Kulak’s is an amazing place! I was only in LA for a few days and so glad I made it here for the open mic. Lovely people and space, supportive community, water and coffee in the back for donation, in-tune piano, and a professional video of performances. Can’t wait to go back!

Kulaks Woodshed is such a unique venue. Their Monday night open mics are warm, welcoming, and wonderful. Singer-songwriters perform originals and covers on piano and guitar. The all-volunteer tech staff do an amazing job getting you set-up. The multi-camera video they shoot (and email), complete with cross-fades, gives you an opportunity to not only have footage of your performance, but also well-mixed live sound. Thank you so much Paul Kulak for creating and sustaining this labor of love for so many decades and so many artists, even though I have just discovered it. I hope many other recitals, bands, and showcases will book your venue and help financially support Kulaks Woodshed with donations.

So much to say about this place. All good.... Friendly staff, comfy, quirky, and somehow the acoustics are amazing. How I dont know... Great place for a jam and to go listen.. Highly recommend it.On bass... Nigel Fregozo...

Awesome, cozy venue with live recording of events. Self-serve snacks, but no alcohol inside. Very casual, friendly vibe. You can stream the shows at their website live or from previously recorded events. No door charge, but donations welcome to cover audio/video technicians.

Coolest music venue that I’ve been to in LA. Eclectic, unique, weird, and beautiful in all the best ways. The musicians that go there are as equally talented as they are friendly and the staff is amazing. The sound engineer Tatiana is the best in the game!! Kulak’s rules!

Unique venue. Totally ideal to book here if you have a solid act that you want a quality video of. You can book a show (the audience capacity is like 40 people) and come away with a great video to put online or whatever, complete with a folder of all the audio tracks so you can remix it if you want to

It was a really cool environment and exceptional production. The in house band is experienced and flexible. They are used to only playing a few genres of music though. The open mic was kind of set up funny with your name in a basket and didnt start until way later then advertised. So expect to wait awhile to play. Otherwise great place and I will recommend for any seasoned musician.

Been twice, once to watch and once to play. It is a warm and friendly place for musicians. Everything they say on website about labor of love, volunteers and wanting to have a place for singer songwriters is real. The opportunity to have performances recorded and sent to you is awesome. I highly recommend it for serious songwriters wanting to hone their craft and /or performance and stage presence.

Played here so many time and its amazing! Such a welcoming atmosphere filled with amazing musicians. There is also an open mic every week and the supply a live DVD for you for only $20 high def - multi can shoot.

This is a place for local musicians get to show their talents when they sign up in advance. While they sometimes offer snacks and drinks dont go here expecting to eat food, as the meal for the guests are the talented people there. Also, arrive early, very early because it is going to be packed as in standing room only if youre lucky packed. All that said highly recommended for people who like music.
