Celebrated my sisters bday at this restaurant and 1st we had to wait about an hr for a table ( 10people, becausethey donttake any reservations) then service was slow! Waitress came to check on us around 4 times during our 2 1/2 hrs we sat there! Food n drinks were good and u only get 2 free baskets of chips and Salsa. After that they charge you. Gratuity is included on parties of 10 or more!!

A nice spot easy access and good drinks. Happy hour was ok. 3 Jack and Cokes and 2 Margaritas was $63. Drinks were strong and the chips and salsa 1aa pretty good. The salsa is a bit thin but has good flavor.

Drinks were delicious, refreshing & must have.There was lots of noise from the busy restaurant full of people, if you want a quiet setting this, this isnt one, but if you want weekend vibes (which I did 🥳), this is the place, it was popping!It was a Friday evening, it was extremely busy, people waiting inside and outside the restaurant, but wait was about 30 mins which was not bad at all.I had steak fajitas along with a Mango Margarita with chamoy ♥️Chips with salsa are complimentary, with refills too!

The staff was very accommodating with our group of 16! We celebrated a milestone 90th birthday and enjoyed visiting with family. The wait staff (I didn’t get their names) were great with getting our meals and drinks in a timely manner. Thank you for a great evening!

I thought that everything was Great at this place. The food is really good and the service is really nice. Our server also made some suggestions which are really awesome. Everything tasted good. The only reason I would give it one less star on the overall review is because it was too expensive for the food. If it was priced a little bit better than this place would be a five star. Just for food I think youre looking at about $20 to $30. I got a more expensive dish which lended me in the $30 to $40 range.

We frequent this place and they are usually on point but last time we ordered the Fajitas with fish, shrimp and octopus and all were over cooked except for the fish. $68 and we shared lol.😂 if you are going to charge some money —you have to be consistently good. I would complained on the website but there is no place to file a complaint—so another huge issue—so now you’re on blast. Great service tho

Not gonna lie, we were impressed! La Costa seemed to have stepped up their game since the last time we went.The chips were warm and lightly salted and the salsa was very good.Highly recommend the Nacho fries w/steak - which can be a meal or easily shared. The Baja fish Tacos were large and delicious! The drizzle of chipotle sauce was a nice mild kick of spice.My husband ordered a steak chimichanga (also) which he ended up bringing the whole thing home for lunch the next day. We will definitely go back. New fave Mexican restaurant!

Food was good, but the service was not what we expected. Our waitress Daniela only came to our table twice for a party of 10 first time to bring the food & second time was to bring the tab. We didn’t get refills the whole time we were there. She was nowhere to be seen & charged the whole tab gratitude. I’m a waitress myself & I would definitely not add gratuity on a table I didn’t check on at all.

We ask for Booth not a table for wife and friend after 15 minutes they sit us down on the table, then the manager came after they have served us or drinks and chips and ask us if we were kind enough to move to a booth because they needed the table so I said okay thats fine. And he said as complementary they were going to give us any dessert we wanted. So I asked for guacamole when the bill came the charges for the guacamole. Dont know if it was a scam or what but you have to be careful with this place. Also your drinks they fill them up with ice so you can keep ordering and they will continue charging for the drinks

Great Mexican restaurant in Bakersfield. The ambiance was nice, cute dia de los muertos style decor. They have a good selection on their happy hour menu. The bartender made very good drinks. The service was good and the food was yummy. Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Truly a disappointing experience. My father and I came for lunch. My dad spoke to the waiter in spanish. She was confused and my dad responded back in English. Thinking she was bilingual. Charged us 16 bucks for a burrito sized of a grocery store Tina burrito. With shallow plates and horrible bean serving size. My lettuce was wilted. Honestly your paying for the atmosphere. The girl with the glasses in the front was rude. Who snapped at us, when we brought the receipt at the cashier. If you want real authentic food. Go to Don Pericos. For 40 bucks, I would have rather went to Apple Bees. The tacos were so sad. It made me sad. Will not be returning unless we go through another pandemic and they are the only thing open and im lazy enough to make food at home.

Service was so-so, food that I actually ordered was good, but they filled about a 1/3 of the plate with some kind of salad/pico/guacamole pile that you didnt order or that I dont believe was even disclosed on the menu. Our party was seated at a table too small for the group to eat comfortably. My party seemed to like it overall, but I dont know if I would choose to go back there.

I love to have lunch at La Costa. I order the Botana. It is seafood severed with taquitos and flautas. It is a big serving and I share with my husband. We request no chile because it is too hot.I was there during happy hour and ordered a shrimp cocktail for $7.It was very tasty with my nice cold beer.

I work for a medical office and the provider bought my lunch, chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans. Yall the food was sooooo good. It felt homemade with a side of hugs from your abuela or your secret crush, whichever floats your boat. The enchiladas were saucy just the way I like them and they were by no means stingy with the meat either. The rice was seasoned well and melted in my mouth. If I didnt have to clock back in from lunch, I would have took the greatest nap ever after eating this amazing food. I will definitely be back here again 💜

My favorite Mexican Restaurant! Had excellent service today and the Ribeye was on point. Must try the Tamarindo Michelada it was paired perfectly with the rib eye with rice and veggies! I forgot our servers name but she was an older white lady who was very nice and had very great customer service! My girlfriend had the Poblanas with a pineapple and rum drink and she loved it. We ended the night with a flan to finish of the dinner and it was amazing! Thank you for the great experience!

I also got the agua chiles which I was not a big fan about, they didnt have anything in them for about 20 dollars I would expect for aqucate and tomatoes but instead only shrimp onions cucumbers and salted crackers on the side which I do not like so I ordered tostadas and got charged extra for even tho I didnt touch the crackers, should have been given an option if I wanted tostadas or crackers.Over all nice place and people was just expecting more from my order. I went with two of my cousins and they loved their food so definitely willing to try it again.

The Mexican style restaurant is not your typical restaurant. Upon walking in there are large Mexican day of the death themed statues that catch your eye the restaurant is well kept with bar to sit and the food was great. I had aguachiles and they were spicy... Better than I had imagined. They were served on a rock bowl, which gave it that extra Mexican touch. Waitress was attentive and curtious. Will definitely visit again soon

The second time I had horrible service in the bar with same staff I observed the bartenders tend to other patrons while I waited over 20 minutes for service as an African American hope the owner review the camera at the bar on 9/7/2022 at 1725 the previous time management address but this time no manager came out as I requested and the bartender follow me to the front for a $12 drink to ask me to pay which I did at the front! I ask where was that attention prior to me trying to leave and explaining the reason he was not providing me service is due to plumbing issues but he went to the other tables 2-3 times. This complaint will go to the BBB.The good thing is I went next door to the Yard House where they had a more diverse staff at And I received excellent service and the Thai Pork chips are awesome!

I love both La Costa locations but the Riverwalk location just seems to always have such a fun atmosphere. The service is usually top notch. I’ve never had bad service. The food is WONDERFUL and the drinks are strong. I highly recommend the Mariscos Al Ajillo.

Their enchiladas, rice, and beans were super salty. They were okay, but it was like someone accidentally poured too much, but it was everything on the plate. Had a delicious dinner. Michelada was the star. Great flavors. I had a two item combo, chicken crispy taco, cheese enchilada, rice and beans. My mom had the fried mojarra with all rice. The fish was extra crispy and my mom said she would order it again. Dinner was a success. Great spot to eat delicious Mexican food. There may be a wait, but the hostess do a good job of moving it along. The wait will be worth it!

I was there yesterday, seating and service was fast, the server were nice and paid attention. The food was disappointing, the shrimp burrito was stuffed but complete tasteless, the salsa was watery and tasteless as well. The Fajita was OK but we missed the typical ingredients. For the price which is kind of high compared to the other places in town we expected much more. Overall I say this place is below average but in a nice wrapper.

Made plans to meet my sister in law whom I hadnt seen or talked to in years. Arrived around 1ish for a late lunch, I was getting ready to order a combo with crunchy shredded beef taco and a chile relleno until the albondiga soup caught my eye! We sat and talked for several hours, just enjoying the atmosphere, didnt think we were doing anything bad, we both ordered food so it wasnt like we werent paying customers. But I guess Enrique (I believe was him name) manager or hostess, or whatever he was, walks up to our table, and just abruptly reached over our table and grabs our cups, so I mention to him that we were enjoying the atmosphere and catching up, he says oh thats nice (very sarcastic), I have people waiting for tables and walks away!! Very short and rude! Could have simply asked us to move over to the bar area or even tell us politely, that he was really needing the space. I guess youre only allowed to eat, pay, and then get a move on! Not a place to socialize!!If our company isnt good enough then I guess neither is our money! Ive always liked this place and they really do have great food but me personally, will not be going back. This is my opinion and personal choice, so please be your own judge. I just think there was no need for him to be so rude!!

The seafood is usually great. This 1 time not as tasty as usual. This is the 3rd time Ive been there. Service is usually great but our waitress had a chip on her shoulder and not very friendlyMy husband said maybe shes having a bad day. She came to check on us once and it was after I asked a random waiter for our check and a box to go. It was past the lunch rush so it was not very busy. I ordered the Mango Chamoy Margarita and it was delicious. I asked for an extra shot of tequila but it was so sweet that I didnt taste it which is good. It was my daughters birthday so me and her daughter and her grandchildren took her to lunch. Foods always been great. This day it was the worst service Ive ever had. Food was cold although I was the only one that sent my plate back but by the time I got it back everyone else was done so I boxed it up and took it home I requested a birthday ice cream for my daughter and she never got it. I was very very disappointed in the whole experience. I still left the guy a 20% tip

I ordered a tostada grande, which was made up almost entirely of big chicken chunks, which were unseasoned. I had to throw some of the salsa (which was very good) in to give it a little flavor. A companion ordered nachos and the beef was so gross she couldnt eat them and they took it off of her bill. Another companion had one beef taco, which was gross, and a shredded chicken taco, which was ok. My daughter ordered taquitos but received flautas, which she went ahead and ate. They were ok. The fries were stale. I dont know if maybe we should all have ordered seafood and maybe that would have tasted better, but this was just some of the worst Mexican food Id ever had. And expensive on top of it. The server was excellent, though. It is a fun, festive atmosphere, but extremely loud, so dont expect to be able to hear anything your eating companions are saying.

Shortly after arriving at the restaurant, I went to the mens restroom and heard someone using a stall in mens restroom. After hearing the flushing of the toilet, not urinal, I witnessed the EMPLOYEE, a SERVER, exit the stall, adjust his apron, and NOT WASH HIS HANDS and go to work serving food! DISGUSTING! I informed the manager, who did not seem to be very concerned about what happened, then confronted the employee. (At first, I mistakenly identified the wrong employee but apologized to that employee.) Then, I saw the employee in question. The employee denied that he used the restroom except to only adjust his apron. NOT TRUE. Just beware that this server may be assisting in preparing and serving you and your family your food! We will not be returning to La Costa Mariscos, especially since the manager seemed to be not concerned at all. Kern County Health department will be notified.

I had dinner with my two kids. My four year old ate all of her rice and beans, which is a compliment to the chef. My son enjoyed his nachos. I ordered the shrimp cocktail. I am very picky when it comes to shrimp cocktails and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server did an excellent job, I am kicking myself for not getting his name. The only reason I didnt give five stars is because the kitchen pushed back our ticket and delayed our meal. Our server caught the mistake before I noticed the delay. II sent a drink back that I originally asked to be slightly modified (strawberry margarita) because it had too much sweet and sour. The first time I asked for the mod, they did a good job. I took my family for a what was supposed to be a nice dinner and it turned out to be a total disaster. The weather was 110 and I had my elderly mother and my 4 year old child and my elderly mother needed a glass of water (remember she had already been waiting 50+ minutes in 110 heat and she went in to ask for water and the same manager (Enrique) told her very rudely to get out of his way and go wait outside until her name was called. I am shocked at the lack of respect toward a senior citizen! (he didnt even offer to try to accommodate her inside while we were called) As we were about to leave this same manager (Enrique) said he finally had a table for us and when he showed us to our table he didnt even hand us the menus he tossed them in the table, and walked off treating us like dogs. Who does this in a family restaurant? Seriously a manager acts like this toward, women, children and senior citizens? The waiter who greeted us (Carlos) was more than amazing making up for the lack of respect of the manager. You would think that a family restaurant would make better choices with their manager choices. The managers are that face of the business and the first face customer see and meet and should respect the customers and the elderly. Only 2 positives were Carlos who was great and had a nice friendly smile and was more than accommodating and WILL the bartender that also had a friendly face and smile. They both should be looked at for manager choices, we as customers want to be treated with respect. Carlos and Will had more qualities and respect than the manager.

As Im writing this, La Costa has been open for about six weeks. Like every new restaurant in Bakersfield, this place is extremely busy. There is a wait for a table and the bar is very busy. We were able to get a seat at the bar and had drinks on a Friday night during dinner time. Every seat was taken and people were waiting a long time for service. Once we had service, we ordered two drinks each. My cousins ceviche came without tostadas and when we asked for them it took a few more minutes. My aunt had asked for silverware and I had to eventually grabbed a set off another table. Shrimp cocktail was good! I know their Vallarta is good (from the icehouse) but my order from the new place never came so I was a little (a lot) disappointed. I would say they need to hire more help. I’m sure we’ll be back but maybe after they’ve worked out the kinks.2 because the food is good but sevice was very bad today.

Went the first week they opened, obviously busy and no reservations. Decor looks great. Chilaquiles were good but super spicy. Had to pay 2 dollars extra for a small, ketchup size, sour cream to decrease the spicyness!

Decent Mexican food. You wont be upset when leaving but at the same time you also wont be blown away. This place is way over priced. We had lunch with two meals and some guacamole, and the check was $56. No alcohol, just an ice water and some iced tea. Service was good, food was fairly bland. When I say bland, Im mot referring to the spicyness, Im referring to the overall flavor. Again, its not bad, but its not all that good either. I know they have moved to a high rent location, but avaerage quality plus gouging prices will kill this place after the newness wears off.

Dined here numerous times leaving 25-30% tips. Unfortunately today we had to say farewell forever. Ordered a mariscos plate and it was in a bowl on a plate of beans, we didn’t eat the beans until we finished and removed the bowl and then we found a hair on our plate. I should add this wasn’t an ordinary hair it was as if it was a pubic hair of some sort.. we politely followed up with this information to our waitress discussing our find..The waitress came back only to tell us we were comped 25% of the bill which obviously had no indication of a 25% comp. We paid our bill and felt as if we were not being taken seriously....On our way out I happen to ask for the manager and asked if we could be reimbursed for our meal our and he said no...he said we couldn’t be taken seriously because we ate our bowl of mariscos and it wasn’t noticed until we moved the bowl off our plate..This is obviously not professional on his part he didn’t care and doesn’t respect customers complaints. It was because of the whole situation and what this so called manager told us with his refusal of reimbursement and his way of his unprofessional attitude that we decided to say we will never come back....

WARNING: Today was the first time I tried la costa . I’ll list the pros and cons . Starting with the pros. We ordered and our food was sent out right away, I was shocked at how fast it was. Rice and beans were really good and so was the rest of my food. GOOD FOOD. Cons. I ate out in the patio and I saw more than three HUGE SPIDERS & there were SPIDERWEBS EVERYWHERE. There were spider webs right over the tables and near the tables. One of the spiders kept dropping down to one of the tables and I have a recorded video of it all. I was paranoid while eating dinner. These were not daddy long legs. The smallest ones I seen were probably the size of a dime, but the biggest one was about the size of a quarter. All of the spiders were very noticeable. From being so focused and paranoid by the spiders around me, i couldn’t enjoy my dinner & my date.

Food here is on point. Seafood dishes are delicious as well as the traditional mexican food. Portions are right sized and the service is great. We had flautas, Chimichanga, tacos and enchiladas at the table. All were completely gone by the end of dinner. My measuring stick is the refried beans at a Mexican restaurant. Needless to say I will be back when we are in town!
