We were a little uneasy having to pick a new dentist after being with our previous dentist for over 30 years. We unfortunately tried another dentist before this one and had a bad experience but am so happy to find this dentist! They’re the best. If you have sensitive teeth, they go above and beyond to ensure your comfort during cleanings. The staff are all super kind, and make the experience enjoyable. I’ve never really liked going to the dentist until now. Thank you all so much, we’re stoked we found our new, permanent dentist :)

I am always pleased with having my dental work done at La Costa group by Espire. The staff is friendly. Each hygienist I have had is excellent. The Dr always reviews my x-rays. I have not had a better experience with a dentist’s office! I have had a lot of work done in my mouth, crowns, root canals, etc. Dr. Anisso came to the rescue and expertly diagnosed and fixed my molars and adjusted my bite where it needed to be. He is so patient, kind and really understands the stress of new teeth placement and jaw adjustment. He won’t stop until it’s just right and tailors everything to the patients needs. Faith and Violet are true technical professionals and have worked so hard on my mouth and always put me at ease. I highly recommend them!!

Dishonest front staff- I called them with my new insurance card and they assured me they take it (usually I am told the office doesn’t take insurance if they are out of network). During my first visit they again confirmed they take my insurance. Later after getting a big bill i got to know they are out of network!Dr. Anisso seemed very caring and professional during the procedure. He did a couple of filling and did not smooth out the teeth. He said it will smooth out on its own on brushing. After a week or so when teeth was still rough and causing discomfort so I called front desk and asked if I should come in to get it smoothness. They said they will call me back but I never got a call back.Overall, I am very disappointed with this experience. I feel misled and uncared for as a patient after they got their payment.

I feel so lucky to have found this dentist office. Every single person from the admin to the dental hygienists to Dr. Anisso is so incredibly friendly and kind. Ive been seeing Danielle for years but this time I got Alex and she was equally as wonderful. They take the time to get to know you and I feel like they really care about me which is rare to find in doctor offices nowadays.As far as the dental work goes, I had a chipped tooth and Dr. Anisso fixed it right up. It looks flawless. Highly recommend. I wish all doctor offices were like this!

He also doesn’t push procedures, but gives the facts and let’s you make the decision. Im a new patient. My first visit was excellent. Dr. Anisso was friendly and thorough and willing to answer questions. As a first time patient I had a complete set of X-rays and my teeth cleaned. Both Violet I remember her name because she wore a violet mask), the X-Ray technician and the oral hygienist (Im sorry, I cant remember your name) were both great. Im 80 and been around the block a few times and know a great organization when I find it. This will be my new home for all my dental work going forward.

Yesterday I went to La Costa Dental for the first time. Let me tell you it was the best experience I have ever had. From check in until I was done with my teeth cleaning. I broke a porcelain composite while on vacation. Researched online and found the nearest cosmetic dentist in the area. Called and was squeezed into an appointment the following day. The staff was friendly and professional and the dentist -- he was outstanding. This man knew his stuff. He was able to repair the porcelain composite and matched the color perfectly -- I could not tell the difference -- within 40 mins. I was like WOW! I am impressed. For years I was a patient of Dr. Montague at La Costa Dental and could not have been happier with my experience. Eight years ago I retired to the shores of Lake Coeur d Alene in the state of Idaho. Recently, on a return visit to North County, I accidentally broke a temporary crown installed by my dentist in Coeur d Alene. I needed help in a hurry and contacted my old friend, the now-retired Dr. Montague, and he suggested that I get in touch with Dr. Anisso who had assumed his old practice. What great advice that was! Dr. Anisso gladly squeezed me in for a replacement crown and all is well once again. He is a terrific dentist and a very nice guy. It was wonderful to see that La Costa Dental is in excellent hands and that, in addition to Dr. Anisso, the staff remains top-notch. You wont find a better dental practice ANYWHERE. Although I didnt have an appointment, and was prepared to wait for a long time, I was seen really quickly, my crown was able to be re-glued in, and I continued on with my busy day. The staff does an excellent job scheduling my office visits and getting me in and out in a timely manner. My hygienist, Heather, is the best. Thorough, pain-free and very pleasant.Over the years Dr Anisso has replaced fillings, fixed a veneer and applied a crown. All of these procedures went well and are standing the test of time. Dr Anissos friendly, caring demeanor and general approach to dentistry makes office visits a positive experience. Dr Anisso has a very cautious approach to recommending procedures. This is in contrast to the dentist I left before coming to La Cost Dental. That dentist seemed to go out of their way to find procedures to perform.When Dr Anisso does recommend a procedure, Im confident the work is needed and Ill receive the best care possible. Dr. Anisso and his staff were all friendly, professional, and informative. A procedure to make a Porcelain inlay was done, quickly and painlessly. Generally good experience. Milad is a wonderful hygienist. The one thing that bothers me is the failure of all personnel and patients to wear masks. this is basically a medical establishment without great ventilation at a time when Covid is increasing again. It seems to me that a prudent move would be to require masks again for all staff and for all patients. Some or many of your patients are older and/or immuno suppressed and therefore particularly concerned about this issue.

My wife and I have been going to La Costa Dental since we moved down here in 1995. My dentists have include Drs.Torrgusson (sp? now retired), Montague and Anisso. Their practice focuses on preventative dentistry, as witnessed by their insistence on twice-a-year cleanings and a package of dental products (toothbrush, floss and toothpaste) provided after each visit.Two things have impressed me with this practice.1. When I first moved here, Dr. Torrgusson said after my first visit....your dentist in LA did excellent work on you crowns. Wow!!! He didnt need to say that. I knew my dentist in LA was excellent, but to hear it from another practitioner told me of his standards.2. On several occasions, crowns or fillings have come out....at the most inopportune times. One occasion was on a Friday night during an Indian Guides campout in the middle of nowhere. LCD got me in the first thing Monday morning. But even way more impressive and deeply appreciated was when a crown came out on Christmas Eve last year. I called LCD and the answering service said they were closed for the holidays until the 26th. The asked, was this an emergency? Knowing we were going out of town on the 26th, and knowing I had a big hole in my tooth, and knowing Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were filled with food and drink and more food....I paused for 3 seconds....and said yes, it was an emergency. Within a half hour, the dentist on call, Dr. Montague, called me back and asked if I could meet him at the office in 1/2 hour. Of course I could. I could be there in 10 minutes if I needed to. I showed up and Dr. Montague opened the office, turned on the equipment and immediately reglued the crown. He said he was just going out for last minute Christmas shopping and he thanked me for coming in so soon. He thanked me!!!!. Are you kidding? Hes off for the holidays with his family, comes into the office to solve my crisis, and then thanks me.If these two stories do not tell you about the quality, service and professionalism of the La Costa Dental Group, then nothing will please you.For me, I might be calling Dr. Montague on Christmas Eve this year, to bring him a belated thank you gift for what he did for me. But dont worry. It wont be that Peanut Brittle that caused my crown to become detached last Christmas Eve.Thank you La Costa Dental Group for keeping the smile glowing.

Dentists usually do good work but the office staff continually and falsely tells their patients insurance will not cover performed dental work. They try to force patients to pay a bill before leaving even though they have 100% insurance coverage for the days procedure. NOT NICE! This has been an unfortunate practice for years. I should begin this by stating this dental group engages in shady business practices and will physically threaten you if you call them out on it. Im not just saying this because I am upset with them, but as you will see, I am attaching pictures of documents to this review that clearly show that this is true. To preface, I see a lot of old people in this office when Im there and its in a wealthy area, and I believe that they are exploiting this to make an extra buck here and there.The first indicator that these guys didnt really play by rules was when I got my first insurance EOB back. Before settling on La Costa Dental Group, I had called several places and asked if they were in network or not. The very friendly secretary assured me that they were and she also confirmed the same on my first appointment. Lo and behold, they arent in network and the first $1200 procedure they sold me ended up costing me $200 because the out of network coverage was only $1,000. I let this slide because everyone is just so friendly - big mistake.My only procedure was a root canal and crown. In total, this would end up costing me more than $4,500.00. Which is exorbitant for a crown, even compared to other dentists in Encinitas. This is because the dentist I had (whom will remain nameless) said he was going to go in and prep my tooth for the root canal guy. He said because of the damage, he was going to need to perform a pulpectomy. He actually told me the endodontist usually performs but he was going to do it. The bill for a pulpectomy? $1200 something dollars. Then I get my root canal for $1400 and talk to endodontist. I ask, How much did I save by having the dentist do pulpectomy? He answers Nothing. It has to be done on the way to the root so its part of the root canal procedure.So I basically had a procedure that cost $1200 just for the dentist to make a buck. They lied about insurance to get me in there, and even DOUBLE billed my insurance (we can see it) for the same procedure. Then I go to get my crown and of course, nothing left on insurance.Needless to say my wife is furious. I paid half the crown prior to pickup but instead of picking it and having it put in, we just refuse to pay the remainder and refuse to pickup the crown. Thats when I get this letter. Its from La Costa Dental Group, from a person with no last name using the alias Gretchen and the letter ends with Please pay your balance now so that we can avoid any further action--which will be unpleasant for both of us.Now Im not sure if they mean legal, or are actually make a physical threat, but I have a wife and newborn at home and we are worried they may try something unpleasent to encourage me to pick up the crown and pay the remaining funds.If you look at their reviews, about half of them are fake, or paid for. They are accounts with just a few random reviews or literally only La Costa Dental Group review and no profile picture or goo=ogle activity. They are just fake accounts used by whatever social media / ad agency they use. I bet the legitimate 5 star reviews are employees or friends. Youll see the sporadic review talking about outrageous bills and lying about insurance coverage drizzled in and these are real reviews. There are so many dentists in the area, there is literally no reason for anyone to use La Costa Dental over the others.
