I called to see how soon I could get an appointment for a smog inspection, and Larry’s was able to get me in same day! I arrived early to my scheduled appointment; they were ready and had me pull right in to get started. My car was smogged and I was out and onto the rest of my day within 20 minutes. It couldn’t have been easier! Thank you, Don, Sandy, and the Larry’s family, for your prompt, excellent service, and competitive pricing!

Went here after the neighboring Lloyds failed to service my car after a brutal 9 hour wait with no updates. Larry’s was able to schedule an appointment for me the next day, and gave me transparent pricing and solved all my issues within an afternoon. Will be coming here in the future they seem like honest and straightforward people.

Larrys Auto Care in Scott’s Valley is the BEST!Unfortunately, the first two times I came to them in an emergency repair situation. Each time the shop was very busy. They took the time to listen to what I actually had to say & paid attention to what I had to say. That is so rare these days.Even though they were very busy, they managed to work me in. They consistently kept me appraised of the work they’re doing, what it will cost, and when the vehicle will be ready for pick up. they are timely and very responsive.The hourly repair rates are very reasonable, much lower than a lot of other places and especially dealerships.The cost of the replacement parts is reasonable as well.. I have a 23 year-old truck and it’s getting harder to find replacement parts for it. Somehow, Larry’s auto care always has the parts I need and can get them quickly!Each time I went to their shop for repairs to my truck : They quote me the price up front, they dont overcharge me, & they made sure that both my vehicle and myself were well taken care of. I appreciate that.Donald, Sandy, Christie & the mechanics are all top notch.A lot of people & businesses say they go the” extra mile “ for their customers. I put a shout out for a good and trustworthy mechanic on the app. Nextdoor. I got several referrals for Larrys Auto. I took my 2008 Honda Fit in for a new clutch it needed the whole clutch kit. The mechanic laughed and asked me how long it had been that way. Everybody there made me feel comfortable the price felt good to me and it was done in great time. I had my truck in for a wheel alignment today, and the results were evident the minute I pulled out onto the road. No more fighting to keep it in the lane, it goes straight down the road with no drifting left or right. It feels smooth, no vibration. I am so pleased, and can only wonder why I waited so long? I know auto shops in this area real well, most every one. They wont stay in business if they dont do decent work, and ripoffs are always exposed. So what are the defining differences? What makes one shop shine brighter than others?Ownership. Especially accessible, local ownership. Period.Larrys is owned and operated by a family embedded deep in our local culture, with mom, dad, oldest son and cute little dog onsite each and every day. Youll be greeted by service coordinator Christy, who embraces, even elevates the level of Donald and Sandys humble cheer, and youll not smell a whiff of smoke or foul chemicals at all.I would not normally comment on integrity because its just presumed. If they dont have it, theyll advertise that they do, and those you just avoid. But outright honesty at the level on display from Donald is rare and refreshing to feel these days. Thats right, feel. When you see it and hear it, you cant help but feel it cuz its just so charming, so genuinely humble its disarming, and that sets a standard the staff all rise up to.Good job Brenner clan, all of you. You shatter the sketchy industry stereotypes we hear all the time, and it makes us all smile along with you.

Ive used Larrys auto for my familys suv, van and car, 3 of them, my sons and my two. Im very happy with the terrific fast service, mechanics and price of the work done. My son had a starter put in, I had a SUV suspension banging issue and just had a new PCV put in my van. Larrys is top notch in my book and very friendly to their customers. So A+ from me.

Im recommending them to you.5/22:My little brother had a mystery electrical fault in his Prius, which is his source of income.I had to put my Highlander in for maintenance and inspections, prior to an upcoming road trip.Both instances were handled the day after the initial call.Both cars went in at 1:00 (on different days).Both were back in our possession by the end of the day, issues resolved.Some folks you just cant praise enough.Recommended.

My first time back to this business after it reopened. Only have gotten a CA state smog certification so far and havent had any repairs or maintenance yet. I was not pleased with the work of the former owner, who passed away, but everyone says the new ownership is great. Its a local family business run by a highly experienced mechanic along with his wife and a son plus several employees. The shop is cleaner and better organized than before. The shop is busy. Will update this review as I get more experience with the business, but so far its a solid thumbs up.

My 17 year old daughter’s car was having problems. She took it to a mechanic that charged her $250 to tell her it had a cracked cylinder and was unsafe to drive. She called me crying believing her Mazda with 70k miles on it was not fixable. I called Anthony who is Larry’s son and he refused to believe the cylinder was cracked. We brought it to him for a 2nd opinion and he found NO crack in the cylinder. He found a leak that was over the spark plugs causing the car to misfire and idle rough. He literally saved us $20k from buying a new car. We also told Anthony about the broken AC that another shop told us was not worth fixing because it would take a lot of work and they couldn’t guarantee that they could fix. Well Anthony repaired the AC! I was blown away (no pun intended) the AC works just like the car, everything in LIKE NEW condition. I cannot thank Larry’s automotive enough! Anthony is the best mechanic I have ever met. My daughter is moving far away to attend college in a few months and she now has a safe reliable car to drive!

I recently brought my F350 Turbo Diesel to get serviced. Donald (owner/ mechanic) came out and talked with me directly. He is incredibly professional, personable and knowledgable. He takes extra time to communicate with customers and find out exactly what the issues are, shares his insights and makes valuable suggestions. He has high standards for his work and gets the job done right. I observed Donald and the rest of his staff interacting with other customers in much the same way. I heartily endorse this shop and will be taking my truck there from now on.

My daughters and I were driving to Santa Cruz on 17 today when our car suddenly started making some crazy noises. Larrys was the closest mechanic - I called and they said they would look at it. When we got there the person in the office dropped everything he was doing to test drive the car and do a full assessment. After working on it for 45 minutes he was able to see that whatever had been stuck was dislodged and he determined we were safe to drive. He did not charge me anything for his time and effort! It was a great reminder for me and a good example for my kids that there are good people out there! I am so grateful for his kindness and if I lived closer Id become a regular customer. Thank you!

This shop does not seem to understand the cars they smog or the CARB laws for that matter. Was refused for smog under the argument that my vehicle never came from the factory with a turbo, which it did. I showed him the sticker on the hood but that wasnt enough. The tech did not bother to check any references to verify and just plainly refused to test the car any further. Went to another smog shop down the street and the car passed with no issues. They made the comment that my previous smog tech didnt seem to have much of an idea of what hes doing. I agree and Ill be shooting a quick complaint over to BAR.At least he was courteous enough that he allowed me to leave without paying the test fee. One extra star kept because of that.All in all, look elsewhere for your smog needs if your vehicle is uncommon or not one that they deal with on a regular basis.

It was okay. Been there about 4 or 5 times for SMOG. Got the job done but one worker has broken english and the one with glasses had an attitude with a customer. Might have been isolated incident, but he seems like a grump.
