My husband and I had Manuel and Melissa take our engagement and wedding photos in June and September of 2022. They are an exceptional team who are professional, passionate, and make the experience feel fun and relaxed.They made us laugh, feel comfortable, and most importantly, they took great photos!Melissa had an eye for making sure that we looked our best and Manuel had the eye for the scenery and natural beauty nearby! Together, they were able to capture breathtaking photographs. Our photos looked so natural and the background scenery was amazing!Also, I greatly appreciated that they listened to what mattered most to us and they delivered! So many great memories were caught on camera of our guests on our wedding day. So many special moments that my husband and I didn’t get to see but were able to enjoy in their photography.I highly recommend this power duo! I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

Manuel’s wife Melissa is a talented photographer in her own right and together they work efficiently and effectively as a team on all their shoots. They were both an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. We also enjoyed meeting their adorable son who came along with them to our engagement photo session!We spent days searching for our ideal wedding photographer. It was important to us to work with a person of color, and we are so grateful that we found Manuel, a fantastic photographer who is also Latino. We could not have chosen better. Unlike many other high quality, professional wedding photographers we researched whose prices are astronomical, Manuel’s pricing is reasonable, affordable, flexible, and it allowed us to stay within our budget, which we greatly appreciated.For our engagement photo session, we met Manuel at a beautiful beach in the Carmel area just before sunset. It turned out to be an ideal spot for our engagement photo shoot and we were very happy with how the photos turned out. The setting was gorgeous, lighting ideal, and there was hardly anybody else there. Manuel helped put us at ease immediately with his relaxed manner and professionalism, which made it easy for us to follow his instructions and get some great candid and posed shots. Manuel’s top-of-the-line camera equipment takes amazing photos with him at the helm. Melissa helped out with the backlighting and instructing us on ideal hand and body positions for the shots. We highly recommend doing the engagement photo session. It gave us a chance to get to know Manuel & Melissa and to develop rapport and an easy working relationship with them prior to the wedding. So, on our wedding day, we knew what to expect and already felt at ease working together.Prior to the wedding, Manuel promptly answered all our questions and we also had a great final conversation with him about our specific photography wishes/preferences for our wedding day. Manuel & Melissa delivered in every way. On our wedding day, they showed up early to familiarize themselves with the venue since they hadn’t been there before. As a team, they captured all the most important moments of our day, as well as the memorable details. They also did a great job capturing the setting, including the food, the dinner reception set up, the flowers, and beautiful aspects of the venue. Notably, despite the fact that our wedding got off schedule because our ceremony ran longer than we had anticipated, Manuel & Melissa adapted to the situation admirably and went with the flow, doing their best to capture family photos after the ceremony, even though we essentially ran out of time for them! They improvised beautifully under the circumstances.When we received our 1000+ wedding photos from Manuel a few weeks after the wedding, we were blown away. Working with Manuel and his wife Melissa was a great experience! I havent had a photo shoot done since my senior pictures, which was about 8-9 years ago, and this was my fiances first photo shoot, so we were definitely nervous and our anxiety was at an all time high! Manuel and Melissa definitely made us feel at ease with everything and just made our whole engagement session run smoothly. They have the best personality and a great sense of humor, which definitely helped our nervousness. We are SO IN LOVE with our photos!!!! I got married in December and the venue recommended Manuel Ortega Photography. Manuel and Melissa are absolutely wonderful and very professional. I’m so happy my hubby and I decided to go with them. They made the experience magical and so stress free. I had two of my fur babies as my ring bearers and the rest of my fur babies as guests. Manuel and Melissa took my sons senior portraits and they turned out so amazing that it was hard to pick the top three! My son is a surfer and Manuel was able to meet him on the beach and take some fabulous pictures. My son said Manuel was very nice and funny and very helpful instructing with different poses (my son hates taking pictures!). The pricing is great especially since you get the digital versions. That is priceless, actually! Manuel and Melissa were professional, timely, and flexible with scheduling and selecting photos. Definitely recommend them for any event!

From the first time we met Manuel, my husband and I knew he would be great, but we never imagined that he and his team would go so far above and beyond to make sure they captured every detail of our wedding. Manuel Ortega Photography is the ONEOn February 6, 2016, our destination wedding was in Monterey, California. The hotel we had our reception in had Manuel Ortega as one of the photographer vendors. Since we were from out of the area, we had no idea which photographer to use. We decided to just go through the photographer vendor list and interview all of them. Manuel was the second photographer we interviewed on the list and we stopped searching right after our meeting with him. Sometimes in life, you just have that gut feeling. As we got to talking with him, we knew right away that he was the ONE. He was so easy to talk to. It was like talking with a friend. With so many questions, he made us feel at ease and we never felt pressured at all. We took our engagement photos with him and it felt like a breeze. His wife Melissa was there to give advice during both the engagement shoot and the wedding. Their team is awesome to work with and we had a blast during all the shoots. We ended up going with his highest package and felt it was more than worth it. The photo album was amazing. It was well packaged and very professional. It was everything we imagined and hoped for. We also purchased a beautiful acrylic poster with our favorite photo. Probably the hardest decision was when we had to choose which photos we wanted to use. His work is so brilliant that you can’t just choose one photo. We loved that he was so easy to communicate with and that you can email him anytime and he always responds promptly. In spite that he was dealing with 10 of us in the pictures, he was very patient and took some great Pictures!! I recently Hired him for my engagement Photo Session and my pictures are AMAZING!! First off, I can definitely say that Manuel and his wife Melissa, truly Captured the Art of Life for my wife and I. We were having a baby and wanted a photographer who could take photos of our sons first couple of days of life. I knew it would be tough to find one not knowing when he would actually arrive. After researching local photographers, I ended up contacting Manuel hoping he would be able to meet my needs; newborn baby photos, and a flexible schedule. I noticed he didnt specialize in newborn photo shoots, but still reached out to him since I fell in love with his photographs. After a single phone call and message, I felt as if I had hit the jackpot! He was willing to work with me to make it happen. He was able to take photos of our newborn son a day after he was born. He was able to turn a simple hospital room into the perfect backdrop. Manuel was able to capture in the moment photos that looked as if we were posing. Looking at the pictures hanging on our walls taken by Manuel puts the biggest smile on my face. I couldnt be happier with my decision to have Manuel photograph my family.

Not only was he prompt in getting back to me about his availability and rates, he was absolutely wonderful throughout the process.I absolutely hate getting my picture taken - but Manuel was so professional and warm, it was nowhere near as awful as I had imagined!! Manuel was funny and kind - guiding me through the photo shoot - showing me each pose as we worked. I immediately relaxed when he started shooting and was thrilled with the pictures - even before he had a chance to send them to me.He was able to capture me in a genuine laugh - due to his friendly nature - and I couldnt be happier. I of course went right back to the Ortegas for Masens senior portraits. I was unsure of how Masen would do because he cant stay still for very long. Manuel and Melissa made him feel very comfortable, and were so patient with him. Masen was very happy and excited. That led to sharing funny wedding stories and from there who knew 3 months later, I would travel from Toronto Canada to the Monterey bay to take a master class with one of the premier wedding photographers. Manuel and Melissa truly captured the magic of our special day in frozen moments of time (a.k.a. photos).They instantly understood our vision and tone for our wedding photography. We didnt want gross posed shots or things that looked like they were pulled directly from Instagram. NO, we wanted a photographer to truly capture the authentic and meaningful moments of our intimate wedding from start to finish.Manuel and Melissa did just this with poise, grace and skill. Not to mention, they are a BLAST to work with. It was literally like working with family! You can tell they truly love what they do and are expert craftsman (and women). They also work hard and fast while getting AMAZING high quality gorgeous photos. In fact, they made all those annoying family photos you have to take after the ceremony fun, fast and great so that I could get on the dance floor. Thanks for that guys!The end result is 800 wonderful moments in time from start to finish that capture one of the most memorable and magical moments in my life. I cant recommend these guys enough. Im literally searching for an excuse to have a huge event so that I can work with them again.
