We did the Kunde Mountain Top Tour & Tasting in mid October. It also included walking through their very impressive wine caves to riding in a very comfortable van to the top of the mountain. At the top, we were surprised to find out the opening scene of Bottle Shock was filmed there. The views are spectacular and the wine tasting takes place at the highest point overlooking the expansive vineyards. Just breathtaking! The wines were awesome. It was difficult to decide which ones to take home! We hesitated doing this tour due to price but in the end it was one of our favorite spots in Sonoma and worth every penny!

We had heard great things about Kunde but were worried about not having a reservation on a Friday afternoon. We showed up as a group of 4 around 230pm and they happily sat us on their gorgeous outdoor patio. Our server curated a great tasting for us with cheese boards and we ended up deciding to become wine club members! It was a great experience, can’t wait to come back someday and get our wine in the mail soon!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 30th birthday and treated ourselves with the Mountaintop Tour & Tasting. Being Italian and a bit wine connoisseurs set the bar pretty high, we picked Kunde among many wineries because their wine options seemed to get perfectly along with our taste and we are so happy that the tour and tasting far exceeded our expectations! Charlie was our guide for the day and he was amazing :) we got lucky to be the only ones in the tour so it became a private tour and this made the experience really special. The Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were anything we’ve ever tried before, especially in the US, incredibly balanced and smooth, and definitely a surprise (especially because we are more red drinkers). The red ones were amazing and with a unique taste as well. We found the maximum expression of terroir in each of the wines tried and for this reason we recommend booking a tasting at Kunde. Last but not least, if you’re a sweet wine lover as I am, you cannot miss the chance to try their late harvest wine, Sweet Leslie, so good and flavorful that brought tiers to my eyes. The tour of the vineyards + cave together with the food and wine pairing was worth every cent, thank you Kunde family & team for the great memories. Looking forward to come back soon!!!

Had the most amazing wine tasting ever! Sally was an amazing hostesses, took us to the top of the mountain, had some of the best wines weve ever had in California in the BEST location!! More of a commercial feel, but very nice. Great atmosphere for just hanging out and sampling some wines. Corn hole and other games on the patio. Really cool tunnels heading into the hillside where the wine is stored below the vines above. We liked the 2019 Pinot the best.

Incredible wines, and friendly staff. The tasting was accompanied by a delicious cheese plate and a beautiful view of the Mayacamas and the Foothills.Their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Old Vine Zin are muy fuego.Insanely well priced wines and the club looks inviting!

This is one of the larger and breathtaking wineries in Sonoma County. This winery has been here a LONG time. The whole place (indoors, the outdoor gardens, the wine caves) are all super impressive and breathtaking! Their wine too is very high quality! Ive been visiting this winery for more than two decades now!

We spent a week vacationing in Sonoma and Kunde was the last winery we visited before traveling back home. The saying “save the best for last” applies here. Our tasting representative was Paul B. and it is clear he takes great pride in his work. Paul gave us a thorough explanation of each wine, details on the history of the family winery, and made sure our visit was special. We loved Kunde so much that we joined the wine club and bought some additional bottles to give as gifts. Paul was even gracious enough to give us a family cookbook as a thank you for joining the wine club. I can’t praise this winery enough. We will be sure to visit Kunde when we return to Sonoma.

The best winery we have tried in Sonoma county by far. This is family owned 6 generation winery. We mixed up days of reservation and showed up on Thursday vs. Friday. They were so nice about it and said since we were already there, they would accommodate us. Paul made our whole tasting experience amazing. They really make you feel as a part of family. The wine was absolutely delicious; we even signed up for a membership at the end, even though we are living in Florida. Looking forward to our first box💕

Very beautiful place. The wine tasting was really good and came with a fantastic cheese plate. Paul our server was wonderful letting us try a couple of wines that were not on the tasting menu and bringing us more cold water when he thought the other bottle was warm even getting water for our dog. It was an extremely hot day so it was appreciated.

I have nothing but incredible things to say about this winery, from the wine, to the tasting options, to their flexibility, and to the grounds/ambience. Everything was a 10/10, and our wine server was so funny and engaging. I was here for a 30th birthday and he snuck us extra dark chocolates. I went to another winery before this one and it wasnt even a comparison (they were pretty curt), if you can go to any winery in the area, i highly highly recommend Kunde.Cant wait to come back.

My family and I became members today after an amazing first experience and tasting with Sonaya. I was the designated driver so I actually didn’t taste the wine, but everybody thoroughly enjoyed the wine, the ambiance, and most importantly the attentive and kind reception we received by everybody we spoke to. The lady welcoming folks with reservations in the K room was very friendly and helpful. Sonaya also did a wonderful job, providing us with the perfect, personalized wine tasting experience for those that were drinking. She also explained the benefits of membership and we decided that we want to make Kunde a part of our experience living in the Bay Area. We took home twelve wonderful bottles mixed between Rose, Syrah, and Meritage. We really look forward to experiencing our membership here and will update this post as we experience more.

Splendid views! Good wines and service. I did Mountain Top Tasting. A bus carries us to the mountain top and other spots. The driver/tour guide carries some wines, and each participant carries a wine glass. We tasted wines at each stop. There was no food/cheese pairing, no written information. The guide was friendly but didnt talk much about the wines: its history, texture, tasts, etc. Not very attentive to my questions. I tried to schedule a private tour before going there, but not successful; should have done it earlier. Overall its a good experience.

Sally B. was amazing!! Make sure you ask for her for the wine tasting. Such a love so kind and great recommendations. I am now apart of the wine club because of her. Definitely get the cheese plate with the wine tasting, the pairing is a must have. Sally will recommended which cheese to have with what and make sure you pay attention because the pairs are devine. Thank you Sally so much for taking care of my family and myself and making this experience well worth the ride. We will definitely be back again. The vineyard is from 1904 people make sure to visit this extraordinary vineyard. Very clean very accommodating. The wines are delicious. Red dirt red is a must and the magnolia Sauvignon blanc is delicious! The last wine that we had which was the Cabernet Sauvignon with the chocolate whoa !!! That’s all i have to say. Kunde Family Winery has an incredible selection of wines. It was a pretty good surprise that they have an incredible Malbec for about $32, and a better Merlot for about $23. If you don’t have time for a tasting or arrive too late for it you just can buy a bottle of one of its delicious wine and enjoy it in the beautiful patio with the incredible view of this amazing vines. If you arrive on time you can make a tour inside of the cavas that are located under the hill. Amazing!

Fantastic winery! We didn’t have reservations and Kunde was one of the few in Sonoma that takes walk-ins, so we stopped in and are very glad we did. We had a fantastic tasting with Jordan Kunde, who was extremely knowledgeable and made sure we enjoyed our visit. We learned that parts of the movie Bottle Shock were filmed at Kunde. The Zinfandel was our favorite, but we also loved the Red Dirt Red since Sangiovese is one of our favorites.

Came here on a whim and so glad we made it. We really enjoyed our wine tasting, and left buying a case of Chardonnay and a bottle of 2015 Syrah. They ship to New Jersey!What really made our experience absolutely wonderful and memorable was Kat (with the dog =P). She was so knowledgeable of all the wines, and gave us a lot of good history and stories thruout our time there. Our visit would not have been the same without her hospitality.Do yourself a favor and visit this winery!! And Look for Kat!!

Ive been to Kunde in the summer before and it was great. It was before we were members, so we tasted on the patio which was fine. This time we reserved a tasting in the kinneybrook room which is not a room, its a plastic tent on the patio. They had a heater blowing hot air in, but it was really drafty and the cold kind of took away from the experience. We basically tasted everything they had available in bottles for member shipments which was awesome and the cheese plate was delish. Beautiful setting, but best enjoyed when its warm.

Despite being promised a cheese pairing with the tasting during the initial phone call, it was later denied as part of the tasting upon our arrival due to the fact that three of the four tasters were industry professionals. While we fell in love with this wine years ago I can’t say the same for customer service. Email was received stating guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas if order placed by 12/13 … which it was; however, FedEx tracking said December 26th once order was express. I was told shipping fees would be reimbursed IF shipment was not received before Christmas. Credit was denied for the shipping cost because there’s “a chance” the wine might arrive sooner despite FedEx tracking. The membership manager expected me to wait around for “THE CHANCE “ the wine might arrive before Christmas which is absurd given planning for family and friends. Had I waited for “the chance “ it would have cost me more money to go out and purchase wine for the holiday.Rather than credit delivery charges in order to maintain customer relations, she HAPPILY cancelled the entire order per my request … shame on poor management decisions and cavalier attitudes … I can’t express how disappointing it is for a wonderful company to be represented in that fashion!!

Old winery with excellent wines and tasting experiences. More unpretentious than most, with possibly of walk-ins, the tasting rooms, the store and the guided tasting experiences are all worthwhile. There is a great wine club as well. The caves are quite impressive and highly recommended. Ascending to the Mountain Top is quite the experience. Every time, the guides are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely one of our favorite winery all around.

Ok…mixed review here.When we initially checked in, the person who checked us in was extremely rude, unaccommodating, and unkind. Terrible customer service. I had been told the wrong time for the tour (and even showed the follow up email I sent asking for email confirmation!).Fortunately, another wonderful and kind and accommodating vineyard (Ledson—awesome!!) helped us swap our schedule and we were able to make our later time.Once on the tour, we had a great time with Charlie. He was a great tour guide and we enjoyed our mountain top tour.Would not come back because of the poor initial service (even an “I’m sorry” or an attempt to offer another option would have been appreciated! I know things happen. I’m not upset about the unknown changes, just bummed we were treated so poorly.) But enjoyed the tour overall.

From bold cabs to a smooth and friendly Zin to an exceptional Italian varietal, this winery hits the spot. Some of their vielles vines go back to the 19th century and they have even preserved some bootlegger vines.Beautiful and gracious setting. They make it an occasion and a fun one.When you go, make sure to ask for Noah. He provides a story with each glass, is informed and humorous and adjusts his wine delivery to your tastes. So nice, we went twice! Mara made our wine tasting experience absolutely top notch. She explained the wines, gave us great recommendations for other places and restaurants to explore while in the valley on vacation. The wines are reasonably priced, the tasting was as well, but, everyone was so friendly, and gave us an exceptional experience. After this visit, 2 days later, we returned for the Mountain Top tour. 100% recommend this too-so gorgeous, not rushed, wines that are not on the regular menu, and views to die for. Sean gave us plenty of time to soak in the views, enjoy our delicious tastings, and grab vineyard pictures and memories. Do not pass by this place.

Good experience with the wines and service here. We got quite a few tastings for the $20 per person cost. We tasted 7-8 wines, allowing us to get the full breadth of their selection. That said, we weren’t particularly blown away by any wines in particular and walked away feeling like it was more about quantity than quality.Still, a beautiful space and a lovely place for a small or large get together.

Amazing hospitality!! as being a member of the industry I really value those that really flex to every situation. Colleen here at Kunde winery was amazing, it was raining she brought a barrel table in under covered patio bar tasting and poured us sparkling and we got a bottle of Sauv Blanc and she brought us out a charcuterie board just the thoughtfulness and curiosity was just above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Friendly and personal service though be prepared for the stories to get very personal. The bouquet of the wines are exceptional and my favourites are the reserve Chardonnay and 2nd level CabSav. Sad downside here is the elitism. We arrived at open to an empty venue and were sat in the back in the shade away from the nice areas. When we asked to sit in a beautiful sunny spot they twice said no were reserved. But after 90 minutes the place was still barely 1/4 full and plenty of nice tables were empty. They just didnt want us to have a nice spot maybe because were not local or maybe what we look like.

The mountain tour was fantastic and worth every penny. Our guide Paul really made the experience better than expected. He has been with the winery well over a decade and knows his stuff! The grounds are gorgeous;particularly attractive is the hill with transverse vine rows and cave doors below.We walked in with no prior knowledge or expectation. The tasting room is first class without being pretentious. We were fortunate it was not crowded and walked right up to a tasting station where we spent a wonderful hour. Mark, our Kunde host, is amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable, he expertly guided us through 2 different flights. He was patient and engaging. We enjoyed the wines and the education! The longtime family ownership, vertical integration of the vineyard and production is special and helps Kunde keep their prices lower. The combination of quality facility, personal staff, and excellent wine impressed us and led to our first time ordering and becoming members of a winery club! Julie and Vanessa were amazing! They were kind, knowledgeable and incredibly personable. They made the experience at Kunde special. I toured over 60 wineries while visiting Napa and these two stood out above all others. The wines were great, the grounds and atmosphere were beautiful but the hosts were what set the experience apart. I watched as they took the time to make sure a wedding party of 20 sitting near me had a perfect memory. From making sure the pictures were perfect, that each person was included and visible clearly to explaining the wines in a way that created an experience that each would remember, Julie and Vanessa were magic. I never write reviews but once in a while, two people deserve to be recognized for creating an exceptional memory for all who are fortunate enough to visit Kunde. Well done!

All the wines are fantastic and they are generous. The mountain top tasting experience is worth the extra cost. So beautiful and you learn a ton about the property and all the grapes grown on site. Kunde has been one of my Uncle and Aunts favorite wineries, they are wine club members here, so we had to check it out while visiting Santa Rosa! We had a wonderful experience and were blown away by the stunning estate. The wine selection for the wine tasting was great and everything was wonderful. We also enjoyed a cheese platter while tasting and would highly recommend ordering one to go with the tasting. We ended up buying three bottles of wine and a dessert cuvée, and can’t wait to share them with our family. I highly recommend visiting Kunde, the staff are incredibly kind and really take care of you.

The tastings here are top notch. We had a reservation for the mountain-top tasting option, but it wound up raining all day. Kunde called us to inform that they had cancelled the mountain-top event and instead put together a cellar tour and tasting in the old wine caves. We were greeted at the door with rose before heading down under the mountain. The cave system is incredibly beautiful and smells fantastic! We saw the winery club tasting room in the back of the caves and were stunned when asked to sit down. We did a 6 wine tasting and food pairing class led by the incredibly enthusiastic and hilarious Dwight. He did a wonderful job of explaining not just what went well together and what we tasted, but also why, and how we can use that to pair other things. We also tried a few wines straight from the barrel and talked about the science of the aging process, which was fascinating and delicious. It was our first time visiting Kunde and we had a wonderful experience.Definitely recommend reservations on the weekends, we saw two parties get turned away. What a great place! We were spending our last full day in CA trying to decide on which winery to visit and by the time we decided on Kunde there were no reservations available, but decided to visit the tasting room anyway.Very glad we did. Holly welcomed us and offered wine by the glass. then proceeded to allow us to taste a variety of wines including pinot noir, zinfandel and cab - along with the very interesting background for each. Holly was a great host! I’ve been a wine club member for the last 5 1/2 years. Their wines are very good, but I live in the Midwest and rely on communication for specials or any issues that come up. In the last 4-6 months, I have stopped getting replies to my emails; when I was sent an email prompting me to sign up to receive text messages for specials and other winery communications, but then my wife received an email on a Cabernet sale, I didn’t receive that same email, nor did I receive a text on the sale. Why did I get prompted to sign up when I wasn’t sent any communication on this?As a wine club member, I usually buy more than the required case when it’s time to select my wines every 6 months, however, there are a LOT of other quality wineries I know would like and appreciate my business. We visited Kunde as we toured their vineyards as part of a horseback ride from Triple Creek Outfitters which I highly recommend. We were given tickets for a complimentary tasting at Kunde as part of it. Their grounds are beautiful. I cant speak for the hilltop tasting and the caves, as these were extra and only at certain times. The tasting itself was good, though it didnt really stand out. We had a server change halfway through and while the first was quite good and attentive and was able to tell us a good amount about each wine, the second largely ignored us and didnt tell us anything about the wine beyond the name. We were also quite interested in seeing their dogs but were just told they were out somewhere on the vineyard. The whole winery also had a large corporate feel different from the smaller wineries we has visited which really took away from the personal feeling I was getting used to in the region. As part of our horse ride, I enjoyed the winery, but I do not feel it would be worth going too far out of the way for.

Good wine, mediocre experience. We visited 4 different wineries during our trip to Sonoma, and this was our least favorite. The wine was good and the property beautiful, but the experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, we were greeted and asked if we would like to do one of two tastings. We chose the one we wanted and were poured our first taste. We asked if we could take our glasses outside and walk around while we sipped the wine. We were told that we had to stay inside. Let me include that we visited mid week in March and saw only 1 couple outside when we walked in and were 1 of 4 groups inside. The weather was BEAUTIFUL-- not a cloud in the sky and 60 degrees, so not surprising that we would have preferred to take in the beauty of our surroundings. The winery also has multiple seating areas around the property; there was plenty of space and walking around would not have been intrusive on other guests. So we stood inside at the dim bar for our tasting, listening to the faulty, rattling fan in the background. Our server was knowledgeable of the wines, but more than once rushed us on to the next tasting. On one round, my husband still had his entire pour in his glass when she approached with the next bottle and said, ready for the next one? She continued to stand there, bottle in hand, until my husband downed his tasting and could pour the next taste into his glass. It was awkward and uncomfortable--it did not seem as if the experience was a priority for this server.We were given an additional complimentary port and chocolate taste at the end, which was kind. But overall, I would not recommend this winery for their tasting experience nor would we return.

If your wine tasting, or just traveling on Sonoma Hwy Kunde should be on your list of places to stop.Ive lived in the wine country for almost 30 years and Kunde is one of my favorites. There is plenty of parking, and plenty of places to sit where you are not on top of another guest.The tasting room is big and staffed by several wine experts who can assist you with your tasting or purchase. The tasting room is dog-friendly so long as your dog is tasting room friendly. Weve brought our beagles, Bagel and Jerry numerous times, and we always feel welcome.If you want a real treat, sign up for the vineyard dog hikes. The hikes are led by a winery employee, usually a Kunde family member like Jeff or Jordan Kunde. Once the hikers and dogs leave the production area, dogs are allowed off leash as they explore the back vineyards in the hills above the winery. The hikes are 3-5 miles, and every 30-45 minutes there is a wine tasting stop. Starting with whites, and ending with some reds. The history of the winery, vineyard and winemaking process is discussed during the hike.The hike wraps up back at the winery with a buffet lunch and treat table for the dogs. The same wines that were poured during the hike will be available by the glass during lunch. All proceeds benefit a local non-profit.

We visited on a whim because we saw the open sign when PG&E shutoff the power to the area on Oct 10 and are choices were incredibly limited (and we had no cell service). Out of the three places we visited (Brasswood :( and St. Supery :) ), this was by far our favorite. Bob was a wonderful sommelier and had a very good sense of humor. Great way to start off our trip to California and wine country! We pretty much liked all the wines we tasted, whereas, we only liked a couple of the wines we tasted at St. Supery and nothing at Brasswood. I had a friend visiting from the East Coast a couple months ago and we decided on a fun day trip to Sonoma/Napa and selected Kunde as one of the wineries we wanted to visit. From the moment we walked in, the entire experience was fun and pleasant. Kat, one of the staff at Kunde, helped handled our tasting and aside from the wine, was the best part of our experience. We decided we would stop by Kunde Family Winery, (we pasted the front gate earlier and looked nice) and try their wines. The property is beautiful and well manicured! My husband and I went to Kunde on a lark and discovered a wonderful tasting room experience. The staff was closing / pre-closing the tasting room because it was so late, but up until 5 p.m. they were *extremely* welcoming of anyone who came in. There was no rushing people to finish or leave. Staff were clearly working as a team so that closing could be done efficiently — without sacrificing customer care. They made great conversation and worked groups together. Probably one of my favourite wineries on our trip around the region. We came away with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was very different to many of the others we had tasted. Standard tasting was 6 wines tasted in the flight for $10 and their one club seems to have a real community feel to it with numerous events through the year. Other options were $25 for the reserve tasting with a cheese plate plus they do a tasting and vineyard tour up the mountain at1400 feet for $40 but this had already sold out for the day on our visit unfortunately. So book ahead of you want to take that option.

It was a beautiful place and we were very excited, but we were less than pleased with our visit. We walked in and began looking at the menu but could find no one willing to help us. No one so much as looked at us, let alone greeted us. The staff did not appear busy yet everytime we went to ask for service they avoided us like the plague. Delicious lunch provided by the FigRig, live music, and many wines to try.The inaugural pinot noir is beautiful, go out and try it before it is gone. I liked the wine but an older Asian woman working there was saying really rude things about people from Northern California. No sorry - theyre not all rednecks. In fact KUNDE is in Northern Cali! Too bad theyre employing people who would be so offensive to peoples faces with no regard. Unfortunate I will be telling my parents (in NorCal) to cancel their wine club membership.

The wines were everything youd hope for on a trip to CA wine country; however, the server Sonaya was harsh, impersonable, and dismissive. If it werent for her I would have given 4+ stars and purchased a few bottles of wine.

I took my wife there for Mothers Day this year and she had the best experience ever Julie you gave us such a great service she made us feel right at home and my wife had an agreeable time we did the tasting and then we ended up buying a bottle set outside everyone was having a great time and the only thing I can say is thank you for the great service and experience I only wish I could give you 10 stars.😃👍🏼
