I was so impressed by how Maho Prentice handled my personal injury claim. I was primarily Jessica Phillips client and could not have been more pleased by her professionalism, availability, skill and support. Most of all, she got me the best settlement I could have received. I felt that I was in the her capable hands throughout the process. I was knocked off my scooter by a US mail truck. Because I only had liability coverage my insurance company explained that they had no skin in this game. The post office took a report but I could see that they would do nothing. I was referred to Maho Prentice by my Trust atty.Do not try to do this yourself, get represented. The team at Maho Prentice has been great. I had to get surgery after a car accident and they checked in on me and my recovery periodically to make sure I was healing well which really emphasized how much they cared about returning me back to a healthy state. Wrapping up my case was nearly 100% virtual due to COVID and they were still very responsive, supportive, emphatic, and advisable on everything that went into getting this completed. I can highly recommend Maho / Prentice attorneys at law. Chad Prentice has represented me twice now and done an excellent job each time. The first time in a personal injury settlement which resulted in me receiving the maximum benefit. The second time was an insurance matter where I was being sued in a subrogation case. Almost 3 years ago, while I was stopped at a stop light a drunk driver rear ended me at full speed. This caused a significant whip lash injury which made it very difficult for me to work and carry on with the responsibilities of life. I was fatigued all the time, had headaches on a regular basis, and had to go to the different doctors 3-4 times per week for months. This was all in conjunction with dealing with the stress of it limiting my ability to work and therefore creating significant loss of income. To make matters worse, the timing could not have been worse as it was during a time of transition as I had just come back from working in NYC for a period of time and was trying to get back and situated (moving, etc).Fortunately this was the first time that I had been involved in an accident which caused this much disruption and damage in my life. So I didnt have the knowledge or experience to know how to find the best attorney for myself. It took having an awful experience with a previous attorney to then find Chad Prentice (who was referred to me by a friend). Once I started working with Chad, it became apparent of just how awful the previous attorney was and how hard it can be out there when trying to find an attorney who is honest, works hard for you, and has your best interest in mind always! I was involved in a Bike Accident where the driver pulled out in front of me into the bike lane. Having never sued anyone for personally injury, I was in a real quandry to know what to do or where to go when my foot was crushed by an absent-minded, and blithe waiter. After being injured in an accident with an uninsured motorist, I was at first angry, worried, scared and very frustrated. My insurance wouldnt do anything for me and said they couldnt cover because the other person was saying he did have coverage, which he obviously didnt. I was lost, in pain, no health insurance and only car insurance which was not helpful. I saw Chad Prentice a couple days after my accident, signed a couple of forms, saw a Dr. that Chad recommended and had worked with before (at no cost to me). Chad said he would take care of the rest and that from here on out my job was to feel better. Got a check in the next few days to cover some of my car repairs, didnt have to talk to anyone else at the insurance company, all my medical bills taken care of, and healthy settlement to boot. Relief is probably the best word to describe what I felt after going through such trauma. Chad Prentice made quick work of the insurance company which was treating me like a piece of trash, got me fixed up with the doctors and alleviated all the bad things that came with the accident. Chad is a true professional, kept me up to date on how things were going, gave me a realistic advice on how everything would go, made his staff readily available when I had questions and really just made a literally painful situation kind of just go away. I recently had an excellent experience was Chad Prentice representing me in a bodily injury case. He and his office staff were always available and friendly. They sincerely cared about me during the entire process. And, Chad is a master negotiator, which proved useful in our interactions with the insurance company and their attorneys. I would describe myself as a reluctant client, in that I didnt want to have to sue the company. Yet, because the legal system is such as it is, the insurance company did not offer me any settlement prior to the two year deadline by which one needs to file a case after an accident. I was referred to Maho and Prentice because a couple of years ago I was involved in a Personal Injury accident against the City of Santa Barbara. I fell in a broken water meter hole and the city refused to accept responsibility for my accident. I was ignored by the city and the doctor bills started to pile up. My husband and I were involved in a head on collision on Christmas Day 2015. Although I basically walked away with minor cuts & bruises, my husband was pinned in the car. Whether you are reading this today because of a Personal Injury or perhaps like our family, a Wrongful Death, you are at a cross roads in your life where you need to make very important decisions. You may even be searching this site to help a friend or a family member who you know is hurting. I want you to know that I felt the same way.It was just over 3 years ago when we lost our father due to a mistake made by an errant driver. At the time, we knew very little about the facts of the case but as the facts grew, I knew that we would need the help of someone who knew their way around such matters from a legal perspective, regardless of how smart I thought I was. Based on the circumstances of the case, I also knew that it would not be easy and if we were to ever find a chance of a just settlement, it wasn’t going to come from any insurance company.I then did what you are doing right now. I went to the internet! Now we all know that the internet is often our default source of information but we also know that it can in turn become sort of “Black Hole” in finding what we need. This is especially true when the matter is more complicated than finding a vender who has what we are looking for and comes with a great return policy.I did have the good fortune however of having a “cross reference” tool and a good network of friends/associates who knew the Law Firm of Maho/Prentice, LLP. A friend/associate had a direct connection with Tyrone Maho so that was of great help. Being a native in the same town where they practice, I then also cross referenced the firm with a retired attorney friend of mine who then gave me the okay. The okay wasn’t for me to hire them but rather it was my process of vetting the firm. Once I had what I needed, I made the decision to conduct my interview with the firm. It would only make sense for you to do the same with any and all candidates of your choosing.As you may have guessed, I did make the decision to hire the firm and it was a decision that I knew right away that I would never regret. What folks need to understand is that often in these matters, you are going to be working very closely with the firm of your choice and it may be for well over a year and in our case more. You need to be comfortable, honest and open in order to get the best out of the team you have selected but I digress.Hiring and working with both Tryone, his staff, and Jessica Phillips who later came on board to become a key and integral factor during the management of our case, was a real blessing. It has to be one of my better decisions as it relates to the dealings and affairs of our deceased father.
