directly by Subaru on its own extended warranty (the car is over 5 years old). John provided a loaner car, and kept me constantly updated on the repair progress. I am fully satisfied with the quality of the repair process from start to finish. John is a very professional and service-oriented good guy, and I recommend him and his service team without qualification.

Victoria was great. She was very helpful in every way she could, and communicated well, too. My problem is with the fact that someone behind the scenes tried to swindle me out of $6400. My type of engine and exhaust system is under warranty under state regulation up to 150,000 miles, and they tried to tell me that my car did not apply, and was only covered up to 80,000 miles (mine was at 90k), and quoted me double what my local mechanic quoted me to fix the same problem. I had to print out their own website statements, recall letters, and state warranty laws, which Victoria graciously said shed pass along, and turns out I was right. The way it all played out felt very fishy and left me feeling uneasy. Hopefully it was just an unintentional oversight.

I purchased my car at Subaru of Marin 5 years ago and have continued to use them for maintenance . What keeps me coming back to Subaru of Marin are people like Mario. He’s a longtime employee who has always provided excellent, professional service with a smile. My only big complaint is that prior to the Covid pandemic they used to offer a driver who would pick you up and drop you off after leaving your car. When the pandemic hit they said they had to stop this great customer service, but it seems now that the pandemic is over they have decided to discontinue this service for good.

Was a very satisfied customer in the past but since Im being asked to review my most recent visit I guess Ill say Im not too happy...Brought car in to have oil changed and tires inspected for leak and rotated. After paying $600(!), tires didnt get rotated, tire pressure sensor is no longer working properly and I was charged excessively for a new battery I had no evidence for needing but approved without realizing the cost of $350 being quoted was for the battery alone and not all work being done. 200+150 labor for a battery?!

I bought my car at this dealership brand new in 2018. Great experience. A month ago I had an accident happen that damaged my AC, and also needed to take care of my brakes and other things for upkeep(wanted a multi point visual inspection to see what I need done aside from the damage of the accident).I hate to mention this due to the incredible service provided after, but I have to because it was truly shocking.At first, my experience was very unpleasant due to a woman in the service department who was not allowing me to speak or express concern. She felt it was more important to inform me of her 7 years of experiences in various industries and actually told me to leave and did not want to take my money for a diagnostic, and assured me that the AC for my vehicle could not be fixed here- and several times told me that she knows nothing can be done for me here and I need to go to a body shop. (What?!)After I realized she did not want me there, I asked to speak to someone else. I have no idea why she treated me this way. I was being polite and simply wanted service done for the appointment I had scheduled After spending 20 minutes speaking with her, she relayed the complete incorrect information to her manager due to her not listening, rolling her eyes at me, and not wanting me there for whatever reason. Pretty bad for business and bad representation as everyone else that works there is wonderful.The IMPORTANT part:LUCKILY, I was brought to the service manager Raymond. He let me speak and and started writing my concerns and what I needed fixed/looked at. He explained everything VERY clearly, was honest, and went above and beyond to make sure that my car was repaired and safe to take out on the road.Bruno then took over and was also very pleasant, great communicator, able to answer every question and address every concern. The work was done quickly and efficiently. I left happy, and feeling safe and taken care of. My car drives as if it’s brand new! I’ve gotten several big services done (I also purchased my brand new Subaru there in 2021) and each time I have to Uber there and get maintenance. I noticed last time they have car loaners but have never been offered one. At other subaru dealers I get offered them. I am disappointed because I end up spending $60-80 on Ubers and saw other customers take loaner cars out :(. I also see in other reviews customers get free loaners. When I asked about it I felt like they really didn’t want to admit to me they have free loaners- it was odd. Like I wasn’t worthy of one? Overall, my experience with Marin Subaru was a rather poor one. The sales experience was a lengthy and cumbersome process where I had to spend a good amount of time to ensure that the car that I ordered was correctly configured, just to find out (myself) after delivery, that some important features were missing. There was little attempt from the sales person to make it right and correct their mistake.The impression continued with the service department where it took a long time and a lot of handholding to get things done.I think that most people at the dealership are genuinely nice people, but I feel that additional trainings and improved operational processes could go a long way to help to improve the overall customer experience.The car (2024 Subaru Outback) is great though :)

We had some unfortunate car trouble on our way to Lake Tahoe driving from San Francisco. I had to have my car towed from Rancho Cordova to Marin Subaru where I purchased the car. I don’t know how to rate this. I was asked to rate my experience with Victoria, the concierge who checked me in a kept me updated. She was very pleasant and I could tell she is probably new on the job, so wasn’t concerned that it took a little longer to check in than in the past and that she overlooked that I had a prepaid service contract until I pointed it out when I was ready to leave. That was all ok. I asked her how long the service would take since I purposely arrived 10 minutes early for my 10:30 appointment. I had my two huskies with my, so getting out early for a simple 18k service seemed within the realm of expectation. She said it would be 2 hours, which I thought was extremely long, but begrudgingly agreed to wait since I had no other option. At 2.5 hours of waiting I texted her and she said it would not be ready until 1:00. Not her fault and I don’t want the frustration with the time to cloud my review of Victoria. I have been having my vehicles serviced at Marin Subaru since 2016, and have purchased my most recent one there in 2022. I really regret paying the hefty service contract price at purchase to get such disappointing service. Since the agency sold, the personal touches and nice amenities such as a car wash and complimentary rides if needed disappeared with no indication they’ll be reinstated. Meanwhile, the building itself got a remodel and the prices are all up. I would rather have no fancy coffee machine and free Wi-Fi while I waited over 3 hours waiting with two bored dogs and a very irritated spouse.My recommendation to the agency is please manage your customers’ expectations when scheduling appointments. State clearly online that these times are for batches of cars, and if they’re running behind schedule, you may not want to wait, in which case there will be a complimentary ride scheduled for you to drop off and pick up your vehicle. It seems the money spent in rides would pay far greater rewards in good will and return customers. At this point I can emphatically state I have purchase my last car from Sunwise/Marin Subaru.

The key was sticking in the lock of my Subaru Outback. I tried everything the Internet suggested and was not feeling hopeful about the prognosis. When the key officially wouldnt budge, I headed to Marin Subaru, where I bought the car.
