Beautiful Historic Train Station in operation till now. Ones can see some specific European style arches and decorations inside the hall. A nice place for photography, which makes the passengers feel living in the last century. There are two different halls of east and west. While the west one is the original one and the east one is the modern one. However, one can buy train tickets only in West hall while LA Metro in East Hall. There is a long walking distance between the two halls. The staff are helpful anyway.

We went to LA Union Station to catch the Dodgers tram. Walking through the station was filled with amazing architecture. As you marvel at the beautiful workmanship, you wonder what it was like back in the day. Many eating and drinking establishments add to the experience. The only negative was the number of homeless individuals lounging around. Incident free, but always be aware.

April 2024One of the most beautiful central station in USA. You can take light rail, subway, commuter rail and Amtrak from the station. Further, you can get the bus service from outside.Station is beautiful and still remind you past glory. There are many shops and restaurants inside so you can enjoy food.

Took the union station bus to the dodgers game. Not too hard. Followed the instructions, and the buses took us back. Same on our way back. Do not take an Uber. There are a lot of illegal drivers haggling with you for a ride. They wanted $150. That’s absurd. Just take the bus.

Beautiful and vintage railway station connecting all major routes to US . Amtrak, metro link, local metro lines etc . Very clean and have lot of vendors store . Beautiful outdoor sitting area.

Beautiful building in a beautiful neighborhood. We enjoyed our trip to the station, which is a combination of old Hollywood glamour and modern convenience.On our previous visit, we caught our northbound train and found everyone very helpful. For people who don’t normally travel by train, this experience was an excellent introduction.

We are connecting to another train. The place is huge and seems to be pretty well run. The seating area is gated off to permit ticket holders in, so it doesnt fill with homeless. Though the restrooms are not gated off and were quite full of homeless. Starbucks, Wetzels, and Subway in the station as well as a small convenience mart are available.

I catch trains in and out of Union all the time. It’s no doubt a beautiful building architecturally. Getting in and out is fairly easy with the ride share area and metro options downstairs. I also really appreciate how clearly visible and intuitive train info is. Get to the tunnel, and look up. It’s pretty hard to mess it up from there. Took one star off because obviously it could be cleaner and have better management of the homeless population that takes over the bathrooms. But I mean, it’s a train station in Los Angeles… it’s inevitable.

Great train routes, complimentary shuttle to the ball game, just homeless in and around the building. Dash line is free for the time being and makes it easy to navigate Los Angeles. Just be mindful of your surroundings, as there are homeless.

Like everyone says what a beautiful station. Its just amazing...... and it ends there. Came of the Amtrak Sunset Liner arrived at 4:40 am. to nothing. The only place to get something to eat or drink was Tramana Fresh Food Market. But there are 3 tables you can stand at, the bathrooms are full of homeless people sleeping in the stalls. And the security in the yellow jackets are too bothered when you ask them a question.One told me she was off the clock, another said it would be $28 to answer questions.There are No Chairs or benches in the station, except at the Amtrak section and those are fenced off and guarded for customers of Amtrak. Does not compare to Chicago where its just as beautiful but more welcoming to visitors. Everyone here is so busy they dont acknowledge your existence.

On your way south, perhaps to see a dying friend for the last time, youve never noticed how very gray and gloomy the day looks.The Surfliner, an unusually beautiful ride south from Los Angeles to Oceanside, CA; this time you are very sensitive to your first view - Los Angeles Mens County Jail.Its funny. I traveled by AMTRAK from L.A. to San Diego it was about 3 and a half hours (The price was $27 USD so its a really good option if we compared this to the bus). The architecture of this place will please you (all the spaces are very big). Also if you go all the way down to the Union Station East you will find a big aquarium. Need to mention that later I saw the beautiful views of the pacific ocean and its beaches along the way. A great experience.🌿 Alex Ledesma Alpha.

Busy, busy, busy. Its impossible to find a place to sit down without an Amtrak ticket. The restrooms are filthy, and most times, the toilets are out of order. The vendors are overpriced, a typical tourist trap. Try to arrive at least an hour before your departure time. You have no choice of avoiding Union Station if youre riding on Amtrak or Metrolink. Enjoy the LA side show. But be careful!

A prime example of the best and worst of LA. Beautiful historic architecture, rich history, and somewhat useful public transportation all surrounded by trash and people living in tents.The gorgeous ceilings and cheap metro lines would be nice if you didnt have to step over individuals passed out on the floor, or avoid vomit and human feces.Unfortunate that this gateway to Los Angeles will be many peoples first impression, and yet its a true representation of a world class city plagued by decades of mans failures.

Had a great adventurous experience and also debunked a theory that traveling by train is expensive. I’m telling you this is the way to travel. I watched the traffic on the five as I flew pass on the train. love the ride to San Diego. The system is very efficient. It makes you appreciate America in a different way and valuing our transportation system. My train was 777 and it was all of that.

Outside the trains don’t run on time, but it’s a beautiful historic station so I’m upgrading my review. If you live in Los Angeles, you should at least once in your life take a southbound train to San Diego sit in the upper level and enjoy the view. Also, remember that this station is a historic treasure as you can see in the photos I travel all the way to Rome to see the Sistine chapel and you can just look at the ceiling of the union station.

This is such a calm and comfortable place. You could easily spend hours just admiring the architecture! I never felt bored while waiting for the train/metro. The staff are very courteous and helpful. Theres Subway for quick bites and Starbucks for your caffeine needs.Updates:I cannot stress enough how much I like this station! After 10 months from my original post, I can assure you that this place has only become better in terms of services and security. If you are lucky, you may even get a free piano concert (!) while waiting on comfortable sofas. Be sure to check out Union station West if you arrive at the eastern entrance.

Beautiful art deco train station.Sometimes, they have issues with the homeless who can be combative. Recently, it seems like they are cleaning it up. The station has 2 Starbucks, a Subway, Wetzel Pretzels, and a convenience store inside.

Returning home from a vacation, I found myself needing transportation from Los Angeles to my hometown. I arrived at Union Station in an Uber ride. I was immediately struck by the impressive architecture and the remarkable cleanliness of Union Station. Its grandeur left a lasting impression on me.However, as a first-time visitor, I initially had some confusion about how to find my train. Fortunately, an on-site employee came to my rescue, displaying exceptional friendliness and patience by personally guiding me to the correct platform. Their assistance was invaluable, and I truly appreciated their kindness.Thanks to this positive experience, Im eager to use this mode of travel again in the future. Im even considering planning a family trip to Union Station, as I believe the station itself could be a remarkable experience for them as well.

I was able to store my luggage there, I arrived before check in time at my Airbnb. Comfortable chairs, no real workspace, chairs had smaller movable table attached, there were snacks and drinks, I had not seen a water dispenser that had sparkling water before

FUN FACTS:• Union Station opened in May, 1939 - the last of the Great Railroad Stations• Ground Corncobs were used in the neutral coloured acoustical tiles to create a sound dampening material on the walls that attribute to very little echo in the Waiting Room, unlike most train stations.• The oversized leather chairs are Art Deco style and are carved from mahogany. They are unique to Union Station since all other train stations had benches in their waiting rooms.

Everything goes at Union Station! You’ll see everything and you must watch out at all times. It’s almost like a passage through times but once you get outside you’ll see things you may not have seen in your lifetime. It’s an urban safari. It’s true but I can’t describe it you have to see it to believe it. Encampments everywhere. The union station looks cool but expect to find it kind of dirty at times. The train gates/platforms are the worst. Use the bathrooms at your own risk. If you go here with your children don’t lose them from your sight. It’s a dangerous place at all times.

The station is one of the L.A. landmarks. The architecture is very beautiful and draws a lot of attention.However, I had no idea it would be so dangerous. Me and two other friends, we took an Uber and he asked us to be very careful in this region, because appearances can be deceiving. ⚠️But everything went well and we catch our AMTREK train without any problems.In the boarding area, there is a space reserved for passengers with a ticket already purchased, which is very good.There are many signs with information about the platforms.

It is one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. It is conveniently located in the heart of Losa Angeles. Paid parking is available for short - and long-term parking. It has bars, restaurants, coffee shops and gift shops. Walk around Olvera street awhile waiting for your departure time. Enjoy the oldest street in LA.

I enjoy taking the Amtrak train to San Diego . Its relaxing, you can read a book, listen to music, write out a greeting card, collect my thoughts, etc... Im able to get a few things done on the train that I cannot get done at home. I dont have to deal with traffic on the freeway or the crazy drivers.As for the customer service on the train 🚆, the crew members are courteous and helpful. I had the opportunity to try seating on the lower level and because I was traveling alone n being mature age with a bit of heavy luggage, it was convenient and had single seating didnt have to sit next to a stranger, but the ride itself is not as smooth as it is on the upper level.

This is a Very iconic location if you are visiting Los Angeles. The stations has been preserved very nicely. There are places to buy food. A Starbucks is located in the center of the station. Theres also a store to buy drinks snacks and other travel related items. The station also has other public transit. Like the metro rail subway type train. The metrolink service and of course Amtrak trains. Across the street from the station is Olvera street. Which is a small piece of Mexico. With shops, Mexican heritage museum and of course Mexican cuisine.

The station is huge and can be very easily confusing. Would recommend checking the stations map on the internet beforehand, especially if your transit time is quite less. Otherwise, you can explore or ask someone for help. The restrooms in the station is not the best, probably the train restrooms are better. If you have an Amtrak ticket then you have designated seating area and if you have a room or roomette ticket then you can access the first class lounge on the second floor.

Its been about 20 years since Ive been here and still love the historic building. The one thing I love about taking the train is that its not as crowded as the airplanes. Thats the same with the station. It wasnt that crowded people had their masks on and it was very easy to navigate through. Wish I couldve got some better photos. I loved the display of images they had on the wall and really wish I couldve had more time to look and admire them longer.

They have restored a few things, but it’s still sad to see the original chairs be taken away.It still has its charm, be sure to look above to appreciate the architecture and design.Connects to Amtrak and metro subways hub.There are food options available.The flyaway to LAX it’s $10 one way which is a great option.Pick up in the front off to the side, and there is a back entrance for pick up and drop off closer to the bus hubs

This place was and is still incredibly busy from the moment that I got off the train to the moment that I had to board the train again I will say that the place was fairly clean the main building of the transit station was quite spectacle to see was slightly confusing and the entire place seemed to be wheelchair accessible. Many hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people come through that station a day and the staff and any other workers there seem to be handling their job effectively. I also wanted to give a shout out to my train conductor early that morning he managed to have a different voice or impression of something or someone with every single stop and did it with so much Glee even the Grinch wouldve cracked a smile. Not sure what his name was or who he is, but he loves his job and does it well, thats for sure.

I actually ride the Metrolink train into Union Station and once a week I walk around to see the amazing architecture and close my eyes to hear the sounds around and envision what it would have been like back in the early 40s or 50s. Way cool. Everyone should visit LA Union Station.

For a train station, Ive seen better and worse. Theres plenty of security and the seating/waiting area is cordoned off for ticket holders only. It was about as clean as a building with its age and use, it didnt smell. Smoking corner is way down on the end looking at the entrance. Dont try anywhere else, cops were having none of that. Pickup/dropoff is small and gets congested easily. Getting around the station is easy and well marked. There are a couple cafes/restaurants/news stands to buy food, drinks and snacks for that +30hr train ride up north, but they be taxing.

Its a great place. I needed to buy an Amtrak ticket. When I first got to the ticket window no one was there. A man was standing near who worked there. I patiently waited for him to finish helping someone. I am 100% sure he noticed me but when he finished helping them he then turned and walked away. I followed and when I caught up I asked where I go to purchase a ticket. He pointed at the booth, I went and bought my ticket. The Amtrak agent was very nice. All the Amtrak agents were very nice, over the phone and in person. I enjoyed my travels because Amtrak was great.

I used to commute through LA Union Station. The inside of the train station has been kept very well. Love the architecture of this building. Been to the Disney Concert Hall in the past then stopped by the station in winter, it made you feel like you’re in the movie.

Well this is in Grand Central Station but it is a very beautiful and train station. The architecture is really nice all the different tiles are pretty cool. I would say it is a little confusing inside such as trying to figure out where the exit is. I do wish the United States is a lot better in traveling by train because you really get to see America/ all the beautiful sceneries.

A great architectural building with a unique Los Angeles style. It was built big back in the day that they did that kind of thing. And it’s still dutifully serving it’s purpose today and looks great. I arrived to the union station for a trip to that departed in the late evening, surprisingly there was security and staff everywhere to assist. You can get to pretty much anywhere with the metro system. But where the busses drop you at the station there are many shady people. One was even carrying a knife out in the open. No security at the drop site and no information or maps to direct you through. I had to guess and start walking until I found a security person to tell me where the pickup area was. Which was on the opposite side of the building. Never saw a layout map anywhere, I might have missed them. Overall the building is beautiful but they need better security and information. This was my first time there, I came on the express from LAX and they dropped me off on some upper level full of homeless people and my wife and I had to try to figure out where to go. Some woman asked me where she could get a helicopter sandwich. I definitely didnt feel safe and nobody there was approachable. The rest of the Transit system is great. Cheap and you can get to almost anywhere fast.

This operational train station is beautiful place from the inside and the outside and is famous as the backdrop of some very well know films throughout the years. Beautiful architecture so take the time to have a closer look. Make sure to also visit the restaurant/bar on the side of it as it has the same aged look and feel but also offers a wide selection of nice dishes and some great home made beers. It is possible to even have a look at the brewery itself in the back. Worth a visit.

I dont like that when I talk to the employees of metro ambassadors they tell me that they suffer not being able to relief themselves in a restroom close to them because of events that Union Station set up. But SMH Union Station doesnt take in consideration of human rights as well generosity to allow workers to reach a bathroom in time for an emergency. I see its unpleasant and unprofessional knowing Union Station Metro is ok with having a disorganized policy that affects employees as well citizens from adults to children. I visited this place twice or three times, and my first impression about this station was nice. The station was lively with people and clean. The direction was helpful in finding the correct platform. Transfer between Subway and Amtrak was easy enough for first visitors. Expansive and impressive but not so much since I had just recently been to the Chicago Union Station which is several levels more impressive. Signage is not all that clear. My biggest gripe is the lack of available seating. My wife and I had just finished our trip on the Coast Starlight and had to wait, first for our luggage (30+ minutes) then again for our Uber. The only seats are roped off and are available for ticketed people only. Since we just finished our ride, we werent allowed to sit. My wife was injured and standing was quite painful for her.

I have never missed a train or plane in my life - missed one at this station. Its a total free for all and a lot more chaotic than any other train station Ive encountered before. You definitely want to arrive early, but then you have to wait at the end of the station and its so incredibly loud its hard to hear the announcements. The platform staff is more helpful than the train station staff - they all work for different entities (some for Metrolink, Amtrak, etc). Very chaotic station, so know your train or bus #, track and time before you go. Also the waiting room had a lot of vagrant/fighting type things going on, and the chairs are sticky there. The architecture was ok though and they did ultimately swap my ticket (for extra $$) for my missed train, would definitely recommend boarding in orange county or another smaller surrounding town rather than Union station, but sometimes choices are limited.

I rode Amtrak coast starlight as a first class passenger and the treatment even upon arrival was first class. I was greeted by an Amyrak attendant who didnt know how I was ticketed walking in the door and gave me directions. Beautiful inside and out … but there are literally insane homeless people EVERYWHERE screaming profanities. Scared my kids. If you go here AND you’re going to bring small kids find a way to put some headphones on them.

I happened to see the same guy that recently pulled a knife on me in my apartment building with cameras everywhere and they wont let me in after that because I complained when I was trying to change my life for my daughter. Cuz there were staff there at night being creepy everything was creepy at night it was creepy. I hope that place Burns trip out online online

There are not a lot of employees who know how to help with simple directions. Was transferring trains. Had to hope for the best. It kind of sucked.

Too many homeless people...it seems like homeless people have more rights than the general public... eventually the homeless are going to turn everywhere into a police state... although the LAPD and sheriffs allow them to harass metro riders...no wonder people are leaving Los Angeles and California because once again ot feels like homeless people have more rights than the rest of us 😞

Union Station is a MUST when visiting Los Angeles. It is next to L.A.’s oldest street. (Another review later on) It is of a South Western Art Deco design and it is beautiful. You may get to hear live music on the open forum piano or by chance attend a Donut Festival. The best is getting a coffee and hanging just outside the main area.

Very crowded with homeless people and crazys but security was everywhere loaded us on the train then tell us we have a long delay while they replace an engine and a window and we could not leave the train and the cafe was not open till after we left the station

Always a breeze getting in and out of Union station. It’s located centrally in downtown Los Angeles, from there you can easily catch a direct ride to and from the airport on the Fly-a-way bus for only $9.75

I honestly disliked this place so much because what annoys me is that those Hispanic ladies in yellow who worked at the station are so rude and asking where we are going. Plus, the lady who worked at the FlixBus booth downstairs is also so rude to me and my boyfriend. To be honest, the staff need to do better with their explanation on when the buses will arrive.

Its a beautiful station with british architecture. Its decently connected to the downtown. If you are comming at the night time, u might find homeless people sitting/sleeping in the waiting area, which makes it crowded. Things can get sketchy sometimes at night so try to stay inside the station. You can find police and station staff invigilating the waiting area and verifying tickets of the people occupying seats there, you may approach them in case u need help.

I absolutely love this station. I was visiting it for the Metro Link for work temporarily and I fell in love with it. I miss coming here there is quite a vibe to it I cannot explain.

Took a train to Flagstaff, but when I went to get a seat assignment, was not told bag check was available. When I was getting on the train, I was then told I should have checked my bag. No bag check in is available at the train, only before you board. Otherwise the station was clean, full Starbucks located inside, and the seats inside were only available if you showed your ticket.
