We were blessed to work with Hal Light from Light Realty, Inc. as our real estate broker. As first time home buyers, we needed to work with someone we trust wholeheartedly. To not only help facilitate a deal but to essentially hold our hands through the entire process and Hal did just that. We decided to start looking for a home during a pandemic, but with COVID-19 restrictions, there were no more ‘Open Homes’ to freely walk into. Every house we were remotely interested in required an agent to make an appointment and accompany us through the tour. Hal was on top of it! He got us in to look at homes as soon as possible, working around our schedule, and he took the initiative in calling agents on homes that haven’t even hit the market yet to see if we can get an early viewing. Although Hal was working with multiple clients, we always felt like we had his attention and was his top priority. He always made himself available to answer all of our questions no matter what time of day/night and helped to provide additional information to questions we didn’t even know to ask. His knowledge of the area is truly invaluable and his kind and genuine nature has established amazing relationships amongst other agents. He truly went above and beyond to outline and schedule out the entire home purchasing process that we never felt rushed and it made the experience as stress-free as I imagine it could be. We were able to purchase our first home within three months of working with Hal with ZERO issues. Even after the keys were handed over, Hal continues to check-in to ensure that everything is living up to expectations. This is a man that cares about establishing relationships with his clients and ensuring they are well taken care of from the start to the end; when you’re settled into your new home. Working with Hal has been amazing! My wife and I were referred to him through a close friend. We started chatting with Hal in March of 2021 about potential houses (we closed in Sept 2021) and he was incredibly great at communicating with us as to what we were looking for. Since we were going to use him as our mortgage broker also, he was very clear as to what his process was and what documents he needed from us. With us as first time buyers, he was extremely patient with us. We had so many questions and he took the time to answer all of them.Most agents want you to buy higher to get a bigger commission but they can be really pushy about it. I have never felt that way about Hal. I feel like Hal really looked after us during the whole process and had our best interests at heart. We had a lower budget to work with but Hal worked with that and never pressured us to look outside our comfort zone.He’s also extremely knowledgeable about the East Bay and Tri-valley area (I’m sure he knows hella more areas but we were looking in the East Bay). My wife and I always appreciated his opinions on listings that we saw. Every time we saw something we liked and let him know, he was always incredibly quick to get us disclosures and more details.Hal’s ability to negotiate is amazing. For the house we bought, we ended up getting it under list and I credit that to Hal’s negotiation skill.Id work with him again! Go with Hal!

Hal was awesome! I am a first time home buyer and whether it was walking me through processes to understanding budgeting vs value appropriately to helping me understand what my priorities were in a home, he was there every step of the way. My whole family pretty much uses Light Reality. Also they make the process super easy with real estate services, brokerage services and much more - almost like a one stop shop. Highly recommend using Hal and will definitely come back when its time for my next move!

My husband and I were referred to Hal by a mutual friend, for our 1st time home buying endeavor. Even though we had no idea what we were looking for in a realtor, Hal ended up being exactly who we needed. Hal is personable, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and has an exemplary attention to detail which is critical to the home buying process. He spent a considerable amount of time thoroughly explaining the process at the outset, as well as throughout our home search, as questions came up. He was also great at raising issues and asking questions that wouldnt have crossed our minds, which helped with our decision making process. He also walked us through all documentation (line by line!) we received (which was a ton!), and was patient when answering our questions. It is evident that Hal has a strong desire to help people, and is willing to go above and beyond to make sure his clients receive outstanding service.

Hal is by far one of the most hard working individuals I have met and someone you absolutely want to have as both a realtor and/or mortgage broker.Hal was there in helping both my wife and myself help purchase our first house and has already helped us refinance twice! In fact, he will probably be helping us with another refi soon. This shows the level of attention Hal gives his clients. Its not about just closing the deal but about building a real relationship.Like what many others have already mentioned, Hals attention to detail, experience, professionalism, work ethic and so much more always shine through in all my interactions with him.I wholeheartedly recommend Hal to anyone for his services. Working with Hal has been amazing. We found Hal because of his reviews as a mortgage broker and then decided to use him as a realtor too. Using Hal as a realtor and mortgage broker will reduce the stress of buying a home tremendously. He is very easy to work with, transparent, understanding of your needs and quick to reply. He is not pushy and if he thinks a house is not a good fit for you, he will raise his concerns. Once under contract he will get you locked into a rate and if he sees that rates change he will get you locked into a lower rate.Highly Recommended!

Hal helped my husband and I purchase our first home in May 2019, and we could not be more grateful that we found Hal to help us! Hal helped us with our preapproval, and represented us as our real estate agent. He made the preapproval part very easy, and shared with us spreadsheets that were organized in a way for us to easily understand what our budget was. After our bid was accepted, the 21-day closing process was fast-paced and eye-opening, as Hal walked us through contracts and language that was brand new to me and my husband. Hal is very patient, reliable, communicative, understanding, and knowlegeable. He encouraged us to ask questions, and wanted us to be well aware of every step of the process. Hal made all the paperwork and timeline very easy for us to follow. It was surreal to be handed the keys to our first home, and we are so appreciative that we worked with Hal to guide us through this process. Hal and his team (Chelsea and Tracy, even the Chicago Title Company) were amazing. They were extremely organized, always on time to appointments, responsive (email, texts or phone calls), and prepared for any scenario.I reached out to them a few months before I wanted to sell, and though we ran into a few bumps in the road (HOA-funded construction kept on getting pushed back), they were very flexible with the changing timelines. And by the time everything was ready to go, they got cleaning, staging, and listing all done in a matter of a few weeks. Got an offer within a week, and closed in less than a month. I really could not have asked for a better team to help me through a big life event like selling a home.Hal is very experienced and considers all the different scenarios. This was so helpful when we were facing a very dynamic housing market and changing interest rates. He is also a really nice person and very professional--he wanted to make sure the new buyers had all the information they needed to make a successful transition to their new home (my old home).

We found Hal through a referral from a friend. We already had a few agents in mind but chose Hal because he was the quickest in responding to our questions. As a first time home buyer, I had A LOT of questions and Hal always responded to them quickly and explained things clearly. I never felt like I was just another client and that he was too busy. We have been looking for a new home for quite some time and never saw anything we truly fell in love with. Things changed when we viewed our dream home, but we knew the competition was stiff in this economy since rates are now at all time low. To be honest, we didnt think we would be the new owners. After speaking with Hal, we settled on a bid. His knowledge of the area, prices and expertise helped us lock down on the winning bid. He worked as if he was buying the home for himself. Thats how passionate he was. He even helped us proof read our personal essay to make sure it was perfect. Everything happened so fast and efficiently after that! I honestly cant rave enough about Hal after such a positive experience working with him. As a first time home buyer, my husband and I were overwhelmed by the process, and Hal really took the time to make sure that we were informed and understood what was happening every step of the way. His responsiveness is AMAZING. He was extremely professional but always open to our questions and we were truly able to ask him anything, anytime - even after escrow had already closed. We never had an issue getting a hold of him or getting a response; I was rather impressed that he followed up as promptly as he did every single time. While we were already in escrow, we even ran into a little hiccup with our unresponsive and confusing CPA, but Hal was persistent and helped us get the advice we needed from the right person to ensure we felt confident and comfortable with the transaction. I strongly recommend working with Hal without any hesitation. Buying a home is such a big decision and transition, and you will only be relieved and supported that hes in your corner.

I strongly recommend Hal because of his vast knowledge of the current real estate market and home design trends. Hal provided excellent services including pre-sale home improvement advises, Hal is very detail oriented and resourceful. He provided me the best referrals for contractors,landscape and tree services, stager and amazing photographer. Most importantly, they all are very professional, reliable and fair and reasonable with their fees. I am very happy with each of them as well.During the pre-sale home improvement process, Hal was very helpful and very considerable to make sure all repair or home improvement areas are necessary to add home values and will appeal to buyers. He worked with all the professionals closely to ensure everything was done correctly and on schedule. He was my liason so I was free of all the running around.Hal is also a strategic planner. I cannot say enough good things about Hal and Light Realty. I was recommended to him through a good friend. And this was without a doubt one heck of a referral. I just feel lucky to have had the opportunity to meet Hal. Hal helped me and my wife find a home from March 2018-March 2019. Thats a long time. But Hal was there every step of the way.At first, we didnt know what we were looking for. Hal was patient, asked great questions and got a feel for what we were looking for. We saw a number of homes. Some, we walked in and walked right out. Others, we lingered and debriefed in the backyard. He was thoughtful and thought through things that my wife and I hadnt even thought about. Ive read in several of the reviews that Hal would turn his clients away from putting down an offer. That comes from someone who knows what hes doing and cares about the people he is working with. Hal was always honest with us while at the same time working hard and looking out for our best interests.Eventually, he began to know what we were looking for and started to imagine what it would be and feel like as we visited homes. This is a review that has been a long time coming - Hal helped my wife and I buy a house two years ago back in 2017 - but Im only finally getting to this review now. But I promise, if you read this one, itll be worth the time and effort.Lets rewind back to the spring of 2017. I was transitioning from one job to another, my wife and I decided to move from Redwood City to the East Bay, and we were expecting our first child in August. We were looking at homes in a variety of locales - Castro Valley, Orinda, Lafayette, Piedmont - using Redfin and Zillow as our trusty brochures. Hal was helpful and thoughtful in the way that I expected an experienced real estate agent would be; we had selected him over another less experienced agent that we also liked. He went with us to each home we wanted to visit, helped us think through the pros and cons of each place, listened to what really mattered to us, and gave us useful bits of advice throughout the process. Nothing mind blowing, but as a professional service provider, I really appreciated how ridiculously responsive he was and how much he knew his trade.But wait, it gets better. Remember, the Bay Area housing market is ridiculously crazy and if you want a house, you better come prepared. And there was one moment in particular where Hals expertise was completely game changing. We finally found a home that we just fell in love with, listed below market, where the seller was accepting bids and planned on only taking the top two. Trying to read between the lines, I was thinking that a somewhat generous offer above the list price would be enough to get us into the top two bids, but Hal insisted that a much higher, above market offer would be necessary. And Hals read was on point - if I had gone with my gut, we wouldve been out of the running completely.But even when we got into the final two bids, I was still trying to figure out how to not overbid and save a few thousand here and there, trying to glean every last bit of information about the situation and think through every game theory hypothetical and attempt to predict what the other bidder would do. But in the end, Hal had a number in mind much higher than mine and suggested that if we really wanted to buy this home and make sure it was ours, this was the number to bid. And in the end, that bid barely made it over the other and we were the excited and relieved new home buyers.I look back on this time and think how fortunate we were to have Hal in this critical time and how life could have ended up so differently if we had to purchase another home. If we didnt close right then and there, given that we were moving and I was switching jobs, who knows what we would have had to do instead? Would we have had to temporarily rent and move multiple times? And since we had a baby on the way, that would have meant no time to set up the house before the baby came, no time to set up a nursery, no first memories coming home to our home, the home we now own, with our firstborn. Life wouldve been incredibly different and difficult if we didnt have Hal to advise on this and I honestly dont think anyone else wouldve done as perfect a job as he did. There were something like fifteen other bidders on the home we bidded on, presumably all represented by realtors, but only Hal was able to shepherd us through the entire way to make sure we were the ones who ended up with the home. This is what it means to be a professional - to bring the sum of all your expertise so that in these critical moments, you hit the game winning shot.This is a post long overdue, but its still worth saying now - were super happy that we went with Hal. It was such a pleasure working with Hal! He helped my husband and I find our dream home in the area that weve been eyeing on for a year!The first time we met Hal, we had several homes lined up to see and then he took us out to a local restaurant and gave us a run through of all the paperwork. He explained and answered all our questions with so much patience and he even reminded us when we forgot just so that we fully understood what was happening. He is super thorough and his mind is sharp - he remembered all the homes we liked and didnt like and even the details to why we liked/disliked them. After each home visit, hed ask us what wed rate the home at and then later on would ask us where the certain home would land in comparison to previous ones. This helped us narrow down and be selective with our options.When it came to putting down an offer, Hal provided the experience, home market values, competitive prices within area, neighborhood information, and even inquired about what are some specific things that we didnt want to compromise. Hes also not only high on the IQ range but also the EQ range, which is super important!! Hes able to sense where the sellers agent was at when it came to placing an offer.. and this helped provide additional info for us! Hes wonderful to work with, super prompt with his messages, provided the recommendations and guidance we needed, and knew when to counter and also include details that other agents didnt care about.Hal is super personable and friendly as well!
